This episode is a tribute to two beloved artists…Eudora Welty’s birthday is coming
up on April 13th so I wanted to play the song that her book “One Writer’s Beginnings” inspired -
Halley Came To Jackson from the album Shooting Straight In The Dark…she was an infant when the comet Halley passed overhead in Jackson, Mississippi in 1910 and she grew up hearing stories about it…that book has brought more hours of happiness, introspection, instruction and inspiration than I could ever count. Happy Birthday Eudora!
John Prine's music will forever bring joy, inspiration, laughter and empathy to this world. I wanted to sing one that I’ve always revered for its simplicity in describing one person’s aching loss, Far From Me.
It’s impossible to believe that he has left this world; we were so lucky to live at the same time
that he wrote and performed his amazing songs, and love and care from this house goes out to his beloved wife Fiona, their boys and all the John Prine fans on the planet.

Thanks for "Far from Me"-one of my favorites since '71 when I decided to give this John Prine guy a chance and bought the album. I live on the gulf coast of the Florida panhandle-I stand daily at my window looking out at the empty spring break beach and can see how the wildlife is enjoying our absence. Saw a bald eagle standing on the beach this morning, and a coyote walking down the beach in broad daylight a few days ago. And the sheer number of birds on the beach is something I have never seen in 21 years of living here. It seems nature is giving a sigh of relief.
May the human race learn a new relationship with Nature from this. We have all that we need with home, family & friends. We do not need the cruise ships, the huge parties, the huge masses in stadiums and relentless "travel" to live happy lives. x
