  • So you hit the power button on your Dell and then you notice this ominous flashing of your LEDs 2 and then 3. This can either be all orange or 2 orange and 3 white. It repeats itself over and over again. We call this an LED code and don't worry it's actually good your computer is telling you this. Why is it good? Because Dell LED Codes are designed to tell you exactly what's wrong with your computer so there is no guesswork involved.
    So breathe easy one of our Certified Technicians will show you exactly how to fix it. It's simple and some might even say it's easy. Feel free to leave questions and comments down below. One of our Certified Technicians will respond to your message.

    Any ideas on what could be going on if the power LED is flashing white (consistently) with no LED flash of any sort from the other LED (LED light that flashed orange at the start of the video)? What I have done so far, removed RAM stick and installed it in the other slot, removed battery and plugged in power adapter (turned on fine). My best guess is the battery died but it was working fine the day before with no signs of failure. Battery looks to be in fine condition but I am not familiar with laptop batteries. Maybe a connection between the battery and computer?

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That can be a battery problem when it flashes like that. Dell has a built in diagnostic that will tell you the health of your battery. You can access it from your boot menu. Hit power, immediately start tapping on F12 then when the boot screen comes up use your arrow keys to select diagnostic. Hit enter then see if your battery passes the diagnostic.

      It could be that RAM came lose and that's why it's suddenly giving you problems. It's a pretty common problem with laptops. The RAM can loosen from being moved around over time and then you will get an issue like this. There is also always the possibility that on e of the RAM sticks has failed.

    When a computer just powers off randomly, more often over time, then won't even boot up, just dies when the Dell logo appears, or even before then.
    So, remove the only single RAM stick and power on and gives 3 Blue 2 Orange on a Dell Optiplex Micro 7000.
    Would that mean it was the RAM that is faulty, or it is detecting that there is no RAM?
    I suppose the latter but then we don't know if the RAM was faulty or the motherboard or CPU is still faulty but simply the motherboard has detected no RAM and so not progressing to the next stage of boot that causes it to die?

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya its not detecting a RAM stick that's why you are getting that LED code. You would have to buy a new stick to see if the RAM is the problem. Also could be a power issue. Here is a video on how to diagnose that:

The computer blinks (won't turn on) when I install both ram sticks & works on 1 8'Stick ram only. It slightly slipped out of my hand 2/12 inches & dropped back down on the table. Hello! My laptop's LED light is blinking 3 amber 1 white.
    My sister has been using my laptop lately and she left it plugged earlier before I used it. There was a prompt shown about the AC adaptor so I just dimissed it because I assumed it was the usual where I just had to replug the charger. I don't remember if I replugged it or unplugged, but after an hour of use, youtube was still buffering even though the internet is fine so I hibernated the laptop since I won't be using it anymore.
    I noticed that the lights are blinking 4 and 1, and when I turned on the laptop it showed a message that the battery was low and it shut off. I plugged the AC again and turned it on but when I reached the desktop screen, I could see the battery icon moving like it's charging but aftee a few secs it prompted the low battery message again and locked or shut off.
    I tried removing the battery and turned it on with the AC only and it works fine. I shut it off and pushed on the power button to drain the flea power, put the battery back and the AC but it still won't work.
    I went to diagnostics and the battery charge kept changing from 0% and 100%. Battery health is changing from 26% and 100%. Battery voltage is changing too. Current flow is 0mA. Charging state is Idle.
    I don't know what to do 😭

      4 1 is a problem with the CMOS Battery problem which can be that CMOS battery (the battery on the motherboard) needs replacing or it can mean its the CMOS isn't getting enough power because of a bad battery or bad power cord. Did the diagnostic say the battery and/or charger was bad?

      @@EggheadFixers The ePSA Pre-boot System Assessment did not mention about anything being bad. Yesterday, the results and the event log showed, "Fail PSA V4302 Error 2000:0132. Validate Code : 127081 Battery - The battery is reaching the end of its usable life." I did the quick test again today and it all passed, but after going for a 2nd test it showed the same error message.
      I'd also like to mention that there is a fine crack on the left palm rest of my laptop coming from the corner of the USB port and it goes just under where the Fn key is. It's probably from the times I dropped or bumped the laptop while in my bag. It's not noticable unless you actually look at it. I'm not sure about this but it seems like ever since I found that crack, if I rest my palm around that spot while typing, the flickering line (sorry, I don't know what it's called) would go somewhere else as if I clicked it there and I'd end up messing what I have typed or am typing. I wonder if that has made any damage or effect on the inner parts of my laptop.
      You also mistakenly pasted the same video reference link for the charger testing and CMOS battery.
