    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that:( First you need to try what we call reseating the Hard Drive which means unplugging and then plugging it back in to make sure its not an issue with the connection. If that does not work then most likely your hard drive has died and needs replacing. Here is a video on how to replace your hard and install an operating system:

    Thanks for the video. Very Helpful. However my ssd still couldn't be detected. I replaced the ssd and tried to install windows and the rst driver and it still would not detect a drive. i plugged my external ssd in and it detected. does this mean my motherboard/ssd port are bad? is there a cheap fix?

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it could mean that the port is bad but there are some other possibilities I would try. For example when you run the diagnostic does it read the new drive as there and working? Does it see it in BIOs? If yes then it could be a problem with the settings in BIOS. If no then it most likely is the SSD motherboard port issue. Also is the replacement SSD new? If not you could have another bad SSD.

    Very good video, thank you! Unfortunately, my boot issues is unresolved. Started getting an error that the hard drive was not installed in my Latitude E5450. Swapped out for an SSD and the problem persisted. The diagnostic doesn't recognize the hard drive being installed either. Thanks for that tip!
    Could it be that the hard drive controller on the motherboard itself has failed? I'm going to open it up again and see if I can spot where the hard drive cable attaches to the motherboard next.

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @rickdagrexican7351

      Grabbed my hd dock, popped the original drive in there. It works. Tried two other drives (same size, .5Tb) in the laptop and neither worked. Tried original drive, still didn't work. All drives worked in the dock. Even reseated the cable. I think the hd controller or the actual cable failed. Going to buy an external enclosure and set the laptop to boot off usb for now.

    • @rickdagrexican7351
      @rickdagrexican7351 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can end on a positive note. Put the original hard drive in the enclosure. Plugged it into one of the USB ports and it started right up! Simple solution for anyone else who encounters this scenario. It would make sense that the most likely failure was either the HD connector cable or the actual controller itself.

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickdagrexican7351 Ya it seems like you may have a bad hard drive port. If your model dell has a CD drive they have these CD Drive converters on ebay you can buy to convert your cd rom slot into a Hard drive slot. It works pretty good because it's the same exact port for a CD drive as it is for a hard drive.

    • @rickdagrexican7351

      @@EggheadFixers Well, unfortunately this model does not come with 1. I needed to use it's good to use my external to install so the things for her. Bottom line is, it's good to know that I can do that with a hard drive and an enclosure with such ease. I'm an old school PC Tech that's out of date lol. Grew up grew up in the eighties with an IBM PC then on to various XT and 286 clone computers and beyond. The last computer I put together is because I tried to buy one and they failed. I bought all the components and looked up enough information so that I could get it to work with really good performance. That was a year plus ago and and it's still running strong. So, as a person who grew up around technology, I appreciate people like you who are sharing the latest tips so that people like us don't have to is after go nuts trying to find it.

If a drive typically fail within a short time if there is a defect present from manufacturing. if it keeps happening I would consider getting a cooling pad for your computer. Overheating is big cause of this and also start using it with a good quality surge protector. Surge protectors need to be replaced regularly. I lost a phone and a laptop to a bad outlet once.

      It could be one of two things. First thing it could be a connection issue. The solution for this would be to try what we call reseating the hard drive which means unplugging it and then plugging it back in. If the issue resolves itself then you're all set. -Selected the UEFI since im using windows 10 also enabled security boot
      -I also did diagnostics and all hardwares passed EXCEPT for one thing, one drive has an "NA" (not an exclamation mark) while my other drive passed the test.

    Went to setup utility and all the stuffs u mentioned were already there but still can't restart normally. SATA only has AHCI and I had boot option priorities instead of boot sequence. The boot option#1 is windows boot manager. There was no other better choices. Please aid on this...I have been trying for the whole morning :'(

      Sorry to hear that☹ First I would try what we call reseating the hard drive which means unplugging it and then plugging it back in. Then rerun the diagnostic. If that does not work then its most likely that you need a new hard drive. Sometimes when a hard drive really dies the motherboard doesn't read it as being installed. Also Windows boot manager should be set first in your boot order so that is done correctly. Here is a video on how to replace your hard drive and install an operating system:

    On my Latitude 7390 i have error "no bootable devices found " and the self diagnostic tool says no hard drive installed. I've followed instructions on the above video but so far no luck. I also took out and reseated the ssd but no luck. I guess my ssd is broken? The current type of ssd is "ssdsckkf256g8". Is there a better option available?

      Yes it sounds like you need to replace your SSD. Your currently have a 256GB SSD. You could upgrade to a 512GB or 1TB. Here is a link to Upgrade opitions:

      It could be that you hard drive has a lose connection or is possibly starting to fail. Either way I would back up your data right away to be on the safe side.

    I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series. I've done the F12 thing and everything is ok except I get "Hard Drive - Not Installed.' Can I replace hard drive with a SSHD? Also will I have my info from my computer when I replace hard drive? If not how do I get all my info off hard drive?.....thanks for any light you can shed on this for me!

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you should be able to replace it with a SSHD or SSD without a problem. As long as you buy one that is compatible. Your info will not be on the new drive. If your hard drive is dead then sometimes you can get your info off of it by using a external hard drive bay but this will only work if the hard drive is not too dead.

    will this work for the dell g3 15 3579 model? my laptop was working last night and this morning just fine and then this happen it also some how removed the uefi windows boot option when I pressed F12 but it was there before, I did a diagnostic scan and everything if fine my only issue is that it sates that the Hard drive is not installed
    Dell e.PSA Pre-Boot system assessment ( 4306.15 ) service tag BX57XR2
    Product Name G3 3579
    System BIOS 1.5.1
    Service tag BX57XR2
    e.PSA Build 4306.15 UEFI ROM
    also the dell g3 15 3579 model doesn't allow you to remove the battery, I guess my other option is going to a repair store so they can hopefully properly disconnect and reconnect the hard drive but I fear the i'm going to have to buy and hard drive + I got my laptop last year too :( do you have other advice please
    and in the bios setup it also removed the Boot Sequence before it listed a Windows option but now it gone somehow :(
    I forgot to add for the SATA option I have the RAID and AHCI the setting is on RAID but I don't know if I should change it to the AHCI because my laptop was set up with the RAID option i'm so confused on what to do :(

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Here is a video on how to replace your hard drive and install an operating system:
      th-cam.com/video/TElCJDbKdKk/w-d-xo.html
      You can try switching the raid on and AHCI if it doesn't work then you switch it back.
