I agree it's one of my favs for sure the devils rejects and a few other Rob Zombie films most Tarantino movies and a few Guy Richie films being Born In the mid 80s being brought up on 90s films explains a lot I guess

Brad Pitt's accent is actually very good as he is playing a Traveller (gypsy) which is slightly diff from mainland Ireland. Think Tyson Fury. I have come into many British travellers in London in my lifetime and Brad's accent is surprisingly accurate

I've known people with accent's identical to those portrayed, it was this movie that really shone a spotlight on Brad Pitt's acting abilities for me. Yeah he'd done big roles but to attempt this role and the accent and get it spot on. To the point you forget "That's Brad Pitt" and just see Mikey.. That's Genius...
Yes! Was literally about to say the same thing. I was really impressed with his role, and admittedly, did not expect to be. I thought he was more the pretty boy cookie-cutter role filler back then, and I did a whole 180 after Snatch. Killed the accent/Pikey role.
He made up the accent because he couldn't do the real one. He talks about that in a couple of interviews. But I think, that made it even better than just an Irish accent.

One of my fav films. Guy Ritchie is fantastic. Gotta do Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels next. "Pikey or pikies" is derogatory cockney slang for gypsy.
And Gypsy is also a derogatory (and incorrect) name for the Roma-people. The name originated because when originally Romani-migrants came to England, the English had not heard of India (where they emigrated from), but had heard of Egypt thanks to the Bible which gave them an excuse to discriminate.
