I would highly recommend ‘Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels’! It’s the first movie made by Guy Ritchie, the director of this movie and also Jason Statham’s first movie too. It’s slightly less polished but it’s just as fun, clever, and fast paced while being maybe slightly less polished.

You should really check out Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentleman” with Matthew McConaughy. It slipped under the radar before the lockdowns but it is an AMAZINGLY fun film!!!
@The Yorkshireman Reacts it slipped under the radar because it made only 36 million in US and about 15 million in Uk…in other words not a lot of people saw it. Pikie is a term used to describe traveler's/gypsies. They are honorable, but only to their own people, not outsiders. And yes it is true about the Pigs. Also, this film is one of Brad Pits favorite films to have been in. Check out "Lock stock and two smoking barrels", it was the first film Guy Richie made and the first film Jason Statham stared in. Though I can't believe that you only gave it a 6. Lol.
lol you don't know many gypsies if you think we're honorable to each other, Roma are just as honorable/disonorable as anyone else, depends on each person, but what is true that most Roma don't like to get chummy with people outside of the community.
@@lextex3280 I'm an Irish Traveller like the ones described in this film, we find it funny. The fighting and haggling is definitely true. Obviously, Pitt's character is a bit over the top but so are many others in this film.
The reason the Pikie won both times was because he was placing a bet on himself while Bricktop had him and his friends betting on him to lose. The pikie was making tons of money by knowing the fight was going to be rigged.
Love your reactions, man, keep doing what you're doing. This is a movie that deserves to be better known than it is. Highly recommend Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels at some point, which is cut from the same cloth.
Fun fact, Brad Pitt saw Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels which is another Guy Ritchie directed film and had his people talk to Ritchie's people as he wanted to be in his next movie. Perks of being Brad Pitt. However, Pitt couldn't do a British accent, so he got the role as Gypsy where he speaks Pikey and his Brit accent doesn't matter. Such a small role in the movie yet he steals the movie. I think hes everyone's favorite character.
Pikeys/gypsies are mainly Irish travellers (or of Irish heritage - a small fringe of the Irish). They are known for bare knuckle boxing. Brad Pitt did a good job of depicting a natural. Fun fact - Tyson Fury was a bare knuckle boxer before he became a professional boxer! And he was was what you would call a 'Pikey'.
I steal a line from BrickTop constantly lol, I drink my coffee black and anytime im asked if I want sugar I deadpan "No thanks, Im sweet enough" with the most dour look on my face LOL

Great film this man. Stephen Graham who plays Tommy is such a brilliant actor aswell and comes from my neck of the woods, Liverpool. If you found it hard understanding the accents here then you’ll have an even harder time understanding our Scouse (Liverpool) accent haha
Try turning on the subtitles, if you watch this movie again. IIRC, there are two options: 1. subtitles for everyone, and 2. Pikey--subtitles just for the travelers. The crazy convoluted plot does make more sense when you don't have to stop and think to figure out what everyone is saying. C: This is a fave film of mine, thanks for the reaction!
The DVD has special subtitles for the Pikeys to help you understand what they're saying. When it gets to the part where Brad Pitt is laying on the blarney just before the rabbit chase, however, the subtitles go: "???????"

They are a real group of people and they do live in the UK. So if you meet one in real life, just remember they prefer to be called Travellers and not Pikies.
This movie was one of Jason Statham's first- He wasn't an action star yet. On the home video version, one of the subtitle options is a Pikey translator, which puts up Brad Pitt's dialog in English.
Guy Ritchie movies are all crazy like this, but it's always wild good fun. There's always a ton of interweaving storylines going on. Pretty much a genre of its own. You like one, you'll probably like 'em all.

I always considered this more of a heist movie than a straight up action movie. Though it's not strictly a heist movie either but it does have a lot of the same elements. Still an enjoyable movie though.
Jason Statham first few movies. Directed by Guy Richie. Where he was lead role . Were comedic gangster movies similar in theme to this. Lock Stock and two smoking barrels. Is another one to check out
You bet on him to lose because he's such a huge favorite so you get better odds to fix the match. You don't go to the person that you expect to get knocked out and ask him to get knocked out, you dont make nearly as much.
Def a banger! It's a British comedy film so the accents are thick as hell! mickey the pikey let his ass get beat on until the fourth round bc the high rollers their bet was placed on "Mickey KO in the fourth round". he played along and took the winnings which were the bets the high rollers placed on the fourth round, meaning that was the jackpot. Snatch still one o my fav movies man 💯
The reason why they wanted him to lose is because he has those hands because they know of his knockout power he would be a heavy favorite to bet on where everyone would be betting on Brad Pitt so betting him to lose and control the outcome they will get more money.
Where I grew up in IL there use to be this like mini zoo. Really it was just someones farm, but they had all kinds of animals you could go and pet or look at or whatever. Well it turned out they had been disposing of bodies for the mafia for decades by feeding them to I think it was a tiger. Apparently this kind of thing started in the days of Al Capone broke farmers during The Great Depression were looking for anyway to make money and so some of the farms outside of Chicago started doing this 'service' for the mafia. Everyone was shocked when we found out we had been going there since we were kids.
Pikeys = gypsies = travelers. In this case Irish travelers. They do speak like that and they are hardcore but by my personal experience they are good people and look and live a lot better than the depiction down in this movie. They live better than most people their homes are like palaces on wheels and they are never short of money.
