I'm not sure if this is just internet rumor or fact, but after Guy Ritchie made Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (great movie, by the way) the complaint from American audiences was that they couldn't understand a word through the accents. So, as a tongue in cheek joke about that, Ritchie got an American superstar actor to play a role with an accent that no one else in the movie could understand.

Guy Ritchie based the two films on his experiences around London especially the characters he met and observed in the pubs and clubs....When he made Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels he still had loads of material that did not use so he turned that into Snatch.

The burning caravan scene with Massive attack playing is a grossly under rated movie moment! I get goose bumps whenever I watch it. Brad Pitt saw Lock Stock and Two smoking barrels and called his agent that night to contact Guy Ritchie, He wanted to be in his next film and took a massive pay cut compared to Hollywood wages. He absolutely nailed it! Check out TLC for American Gypsies, they've always got a bad rap but in many cases - they don't do themselves any favours with their behaviour. Great vid fella!

Pikey is a derogatory word for an Irish Traveller. They live a nomadic existence and are a very close and loyal group.
The script was left over ideas from Lock Stock, which is a bit darker in direction and script, but arguably the better film as it's the original (in a way). Great video. Peace👊

I wasn't raised around pigs so I had no idea how big and aggressive they can be. I had to climb up into the rafters of the barn to escape...braving the nearby hornet's nest to do so. Later, my mom told me that she had been chased up a tree when she was young by a wild pig. History repeating itself haha

No one's 100% certain about the origin of 'quid' since it's been around for so long and there are multiple claimed origins for it. The most often cited and plausible in no particular order are:
    * The Latin phrase 'quid pro quo' (something for something). Quid being the 'something' you give to get the 'something' you want.
    * A contraction of the place name Quidhampton, where the paper for the old pound notes was made.
    * The Gaelic (the native language of Ireland) phrase 'mo chuid airgid' (my portion of money)..

  • @alternativejoe1

'Quid' always seems to confuse a lot of non-Brits.
It's used in place of the word 'pound' but only for whole pounds, so you can have 'a quid', 'thirty quid' or 'five hundred quid', but we'd never say 'five quid thirty'.
