  • Lone Star Grillz Santa Maria Grill is completely different than LSG offset smoker. Santa Maria Style Cooking using real logs to create coals and therefore Santa Maria grilling is about as primal & immersive as it gets. In a world that values "set it and forget it" this could not be more opposite... Is Santa Maria Cooking right for you?
Thank you to Lone Star Grillz for sponsoring this video. For more information, check them out. tinyurl.com/hsxa68np

always wanted a santa maria style grill so i purchased one a year ago. i learned quickly that they are super fun but they consumed 3x as much fuel than any grill with a lid. LSG are pretty indestructible so it will last a lifetime. Nowadays i use mine for short cooks but my WEBER 26" IS KING of versatility plus with the large charcoal tray it so fuel economical.

The other thing is the fact that the brasero design doesn't allow you to sweep the coals from the brasero box to the cooking chamber. Having to shovel them all the way out and then back in seems like a pain. I'm sure they can come up with a design that integrates the brasero into the cook chamber

Congratulations, Justin. That's just way too much fun. Maybe the only thing more intensive to cook on than an offset. I've got another LSG coming in December to got with the Adjustable Grill & Smoker. This time it's the pellet grill. I thought I was done with pellet cookers, but the LSG just had everything I'd ever wished for on my previous pellet burners and I just couldn't resist.

I got mine in Costco in Goleta, CA for $299 it's made by Santa Maria Grills. 20x30". Very common around here in the 805. I also added a charcoal/wood grate to keep the coals up off the bottom for better air flow under the wood so you have better airflow and cleaner burning wood.

some day this week. No more Webber kettle and no more flare ups. Just crank the wheel! Got the 20 by 36

Soooo , just how long have you had that wonderful piece of functional art? Buddy I'm so happy for you. I'm still planning on ordering mine in October, oh wait a minute, it's October already isn't it. Hmmm , I better get to it. So Ricer has one, you have one. I believe Alton had one. There is something I want to remind you about cooking with fire. First and foremost we increase or decrease heat by adding or subtracting the amount of fuel. The ability to increase or decrease distance between fuel/ flames/ coals and the food we are cooking is a additional benefit, especially fine tuning the temperature. And the learning curve on this stile of cooking is fast and forgiving. And as a added benefit if necessary one can always raise the grill and reach in and using tongs or a shovel to move the coals to increase or decrease temperature in a specific location. Or order the front door like you did witch is exactly what I'm planning on doing. I hadn't seen the nice stainless steel flip out shelf on your adjusting wheel side, very nice. I'll definitely go that way plus the brozero. Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing Ricers videos on this cooker. But don't think that means you're off the hook! You're obligated to put out some videos on this beautiful cooker. We all love you buddy and the amazing things you do with your videos so don't be such a stranger. Have a great day. 😄👍🌤🔥

Lots of time in Paso Robles CA where this style rules, especially when cooking for a big crowd. Fun watching the action in retail parking lots cooking a dozen each of tri tips and chickens (at least) plus sides. Seeing and smelling the food cooking while driving by brings 'em in.
