@@Noah_eotlr Agreed. I understand why they have it (I've seen opponents swing into reach creatures when it bugged out a few times), but it's just visual clutter for me and I wish I could toggle it.
At 25:10 personally I would've kept playing because that's what Flow of Knowledge is for: to recover those kinds of situations with an instant reload, but I understand your choice too.
I'd have at least waited another turn or two to see if they drew another threat. A 3/3 is a 7 turn clock, and even with the creature land in hand it'd be pretty slow.
I was gonna use almost the same time stamp to say: This deck isn't winning by countering threats, it's winning by protecting threats. That's a subtle but significant difference
Here to make the extreme play to your outs comment: not dead on board at 53:43. Flash in floodpits drowner in response to the Harvester targeting, tap down valgavoth saccing mastermind and both curiosities. Maybe trade in combat and draw into a solution with flow. Very tough match!
people go on about how zur has synergy with all the overlords i think theyre missing the potential synergy it has with the enduring enchantments because zur can keep turning them back into creatures. Card draw is good but the black one that makes them lose life for life you gain is busted when zur gives all your stuff lifelink. i'm really excited to make an esper zur enchantment deck and the performance of enduring curiosity makes me more pumped to try this :) I hope you make a standard zur deck in the future your builds are always so much fun to watch
Game 2 vs Gruul felt like a trademark Seth Early Scoop. You had over 6 turns to draw something, and Flow of Knowledge could completely turn the game around for you
27:21 It's funny that even though Arena put a giant bow and arrow on creatures with Reach during your opponents turn, people still swing with fliers without realizing it 😅
I mean, the reason why mass Curiosity effects are mostly a Commander thing is that they're mostly just enchantments that take your whole turn to set-up. Turns out that stapling that effect to a 4/3 flash for 2UU that takes two removal spells to kill makes it way more playable!
I had 2 Faithfuls is why I ran out the one early, also wanted to get one in ahead of counters if you were on them…..You def were I found out!!! lol Bell is for delirium and allows a lower land count.
Ive been watching your videos for like 4 months and i finnaly understand now that your saying SaffronOlive. I could never understand what you were saying. "Bettter know as Seth Freth dolin"
I’m super happy that you’re playing a “Tempo/Control” style deck, I know you don’t typically like playing these archetypes for content but as someone who enjoys this archetype it’s nice to have someone alongside Crim playing blue too!
49:37 You should have bounced the Valgavoth's faithful. They would not have had enough mana to activate it. If they replay it they have to chump and if draw a floodpit drowner or into the floodmaw you can bounce the atlanak on their turn
Man, the more games I see against Valgavoth the more I appreciate the design. It is a _scary_ card, and yet it's beatable, and the times you manage to beat it are so sweet
"I dont know how that little forg is dealing with Tyranosaurus, but we're not gonna ask too many questions, we're just gonna win"... I LOVE your commentary Seth, I always end up laughing xD

I’m super excited to try this one. Might put a couple vacuums in the board though. That valgavoth win was impressive, but I’m not sure I feel confident it would be easy to replicate. Lol
Unable to Scream on Valgavoth feels weirdly appropriate - this little moth dolly holding inside it the souls of its victims, a young Marina Vendrell carrying it around at night at the shadows lengthen.
My biggest tip to "up the gameplay level" of any new(ish) Magic player is always: Learn to play your cards at the last possible moment. If you have haste creatures, that's your first main phase. If you have flash creatures, it's your opponent's end step
That's interesting, I actually like this deck. Never thought I'd say that about mono blue, but I guess that's because it's tempo and not control, and that it still has a more active beatdown plan to win the game.
Monoblue is actually super good, we even have good removal with 1 mana frogify and 2 mana frogify with flash. Plus arguably the best board wipe in rotation with Season of Weaving.
Seth: "I can't believe I'm playing Filter Out in the sideboard. There are so many enchantments in Standard." Me: "SHIELA! SHEILA! COME LOOK! Wotc remembered how to make sideboard cards!"
In that last turn of game 1 v Valgavoth's Faithful turbo, you could have flashed in the Drowner, sacced the Faerie, and either both Curiosities or one and the Drowner to stun Valgavoth and bought yourself time
To be fair, I'm 99% sure that they edit the order of the games to make sure that the first game is exciting and/or showcases the deck. I swear he's started game 1 with "we're playing x again" in past videos, though he usually has a generic intro at the start of every match so that it is hard to tell
Just wondering if there was a way to add in the amount of rares ect to these deck techs (I appreciate you mention how many in this video). For other videos it helps to see what it would “cost” in Arena
It's not the same thing but I've been enjoying Esper Flash in Historic. Bowmasters, Slitherwhisp, Spell Queller, Wandering Emperor, Leyline Binding, etc all work pretty well together
I played against a simic deck with this theme today in historic. It was busted against my taplands-only-and-only-one-spell-a-turn deck. Ran into it again on an azorius control pile a few games later. They scooped after I used a Test of Talents on their uncounterable counterspell just to get a look at their hand. Control with a wincon just doesn't hold up to winconless control it seems.
Been playing a couple similar shells to KCGregor, i've found playing red for pyroclasm to be very good and also having demand answers style discard outlets is very good. Being able to say its name/overlord of the balemurk back your reanimation spells is a bit cracked. You end up reanimating like 5 atraxas/valgavoths a game if you have to
I can imagine queing up against you and thinking “oh sweet! Seth always plays really unique and fun decks I wonder how this will go” and then playing against just the most annoying thing ever 😅
I hope you have to play agains that deck a lot. I want to see you go ; well well well if its not the consequence of my action at less it does win kinda fast for a control deck
My arena has been glitching like that recently as well. I also had a weird glitch when casting adventure spells where I'm unable to select the spell mode or cancel the spell cast, then after the timer runs out, the spell disappears into oblivion.
Watching this makes me wonder if we've actually gotten to the point in the game where creatures are so central to EVERY strategy now that essence scatter is actually maindeckable. Obviously Get Out does more than that but with creatures being so much stronger on average and spells being weaker is it just good to play if you can cast it in your deck?
Heist decks make me salty. I'd like to heist my own deck every turn and play the card for colourless manar. being countered seems pretty tame in comparison 🙂
Seth hates crim decks that counter everything and don't let you resolve spells. Also Seth, loves blood moon and hard locking opponent out of playing magic at all.
Could this deck be played azorius with errant and giada, aven interupter and no more lies ya reckon? Also would demo fields be good if one wss gonna stay monocoloured?
I don't think errant and giada is super competitive but it could be fun as a one or two of. You'd only be able to cast your creatures off the top is the problem if it were the other way and you were able to cast instants off the top I think it would be way better and I love future sight effects but in general being able to see what's on top is often doesn't really help your win percentage. You also have to be careful about how many soft counters you add to the deck since they quickly become dead cards late game so I would probably split the no more lies and phantom interferences like 3-3 or 4-2 something like that. I think the biggest upgrade of adding white is having access to get lost and sweepers in the sideboard for aggro but the deck quickly no longer becomes budget when you do with those plus the dual lands.
Also, Seth keeps on saying Monoblue budget, so what cards should one add for upgrades? This is a newer version of similar Monoblue tempo decks from LVD, CGB etc (Eluge, etc)
How long did this take Seth? It would get run over by *every* aggro deck currently, so finding matches against all these slower decks seems a bit sus, heh :p
It was just the first five matches we played. The untapped.gg stats are at the end of the video. Are you playing best of three or best of one? I wouldn't try this in best of one, there's way too much aggro there.
Crim looks a bit different today... Must be a new shirt or something
This is fallout from losing the Seth v Crim early access showdown

My thoughts exactly. One flow and that whole game just gets flipped on its head
I'd have at least waited another turn or two to see if they drew another threat. A 3/3 is a 7 turn clock, and even with the creature land in hand it'd be pretty slow.
@Metallicity also idk if I'm missing something, but wouldn't bouncing the dork be better? Would've needed to re-add the counters
