And some of those plays were on board things that Thoralf even missed. Lands is a weird decl and Legacy is a hard format. Kudos to all players mastering their decks and finding outplays where needed.
Love the difference between Thoralf's "cards we pulled out of the folders" Miracles list, and Carl's "clearly just brought it from home", black bordered duals, altered moxes, heavily foiled personal lands deck.
It's a deck borrowed from one of the big wigs at karma Crow or something like that. Deepest lore, if you watch back like a year ago they have lands videos with this same exact deck I recognize the mox diamonds

in the early days of magic, the very first decklist that circulated online, known simply as "the deck", was blue white control, that closed out games with serra angel, a 4/4 flying angel. thoralf just closed out the legacy series playing blue white control and swinging in with a bunch of 4/4 angels. as an ancient magic boomer, i am pleased.
The prophesy is fullfilled. We can now rest happily knowing that The Deck is still the best deck ever. Even if the list are vastly different, in spirt its still the same deck, with the same gameplan and the same finishers ;')

I'm really really happy you enjoyed the series :D I put a lot of love into editing this one and I'm thrilled with how it played out. Is there a format you'd particularly like to see for the next one?
@@CardmarketMagicThe amount of effort you put in shows. I haven't played mtg in over a decade and have no interest in ever getting back into it, but I watch every one of your videos. Keep up the great work. 😊

The weight of that final turn made me hold my breath longer than I should have. I could literally feel the heartbeat, lolol. This was such an amazing series and I cannot wait for the "finale"? Much, much love from South Korea!
This was such an amazing rollercoaster ride! So many times I thought for sure one deck would clearly win only for the game to completely turn around again! It was really cool to see Thoralf and Carl put everything they had into their plays, and it really shows how much love and care and enthusiasm they put into this serie. Bravo, gentlemen, bravo!

Seeing this thumbnail, Toffel will definitely need a Miracle to beat CarLands, the magnificent fusion of pilot and deck. UW Control and Lands are my two favorite archetypes so I could not have gotten a more exciting matchup for the finals. Can't wait to see who gets to wear the crown!
Carl always manages to get me on his side, no matter what deck or format he is playing. As an Amulet Titan player, seeing him pilot the lands deck so expertly is awesome

This channel is just such a blessing. It really can't be understated how enjoyable and well put together these videos are. Without these videos I would have literally no clue how almost any format functions and it makes each deck/format seem so fun and inviting. The videos are so well edited, it's not hard to parse how the games play. I just love this channel so much. Ty for all of the videos, I think I've watched every single one over the last couple years!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY HEART AHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A GAME WHAT A MATCH WHAT A SERIES!!!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot congratulate everyone involved well enough, I dare say this was the best "best ever" series yet with ONE HELL of a nail bitter Finals holy shit. Congratulations Carl and Thoralf for playing it out of your minds in these games HOLY MIRACLE LANDS!!!
Really proud of you guys! This match displayed a very high level of skill, especially during the plays around 45:00 with juggling with tight sequencing. It is really a delight to watch these old school videos where every single decision matters a ton
That particular sequence of plays you mention is the best I've ever seen in a game of Magic. It required from both players intimate knowledge of the decks, fast and great thinking, and a good dose of luck, and it was going to decide the winner of the game.
I wonder if that actually was the right call? (Thoralf spinning the top) If swords is the top card of his deck, it doesn't matter what he does. If one of his other 2 outs is the top card, he shouldn't spend the mana. So he should only top if swords is the 2nd or 3rd card of his deck. BUT! If he doesn't spend the mana and the top card is Brainstorm (which it actually was), he still has the mana to cast it and look 3 cards deep (not 4, because one of them is always the top). So he gets to essentially top with no risk by casting it, because at that point swords is his only out. If he tops into a Brainstorm then it doesn't do anything because it will just show the same 3 cards. So the question is - is it more likely for his 3 mana out to be the top card, or is it more likely that swords is 2nd or 3rd? How much does Brainstorm affect the math? It's extremely close and in hindsight it didn't matter at all which he picked here, but I'd love for someone to do the math on this. These kind of sequencing math problems are one of my favorite aspects of the game, but I'm on my phone with no decklist and won't lose sleep trying to count what he had left in the deck lol
@@Jestemkioskiem Yea, what you mention is just the thing that made me love this video. You can certainly discuss what the right play was there, the thing I really like though is the fact that they vocalised their thought process so even if you disagree with their decision it makes it easy to follow what was going through their heads. And all in all I feel they played pretty tight
There’s a lot more variety in Vintage than you’d expect. The current meta consists of U/B/x Lurrus (a creature/spell based control deck), Dredge (graveyard based combo), Jewel Shops, (Artifact combo), Mono-White Initiative (Creature based aggro), Underworld Breach (in countless combo and control configurations), Oath and Tell (a big creature combo deck), Doomsday (spell based combo), Sultai (creature based midrange), Squeevine (a manaless control deck, yes really), Traditional Shops (artifact based prison/aggro), all kinds of Lurrus Deathrite Shaman decks (3-4c creature based midrange), various Tinker decks (artifact/spell based combo/control), as well as a few brews. Also Vintage is a lot more interactive than you’d imagine. Force of Will/Negation/Vigor, Wasteland/Strip Mine, Spell Pierce, Flusterstorm, Null Rod/Collector Ouphe, Pyroblast, Lavinia, Swords to Plowshares, Leyline of the Void, Tabernacle, and more, all go a long way towards keeping all-in combo in check. Ironically, the presence of powerful combo and Stax options actually encourages Vintage decks to interact with the opponent, as ignoring your opponent is just asking to die/get locked out of the game. Vintage is a cool format, and one of these tournaments for Vintage would be pretty sweet.
I think it's fair to say that this channel probably has some of the best magic players mixed with amazing humor. Carl is a cardmarket employee and plays on the level of a pro!
Me too it's one of if not my favorite deck in all of magic although I like all UW control variants I was kinda scared near the finale but was glad tht Miracle overcame the odds it truly was a miracle
What a truly incredible series! I can't believe how it all played out :) thank you once again for sharing these games as they bring me much joy. I hope you have a great rest of your day
What a ride, full of ups and downs! And once again, we get to see great performances from both decks leading to such a knife-edge final game. Great plays from both sides, and that's what ultimately really matters! Thank you for this great series! Well done everyone involved!
Congrats Toffel. What a comeback. The mad search for swords all the way to angels + elspeth to party like 2012. I mean a jace mill kill, into a flash beatdown and finally a proper miracle win. Well done. And Carl, seeing you play the decks you like is a joy. Also there is something cathartic about seeing merit lage get one mana swordsd over and over again
WOW that was a match and a half. Gonna space this message out to hopefully avoid spoiling for people I was rooting for miracles all game, and was scared with the beginning…but that was a GREAT show from both of you guys. Happy to see the deck I rooted for win…even if it took a miracle to happen
What an amazing series! I really enjoyed the back and forth between the decks, and was amazed to see the conclusion. I must say I'm surprised Carl did not decide to rishadan port on that final turn after using it at every opportunity before!
PERFECTION! This is definetely the best youtube video i’ve ever watched, and it’s better than any movie! The supsense, confidence, bluffing, humor, extremely over the top costume, excellent music and suspense, Toffel being up against the wall, interactive interesting and high-level gameplay, great editing, swings and MIRACLES! Holy crap what a match! Lands was so dominant for the first three games that I thought half the video would be spoiler-block filler, but then Thoralf pulled off some miracles and made an insane comeback to the game and match.
Wow! What an amazing variety of thrilling games! You both played so well, I would absolutely have believed that this was a match between *two* champions.
What an amazing series and especially final match! I think it really highlighted just how true the "every decision matters" claim from the intro really is! Looking forward to the next!
What a game! That sneak of info for best deck ever, I can only hope the upsets continue, rooting for pauper, let's get more attention on best format ever!
This is my favourite Cardmarket video ever. It has it all - excellent piloting, intricate plays, fun commentary and atmosphere, top-notch editing and tense matches. Carl, I was so rooting for you and lands - you pilot this deck so extremely well! Would love to see you playing it on the channel again . Kudos & congrats to Toffel for taking it home!
I've been rooting for Miracles the entire time since Top is one of my favorite cards because of just how insane it is in terms of card advantage, and that it came out when I started playing Magic. Can't wait for the Vintage Best Deck Ever Tournament :P
Omg what a series of games! That ending! Truly both decks lived up to their names and showed why both deserve the title of the best legacy decks ever. Amazing content. That ending was beautifully nail bitting down to the last turm. Couldnt have been more perfect.
Wow, that Bog play to “counter” his snap caster magic really impressed me with how much he knows his deck. It’s like his Batman utility belt with a bunch of gadgets and gizmos for niche issues.
This final was truly amazing. You already blew my mind with the final for the Modern format and the infinite Emrakul loop but this final is really on another level. As you always said, every decision matters. Nice costume Carl by the way

Great video, also Carl if you are reading this, you still had chance even after the entreat if only you had tapped one of the plains to not die on that turn. T. stage to copy blast zone but without the counter to clear the angels. I wish lands made it to the top 8 of the best decks of the best decks ever.
Since thespian's stage has to tap, it copies the blast zone but then is still tapped. The elspeth was what won the game; otherwise Carl gets another turn and can clear the angels. Super close though!!
Noooooo! I wanted Carl and lands to go all the way. This was an amazing game, and a phenomenal tournament all around! I think it was the BEST Best Deck Ever Series yet! Thank you Carl and Cardmarket team for making the best magic videos out there!
I'm happy you were rooting for me :D I was really proud of my plays this time, but Thoralf played really well and the top of his library was kinder than mine in some key moment 😅 I'll get that crown next time 👑
This is imo one of your best videos, which is already a high bar. Such a rollercoaster ride, exciting to the last second. Thoralf‘s mind games are also just great to watch 👍
Was Rest in Peace released yet? It was dropped in October 2012 with Return to Ravnica, and the infographic on the video says that the deck is also 2012, so it depends when in 2012/if people started using RIP yet
I‘m so so happy that Miracles won! Because of this deck I was looking forward to this series. It was my first Legacy decks with a lot of good memories. Through the whole tournament I thought like 10 times that this is it, the end is near. But Miracles defied the odds every time! Don‘t even let me get started on the finals… If there ever was a fitting name for a deck, it‘s this one. Congratulations!
Firstly, I want to say that Carl and the entire team are bringing back the feels that I used to get when I would watch the SCG vs series back in the early 2010s. I absolutely love all of the content that is presented including whacky AI and player created card videos! Y’all have done all of the popular formats so it’ll be hard to do a best ever series after this, the next step really is to have all the winners fight against each other. It would be kind of cool to see yall approach other TCG’s like One piece TCG, flesh and blood, or lorcana. (Most importantly one piece TCG) but it is a hard game to get a hold of considering the printing issues but Bandai fixed them with the release of op08. Magic the gathering is going to be in a stagnant state until December so I think the biggest selling point of these videos are the personalities and the interactions between them. Every single person on these videos are super cool and interesting and I wish one day I could meet yall just to hang out! I hope these videos continues for as long as it makes yall happy.
What a way to end the tournament! Excellent demonstration of what both decks do in a really grindy set and couldn't ask for a more intense end to it all! Wicked plays and heck yeahh! So excited to see the next series!
@@999lijpo999 True but is he technically allowed to bring it in tapped if it's not supposed to? For example what if there was a card that said "Destroy target untapped land" (Which there is not) but i'm just saying rules are rules. oh my lord, this is why I love good ol' 1vs1 magic the gathering This series was amazing, and the finale was even better, both Carl and Toffel played so good, and made the entire thing super enjoyable, easy one of the best videos of this channel
Congrats for closing the best video series you ever did. Amazing plays, amazing skills, amazing commentary. I was on the edge of my seat the whole game. What a final!!! From 0-2 to 3-2!!! My beloved Miracles is the winner!! 🎉🎉🎉
That was just awesome! I just gonna watch whatever you guys upload, but for me the best videos are the ones with good players playing good decks, and this video was exactly that. Good stuff 👏👏👏👏
Definitely one of my favorite videos from y'all, right up there with Carl winning the Modern tournament. This match was incredible and an absolute joy. I was rooting for Carl the whole tournament. The fact that he dug so much for the Punishing Fire in game 3 and just couldn't get it was devastating. And Thoralf's mastery of Control was on full display.
I know I'm watching this with the benefit of seeing all the information available to both players, but it's really sad to see Carl not use hus rishadan port in the final turn or two of the last game. A port activation in Thoralf's upkeep to tap a plains would prevent the Elspeth
uhhh weirdly yes. "DEALING DAMAGE TO PLANESWALKERS If a source you control would deal noncombat damage to an opponent, you may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker that opponent controls instead. This is a redirection effect: you choose whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied, and it's subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects. The player affected by the damage chooses the order in which to apply such effects, but the controller of the source of the damage chooses whether the damage is redirected. Note that this redirection can't be applied to combat damage. # For example, although you can't target a planeswalker with Shock, you can target your opponent with Shock, and then as Shock resolves, choose to have Shock deal its 2 damage to one of your opponent's planeswalkers. If you do, two loyalty counters are removed from that planeswalker. # You can't choose to split the damage between a player and a planeswalker. In the Shock example above, you couldn't have Shock deal 1 damage to the player and 1 damage to the planeswalker."
Up until Dominaria, noncombat damage dealt to players could be redirected to a planeswalker they controlled. Punishing Fire was printed while that redirection rule was in place, so it was always able to hit planeswalkers. Its Oracle text was updated to "Punishing Fire deals 2 damage to any target." to reflect its original usage with the new rules.
@@MISAKA-cd2hq Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in terms of lore aren't players considered planeswalker and that's why "player" and "planeswalker" were mostly considered the same for targeting when planeswalker cards were introduced (though outside of damage I can't think of any effects that target players that would've made sense on planeswalkers)? I guess it's essentially the same for attacks as well, isn't it? You used to target players and then you could target either players or (other) planeswalkers.
such an amazing video that had me on the edge of my seat I cant believe Thoralf managed to take the win like that, Cant wait to see more 60 card gameplay in the future
It's super sad to see Carl, who I normally think as one of the weaker players on the channel, cleanly outplay Thoralf from start to finish and still lose. This was possibly his best performance in any video I've seen and it just wasn't enough.
I was devastated when Carl tried digging for the Punishing Fire and just couldn't get it. And then Thoralf got the Swords that he needed. It seemed like Carl had this one in the bag and he just didn't get the one card he needed.
@@benbarclay4239 How so? As far as I could tell, Jace's ultimate was Thoralf's only remaining win condition. Punishing Fire would've made it so Thoralf could never get to ultimate, and Carl would eventually either get through with Marit Lage or with Field of the Dead zombies.
Hey Carl, I know you’re a very busy guy. But I noticed maybe one editor added this feature in 47:53 where they make a pointer to tell us which cards you’re putting to the bottom of your deck, and I really appreciate it, because it helps me learn without having to rewind, which cards you chose to mulligan to the bottom. So kudos for that small feature. I hope I can see more of it in your videos, sorry for adding more work for the editors.
I added that pointer from a suggestion from the viewers and I put it in all videos with hands displayed. I'm happy you enjoy it :) it only takes me a few seconds it's not that bad
@@CardmarketMagic really helpful, i rewind a lot when watching videos where there’s a mulligan. It’s very educational to be able to see how you weigh which cards to send to the bottom. Thanks!
Not to be a downer, but game three is mathematically over, if Carl had just accepted that he's going to get Jace ulted and took a different line instead of digging for Punishing Fire. There's a second Rishadan Port in the Graveyard (41:51), we could just return that, Wasteland and one random land, tap both of Throalfs Plains with our two Ports on his turn and Wasteland the Karakas. Now Thoralf has no mana and no cards in hand. Even if he topdecks Plow for the Marit Lage we'll make on endstep, he can't cast it. And yes we get Jace ulted with that line, but we still have that one random land in hand, that'll become our library, so we don't lose during our drawstep. Alternatively there's only 2 more Swords to Plowshares in Throalfs deck (assuming he plays 4), which is the only card that can interact with Marit Lage (one of which Thoralf draws), since the Karakas is gone also and he can never play a blue spell. If we can fill our hand with 7 lands instead, we'll be able to make 2 more Marit Lages on Thoralfs endstep in addition to the one we have on board, by dredging Loam during our next two draw steps and still have a card to draw on our last turn after that. Since there's only 2 Plows, but we can make 3 Marit Lages, there is nothing that can save Thoralf.
That line still doesn't beat Thoralf drawing a fetch/Tundra with Swords being on top of the library (the first one, the second is nonsense since Marit Lage is legendary). It's a fine line but it's not a 100% win and probably not much better than trying to find a Punishing Fire like Karl did.
@@Willd2p2 The first line isn't 100%, but still much better, the chances of drawing the single Fetch into the two of Swords is much lower than whiffing on Punishing Fire. The second one also is actually 100%. You don't make the Marit Lages at the same time in the second line. You make the one that's on board after you get Jace ulted on Thoralfs endstep. Now on your turn you have seven cards is library, you dredge Loam instead of drawing. Thoralf drew swords on his turn and your Marit Lage gets swords so you get back Depths and Stage and make another one on Throalfs next endstep. On your next turn you have four cards in library and dredge loam again. If Throalf drew his second Swords in a row you can use Loam to get Depths and Stage back, make Marit Lage on Thoralfs endstep and there is no card Thoralf can draw, because he has already used every sword in the deck. Snapcaster/Clique is not enough either, because we can keep him off 3 mana through Port. We don't deck, because we still have one card left.
@@CostabiIe I think you underestimate the chance that Thoralf has the correct two cards (they can actually be in either order and he gets at least one top spin to find them) but I do think that first line is probably still better than Karl's. The second line still doesn't quite work as explained because you don't have the mana to do all of: finish the turn with 7 lands in hand; wasteland Karakas; and create Marit Lage on the end step of the turn that Jace ultimates. I think you do get a guaranteed 2 Marit Lage's with this line but Thoralf gets 3 draws and many looks to find swords and at least one of those turns a miracled entreat buys a turn too (relic is also an out vs this line). Again it might be better than Karl's line but is not 100%.
It's really crazy how many different outs Lands has, it felt like Carl kept having to pivot his game plan several times throughout the matches but I was surprised by how well he piloted it!

And He brought the deck to do it.
He got it, Carl didn't play the Choke on curve in Game 3 because it would have made the video too short.
@@SymmetricalDocking it also would have been countered
@@Starkipraggy He only had 2 mana and did not have a counterspell.

Carl always manages to get me on his side, no matter what deck or format he is playing. As an Amulet Titan player, seeing him pilot the lands deck so expertly is awesome
i wanted him to win so bad!
me remembering cardmarket replying to me they probably wont play legacy on the channel.
so crazy exciting that you guys did this series and played so well.
cheers!!
It took a lot of time to assemble the cards and master the decks but we got there and I'm so happy we did because this series was so fun to play :D
@@CardmarketMagic at least you can write them off as business expenses
This was the most insane match I’ve ever seen! Great work guys!
I'm really happy you enjoyed it :D is there a specific format you'd like to see for the next one?
@@CardmarketMagic Could you guys redo the series of Best Deck Ever with Best Brews per format. Have like 100 or so submissions per format and then have players test out the decks and then do a top 8 of best Brews in xyz format
@@FreshPrinceOfBelA17 that would be an unfathomable amount of work 😅 we would have to shut down the channel for months just to process all the submissions and test the 100 decks per format. But it sounds fun if it was possible!
@@CardmarketMagic maybe cut it down to 50 lol I know how magic players are always in the kitchen when it comes to deck ideas and diversity per format. I know that with many different takes on decks and archetypes, maybe have a bit of a extra work in having those decks have some tangible records of sucess from like RCQs, RCs etc
@@CardmarketMagicI feel like pauper is an awesome choice after legacy. That would give you some time to prepare for vintage😉
Beautiful play by thoralf at the end there, was on the edge of my seat the whole time
This channel is just such a blessing.
Thank you! That's really kind of you to say :D we put a lot of love and effort into these so I greatly appreciate that you enjoy them
Thoralf basically guessed Carl’s opening hand accurately, and then said “that’s probably not his hand”…oh honey
Honestly kind of sad Andrea won't get the triple crown. I am now rooting for that stack of lands who suspiciously looks like a person.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY HEART
AHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT A GAME
WHAT A MATCH
WHAT A SERIES!!!!!
I SCREAMED at the last game
I share this feeling with you
Really proud of you guys!
(Thoralf spinning the top)
If swords is the top card of his deck, it doesn't matter what he does.
I really appreciate how we get an inside scoop on their sideboard plans and in between plays. This was a brilliant expose of mental magic.
Guys can you tell me which player is playing lands? Nothing about either players outfit tells me.
I only see one player and a landlord
🤣
After this tournament, i hope we see soon tournament of vintage, would be crazy
not gonna happen unless they use proxies
Vintage is also mainly just whoever wins the dieroll.
there's also not nearly as much variance in terms of decks, its mostly just manaless dredge or artifact combo decks
@@Ornithopter470This is a huge misunderstanding of the format. Vintage decks are even more likely to run Force of Will than Legacy decks.
What a nail biter of a finale! Legacy gameplay where the players know their decks inside and out is always so exciting!
I think it's fair to say that this channel probably has some of the best magic players mixed with amazing humor. Carl is a cardmarket employee and plays on the level of a pro!
Right?? Galaxy brain plays left and right!
Proud of having chosen Miracles in the poll, the deck is so sick
Me too it's one of if not my favorite deck in all of magic although I like all UW control variants I was kinda scared near the finale but was glad tht Miracle overcame the odds it truly was a miracle
What a truly incredible series! I can't believe how it all played out :) thank you once again for sharing these games as they bring me much joy. I hope you have a great rest of your day
I'm really happy you enjoyed them :D have a wonderful day!

Gonna space this message out to hopefully avoid spoiling for people
I was rooting for miracles all game, and was scared with the beginning…but that was a GREAT show from both of you guys.

Why is it so cute when Thoralf says “Marit Large”
I had this video on in the background while I was playing some games. The game was paused for about an hour. Not a minute wasted, Thank you! ⛪vs🏝 top tier stuff lads
Holy crap what a match! Lands was so dominant for the first three games that I thought half the video would be spoiler-block filler, but then Thoralf pulled off some miracles and made an insane comeback to the game and match.

I've been rooting for Miracles the entire time since Top is one of my favorite cards because of just how insane it is in terms of card advantage, and that it came out when I started playing Magic.
Can't wait for the Vintage Best Deck Ever Tournament :P
Isn't that just vintage?
Omg what a series of games! That ending! Truly both decks lived up to their names and showed why both deserve the title of the best legacy decks ever. Amazing content. That ending was beautifully nail bitting down to the last turm. Couldnt have been more perfect.
Wow, that Bog play to “counter” his snap caster magic really impressed me with how much he knows his deck. It’s like his Batman utility belt with a bunch of gadgets and gizmos for niche issues.
This is the best video series about Magic in TH-cam, well done
The hype is real for this one!
Let's go Miracle!!

I'm really happy to hear that :D thank you for your kind words!
Great video,
also Carl if you are reading this, you still had chance even after the entreat if only you had tapped one of the plains to not die on that turn. T. stage to copy blast zone but without the counter to clear the angels.
I wish lands made it to the top 8 of the best decks of the best decks ever.
Since thespian's stage has to tap, it copies the blast zone but then is still tapped. The elspeth was what won the game; otherwise Carl gets another turn and can clear the angels. Super close though!!
If Carl ports one of the plains on upkeep he wins the game since Thoralf can't cast Elspeth.
@@iampephebin this case thoralf would have just blocked the zombies with the angles, no need to cast elspeth

25:30 Wait, does Miracles seriously not have even one Rest in Peace or a Back to Basics in the sideboard? Oh no.
Ok I promise I will never doubt Miracles ever again
Was Rest in Peace released yet? It was dropped in October 2012 with Return to Ravnica, and the infographic on the video says that the deck is also 2012, so it depends when in 2012/if people started using RIP yet
I‘m so so happy that Miracles won! Because of this deck I was looking forward to this series. It was my first Legacy decks with a lot of good memories. Through the whole tournament I thought like 10 times that this is it, the end is near. But Miracles defied the odds every time! Don‘t even let me get started on the finals…
If there ever was a fitting name for a deck, it‘s this one.
Congratulations!
Will this be in best of 5 like the previous tournaments?
Yes of course :)
Ladies and gentlemen, today we have witnessed a miracle!
What a way to end the tournament! Excellent demonstration of what both decks do in a really grindy set and couldn't ask for a more intense end to it all! Wicked plays and heck yeahh! So excited to see the next series!
3:11 Why does the *Blast Zone* enter tapped? It doesn't say on the card that it has to enter tapped, am I missing something? *{::>_
You sir, are right
Oops, it was just a missplay
Didn't matter, blast zone enters with a charge counter, so it can't blow up any tokens.
@@999lijpo999 True but is he technically allowed to bring it in tapped if it's not supposed to? For example what if there was a card that said "Destroy target untapped land" (Which there is not) but i'm just saying rules are rules.
I'm happy you enjoyed it :) I'm proud of the match even if I lost
I know I'm watching this with the benefit of seeing all the information available to both players, but it's really sad to see Carl not use hus rishadan port in the final turn or two of the last game. A port activation in Thoralf's upkeep to tap a plains would prevent the Elspeth
YOOOOOOO!!!!! This video was awesome! This may be my favorite match I’ve seen yet from this channel. Can’t wait for the next tournament.
Can the punishing fire target the jace ?
uhhh weirdly yes.
"DEALING DAMAGE TO PLANESWALKERS
If a source you control would deal noncombat damage to an opponent, you may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker that opponent controls instead.
The Oracle text got an errata
Best mtg channel on yt imo, great series, and what a fantastic grand finale
How did punishing fire target a planeswalker?
Most cards with "target creature or player" were errata'd to say "any target" punishing fire included
The oracle text got an errata, can target anything now
@@MISAKA-cd2hq Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in terms of lore aren't players considered planeswalker and that's why "player" and "planeswalker" were mostly considered the same for targeting when planeswalker cards were introduced (though outside of damage I can't think of any effects that target players that would've made sense on planeswalkers)?
I guess it's essentially the same for attacks as well, isn't it? You used to target players and then you could target either players or (other) planeswalkers.
What an absolute joy to watch you guys play this out! Keep going with this series or more tournament style content, I love these videos!

Hahaha best costume so far
some of the best matches of magic ive ever seen. really kept you at the edge of your seat.
I mean the punishing fire wouldn't have won him the game there, only kept him in it a little longer.
He should've just played Choke the first turn he could, otherwise good stuff
Thanks!
CLAP IF YOU BELIEVE IN MARIT LAGE
I really appreciate what you guys are doing man. Great magic content, fun and nicely edited. Keep it up!
Thank you :) that's kind of you to say
Marit Lage is legendary.
AHHHHHHHHHH.
(Pure hype noises)
Legacy is my favorite format you have no idea how happy this makes me. Such a perfect ending to the series!
It's really crazy how many different outs Lands has, it felt like Carl kept having to pivot his game plan several times throughout the matches but I was surprised by how well he piloted it!
