If someone is in the hound that isn't summer, I'd like ruby to have a moment where she realizes: salem obviously faced summer when she went missing, so could summer be alive but suffering somehow?
I am always curious about team STRQ's backstories and origins. I have this especulation that why Qrow's semblance is missfortune. There are superstitions that twins or siblings being born at the same time are onsidered an bad omen. And the tribe they were living were specially harsh against the siblings, specially for Qrow, since he was younger than his Raven.
This was excellent! To add onto what you said about Qrow's guilt in letting Summer go to her death it parallels beautifully with Ruby's decision in V6. Many people at the time felt as if that scene was referencing something that Summer and Qrow had gone through in the past, no one predicted that Qrow didn't follow through though. But your theory does, the look on Qrow's face when Ruby is looking up at him filled with determination, along with the swelling of Rising becoming Red Like Roses, which may be shared as Summer's theme; this may relate to Qrow accepting the choice instead of staying behind again.
Even if the Qrow is Rubys dad is true, what would change? Ruby anyways seen Qrow as a father figure. The most it'd do is that Ruby would have a bit of trust issues.. I think Summer's death might've been something to do with Raven, but not COMPLETELY on her. So basically imagine when Summer's off to the Dragon Continent. On her way there, she stumbles across Raven, who genuinely wanted to help her by telling her not to go. Summer gets angry at her for leaving and only appearing here, causing GRiMm to start coming. She continues, despite Raven's advice. On the border to the Dragon continent, she activates her eyes but she failed to get rid of all, leaving her tired and attacked. Salem was alarmed by the flash, comes over, and then she says what Ruby said and then died after due to GRiMm and exhaustion from silver eyes. Raven sees her leaving and when she is attacking the GRiMm and then a loud scream and apology, leading her to be mentally disturbed and somewhat traumatized. She hides the truth because she doesn't want to remember it. It's help her not be completely being unlikable, this is why I HATE the "Raven killed Summer" theory. She's morally grey, not evil. A bit less predictable
I wish that would give us a team STRQ story. They teased it for April Fools’ at one point, and I’ve always wondered. Perhaps after the main story is over we will get it as a side thing, or perhaps they might be covered in a novel by E.C. Meyers, similarly to how Roman and Neo were.
I’ve always thought that while qrows loved summer, summer had a similar thing with tai, and that she was pining after him the entire time and that when raven left the picture, as much as it was her genuinely wanting to help and be there for her friend there was this little devil on her shoulder telling her that this was her chance and that she needed to take it, and I think she listened to that devil and basically seduced tai leveraging his distraught state to give herself an opening, which I get sounds really bad but I think time shows it may have been a bit of a dick move but it worked out. (I think she probably tried to resist thst devil on her shoulder for a while but eventually something happened and something happened maybe like tai got drunk and ended up in her bed idk doesn’t matter but she tried to resist but eventually her will to resist taking advantage of the opportunity to get with tai broke down and we see the results) I like this idea because it explains to me the quick time it took for ruby to be born, and also gives summer a flaw or st least a mistake like all the other strq characters. It also gives the two pairs a nice parallel to jnpr we get a relationship being one pair, and the other pair had the both of them pining after someone else, qrows being like Pyrrha pining after jaune or in this case summer and summer pining after tai, in this case we get the difference being that summer got her chance and she took it to express or fulfill her unrequited love, but qrow never got that chance. I really just wanna see tai fight, I feel like he may very well be the strongest one out of the bunch, I just don’t think raven would allow herself into any kind of relationship with someone who couldn’t at least hold his own against her, in fact I feel like she wouldn’t fall for anyone if they couldn’t beat the shit of out her. On top of the fact that I’m assuming that each member of team strq is comparable to a member of rwby in that case we have Summer-ruby: this one is obvious Taiyang- yang: I mean once again obvious they both seem very similar and get along, sure there are some differences but taiyang is very much a yang who dogs knocked down twice and never got back up, like imagine if yang loses her other arm in like 2 volumes and she just gives up that’s tai, he lost raven and he got back up and kept going like yang with her arm and then he lost summer and he never got back up. This is where it gets tougher there are a few arguments Raven- Blake: this comparison we interpret raven as the Blake who never came back or rejected support from her friends, specifically tai making the comparison between taiyang and his daughter. This I think is how most see raven. Raven-weiss: in this situation we interpret raven this way as like the weiss that never got over her abusive family and her issues stemming from that, she didn’t reject her tribe or family, she went back and kept in doing what they did. Qrow-Weiss: this is a really strong comparison until you consider these comparisons seem to be that every member of team strq is like a member of rwby where something that went right for the rwby member went wrong for the strq member, this does not work here because in this situation they have very similar arcs of rejecting their absurdity family and finding their own place, maybe this is supposed to represent that he ended up better then his teammates but maybe instead it’s a Weiss that ended up in a new messed up family? You could argue qrows relationship with the ozluminati is almost abusive or at least not healthy. You could also argue that the new family fell apart and that was the problem but did how strong this is. Qrow-Blake: I think in terms of dynamic in the team this is probably pretty accurate and I can see qrow feeling guilty about his past and being distant like Blake, maybe in this situation he is the Blake who instead of getting support from her teammates watched as her teammates fell like dominoes leaving her alone. This makes me think they had similar roles in the team in a fight too and I think this fits that makes Summer- the Grimm specialist and team leader Qrow- either very evasive like Blake or support like Weiss I think it’s safe to say from what we have seen he was the Blake Taiyang- the brawler/tank of the team, this is what makes me want to see him fight so much yang is by far the most skilled member of her team it’s not even close honestly, which with all the parallels makes me think taiyang was by far the best of his team and seeing how completely insane the others are he woudl have to be truly incredible for this to be true. Raven- the Weiss if the team a support, this fits well with her semblance I think and her dust blade, imagine her teleport people out of danger before they get hit or teleporting right behind enemies near others etc...
Very interesting! I think for the Qrow-Weiss comparison, Qrow left his family for his team and then his team fell apart, and at that point he had burned all his bridges with his family. In contrast, Weiss left her family for her team, which is not falling apart, and she also seems to be mending her relationship with her family in Volume 8. So we see that Qrow lost both his family and his team, Weiss succeeded in keeping both.
Okay Yang as much as I love her, she's tied for most skilled. Blake is quite skilled, Ruby is trained by one of the best scythe masters to ever exist. Weiss needs to either stop slashing with a triangular rapier or switch to a saber like Winter.
I hope Qrow's semblance evolves in the upcoming volumes. I'd wonder how that'd work, but considering that Ren's wasn't something I'd ever expect, I'm sure anything could happen, even if it was as simple as him being able to control when his bad luck was active.
to me it would be best if Qrow's bad luck affected ironwood's robot arm. Given it was slapped on in under a few hours and has exposed wiring, it could fail at any moment. plus bad luck in a time of war is real bad
I don’t think he’d be able to turn it on and off, but maybe he’d be able to better regulate the severity of it. Qrow reminds me a lot of someone who’s suffered serious mental abuse because of a chronic illness. He can’t regulate his symptoms and he’s gotten so used to people blaming him for it that he internalized it and started blaming himself. Getting rid of it is impossible, but regulation might not be. I don’t expect it to be something he can do all the time, some days will always be better than others, but even managing to gain a little control can change a life. And honestly, I think that’s what Qrow desperately needs.

Well I mean rebounds are a thing, and letting your friends dictate the people you get to have relationships with us kinda childish. I imagine Tai was desperate for someone to lean on when Raven left him and Summer was the first person to reach out to him. Romantic relationships can form rather quickly, especially if you’re close with the other person. It’s pretty simple, I think. No love triangle, just a man desperate for a friend, who ended up becoming more.

Picture it like this: If you were the writer of a big series, and people were theorizing something you had big plans for, would you just confirm it and let them be bored and expectant when you reveal it, or would you lead them off the trail, so that it becomes a real emotional drama bomb for when you do reveal it? The writers aren't trying to hate us, they're trying to throw us off so more people with be surprised and into it with big reveals

I love this! Im still expanding on my theory that Summer is the Summer maiden.. that she sealed heself in the vault as a last line of defense against salem if she started her conquest. Training and maybe meditating to strengthen herself. All weve gotten is a bunch of vague lines of “shes not comming” or “your mother said that too” i think she knew the gravity of the situation and made a choice. Kinda like another person was going to make a maiden choice. This could also tie in qrow cause he was there when she made the choice. Very great video though! We may never really know
I think qrow being ruby's dad is still a possibility. Primairly for writing purposes . One point that got brought up was that rwbys writing isn't very explosive, its more subtle. But there are moments like the end of season 3 which are an exception. My theory is that they are using a bunch of minor hints and subtle suggestions to lead to an explosive reveal. Personally I think that either in this season or the next one. There is gonna be a critical moment and Qrow saves Ruby's life. In that moment I think the history of the team will get revealed, and Qrow will be revealed as Ruby's father as he dies. This leads to MASSIVE explosion from her silver eyes that make the trauma from Pyrra seem minor. It might even be what takes out the whale and ends the crisis in Atlas. After next season of course they will have another version of the season 4 trauma recovery, but because of the bomb drop ruby would have to reveal to yang they aren't full sisters, which I feel would deepen the divide we are currently seeing. Plus I think the season after we are gonna see ruby and maybe yang go home for a while. After an awkward talk with Tai about the past, I think yang will be all bitter, and probably sneak out in the middle of the night and head for her moms camp. Both to have some semblance of a relationship with her, and because she feels the same doubts about everything. Which will eventually lead to a clear story about yang having these doubts but making different and much better decisions than her mom. We might even get raven redemption ark
This is still my favorite theory: it would make sense as to why Qrow distances himself, why Qrow is so close with Ruby and hardly has interactions with Yang (not to say that they aren't close but we don't seem them interact nearly as much). And I always hated the idea of Tai being with both girls on his team too. Qrow could have taken off when Ruby was a baby because he was scared he'd hurt her. I mean, his character song literally says stuff like "I'll just bring you harm" and the one that stands out to me, "you don't want the burden of my name". Everyone immediately discredits this theory because "MONTY SAID TAI WAS HER DAD". But Monty was a great writer... why would he openly admit what would be such a big plot twist? It's a very reasonable idea.
Qrow's semblance had nothing to do with her death so we can throw that one out of the thorey jar since it's confirmed Summer practically soloed a whole army of Grimm by herself(perhaps even a few of salems forces and then eventually Salem herself)
I love this theory, it will most likely coke this volume as parallels to Summer seem to be hinting with Clover. Or maybe in Vacuo, as Tyrian is there and a rev- I mean rematch is necessary. I can't remember the exact line, but in one episode I think it's Tai who implies that he and Raven had to leave Beacon early because she got pregnant. It's a very vague line, that I might be taking out of context.

Given when port and Obelic were talking about Tai when he was young. "The Brawnin twins were interesting to say the least" "That certainly didnt stop young Tai, Ohho" making it seem like Tai was hitting on both Qrow and Raven. Plus given that Qrow and Tai are keeping the bigger details out from Ruby and Yang, I would think Tai had been cheating on Raven and that's part of why she left or at least summer had made a move on Tai that raven did not like. I know it can be a reach on that but sometimes the best of people had the darkest secrets.
I'll be honest, I think Qrow being Ruby's dad would be boring. I think there's a better story to be told of the drama between Summer, Raven, and Tai and how those feelings all developed.
My issue with all this, is that Qrow isn't particularly concerned with Ruby. Sure he cares about her, but during the battle at Haven when she went down he wasn't really bothered (too busy standing by the farmboi instead), or right now he's brooding but at no point he wonders what the others are doing. Which is kinda annoying me btw. To me every times he gets in broody mode and "woe is me" crap I just can't stop thinking "dude, your nieces are right. here.
At this point, neither Ruby or Yang are caring about Qrow, and vice versa. It's surprising because for the entirety of volume 6, Qrow was spending the entire time trying to protect Ruby.

And at least Yang is busy enough to not have time to think about Qrow, while Ruby is shown thinking about him multiple times: noting she doesn't know where he is, then getting angry at Harriet when she does mention he's in jail, and proposing to go rescue him and Robyn.
They had the chance to do some tragic story filled with juicy drama that would explain why Qrow is the way he is... but that was ruined in vol 7 with the reveal that Qrow doesn't know where she went. That means he hasn't even seen her body. Geez. I wanted him to blame his semblance for getting Summer killed but since he wasn't there... oh well

I personally don’t believe the theory, but I know better than to take a creator’s word for it at face value. As a creator myself, if it were true I definitely would have lied. So something I would like to point out is that if you're next to someone in the acronym you are partnered with them so the teams would have been Summer and Tai and Raven and Qrow. Also Ruby and Yang wernt eamed up because they didn't meet each other first during the trial. Sibling relationship had nothing to do with it.
It's lucky that team STRQ grew up in a time of peace where Summer didn't have to worry as much about being hunted down by agents of Salem for her silver eyes. Also makes you wonder if Summer was told about her silver eye powers at a young age by one of her parents or if she didn't know about it until Ozpin informed her. Did her parents know? Would they push her to be a hero or would they try to tell her to hide it? I wonder if her childhood was filled with people telling her that she had the power to help the world, but then after fighting Grimm and learning about Salem led her to hope that Ruby wouldn't succumb to the same path in life. Or if she would've wanted Ruby to know and trained her herself, but Tai chose to keep silver eyes secret from his daughter... I'm so dumb.. sitting here thinking about Ruby's *grandparents* as if that will EVER be relevant, lol.

I hope Qrow's semblance evolves in the upcoming volumes. I'd wonder how that'd work, but considering that Ren's wasn't something I'd ever expect, I'm sure anything could happen, even if it was as simple as him being able to control when his bad luck was active.

to me it would be best if Qrow's bad luck affected ironwood's robot arm. Given it was slapped on in under a few hours and has exposed wiring, it could fail at any moment. plus bad luck in a time of war is real bad
I don’t think he’d be able to turn it on and off, but maybe he’d be able to better regulate the severity of it. Qrow reminds me a lot of someone who’s suffered serious mental abuse because of a chronic illness. He can’t regulate his symptoms and he’s gotten so used to people blaming him for it that he internalized it and started blaming himself. Getting rid of it is impossible, but regulation might not be. I don’t expect it to be something he can do all the time, some days will always be better than others, but even managing to gain a little control can change a life. And honestly, I think that’s what Qrow desperately needs.

Well I mean rebounds are a thing, and letting your friends dictate the people you get to have relationships with us kinda childish. I imagine Tai was desperate for someone to lean on when Raven left him and Summer was the first person to reach out to him. Romantic relationships can form rather quickly, especially if you’re close with the other person. It’s pretty simple, I think. No love triangle, just a man desperate for a friend, who ended up becoming more.

I'd prefer Qrow to have actually been with Summer and something happened and that's why she stayed with Tai. Maybe she was in hiding and was with him only for protection while Qrow sought out Salem. Idk I just think Qrow x Summer has ALOT more opportunities from a writing perspective than Summer having no girl code.

Picture it like this: If you were the writer of a big series, and people were theorizing something you had big plans for, would you just confirm it and let them be bored and expectant when you reveal it, or would you lead them off the trail, so that it becomes a real emotional drama bomb for when you do reveal it? The writers aren't trying to hate us, they're trying to throw us off so more people with be surprised and into it with big reveals

I love this! Im still expanding on my theory that Summer is the Summer maiden.. that she sealed heself in the vault as a last line of defense against salem if she started her conquest. Training and maybe meditating to strengthen herself. All weve gotten is a bunch of vague lines of “shes not comming” or “your mother said that too” i think she knew the gravity of the situation and made a choice. Kinda like another person was going to make a maiden choice. This could also tie in qrow cause he was there when she made the choice. Very great video though! We may never really know

I think qrow being ruby's dad is still a possibility. Primairly for writing purposes . One point that got brought up was that rwbys writing isn't very explosive, its more subtle. But there are moments like the end of season 3 which are an exception. My theory is that they are using a bunch of minor hints and subtle suggestions to lead to an explosive reveal. Personally I think that either in this season or the next one. There is gonna be a critical moment and Qrow saves Ruby's life. In that moment I think the history of the team will get revealed, and Qrow will be revealed as Ruby's father as he dies. This leads to MASSIVE explosion from her silver eyes that make the trauma from Pyrra seem minor. It might even be what takes out the whale and ends the crisis in Atlas. After next season of course they will have another version of the season 4 trauma recovery, but because of the bomb drop ruby would have to reveal to yang they aren't full sisters, which I feel would deepen the divide we are currently seeing. Plus I think the season after we are gonna see ruby and maybe yang go home for a while. After an awkward talk with Tai about the past, I think yang will be all bitter, and probably sneak out in the middle of the night and head for her moms camp. Both to have some semblance of a relationship with her, and because she feels the same doubts about everything. Which will eventually lead to a clear story about yang having these doubts but making different and much better decisions than her mom. We might even get raven redemption ark
This is still my favorite theory: it would make sense as to why Qrow distances himself, why Qrow is so close with Ruby and hardly has interactions with Yang (not to say that they aren't close but we don't seem them interact nearly as much). And I always hated the idea of Tai being with both girls on his team too.
Qrow could have taken off when Ruby was a baby because he was scared he'd hurt her. I mean, his character song literally says stuff like "I'll just bring you harm" and the one that stands out to me, "you don't want the burden of my name".
Everyone immediately discredits this theory because "MONTY SAID TAI WAS HER DAD".
But Monty was a great writer... why would he openly admit what would be such a big plot twist? It's a very reasonable idea.

Qrow's semblance had nothing to do with her death so we can throw that one out of the thorey jar since it's confirmed Summer practically soloed a whole army of Grimm by herself(perhaps even a few of salems forces and then eventually Salem herself)
Summer ain't soloing Salem, that's impossible, that's why summer is most likely dead.

Given when port and Obelic were talking about Tai when he was young. "The Brawnin twins were interesting to say the least" "That certainly didnt stop young Tai, Ohho" making it seem like Tai was hitting on both Qrow and Raven. Plus given that Qrow and Tai are keeping the bigger details out from Ruby and Yang, I would think Tai had been cheating on Raven and that's part of why she left or at least summer had made a move on Tai that raven did not like. I know it can be a reach on that but sometimes the best of people had the darkest secrets.

I'll be honest, I think Qrow being Ruby's dad would be boring. I think there's a better story to be told of the drama between Summer, Raven, and Tai and how those feelings all developed.
My issue with all this, is that Qrow isn't particularly concerned with Ruby. Sure he cares about her, but during the battle at Haven when she went down he wasn't really bothered (too busy standing by the farmboi instead), or right now he's brooding but at no point he wonders what the others are doing.
Which is kinda annoying me btw. To me every times he gets in broody mode and "woe is me" crap I just can't stop thinking "dude, your nieces are right. here.
At this point, neither Ruby or Yang are caring about Qrow, and vice versa. It's surprising because for the entirety of volume 6, Qrow was spending the entire time trying to protect Ruby.
@@jt_mendez Qrow did jack to protect Ruby in V6. He just spent all his time ignoring her and get hammered until she put the foot down.
And at least Yang is busy enough to not have time to think about Qrow, while Ruby is shown thinking about him multiple times: noting she doesn't know where he is, then getting angry at Harriet when she does mention he's in jail, and proposing to go rescue him and Robyn.

They had the chance to do some tragic story filled with juicy drama that would explain why Qrow is the way he is... but that was ruined in vol 7 with the reveal that Qrow doesn't know where she went. That means he hasn't even seen her body.

So something I would like to point out is that if you're next to someone in the acronym you are partnered with them so the teams would have been Summer and Tai and Raven and Qrow. Also Ruby and Yang wernt eamed up because they didn't meet each other first during the trial. Sibling relationship had nothing to do with it.

It's lucky that team STRQ grew up in a time of peace where Summer didn't have to worry as much about being hunted down by agents of Salem for her silver eyes.
Also makes you wonder if Summer was told about her silver eye powers at a young age by one of her parents or if she didn't know about it until Ozpin informed her.
Did her parents know? Would they push her to be a hero or would they try to tell her to hide it?
I wonder if her childhood was filled with people telling her that she had the power to help the world, but then after fighting Grimm and learning about Salem led her to hope that Ruby wouldn't succumb to the same path in life.
Or if she would've wanted Ruby to know and trained her herself, but Tai chose to keep silver eyes secret from his daughter...
