I've thought I'm just going crazy with m1lp and m1rp. Like each time I thought I had it figured out the next pattern says the opposite to what I thought. But maybe this is the reason considering I knit also Petiteknit and MFTK. I've been also sticking to the way you explained also.
YES to the m1r/m1l on the purl side discrepancy in PetiteKnit patterns!!! I now just completely ignore her instructions for purl side increases. I abide by the Purl Soho tutorial. I also thought I was losing it when I first noticed the issue lol
I vote for the Flurry purely because I’m a bit bored of so many podcasters knitting PK and MFT patterns 😉 Would be nice to see a less frequently featured designer in the spotlight for a change. Of course, this item is for your wardrobe, so you must pick what you think will suit you the best. Thanks for a such a happy podcast. 😊
Would love to see you do the Eva cardigan, as I would love to try it but am slightly intimidated! Thanks so much for your fun filled informative podcasts, always great fun! 🙏
I have totally noticed a discrepancy between directions for m1p in patterns. I couldn’t tell you if it was petite knit or not since it as a while ago. I think in the end, as long as you are consistent, no one will notice if they slant is the wrong way. I like the polished look of the Eva cardigan. Great podcast Vanissia!
thank you for confirming ! and yes, at the end of the day, it's not too bad, but it can be so hard to visualise what needs to be done at what side and on which side aha !
Nice to see you back. You look amazing in the Helix sample. Living in Scotland, you'll get lots more use out of your Winter/Autumn knits so it makes sense not to rush into warmer season knits!
Thank you for this video, I always enjoy watching your channel! 😊 I also recognized the mistakes in Petite Knit's "make one right/left" in purling. Right now, I am working on the Storm Sweater and fixed the mistakes. But for a long time I really doubted myself and my skills. So helpful to know that you had the same problem!
And it's so great that others responded to the issue as well! Now I know which tutorials I can watch for that. Thank you for giving the discussion a start. The knitting community is such a great thing ❤
"If you can't be extra in your knitting, when can you be?" My favorite recent quote of yours! I am going to write that into my journal. I really enjoyed your podcast, as always. Cheers!
I like the Flurry cardigan because of the rounded neck opening and the pockets. I will be adding that to my favorites. I do socks two at a time otherwise I'm afraid I would only do one. That way they both come out the same and they are both done. Love your podcasts, thanks for sharing.
Icelandic bind off is my favourite for garter stitch too. For some reason having preferences for cast ons and bind offs gives me so much satisfaction, it makes me feel like a proper knitter 😂
Another wonderful podcast thanks Vanissia! For the 3 cardigans you're wondering about ... may I suggest you just go in the order of your choice and make all 3! 😁 I am loving the look of your Friday Tee! Happy knitting!
I also find that there’s inconsistency in the m1l and m1r when working on the wrong side of a fabric in a pattern! I think that it’s because sometimes they’re referencing a make one right on the right side so it’s actually a make one left on the wrong side…. I hope that makes sense! I vote for the Eva cardigan! I’m working on it now and it’s really fun.
Ohh, I have Cardigan no.8 and Eva Cardigan in the top of my queue and I already swatch for both of them 😊 It would be so fun to cast on one of them with you! So I'm voting for one of those two 🤗 I'm not a summer garment knitter so I'm still deep in lightweight sweaters and cardigans knits 😅 And I definately join you on Friday live, cannot wait!
I’m so glad that you talked about the m1p stitches being different. And, I also agree that PK’s technique for dealing with the jog in stripes does not work for the Friday Tee (the first stitch is a purl). Thanks!
I'm not a shawl person but your birds of a feather might have changed that 😅 it looks great! If you lose motivation for the 2nd sock would you try making them two at a time on magic loop? It's the only way I make socks!
Yay, a Live! Hopefully I can make it. I'll be mostly knitting wools until we hit a heat wave. There are a couple summer garments I want to make but I am much more keen on my wool projects. For the cardigans I can highly recommend both the Eva and the No. 8. I have made both twice (actually still working on my second Eva). Both are great patterns. I think they do have a different vibe. Of course yarn choice can change that a bit. The No.8 is more of a boyfriend vibe. I throw mine on over literally everything and it looks good and cozy. But I wouldn't wear it to go out to a nicer restaurant (not that I do that much lol). The Eva is also cozy but definitely a bit more polished. Those two are my perfect everyday cardigans and I wouldn't be surprised if I keep knitting them in different colours and yarns over the next years (alongside new patterns lol).
so glad you’re back! i think ive checked your page like 3 times hoping to see another video! i think the eva cardigan would be best for the spring weather, hope that helps your decision paralysis :)
Hi Vanissia, glad to see you back, I’ve missed you and your beautiful projects. I love the Lauder vest, you did a gorgeous job! I am also glad that you are enjoying knitting from your queue as I am trying to do as well, along with trying to keep a pair of socks going always. I made 3 summer tops last summer and love them all, but have no immediate plans to make more because they need to be washed more often than wool and the plant fibers take forever to dry! Do you find that as well? My vote is for the Eva Cardigan (the Flurry is my second choice). Hope to be at the live podcast tomorrow!
I have been curious about anke strikt's patterns and would love to hear your thoughts when you're working thru the Flurry cardigan!!!! I really enjoy her use of texture
WOW the helix halter looks MAGICAL the colors suit you really well as I understood, you don't seem too happy with it (the size) but even like this it looks really good on you It's not my style at all, so it surprises me that I like it so much! keep going the way you are! really love your videos :D
I vote for the My Favorite Things cardigan, I'm a sucker for tweedy yarns! I have a lot of winter knits that are languishing because they're on "boring" parts, and I need to finish them, but I'm dying to cast on summer knits... so instead of either I'm obsessively working on socks haha
I can’t recall whether you’ve ever gone up a needle size for sleeves. Just thinking your Friday tee would be a good candidate for that because of the ribbing and because you’ve dropped a needle size for the body. I’m just knitting a Little Love Cardigan by ANKESTRiCK and the sleeves are hella tight, which is probably what put it in my head. The pattern is well written and the shawl collar is really nice as a warm, wooly layer on your neck so the Flurry would give you that. I do love the Eva, though…
I've struggled with m1l & m1r.... although, I have knitted only 3 sweaters ever. And...none of them are petite knit or mftkw. I think it's just a thing.🤔 Wondering if I missed the finishing of your crochet backpack? I've been scaling back streaming time. I bought that pattern after seeing yours and would love to see how I went. Casting my vote for the Cardigan No 8😊
ahhh you didn't miss it, it's back in hibernation ! very demanding, to always have the chart row for row, but it will get done, I still want the finished project !
I would love to hear a more technical explanation of how you spit splice different colours 🙏 how do you calculate the length to where the colour change will happen and make sure to join at that point? I hope my question makes sense. I've heard about this before, but I don't know how to do it.
The Eva cardigan i think. The size on the model looks horribly oversized though. I'm not a fan when there's to much ease, it looks sloppy and looks like it was made for someone 6 ft. tall and 250 lbs and not your trim frame. I love the blue shade of your latest cast on! It's gorgeous!! Can't wait to see it with more progress.
i definitely would go down a size for that or the cardi no 8 ! gone are the days i make things with 30cm ease, my tastes have slightly changed aha (and they will change again). And yes, i really want to make more progress on that, it's so tiny!
Eva cardigan would be neater under a coat/jacket. Sadly I’m not able to join you on Friday the 19th. Will have a little look later. Love all your projects especially the Friday tee. Enjoy 😀
I also noticed that PK's definitions of the increases on purl side are different from 'general' definitions. 😄 I hope, as you said, that it is not just a random typo and that there's some logic behind it.
I think I remember seeing in one of her patterns (can't remember which one) that some instructions were "mirrored" to what is normal since she always looks at it from the right side point of view. That'll make sense if her description of m1Lp is right leaning, since it from the right side will be left leaning (if that makes sense?)

i'm so glad others have thought so too !

thank you for saying !! I was surprised i wasnt hearing this much !

totally get that !! i definitely will make all 3
Would love to see you do the Eva cardigan, as I would love to try it but am slightly intimidated! Thanks so much for your fun filled informative podcasts, always great fun! 🙏
have been wanting to do it since i came out for sure ! and thank you for taking the time to say!

thank you! and yes, definitely learned that last summer, it just doesn't get warm enough !
Thank you for this video, I always enjoy watching your channel! 😊

thanks for confirming that too !
I say Eva cardigan too!! Thanks for another great episode
Yay! Thank you!
Your yarn choices always seem spot on! Love the Lento- again perfect yarn! I find all your projects to be just lovely!
Thank you so much! definitely has improved over time aha

I’m so looking forward to next week ❤
Thanks for keeping me company while I’m knitting tonight!
it's going to be so fun and yarny!
Awesome video! I vote for the My Fav Things cardigan. Looks so cozy and love the pockets!
Thanks for voting! love the pockets too to be honest
so happy to have a new episode from you ! the Friday tee is just 🔥see you on Friday !!!
aww thanks !! will be knitting on the friday tee on friday lol!
Another wonderful podcast thanks Vanissia! For the 3 cardigans you're wondering about ... may I suggest you just go in the order of your choice and make all 3! 😁

can't wait to see your Eva !
I’m currently on the sleeves on the Eva cardigan and it has been a super enjoyable knit! The fit is great too, so I would go with that one.
Thanks for sharing!!

Another great podcast, love your Lauder Vest.
Thanks so much!

I have been curious about anke strikt's patterns and would love to hear your thoughts when you're working thru the Flurry cardigan!!!! I really enjoy her use of texture
the underdog pattern! Definitely want to do it asap for the fun texture and also this very long cardi seems cosy af
WOW the helix halter looks MAGICAL
the colors suit you really well

ahaha i think the weather has really not helped put me in the mood for summer and im still craving winter woollies !

that's true, it's a good tip ! Definitely need to do that in some projects (but not all). Really want a shawl collar !

Great video, I just (finally) joined the Discord server! Lets hope I keep checking it :)
Welcome aboard!

yes, i see what you mean, ill address that in the future !
beautiful projects!
Thank you! 😊
I’m making the garden cardigan by ankestrick and I’m loving it!
Sounds great! i do like this pattern :D
Love, love, love the hairdo.
thank you!!
I love that Helix top! ❤
thanks x
Couldn’t wait for another episode! For me the cardigan no 8 wins🥰
Yay! Thank you! I love the pockets for that one lol !
I feel like working through cue is a similar rush to finishing a piece. Such good happy brain chemicals 😂
Right?!
The Eva cardigan i think. The size on the model looks horribly oversized though. I'm not a fan when there's to much ease, it looks sloppy and looks like it was made for someone 6 ft. tall and 250 lbs and not your trim frame.

Eva cardigan would be neater under a coat/jacket. Sadly I’m not able to join you on Friday the 19th. Will have a little look later. Love all your projects especially the Friday tee. Enjoy 😀
thank you, it's my favourite of the moment !
hi, maybe you should do the cardigan No 8 because you are currently knitting two projects in fingering weight yarns.
Would love some stach updates
thank you! and will keep that in mind :D
I also noticed that PK's definitions of the increases on purl side are different from 'general' definitions. 😄 I hope, as you said, that it is not just a random typo and that there's some logic behind it.
thank you for confirming !!
I think I remember seeing in one of her patterns (can't remember which one) that some instructions were "mirrored" to what is normal since she always looks at it from the right side point of view. That'll make sense if her description of m1Lp is right leaning, since it from the right side will be left leaning (if that makes sense?)
