Vanissia, knit what brings you joy and talk to us about what you want to.
Don't try to change what you do incase someone doesn't want to see it. We subscribe and watch because we like what you do. You don't need to change 😊

Hi Vanissia. Never a problem with any way you want to approach and talk about your knitting. You are a joy to listen to and learn from. Remember too, if a session was too long for anyone, they can always pause and come back to it. So for me, never too long a podcast from you - so interesting. SO, I would love to win Creabea's Rhue pattern 😝 - and absolutely your single coloured version has inspired me. The fit and colour you have chosen is perfect on you, and I would be looking for a result similar to yours - prob a different yarn as not available here in NZ (as far as I know). So thanks for the inspiration definitely - GREAT fit! and great knit .... one of your best I would say. Well done to Rebecca for her clever design work. 🙏🥰

I had to laugh when you said you had 12 FOs, “But nobody wants to hear about all that”. Because my response was, “Yes, yes I DO want to hear about all 12. In great detail”. Your presentation is wonderful, like a conversation with a sweet friend. Every single thing you’re willing to share, I’ll gladly listen for hours. 😊 You amaze me with your techniques, attention to details in patterns, and knowledge of how fibers behave. I’m learning so much from you. Blessings from America. 💜

So generous of you to offer up your free pattern! I’d love to make the alder sweater 😊
In terms of the Sonja, I think I’d probably unravel. The yarn is too nice and special to be in a project that you aren’t happy with. Better to reclaim it and make something you’ll love!

I love the long videos! I watch them in chunks if I can't sit in one go and watch it all, but it's nice to have someone keep me company when I'm knitting - especially because I don't have any local knitting friends! I love your Rhua too - the construction is new to me and sounds so interesting - I'd love to win the pattern!

I love to hear whatever you have to share and long podcasts can always be paused - you should do what is comfortable for you so that you're still enjoying it and not getting burnt out or overwhelmed! Also- I am with you on wanting more winter for a bit longer. It's warmed up here the last couple weeks and I wasn't done with "cozy season"! Finally - it's so kind of you to share your gift from Rebecca. I've had my eye on her Corran cardigan for ages since I saw Martina from We Grow Wild wearing hers a lot and loving it.

I second all of the comments that your podcasts are such a pleasure to watch. I know you may not feel like you're speaking eloquently, but I love the way you speak about your knits. I also love to hear about anything that you want to talk about. I prefer longer videos, it's more knitting time! But keep yourself in mind. If talking about everything stresses you, don't do it. But if you're worried viewers will dislike going through all of your knits, ignore them! It's your channel. I subscribe for your personality just as much for the knitting. Wishing you well!

I like having all the items shown as you finish them, like this! Knitting podcasts are something I put on to have something to listen to while I'm knitting, and I often don't finish them all in one go. I just leave the tab open and come back to it when I have more time to knit. I like seeing all of the things you make and hearing you talk about them, so for me a longer video is a bonus. At the same time, if recording long podcast episodes is a burden to you, I don't think my entertainment is worth your misery.

I haven’t tried any of Rebecca Clow’s patterns yet. I was so happy when she showcased your Rhue sweater because I am tempted to knit it without colorwork also. I love the shoulder shaping. This was my first time watching your podcast and thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed your information on how much sweaters cost. Although I often splurge on expensive yarns I am trying to be more conscious of the cost. Thank you for all the effort you put into your podcast.

aw I'm so glad, thank you! And yes, I feel it's important to keep in mind that the hobby does cost money, and sometimes even cheaper yarns can produce great results, like filcolana for example ! Happy knitting :)

I like that you're experimenting and learning and reflecting. It's good to hear that on a podcast. Stuff is looking great. In terms of podcasts, I usually never show everything I'm working on or have worked on per episode. That way if I have a slow week or weeks I can fill it with those OR, I just film two with slightly different focuses and have content built up.

Thank you Vanissia for another delightful episode. The sweater you were wearing is beautiful on you, I have to confess that I’m very fond of saddle shoulder as well, the fit is so good. If I would against all odds be selected for the pattern give away, I wish for that exact pattern. I also want to thank you for the excellent tutorial on the crochet slip stitch neck finish, I just did one and I looked around for a good tutorial but that was before you published yours. It was hard to find and I’m glad you made a good one, it gives a beautiful result and this will be my go to from now on.
I have said it before and say it again, you are a natural born teacher and motivator.🥰

Thank you for your generosity, Vanissia! I would love to try Rebecca Clow's Lanark Sweater!
Also, you mentioned one of your sweaters grew a lot after blocking even though it was not superwash - the same thing happened with one of mine! I had used Valley Yarns Northampton, which is so squishy and soft, I was enjoying the knit a lot. Both garments I made with it ended up growing too much... So much so that I ended up frogging one completely, and the other accidentally felted a bit in the wash but in the end it was for the best. Don't be afraid of frogging so you make the most out of that expensive yarn!
And I don't mind at all seeing so many projects and having a longer video from you. It's a treat!

    • @thewoollyworker
      @thewoollyworker  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Another great podcast, lots of pretty fos! I actually have a store bought sweater i bought when I was a brand new knitter and the sleeves are way too long, I knew at the time that someday I would have the skills to modify it! That’s the beauty of knitting, if it doesn’t work, you can fix it or frog it 🐸 I really like Rebecca’s Corran Cardigan, it’s awesome that it comes with instructions for a round and a v neck.

Hey Vanissia! Absolutely love the Rhue Sweater on you. Love love love the color. I think you look so nice in blue! I agree with you on the "baggy trend" I like to wear baggy comfy clothes at home but when I go out I prefer a classier, fitter outfit rather than a baggy one. Also I love how long your videos are. I prefer longer videos because that way I don't have to stop every 20 minutes to look for another video to watch while I'm knitting. So, I actually enjoy the length of your videos and how much more detailed you are when talking about each project :) However, you should focus on what you want to talk about and for how long. It's your channel. You can organize it however you like. We'll be here to watch and listen and knit along with you :) I would love to win the Creabea's Alder sweater! Thank you for doing the giveaway!

I know you've talked about being mindful of not repeating your color choices with sweaters, but both of those blue sweaters just suit you so well! Regarding podcast length, just make the kind of content you want to see. We all have knitting to do; we'll find time to watch a full two hours if that's how much time it takes to go through everything. If you take that full time to talk about two garments and do it meaningfully, people will still like it :)

Hi Vanissia, long podcasts are great when I have a project that I have to look at my hands for. I can take a look when you show something interesting while listening when you are discussing it to concentrate on my work. Sort of background noise but still the information sinks in subconsciously. Your single colour Rhue sweater and your description of the shoulder construction helped make up my mind if I wanted to buy the pattern or not. So it's a two for one pattern!

Hi Vanissia! Such a thoughtful and honest episode, as always. First off, please continue to show us all of your FO’s . It is always fun and inspiring to see accessories and other smaller projects along with garments, and these can be quicker knits too meaning lots of FO’s! And good for you for sticking with your goals at the same time. Regarding the Sonja, my personal vote is to wear with sleeves rolled up and/or go with the sweater surgery, because when you described what unraveling it would entailI I could feel my panic rising LOL!!! But I know you will make the best decision for you and that very special yarn. And with the Seela, it is always nice to have an oversized comfy sweater that you can throw on while working or relaxing from home. Your family will love those beautiful gifts! And thank for offering one of Rebecca’s patterns, I would love the Stick Season. Happy Anniversary to you and Ross.

I always admire your honesty in your episodes. I think knitting less and more complex projects is you evolving as a knitter. I would definitely unravel the Sonja although I think it be quite a challenge to do this. It's the most sensible option if you want to get to enjoy the beautiful yarn. I really like the Daft Days cardigan by Rebecca.

Such a good episode! You have been busy! I’m sorry to hear your Sonja didn’t work out the way you wanted it. It might be worth wearing it with the sleeves rolled a few times to see how you like it. Just because it is the least drastic of your options. And then if you still don’t love it, unsurprisingly, I’d say frog it and make the Dropp! I love mine! I wear it all the time and the construction made it really fun to knit.

It is always so interesting hearing you talk about your finished knits, love the reflections on how fun it was to knit etc. I also finished my Sonja sweater a couple of weeks ago and the sleeves are HUGE! I think I'll unravel to make them shorter, hopefully if will work out alright. I really loved yours, hard to see the uneven color spots from a picture so depending on how much it will bother you I would think about unraveling or just shorten the sleeves.
So nice of you to have a little giveaway with the pattern! I really liked the Rhue sweater but I looove the Stick Season sweater 😊

As many have commented, we are happy to watch whatever you are happy to film. Knit what makes you happy, show us the things you want to talk about, you don't owe us anything.
With regards to your Sonja sweater, and especially as you mentioned that you're starting to enjoy more fitted sweaters, I would opt for unraveling the sweater (if that even works with the Suri) and using the beautiful wool for a new, more fitted sweater that you will enjoy much more (the Rhue looks fantastic!!), and then you will have lots of yarn left over for making matching accessories if you like, or depending on the amount it might be enough to use it in a colourwork sweater, maybe another Rhue?
Oh and I would love to also try the Rhue sweater. I already have the Lanark and Cargill patterns from Rebecca, and have both in my very large WIP pile 😅
