      I was on the USS Ashland. Ghost Ship was out on the way over or the way back? But “Not Falling” is all I listened to… and C.C.R. I did learn what depression was. Nothing like smoking a cigarette and, manning a .50 Cal and driving through the desert, up for 72 hrs straight. Good times 😏

      You should read the study that showed people that have more extreme tastes in music tend to have more (I hate this term) emotional intelligence.
      Digressing, I think that term just sounds narcissitic and fake. All it really means is someone who has developed the human condition and realizes other humans probably feel something similar.
      Emotional intellipushover. 3rd/4th wave feminist buzzword to manipulate people into always having empathy and being pushovers. And usually the ones who claim to have it are the most narcissitic main character syndrome people who want to come off as altruistic when it's either to manipulate or pander

    3 combat tours in Iraq. Mudvayne helped me get thru a lot of metal issues. Especially since my wife (back home) wasn’t giving me the support I needed. I felt alone and no one understood what I was going thru. I went to their most recent concert last year and cried almost throughout the whole concert.

    The saddest and most burdensome part of this kind of relationship is the other is never happy, and after you’ve depleted your energy, your will to continue, and stripped yourself of everything that makes you “you”, the relationship ends and you’re left with a festering shell of what you used to be, stinking of self hate and anger. It’s not an easy place to be. This kind of music helps you find a little bit of relief knowing you are not just some detritus without value.

Ive never been to therapy or anything like that. Just listing to this song and this woman talk. It sounds like the words are directed straight to me. her input at the end was so spot on. 17 years married felt like I was giving and and giving when I finally stopped the demands and all the traits of my wife showed through. till this year when she moved out and feels like a divorce is coming. I've been healing more and more feeling pretty good therapist telling me I'm doing all the positive things they want me to and set goals. no longer do I feel like i'm in a pit trying to climb out of. things will come in waves and I have the tools to make sure I no longer get knocked down.

    I listen and hear his pain because that man is me. It was both of us. No amount of therapy will ever heal the scars. Perhaps it isn't their purpose ro heal, but a reminder and a guild to why we strive for better. They teache us great lessons.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From ThriceTheThird: @GarrestheWarrior Hello! I think it is natural to be hurting even a few years after going through the loss of a significant other. Even if its through a break-up and not death. It is a similar process, and feeling that we can experience/grieve. I think the best thing we can do in these situations is try to not focus on the individual who is gone, and what they are currently up to in life. More so, focus on ourselves and our self-love/self-care. I think the best thing we can do in these situations is to try to channel the emotions from it, into self growth and becoming something better then we were the day before, even if just gradually/little by little over time. Focusing on how we can make our lives better, instead of how much better the person who hurt us' life is. I think could make a huge difference in how we feel. Regardless I hope you find what you need and can feel a bit better with time. Thank you for sharing with us what you are going through, and feel free to share more if you ever want/need. I have found that talking about what I am going through with peers in a safe environment as helped me a lot in feeling better with the emotions I am dealing with, and I hope the same for others.<3

Most metalheads hear the message that artists convey to us, other people only hear the “angry” music or screams like it’s all rage, when the message is in the lyrics and when you get that visceral feeling or goosebumps when the message seems tailored to you by the artist.

    A connection I've made with this song outside of people pleasing/anxiousness is that of forgiveness - sometimes people are forgiven repeatedly but continuously choose to cause ill will/damage etc. After a while, when they have taken you piece by piece it can feel like emotional scars are being reopened and you are left to regrow (heal) from the beginning all over again. This can help sometimes with building emotional resilience and transforming yourself from the inside out but the chaos is still felt and seen from the outside.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From toastaintbad: @jcgmusic16 Hi @HeartSupport_Fans,
      Music have so many different interpretations. It's okay to cry in a certain songs that might relate or not in a certain way. I also cry too in a few songs that I listen to. You aren't alone in type of situation. Some days you are going to happy or sad. Just remember to take care of yourself. Sad doesn't always have to be dark or negative. People do cry to make themselves feel better.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From Micro: @jcgmusic16 It's okay to cry, friend. It's okay to let the tears out. At the end of the day we're only human beings, and allowing ourselves to feel what needs to be felt can sometimes be a real crutch. Maybe this song reveals in you emotions that are usually left hidden or pushed aside, and maybe listening to it brings this opportunity to reconnect to how you feel deep inside. I know for me personally that there are songs that have this powerful effect on me of letting wounds I've been holding inside being expressed somehow. could it be through anger or tears, when I allow myself to embrace the emotion and sit with it, I usually feel a little better after. Like a weight that has been lifted thanks to the magic of music and relating to the emotions it generates in us.
      I've personally carried so much sadness in me that sometimes I wonder how I'm still functioning. Like you I'm not necessarily sad at other times, but it feels like there is this "soil" in me that is made of sadness, nostalgia, sorrow, sometimes even agony. It feels like there's a pain within that doesn't speak for one source or one time when I felt hurt, but for the accumulation of pain I've been feeling throughout my life. It's scary though because oftentimes it makes me wonder what's inside of me. It feels a little bit like looking at a very dark pit without seeing the bottom of it, wondering how high it is and if it is safe to try to explore it.
      It can be scary to feel that deep inside there's a lot of sadness, and to just not know what to do with it though. When it catches you by surprise, it can make you wonder how deep it is and for how long ar y ou going to feel sad or cry. What if you open that door,is it ever going to stop? How can you know if you'll regain some control over it or not at some point? Is it going to completely overwhelm you, making you feel like you just can't function anymore?
      Somehow, we'd rather avoid those emotions, push them away and bury them very deep - and it's a normal reaction. Still, they have a reason to be, a reason to exist, even if we might not always know why it is there at a given moment. It's okay and safe to release the tears when you need it, friend, and I hope that this time doing so brought a little bit of peace to your heart.
      Music offers these times of self-reflection and quiet where emotions happen to seem so loud inside of us. Somehow, it's a beautiful gift that we offer to ourselves and a powerful way to reconnect with our soul, but it's certainly exhausting. It takes so much energy to let ourselves *feel* and stop pushing away the things we'd rather avoid. If anything, you did well by naming and identifying these emotions when you were feeling them. I hope the sadness will give room for a lot of beauty and joy in your heart moving forward, at your very own pace.
      -Micro

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From Micro: @Evo-nt6be Oh, my friend. This is such a heartbreaking place to be in. Feeling like you are present in this world but you can't show your true self somehow. That you had to give up and authenticity in order to be accepted, loved and seen in this world. But the version of you that others see is not your true self, is not who you feel you are deep inside... So you see and feel this huge distance between what others see of you and the way you actually feel every day. You wish to start showing who you really are, but then others are used to see you differently, so there is a risk to feel even more abandoned and alone. Change feels scary and intimidating when you feel stuck under a mask that isn't yours yet allows you to function and navigate in this world.
      There is no doubt that it hurts to be in this position, and that somehow being aware of it adds even more pain to your heart. As human beings, there is nothing more beautiful and comforting but to feel really SEEN for who we are, without needing to hide anything. It offers this validation that you are enough as you are, that you belong and that there is nothing to be ashamed of when it's about the person you are. At the opposite, having to wear a mask gives this subtle narrative that you have to hide parts of you, that you would have to be ashamed of being you. It makes me thing of these games for children - where you would try to place a cube shape into a circle, realizing that it doesn't work even if you use all of your strength. It's disheartening, but you keep on trying because using the right shape *feels* wrong and unknown.
      There is something truly intimidating about learning to show our authentic selves to the world, especially when we've been so used to please others and be what they want us to be. For what it's worth, as someone struggling with social and performance anxiety, what you describe has always been a part of my life, and learning to expose more of my own vulnerability is a slow, learning process. It's hard when there's constant doubts in your mind that pressure you to be more focused on how other might perceive you and what they need of you, rather than what truly resonates with your heart.
      Sending much hugs and strength your way as you navigate this. On a positive note: you are aware of this pattern. You are not simply living it, you also have perspective over it, and that alone is a real strength to cultivate and nurture. It is thanks to this awareness that you might encourage yourself to increment small changes into your life that would allow you to get closer to the person you want to be when you are interacting with others. Being a certain way, wearing a mask, might have been a way to protect yourself and respond to needs you had previously. Now you are aware of how it works and how much you'd like to free yourself from it. There is HOPE with this awareness, my friend. Hope for change to be possible, for embracing new pathways and learning new ways to be in relation with others. I wholeheartedly believe in you. :heart:

    I love your breakdown of the lyrics. Just over a week ago, my wife of almost 10 years asked for a divorce because in her words, she wanted to have fun and she's seen how her depression brought her down, she didn't want mine to bring her down. I supported her for almost years though numerous phases of depression, anxiety, suicide attempts... Yet when I finally realized I was suffering from depression myself, there was nothing there for me. It was soul crushing. The years I tried to give everything I could then to get no help when I needed it most.

      From toastaintbad: @chadfricke-fp8ii Hi @HeartSupport_Fans,
      Thanks, for expressing your concerns! Mental health issues can be exhausting for someone to live through each day. It's good for you to communicate with your wife about the issues that you guys have going through many years. @PlatformReply I agree that it's important to take care of yourself before others. Did you explain your wife about suffering depression too? Depression is hard for others to battle because I used to have it too. I have numerous of mental health issues and keep telling myself to remain positive. Just think of your mental health issues like a wall blocking you to pass through. No one likes to be block by something to go through. Do I expect you to be happy 24/7? No!!! You are going to have good and bad days.
      I recommend to be really brutal honest on how you feel with her mental health issues. You can't always depend on your loved one to help with your depression and anxiety. I don't want anybody closed to me be more stressful with my mental health issues. People have a outside life and need to take care of themselves. It's okay to vent others but you need to remember on how your words and actions affect someone's mental health. Don't let mental health issues impact her and your marriage. I personally don't know if she is seeing a therapist for mental health issues. If your wife did divorce you, she can't be in another relationship if she doesn't improve her mental health. I hope you & your wife able to fight through this difficult challenge.

      @@HeartSupport I reread my original comment and it's almost unreadable. She suffered depression all throughout our marriage and I always supported her. After all those years, I finally needed support from her and there was none. She left to start fucking my best friend instead the same day she asked for the divorce. Needless to say, there's no marriage to save, just lives to salvage and rebuild. On the rebuilding, it's rough. Some days are harder than others. The meds help, won't lie. Progress is being made though. Lives are being rebuilt. I won't let this break me.

It feels like somehow you don't have the right to go yourself through a rough time. That you would be at fault for having similar needs she had previously. It's heartbreaking to feel like the care and love for someone isn't reciprocated. It is especially during those challenging times that we hope to rely on the people closest to us. The ones we've learn to trust with ourselves. Losing them during such a crucial time feels like hitting the nail on the coffin.
      It is completely understandable to have expected that, during your own dark times, your wife would have been by your side like you were for her. Just because that's how marriage should be - partnering through the good *and* the bad seasons of life together, not side by side. I'm sorry this has been your experience, friend. It's absolutely heart-shattering to be abandoned that way. I hope you can keep in mind that your struggles are not a fault, and that her decisions are only hers. It certainly doesn't erase the pain and heartbreak... but through all of this you are absolutely worth being supported, cared for, and loved. May the meds keep helping, and may you seek all the support you need. We're in this with you. :heart:

    She's awesome. If I ever need a therapist I'm gonna pick her.

    This song makes me think about the person that gave me so much trauma. I won't go into detail because I haven't even talked to my therapist about it. I haven't been diagnosed, but my therapist thinks I have a lot of trauma and that could be the cause of all the personality issues. But I feel the scars still ripping open part. Every day I have to deal with how awful my life was from like 5 to 27. Why I let this person treat me that way for so long? He was my brother. Dropping family isn't easy, but I'm so much happier now. Really feel the friendship interpretation though. I do that like crazy

    I've always thought that Chad was singing this to himself. When you live with the kind of trauma that Chad does, you never look outside for all the pain in your life. You always assume the failure of relationships and your world is all inside. So you rip those scars open evaluating all that pain trying to figure out what mistake you made that brought it all on yourself. So you always walk around like a raw nerve, from evaluating and over evaluating every interaction you ever have...because the one constant in all of our painful interactions and failed relationships is us. So it must be our fault right? Trauma sucks dude.
