      This and Korn for me, both amazing bands that cope with their feelings of anger and aggression in the form of music that hits the soul, DEEP. Definitely more bands out there too but I’ll always have a special place in my heart for some old school mudvayne & koRn🤘🏻 Everyone is fighting internal demons that nobody knows about which is why we all need to come together and support each other, and their music does just that!

    I have to say I’ve always interpreted this song as he was talking to a toxic/abusive person in his life. “Tear meat from the bone, tear me from my self, does it make you happy now?” To me it seems that some people are never happy unless they can hurt others. Him describing the deep despair he feels and asking if the person tearing him down is finally feeling happy now.

    • @84AlKal
      @84AlKal หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ooh... That's a good thought. I was in a toxic relationship for years and didn't realize it until it was too late to fix, but I never thought of that. Cause I kept doing that, digging the hole deeper to make the other happy and it was never enough for them.

    I'm no psychoanalyst, but here is my theory on why the video was shot in the location.
    Where they are actually performing in the video is bare dirt. Nothing. All around them was a beautiful field of flowers and butterflies. There's all sorts of happiness and beauty surrounding them, but when you are in a dark place in your life, you feel there is nothing. So they are in a place of nothing even though there is something wonderful around them yet they can't have the ability of feeling that.

    They are a band from Peoria Illinois, I had a chance to see them a couple times before they went mainstream, so the cornfields and the butterfly is something we all see. it is a perfect sight, especially with the tornados and the butterfly ends up flying away at the end of the storm. I have always liked Mudvayne since I first heard "DIG". It is crazy that I always thought of how you explained it. My philosophy and ideology has always been-You are responsible for your own happiness. My own "therapist" is my mirror. Not sure how healthy it is to talk into a mirror and ask your WTF?? But hey, it helps me. I have cut people out of my life and then be a bit sad after I shower. I look in my mirror and ask-Was I too mean, I felt diplomatic in saying goodbye. Time separates everyone, parallel paths. How happy are you in your sadness from ridding a negative energy.

    I had never considered he was talking to himself, I just assumed someone took advantage of him and left him alone once they were done with him but after you said that, I paused your video and read the lyrics. You are 100% correct. He was definitely talking to himself.

    Great reaction and lyric breakdown from your own expertise in the field of psychology. I'd be interested to hear your reaction to more of Mudvayne, specifically songs like 'Nothing to Gein' or 'Death Blooms' or 'World So Cold'. They are all interesting songs if you're looking at them from a psychological view.
    If I had to pick just one for you to react to it would be 'Nothing to Gein' though. It's a glimpse into the life of Ed Gein, the serial killer and body snatcher. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it, because it's a great reflection of the man's life. Ed was very sheltered by his mother, obsessively devoted to her, and she was kind of a puritan. She taught him of sin and how he shouldn't trust other people because they were sinful and dirty. Then she died and left him to himself. Which eventually drove him crazy without her guidance. He had left his mother's room exactly how she had left it and nailed it shut like some shrine. I really like this phrase of lyrics that reflects this:
    "Mommy, do you still live inside of me?
    I'm so lost in my life without any guiding
    Protected me my whole life from everything
    Nailed shut the doors to the shrine
    To screen your dead eyes from me and my sickness
    Mutilate and sew my new clothes for masquerading
    Aprons of flesh corpse scalped hair with skin upon my face"
