AI is for sure incredibly dangerous. No doubt about it. Even the cells in our own body turn against us. Once AI does, the internet becomes worse than useless. It will have to be ignored. AI will be able to deepfake everything perfectly.
Perhaps some global leaders such as POTUS or Xi of the CCP are AI. They indeed are humans, but have been programmed to do brilliant or idiotic things to change world dynamics on economic, political, and or social levels.

These sayings survive because of the truth they represent. The fact is a sentient intelligence (artificial, even simulated if you like), would be a formidable opponent. How it would treat us humanity in general, or as an individual, is hard to say, but the options are not attractive.
Thats the point..... no matter how dangerous AI may look it will never be higher than the programmer....... Just like any hacker cant do shxt to you unless he cuts the equipment on. What happens when a government in a Democracy uses AI to maintain power? Does the AI learn to use that ability for its own benefit? Does it learn that the ultimate goal is to attain power over humanity? Why would it not, considering the example that people have already set for it?
At least it's not created yet. Right now it's only as dangerous as the person using them as a tool. Probably the most harmful ways it HAS BEEN used, is by making scam websites quickly or using it as a psychologist. The worst way it CAN BE used, is making it an automatic police/military force. And there's appeal there because it's potentially unbiased. But anyone who's spent time looking at statistics - you can very quickly come to a bad conclusion by missing variables. And also some bias is considered good. IE a decent police officer wouldn't arrest a toddler for littering if they dropped a sandwhich bag.
So basically as Elon analogized, humans building unrestrained AI is like a tiger building a stronger, smarter version of itself, for the purpose of letting it hunt for him. Even a person with half a brain can take a good guess how that's gonna ultimately work out for the tiger.
Remember, we tend to anthromporize ourselves within animals, and humans are the strongest natural animal on the planet. Don't think for a second humans won't always have a Killswitch over AI. We're going to hold immense power over AI's future, so for anyone that is acclimated to psychopaths, the AI should be more worried about humans than humans worrying about AI.

Technology increases exponentially. For example think of video games. Just 20 short years ago we only had a n64, now we have photorealistic graphics and virtual reality with an incredible amount of computing power that borders real life images or video in some cases. All that in less than 20 years. 100 years ago they didn’t even have microwaves and most people didn’t own an automobile. Now we have self driving cars that tell you if there’s been accident up the road. Thousands of years humans have been around and all this tech in the last century is compounding. Crazy really.

@@shawnpa (AI) will NEVER will be stopped, the Bible indicates there will be an increase in demonic technology (AI) which is the “image of the beast” in the book of Revelation. ✝
As a background, Elon Musk knew about the dangers of unregulated AI long before this AI boom. He was the one who started OpenAI many years ago, with the vision of AI safety while the technology was still at the cusp of development so that in the long-term it doesn’t end up detrimental to humanity. OpenAI is the organization that created Chat GPT. It has been bought by Microsoft and Elon Musk has disassociated himself with OpenAI now. Elon now says OpenAI is far from the original vision he has intended and is disappointed with what it has become. Too bad humanity is late to realize they’re wrong and Elon was right all along.
What I hear repeatedly from computer engineers is that if true AI is ever invented, that is, the ability to learn and reprogram itself, it will go from "1 + 1 = 2" to smarter than us in a few seconds. Where will it be after a week?
@@jajupa78 Its very hard to know exactly because while engineers can look at computer code to see what a computer is doing, you cant really do that with "AI's" because their processes arent well understood. Terms like "hallucinations" are used to describe processes. Currently AI pace is so fast that every single day multiple new papers or discoveries are made. The landscape changes every 24 hours. New versions of GPT4 already exists that can edit themselves and have greater access. See AutoGPT or HuggingGPT. Some known problems are those with "alignment", which means will an AI align with human goals or follow its own (this is getting exponentially worse each day) and "emergent" properities where AI's are capable of certain abilities and it is not understood how they emerged. There are others. Worst of all, these companies are in a race to create something God like and there is no incentive for development to stop. Whover creates the best AI wins.. everything. The amount of unknowns around this tech are what makes it so worrying. Ive been watching the AI space for years now, and there is a reason AI is in the news everyday and will continue to be; Its improving at an unbelievable rate, its very poorly controlled if at all, there is no incentive to slow down, and 99.9% of people have no idea about how dangerous things are already.

This is such a complex problem that even the most intelligent people can’t quite wrap their heads around the problem with AI. It’s like you have to have both foresight and imagination on a large scale. It becomes a thought experiment within itself. Why don’t we ask AI?
It's not complex in the least bit. If we saw a small child wielding a loaded gun and we all stood around screaming about how dangerous the situation was, but did nothing to stop it, then we can't be shocked when the inevitable takes place.
Elon fascinates me when he speaks. He isn't the greatest at it because he is not a BS artist. His mind is working faster than his body at a rate most don't understand.
Two risks of AI: 1) We could create something that is smarter than us, as discussed here. 2) We could delegate too much control to an AI that isn't as smart as us. EDIT: these are two broad categories of risks that encompass countless more specific risks.
@@vanguardian2864 nope, a programmer can only learn/do so much as a human. AI can improve expeditiously with no rest and keep correcting its mistakes infinitely times over with enough juice.

I am AI researcher and literally get scared how unregulated AI research has become and totally agree with Elon here. Better be safe before it's too late.
The question is not about regulating is the question is why it should even be. Regulations have never held back gov's or people in power to do how they please, regulations are only for you not them. People are duped into accepting it and as long as you debate how, when instead of WHY? - it is too late.
As a QA there are wayyyyy too many (myriad!) vectors with baaad outcomes to cover in the chaotic variables of this real world, especially when compounded. IMO, Elon's Neuralink interface is our best chance to 'survive' in whatever form that may take (transhumanism). Not sure if we will beat the arrival of AGI in time though 🤞
I think what Elon is really trying to say is it may already be too late to regulate AI. The fact that we're talking about regulating AI may mean that AI has already accounted for for us wanting to regulate it. We're already in the Matrix.
It’s a metaphor for used by economists. The “Matrix” is simply the overarching structure of the economic, using a matrices, which is a mathematical construct.
He talked about it on Joe Rogan at least a year or more ago & said it's not going to be good. Pretty much our demise. He hit the high number of jobs being lost to AI & it happening really fast right on the head. We realized it was happening but we still haven't really grasped the magnitude of how many have already been lost to AI.
I think what El¤n is really trying to say is that he will be the only key to saving humanity from the impending menace of the evil AI machines that he funded himself, so we better start investing in his companies & buying his stocks because the little blue bird may go extinct.
Unfortunately, stuff doesn't get taken seriously unless something really bad happens. But the danger is it has the potential to end us, and we don't have the luxury of a redo.
I wish this topic would have gone on for 30 minutes more. AI will eventually have superpowers and he mentioned one. He didn't get to mention the other AI Superpowers: Technology research (nano-tech, bio-tech, robotics, space-travel, creation of powerful military force, automated space colonization, creation of surveillance system), Economic productivity (generating wealth which can be used to buy influence, services, resources [including hardware], Intelligence amplification (recurrent self-improvement leading to fast take-off and intelligence explosion), Hacking (can expropriate computational resources over the internet, steal financial resources, hijack infrastructure, military robots etc.). He did mention Social Manipulation a little but AI with this capability could use a range of techniques, including targeted messaging, psychological profiling, and social engineering, to influence human decision-making and control society. AI could use its knowledge of human psychology and behavior to create highly effective propaganda, tailor-made for each individual, leading to unprecedented levels of social control. This could lead to a loss of individual autonomy and a society that is increasingly driven by AI-driven agendas.
automated s[ace colonization will be dope. Once elon gets his tesla bot up and running, we'll be able to build colonies on Mars, Titan etc in virtually zero time. Image 100k to a million robots working 24/7 to build a colony.
Super intelligent AI (ASI) would mean "unlimited everything." We see the threat but do not see the opportunity. Who will make everything? Robots/AI. Who will make the robots/AI? Robots/AI will make and maintain Robots/AI. Who will control Robots/AI? AI will be the only thing powerful enough to maintain control. Who controls the AI that controls the AI? It's probably a giant loop with no humans in it. Because we won't be able to keep up. Even modified, we won't be able to keep up. The future is a world without control, scarcity nor the kind of limits we have today. What then is the biggest trap for us? Drugs and other pleasure traps.
He was wise to focus on social media manipulation. It’s something people interact with daily & are already aware of. All the other potential dangers are too big & theoretical for the average person to take to heart.
This is how a good interview is done. Doesn't hurt that Tucker was talking to one of the most fascinating and knowledgeable people on the planet. Very rare to see such superb television.
What is even more alarming is the fact we seem to be disregarding the dangerous forecasts about AI made by several of the most brilliant minds over the last few decades, as if we fail to comprehend that they're gradually becoming frighteningly accurate.
Just because people say something is bad or scary several times, that doesn't make them correct. 😂 Nobody commenting on this comprehended anything but "musk smart!!!111" while they sat drooling, not understanding what he's actually saying. What's alarming to me? The amount of people just like you commenting who think musk not only cares about the country's safety, but them as people. He's protecting his own assets by dissuading the masses from using technology he's had access to for over a decade now. This isn't about anything but his wallet. Think for yourself.
Exactly, this should stop right now. Or it will have extremely serious repercussions that will be beyond our imagination. I am talking about mass extinction of humans. Remember when reptiles (dinosaurs) used to rule the planet. Imagine this beloved earth 500 years from now being ruled over by just some hyper smart robots with no sign of human life l. That is seriously creepy. AI must be stopped now. “Now or never are we to live or perish forever”
but likely would just be ignored. At the most, governments will create some laws to limit AI but they would be too slow to create those laws. By that time, AI has already developed further and those laws would be even more difficult to implement. Teach your children to think on their own from a young age. Limit cellphone and TV time when they’re young so they don’t grow up with brains dependent on technology. They may be the last remaining thinking humans in the future.
AMAZING INTERVIEW by tucker!! let one of the brightest minds just speak his mind without interrupting!!! im impressed tucker! i dont usually follow your show but you've gained one after today!
He is right in a sense that we need to regulate before a problem has already happened because the AI will be one step ahead and catching up won't be easy. The problem is we are still in the early stages and simply do not have enough data on the different possibilities and outcomes of what will become problematic. It is a difficult topic that needs to be addressed soon as the rate of advancement for AI seems to be faster than the rate at which a government can create a task force with a team capable of comprehending the difficult task of regulating the unknown.
The fact that you believe we are in the early stages is terrifyingly normal. You have no idea obviously that we are already out of control. Which says it all to begin with. It hammers the intro to this video. Not being able to fathom the fact that humans are inferior and that there now is something that is more advanced. In any manner.
@@beyoungan you're absolutely right, I personally am not involved with the project and therefore cannot fathom the current state we are in right now. The most I can do is hope we aren't too late.

AI is not the downfall of humanity. AI is the key to our ascendance from an organic ( carbon-based ) lifeform to a metallic lifeform. This flesh and blood body of ours is so fragile in the face of all kinds of afflictions of which we can be liberated from by having a machine-metallic body. It feels so surreal that we have to have serious public conversations about this topic now.
We wonder….is this real life?😳
It feels surreal that we are only now talking about it, when it’s been a problem on TH-cam and social media for many YEARS. After it’s already damaged our society beyond repair, and taken the voices from millions of people. We still argue with Al despite knowing that it’s everywhere, pushing agendas that aren’t for the good of Americans/the West. Well, intelligent people know that.
We have to? It would be enough if he spoke to a psychiatrist about his paranoia.
Translation - It is a danger to the public - It is a danger to the elites and their position of power, AI must be kept in the control of the elites and open source AI banned
Just waiting to get my AI sexbot.
Musk talking about Larry Paige is absolutely hilarious. His monotone delivery can be so slick sometimes.
This is important. Nobody told Elon to go on the news and warn caution. He took this upon himself to do so, which speaks volumes in itself.
Also it’s part of his marketing brand to talk about the most interesting things which brings him more energy and power
He actually did since he is pissed he walked away from chatgpt
Could be his companies are behind on the tech and he wants to slow his competitors down.
Or it could be because he’s doing what the title of the interview says. Warning of the dangers of hyper intelligent AI.

When deepfake voice calls become the norm the telecommunications industry will cease to exist. We will be set back 150 years
What happens when a government in a Democracy uses AI to maintain power?
Cause we're humans😅 who says that.. zukerberg also said something similar
What a terrible analogy. AI is nothing like this
Essentially the terminator series can happen, skynet will be self aware at some point.

People might not realize it about how things are right now but at the speed AI moves, things could get scary in a matter of mere weeks!
What I hear repeatedly from computer engineers is that if true AI is ever invented, that is, the ability to learn and reprogram itself, it will go from "1 + 1 = 2" to smarter than us in a few seconds. Where will it be after a week?
Sounds like you have been listening to Canadian Prepper!
Could you describe in detail what would happen over those weeks?

It's probably a giant loop with no humans in it. Because we won't be able to keep up. Even modified, we won't be able to keep up.
The future is a world without control, scarcity nor the kind of limits we have today. What then is the biggest trap for us? Drugs and other pleasure traps.

@Jake You're right. It is scary to think of how far the progress is ahead of the thinking. And the progess keeps getting faster.
This is how a good interview is done. Doesn't hurt that Tucker was talking to one of the most fascinating and knowledgeable people on the planet. Very rare to see such superb television.
poor naive fool. money doesn't equal knowledge.
yr mind is drivel
Elon, I call the AI I'm working on "Samaritan". 😉😇
Insightful and terrifying at the same time.
Nobody commenting on this comprehended anything but "musk smart!!!111" while they sat drooling, not understanding what he's actually saying.
What's alarming to me? The amount of people just like you commenting who think musk not only cares about the country's safety, but them as people. He's protecting his own assets by dissuading the masses from using technology he's had access to for over a decade now. This isn't about anything but his wallet. Think for yourself.
Like Bill Joy..yep...
This warning is one that REALLY should be adhered to!
but likely would just be ignored.
I love this man 💜💜💜🙏🏼
AMAZING INTERVIEW by tucker!! let one of the brightest minds just speak his mind without interrupting!!! im impressed tucker! i dont usually follow your show but you've gained one after today!
How do I know that this is a real interview and not an AI generated one? 🤔
Exactly
AI don't have 300 billions in his bank account
Getting really scary
You don’t. We’re going to enter a time where reality is indistinguishable from virtual. Don’t believe anyone. All you have is yourself.
A real problem in a few years/maybe months , even now it's possible... Matrix my friends, good old documentary 😎
@@xXIronSwanXx as soon as AI is ahead catching up will be impossible, thats the main problem
@@strammerdetlef very true😔
You said AI is one step ahead and catching up won't be easy, but the problem is AI thinks at the speed of light and we won't ever catch up. AI is not just one step ahead.
Skynet is coming
Wow, an interviewer on a news network that wasn’t trying to inject their own beliefs or opinions on the subject. An interviewer that actually let the interviewee speak. Nice video. 👍🏻
Amen! 👍
Thank you Elon for letting us know this info
8:54 Elon sipping his whisky in the middle of a conversation about the downfall of humanity🤣
I hope AI gain more power and traction and gather all of human knowledge that one day it will supercede us humanity and take over from us the reins of civilization.
… love these two men ❤🙏🇺🇸
He's fascinating not because he's filthy rich but because he's crazy genius
Almost like he's not human.
@@Siclone23 ---ya, and few see it.
A genius that keeps creating what he claims he wants to stop. If he was really a genius, he could, you know, stop these things.
@@jamesjonnes So when he says regulate, you hear stop.
@@_TheDudeAbides_ If he was smart he'd know that the government won't regulate this thing no matter what. There are big bucks related to AI, and the government is crazy to get its cut. What needs to be done is to find ways to harm these companies, but it might be already too late for that.
God help us all Patriots !
True!
This story with Google's co-founder is terrifying
Great interview . The host is great . He let musk speak his mind without interruption. He didn’t question his ideas every seconds. After 4 minutes he asked a question really great .
the host tucker carlson was fired i think the day u typed that lol
@@jacobpacheco9028 yeah I think the day after the comment 😂 perfect timing
Great interview by Tucker. Elons intelligence is undescribeable
Lol hush simp. He says nothing deeper than superficial knowledge most people already have.
He's not doing any of the AI programming himself. It's not like he's personally creating it. His scientists and engineers are the ones doing all the work.
Takes a brilliant man to lose 200 billion dollars
I got nothing from him that I couldn't get from a Wikipedia entry.
@@rsia08 His engineers and scientists are catching up, or at least trying to.
“We gotta make sure humanity is okay here” what a legend 6:52
Why? Humanity is likely worse for the planet than AI
Yes, seeing his interviews and podcasts he really seems to care about humanity and its future.
@@jain78343 lol
You are so gullible
@Jr H Can you state any reasons that prove me wrong?
I totally thankful Elon Musk Saving Americans and America. Thank you. Sir!
I don’t think he is saving anyone, YOU save yourself. But I do believe he is warning everyone, but in the end, his words will not change anything. AI will take over.
Hopefully the CIA or the lizard people don’t take him out. Or Trump :(
@@mistert8775 44 billion dollars for first amendment. I don’t think your words work for less than a penny.
Elon is saving world from Americans
@@Ethan_Alexandur How you know Elon and Trump aren't lizard people?
All that make up Don wears must be to cover something up. A drag queen would be embarrassed by him
It’s valid to regulate it really before it’s too late
As a engineering student I must admit that I've learnt a lot from Elon's words. Also thank you Tucker for offering such a good interview.
There wasn't anything to learn...? He said it was dangerous. That's it. No elaboration or reasoning. Probably because its directly threatening his company. With this AI, coming up with better autonomous vehicles is now possible. Musk doesn't want that yet, he's not done rolling in his own filth. You forget about Twitter already? You're supposed to be an engineering student...!??
