This is my first pcp I got it for 300 at academy sports and I can't be anymore pleased with this rifle ,thanks for your videos they are really great for getting the info I need as a beginner air gunner thanks
As a beginner air gunner as you are Let me say this. You will always be an airgunner now..... It gets in your blood & will never leave !!! Hahahaha have fun !!!
Mine has been the same. Great first PCP purchase. Hand pump, blew it up once, cleaned and rebuilt it, better than new. Lot of junk inside from the factory. I've found the same, about max on the hammer spring--sweet spot for consistent velocities starts just at just under 3000psi...2800ish. 28-30fpe, was pretty sweet. I have the donnyfl avenger adapter coming (one that centers the barrel) so excited to plop a moderator on it!
I am a new air gunner as of October last year ,I started with a gamo whisper 22 and it's a great gun but I was amazed by how much easier the origen is to shoot accurately and I got the gun at academy off the shelf for 299 and that's a great deal ,and now I got the hatson flash 25 and I use the pump from the origen to fill both guns and it performs great ,it gets the job done you can't beat the value in the origin 22
I just ordered the origin. 22. . 3 days ago. Waiting on the blue van of happiness to pull up into my driveway !!! Can't wait to ck it out & get it shooting !!! I really do beleive it's going to be an awesome rifle !!
been a LONG time glad to see your doing fine! you fixed a air gun of mine and did an outstanding job! anyways that was was back 2011. Id love to see this gun on a night hunt with the atn I am trying to see if I want that or the thermal vision scope! as usual awesome video keep up the good work!
I get it, great choice for someones first set up! Not the top of the line beat all, but a great airgun ready to go, nothing else needed. Thanks for a great video, keep em comin!
This is my first pcp and it’s pretty good, stock is solid, fit and finish is good. I used the pump once I bought an air compressor instead. Pumping still sucks. I got a DonnyFL suppressor on it super quiet. Not bad for a starter tho
Is the bolt lever metal or plastic and what is a good reasonable priced scope for it ? And can this gun hit a 100 yards ? Or what gun do you recommend out of Umarex Gauntlet or Gamo Urban ?
Both guns are made by the same company. The avenger is an awesome pcp for folks that already have all the gear to make the most of it. The origin is great for new pcp shooters. Both are excellent guns. If you want .25 for more range and power, the avenger had that in spades. Cheers AGW
@@bratwurstbuster nah man, hes dead right. The Origin is way more friendly to us hand pumpers. He's telling you the truth. The Avenger is a better gun in almost every other way. PROVIDED YOU HAVE A COMPRESSOR.
Great video , I would get one if it was my first pcp,but I already have a few. I have been looking at the aspen or the avenger. Does the aspen seem like it would hold up if oiled like it should be? Yea I’m thinking of a survival pcp.
I just bought this gun and I almost called 911 after filling it! Before buying it I bought the benjamin trail In .25 cal. Now the pcp is fun once its filled but i don't have the fancy fill stuff. Until I've proved myself wrong i'll stick with my .25 benjamin
No comparison really. The Avenger is adjustable, side lever, Mags are not expensive under 15$ and reliable. A hand pump is under 50-60$ and some places are even less like eBay AliExpress. Avenger comes in a 50 FPE .25 caliber. It is crazy accurate also. Umarex has some very big shoes to fill.
Don’t let the glitz of the avenger fool you. If you already have a compressor or a tank that can fill multiple time to 300 bar, the avenger is a great choice. If you are brand new to pcps and have none of the gear that you need to make them work, the origin is an each choice. As a note, you are not going to hand pump the avenger to 300 bar. Not with a cheap hand pump. Maybe a Hill ($280) hand pump, but not one of the cheap pumps on eBay or amazon. Cheers AGW
For entry level you would think for the price point they would have at bare minimum added fiber optic or basic metal sights if they were not going to include a decent optic very similar to the Benjamin Maximus. However fully shrouded barrel this is in direct competition with the Benjamin Fortitude Premium Combo w/pump/scope $489.99 (airgun depot) vs buying the Origin 349.99 (airgun depot) + AXEON Optics 4-16x44mm $168 (amazon) total $517.99. It seems like a hard hitting gun however if price is what matters a slightly more economical scope can be found for around 50-140 bucks such as Hatsan Optima brand. However, for people that just want to get into air gunning in general Multi-Pump or Break Barrels are always going to be the cheaper option for just as much fun. Air being self contained given price point of any extra budgeted money can go toward quality glass for the optic.
Well, you guys have talked me into it. I've had some pretty cool break-barrels, topping out with a Gamo Swarm Maxim (which I really liked) but guess what happens to a polymer stock airgun in a fire. The insurance company screwed us on contents reimbursement ( AVOID HARTFORD!) but I did realize enough to buy an Origin and an entry grade Hatsan scope. (If you're a veteran looking for the right contact, call Pyramid Air's customer service and ask for Rhonda. She'll make your day!). I'm expecting delivery of my new best friend in about 5 days. If anyone is interested in seeing a real first impression of a first PCP rifle, just comment on this comment. How redundant does THAT sound?
This may be good for a newbie. But to say this is the best entry level PCP period is a bold statement my friend. The Avenger is more versatile, not pellet picky, shots slugs, comes in 3 caliber choices, is crazy accurate, comes with 2 Mags that are reliable and inexpensive, smooth reliable side lever cocking, adjustable trigger, the list goes on. Hand pumps are cheap on eBay and AliExpress. Umarex has some big shoes to fill IMHO. Nova Vista/Air Venturi is really hard to compete with for what all you get. I think a head to head between these two is in order. That would be a very good video.
The avenger is a great gun. For folks already shooting pcps. Both guns are manufactured by the same company in Asia. New pcp shooters need something simple and easy that doesn’t have all the adjustments. If you buy the avenger you need a way to fill it. Easy enough is you already know how all that works. If you buy the avenger and want to make use if all the adjustability you need a way to fill it fro dead empty every time you want to adjust the reg and you need a chrony to measure your results. These are not things a newbie to pcps needs to be doing on their first gun. Maybe their 2nd or third gun? Also, the avenger takes 300 bar. That’s just not practical to hand pump with each reg adjustment, or ever really. So that means a tank or compressor. So my point of the origin being the best STARTER pcp airgun package for new pcp shooters still stands. For those already into pcps and want a gun that’s easy to tinker with and is very affordable and that have all the gear to do so effectively or are willing to buy the extra gear, the avenger is the perfect choice. We’ll be getting to that rifle very soon. Great pcp, just not maybe the best as someone’s first pcp. Cheers AGW
Looks like a nice gun and a nice set-up but they should offer it without the pump for people who already own a pump and don't want to purchase another pump. I know it's geared towards the first time PCP owner so that's why it comes to the pump but there might be people who want the gun that don't need a Umarex pump.

By the way, the gun is quite accurate. basically it hits where the crosshair is at 13 yards (my indoor range) now that it is sighted in. The trigger is marvelous as is -- I haven't adjusted it. Pumping is a bit of a bear, but at 215 lbs (my weight) I can manhandle it.

Great video, the way it was explained to me from Umarex was that as the air pressure drops a little the valve will stay open longer giving a higher velocity for a few shots. They also said because of how the air chamber is designed with the piston that the sweet spot should be 2200 psi-3000 psi depending on my elevation and pellet so if I am using the hand pump I wouldn't really need to go over 3000-3200 psi which they estimate probably around 60 pumps given my elevation of 1275 ft and approx 120-125 pumps to full capacity, so since you are much higher its going to take much more. When I was in El Paso I thought I was going to die at first because it felt like there was no air there. I have one ordered, can't wait to try it out, I have some gas piston break barrel rifles with Hawke optics we use for coons, digger squirrels, house sparrows and starlings that like to raid our house and destroy our property.
