    Honestly I think he should have reported her. Yes, he would need to admit to submitting an incomplete essay, but in doing so he'd surely say 'Because of the family emergency and my denied extension time, I did this, so I wouldn't fail.' Wouldn't that get her on both points?

    With the one of the mother wanting to be thanked for every little thing she did around the house, I have the opposite story.
    So one day my family decided to go visit a place, since I wasn't feeling well I stayed home.
    While at home I cleaned everything from the windows to the walls. The only thing left was the dishes and cleaning the kitchen sink.
    What then happened next was after 12 hours of cleaning, they ended up coming home. My mother said that I did a shit job at cleaning.
    My dad and siblings mentioned that everything else was clean, it was just the dishes left. Apparently the house is only clean if the dishes are done.
    She proceeded to the make a mess of everything, including the walls. Then when they went to go out the next time, she told me to male sure the house was clean when they got back.
    So I did the dishes, and only the dishes. They were washed and dried then put away. Then I sat down and played some games on my computer.
    When they got back, she was angry that the house wasn't clean. So I told her it was, she mentioned the dirt on the walls, floors, rubbish left on the kitchen bench and many other things.
    I simply said "But the dishes are done, so the house is clean. That is what you said last weekend. So if you do not think I did it right, then you know where all the cleaning supplies are."
    She was angry, but everyone stuck up for me. Oddly enough, she never complained about it again.

    And that apology by the advisor on behalf of the others? Were they even sorry? Couldn’t they do it in person?

      Not even 1 month ago, I got massive revenge by being maliciously compliant. It was glorious. I will explain, so that we can all laugh at them together.
      So, I used to live in a long-term care home, where they kept pressuring us to get more C-19 vaccines. When I refused to get a 3rd vaccine, they took away all of my clothes, my iPad, my blanket, and my teddy bear, and told me that I wasn't allowed to have any of them unless I got a 3rd vaccine. I also wasn't allowed to shower. I did this in the hopes that someone would see it and put a stop to it.
      This went on for 4 days before my Dad came to visit me. When he saw that I wasn't wearing clothes and showering in my sink, he freaked out, threatened to sue them, and got one of the nurses fired. It actually worked out even better than I thought it would. *Malicious laugh.* 😏

    That essay story kinda happened to me in high school once. We had this history teacher that seemed to grade solely on whether she liked you or not. And no, she did NOT like me. One girl especially was the teacher's pet, getting amazing grades whatever she did. But one time she comes to me in a panic because she'd completely forgotten about the essay that was due the next day. So we copied mine almost verbatim, switching some paragraphs and sentences around, real basic stuff like changing "Paris is the capital of France" to "The capital of France is Paris" but whatever. As long as she had something to turn in, right?
    So when we got our grades, mine was a 6/10 (the grade I usually got) and hers was 8/10 (the grade she usually got) despite hers being a hastily thrown together mess that read like my essay, transcribed by Yoda. I'm pretty sure she could have handed in an A4 of Lorum Ipsum and still gotten that 8/10 though.

    ok, it is entirely possible that Tim's mom is a narcissist and just needed to be the center of attention, which sucks for everyone around them. However, with the fact Tim's dad is mentioned at the end and the feeling that maybe mom did all of the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc, I think she might be a bit justified in her whining. It sort of sounds like Tim's dad (and probably Tim, who seems to be a teenager at the time given the fact he went off and bought a box of trophies) aren't doing anything to help out with any of those things. They just expected mom to do it all for them.

    • @Flawestruck
      @Flawestruck 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      Yeah, it's hard to say what's going on especially when this is Tim's cousin recounting the tale likely told to him by Tim. Not really a firsthand story. And a lot of moms are overworked with their family acting like her life is easy because she's home all day whereas the others go to work/school. Then again, the mom might've been a difficult person. I know some parents who will micromanage and nitpick every chore you do. So then you don't bother doing chores and then they complain they're the only ones doing anything. Sometimes you just can't win with people. Still, at the end of the day, it doesn't hurt to thank someone. My mom and I always take some time to express our appreciation of the chores the other does. Are they necessary? Yes. Are we responsible for them? Yes. But it's nice to be reminded our efforts are recognized. It's easy to say, "Thanks for making dinner, mom." Like, I can't imagine how much time TIm wasted observing his mom so obsessively that he's eventually giving her not just a trophy, but fanfare music and such, just for going to the bathroom or taking a shower. Maybe he could've been helping with chores or doing schoolwork instead. Or at least having some fun with a good video game.

    At my last job, we had a woman who if you weren't doing your job how SHE wanted you to, or how fast she liked, she would move you on the line to an area she knew you weren't very good at as "punishment" (for reference, thus was a factory setting packaging dog treats). one day, she all of a sudden isn't happy with how I'm counting the pigs ears, so she moves me to boxing, which was very fast paced and I always had a hard time keeping up with it. At one point she tells me I need to go faster, and I'm already pissed, so I did, fueled by spite alone. Got to the point when she couldn't keep up with me, and that angered her even more, so she moved me again. Didn't really test me much after that.

Working the same number of hours on more days isn't going to increase his paycheck, it's going to cost him more in traveling costs to get to work. Darts story: I'm glad this one didn't end up with Mary impaled. I can easily see the next person in line thinking all the darts had been thrown and start retrieving them before the final one is suddenly sticking out of their hand. You retrieve your own darts for a reason!

    Okay, may be just a generational thing. I and my brothers did chores. Mom was not the only one cooking and cleaning. If the cousins mother was the only one doing all the cooking and cleaning I can see her being upset. That was not attention seeking. It was someone who is not being given the appreciation they deserve. I bet cousin always had clean clothes, clean house, fresh linen, hot meals, all buttons on clothes. Windows he could see out of, clean dishes to eat off of, didn’t stick to the floor or other surfaces. And if mother worked outside the home, like many wives have to, all that has to be done after eight hours at her job. If she didn’t work outside the home it is still work and it’s unpaid work that’s done everyday. Without weekends or holidays off. So cousin and his uncle were AH for belittling her for wanting them to show appreciation for what she does.

I left and went to the bathroom for a good few minutes, went and bought a drink up front, drank some, then went back to the back. If im not told i cant do my job right? Sure enough im asked where I was, made up a lie about having to go to the bathroom and got a drink from the break room. 10:31 "Appreciation is nice but not for things that are expected of you when you are a parent."
    No. Absolutely not. You're wrong. Reciprocal appreciation is EXTREMELY important in a family. When there is a mismatch between perceived effort and perceived appreciation your literally get divorces. Which is not to say that this mom wasn't exaggerating, maybe she was, but you can't make blanket statements like that.

    My Honours Alg II teacher gave us daily assignments, each due on Friday. Like most procrastinators, I did them all Thursday night. usually doing ~60-100 math questions, or ~20-40 is it was longer ones. Took me until second semester to realize he was putting in 100% regardless of if we submitted anything, then halfway through 4th quarter, so we got a sub for the rest of the year. The sub removed all HW grades for the first half of the fourth quarter. Also, the school didn’t give the guy who would be teaching us for the next 5 weeks access to Schoology, where the online textbook is, as well as where our HW is posted. Every night I checked Schoology, unaware that he didn’t have access. Turns out he had Gmailed me a list of all the HWs, but it was out of order and had no dates on it. I had to do 5 HW assignments for only half credit, which is worsened by the fact that my original teacher had HW grades out of two, but the Sub put them in out of five. Luckily I figured it out, and my grades got better

    Are we supposed to believe that a professor teaching German in Germany at a German university struggles speaking German?

    • @delirium4414
      @delirium4414 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was in Luxembourg, not Germany. The professor spoke Luxembourgian as their first language and was not a native German speaker. It was not a German university, it was just a German class as a foreign language elective

    • @rayhatesu
      @rayhatesu 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@delirium4414Did you pay attention to the video? The poster literally starts with "since there is only one university in [Luxembourg], there is a tradition of students [from Luxembourg] going to university in [another country]", specifically to Strasbourg, which in this case is either Strasbourg, France (unlikely) or Strasbourg, Germany (far more likely, a train ride from one to the other is simple and also costs on 18 or so Euros). There is no Strasbourg, Luxembourg. I checked. Ergo, this was likely a professor in a German University teaching German as a foreign language to people not native to Germany, likely also one without much knowledge of Luxembourg as well, since they'd chosen to change the policy until the malicious compliance knocked them down a peg and got them to change it back to preserve their ego.

    @10:30, yeah when it's normal and expected, sure. but when i lived together with my ex i was the only one who had a paying job, who worked 5 days a week from 7 to 4. he didn't had a job, and all he did was just lazily sit on his pc all day playing games. no effort making of looking for a job, or do some of the house chores since he had more time during the day then i did. yet even though i was the only one working, he expected me to still cook dinner every day, do laundry once or twice a week, clean the apartment and all other house chores. only then i would like it if he appreciated and thanked me for doing literally everything in and around the house as his girlfriend while he gets to sit on his fat ass all day playing games. keep in mind he's a mentally healthy and stable guy, just being too lazy to do something. he would even argue and pick fights with me if i asked him to do one or two things for me, even when those things were small

    We have cases too in Russian. This isn't malicious compliance but just pure malice from one of my Russian teachers in highschool. For context I'm Italian and speak Italian but my mom being Ukrainian I also speak a fair bit of Russian. I understand almost all of it. Because I had a passion for foreign languages as a kid and still do, I settled for a diploma in foreign languages. Meaning: English, French and Russian. My very first teacher was mean and acted like she knew better than all of us. Or kind of. She berated me for not getting new glasses and that me trying to see well was very distracting to others. I had gotten those glasses made from a check I asked for that my mom found a coupon for. So the check was trash and he didn't fix my vision one bit. My glasses were as bad as they were before once then new lense was installed. So I sucked it up because my parents aren't rich. And we can't afford to go to our previous expensive private doctor nor could we afford to get a new set of lenses. This teacher though despite causing many people to hate her, was somewhat decent. We had a native Ukrainian girl join our class. The teacher refused to test her because she felt it was the most useless thing. "She's native Russian! What's the point in me testing her?" and so on. The next teacher we had would test her and grade her accordingly. But the last one... The last one was a total shitshow. She made one student cry and kicked her out of her class for disturbing others. She wanted to grade me a 2/10 because I refused to get tested. Then claimed she wanted to help me by giving me a second chance by making me do something prohibited by the school. We had an assembly the next day and rules say you can't get tested during assemblies because you need testimony of your test. Or else the teacher could unfairly grade you. And you can't force a student out of partecipanting the assembly they agreed to participate to if they wanted to or they could leave. She wanted to test me during that time and then save the mark in the system as if I was tested the day prior. I of course told her I wouldn't do anything that wasn't school policy as I didn't want to get in trouble for something she did. And then she came at me saying based off my behaviour towards her I deserved the low mark anyways. That day she oral tested my Ukrainian classmate. And she had the balls to give her a 9/10. She said everything perfectly. Yet she didn't get the best mark. This teacher expected us to be perfect in Russian. When even my mom admitted to not speaking a perfect Russian with her Ukrainian friends. If a native can't what about non natives? I'm native Italian mind you. I can't imagine the low mark I would've gotten beucase of her. As a side note she once got mad at me over her technical issues. She started a Google meet call (it was during quarantine) but I guess something happened with that call cause she started a new one. At the time I have several issues with our WiFi so it was disconnected and I was struggling to log onto the call. I logged in but it looked weird. I could hear all my classmates but I couldn't see their icons in the call. I though my Google meet was going crazy so I ignored it. Until she called my name and asked about me. I said I was present but she couldn't hear me. Despite I could hear her. She then got mad at me for not properly logging on. My mom got mad at me for not checking my phone to make sure I was on the right call. Because my classmates texted saying she had some issue with the first call and made a new one without closing the first call. Which is why I could hear everyone but not see them.
