OME makes GREAT springs - I'm certain you still enjoy them - mine, with the full spring pack & stock shackles, netted a 3-1/ 4" lift. Indeed, Long Arms would improve your geometry, but the fox shocks are a great investment!
Yep I agree! I haven’t had an issue with the OME leafs whatsoever and our IRO long arm has been a game changer with our shocks and Metalcloak springs too!
Before you go cutting off your bump stop buckets. Disconnect your drag link and sway bar if possible. And you can lower the axle a bit more. And by the way bump stops are very handy when needed.
The sway bar was disconnected but I honestly didn’t think about disconnecting the track bar 😅 I was so fed up with fighting with them lol good insight for when I do anything in the future thanks! And I am gonna come up with a bump stop solution sometime soon, either go all out and do some type of hydro/air bump setup, do the acos from JKS or weld a nut onto a washer and weld it onto my cut bump can so I can thread a rubber bump stop onto that spot again. I really appreciate you watching though, and all these tips help me a ton since I’m just a normal guy working on the XJ 😂.
I just ordered the metalcloak springs and control arms, jks adjustable track bar, stinkyfab aluminum steering and Fox shocks. For the rear I ordered the same leaf pack as you and the ironman fab shackle relocation bracket and 1 inch shackle and also there steering brace and spacer. I think that's about it
That’s an extremely beefy setup man! 🥩 you shouldn’t have any problems with that! I did talk to metalcloak about their control arms and they told me cause of the geometry of 4.5in coils and their control arms it would make a sorta rough ride. They suggested to me either long arms or control arm drop brackets 😬. I figured it shouldn’t be much of a difference from their control arms and any other brands right? You will love that setup though. My heel rides like a dream on the highway
Hell yea man thats awesome i was gonna go with old man emu but I went with the rubicon express springs , when i go to haul more weight in the future ill definitely be getting these .
Thanks a ton for watching! Rubicon express was the second choice for me to be honest! Anything would of been better than my 6yr old rough country leafs and coils lol. But with all the weight the Jeep has in the back for our trips I really liked that completely flat helper leaf the OME pack had. I love that you can get the Rubicon Express coils and springs on Amazon though 😂 so convenient.
@@2AOverland oh hell yeah, ive had zero issues from my springs they flex hard and strong and honestly the ride is pretty damn good down the highway . but like all XJs they just keep getting better with time
Yeah rubicon express has stepped it up in recent years, they used to be rough country quality lol. I’ve been rubbing their trackbar for years now and it’s been solid
Thanks a ton for watching man, my first impressions are these MetalCloak coils are way better than my old rough country ones and what I like is they’re a true 4.5in cause they designed the ride height with a weight in front like a bumper and winch. But I think the ride quality is limited by my short arms though 😬 I’m definitely looking into a long arm kit to get the full potential out of the new coil springs.
@@2AOverland Right on. I have Rubicon Express 4.5'' coils in the front and want it to stay the same height, but would love an increase in ride quality. Check out Rock & Road Performance 3 Link kit, incredible design and local to me.
Same here man it’s decent on the highway but in the city it’s definitely not the greatest. Ive heard of them from when that guy installed their kit on bleepin Jeep, that one and the IRO kit are my choices lol. But I like that their crossmember is 1/4inch!
Could you tell us about your headlights? I couldn’t locate any video titles if you already have. Sweet rig! Thx for the vid - helping me with my OME/JKS front end.
Thank you so much for watching! We do not have a video about the headlight swap but we’re planning on doing one. I’m glad our vid is helping with building your rig!
Thanks for watching man! That’s always been a struggle of mine I’ve been trying to get better at.. I’m using a rode video micro currently and the built in mic on our dji osmo pocket 2. And occasionally I use a lav mic for any voice overs and talking head stuff
I’m concerned about the lack of bumpstops. You need those to save the shocks. The shocks won’t live if they are the bumpstop. (They aren’t supposed to limit travel)
You do have a point, it’s been a long time since we’ve wheeled to the point to bottom out the shocks but I do want to save the shocks for as long as possible before a rebuild. Ultimately I wanna go with hydro or air setup but that will require a lot of work 😬. Ill end up welding a thick washer with a nut on the cut bumps so I can thread a bump on there for the mean time. I just needed them shorter so I can fit the coil back on since they’re longer than my old springs. I heard the ACOS by JKS is a good system too.
Xjs are weird only one some occasions it will hit bump I put in extended bumps and had to cut them down to like 2 inches cus no matter how much I compressed the spring it wouldn’t work with my springs sorry fo the rant
@@2AOverland I found a set through dynastar I believe. Popped right into the factory mount for the front, and then just cut to the length I needed (pumps about 1/2” before the shock bottoms out.)
It's nice cause if you gotta bust some bolts on the trail (or in someone else's vehicle) it's easy to just take a little from a dipstick and the master cylinder
Thanks for watching!! The leafs have been great so far! They’ve handled the weight off all of our gear perfectly and most likely I’m going with them in the future again
Thank you for watching! 😊 that’s not a problem at all! I have a Ford 8.8 rear axle so that might make a difference but the measurement is 9 3/4 inches. And the front is about 11.5 inches
Hey man im really struggling to get my axle low enough to put one of these coils in, i got one in but with that i can fit the other, how did you do it?
Thanks for watching man, is there something binding up to cause not enough droop? I know one time I had to unbolt the trackbar from the axle cause it was hitting the axle bracket and my coil spring popped right in
@@2AOverland No worries man thanks, the track bar was a good shout i just also need to adjust my control arms a bit, finally got it in after some ugga duggas on the spring compressor. Good video man keen to test out these metal cloak springs👍

That’s good to know I’m between those control arms or the IRO 3 link long arm kit. The fox shocks are awesome! I’ve had them about 6yrs and there’s been no issues. If you could spend a little more get the adjustable ones though. And thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately they don’t have stock springs for the coils. They only have 3.5, 4.5 & 6in coils. And I can’t find anything when it comes to the leaf springs 😬.
@@2AOverland ok sorry I sound lost but that means I will have to lift the front ? Or it’s simply up to my likings ? Just making sure it’s leveled. So my best bet would be to wait until they are installed and decide then ? Just trying to keep to stock as much possible for now
