Thanks for the video man.... your setup is so much better than the others I have seen and it is more inline with how I want to set my XJ up. Great job and thanks for taking the time to do this for the rest of us to see.
Not a problem man thanks for watching! I’m glad our setup can help you with your jeep build and I didn’t see any videos like this out so I figured this info can help a lot of people with their builds too. I do have an update video to the aux battery location where I put it under the hood where the stock airbox went if you want to go that route also. I’ll leave the link if you’re interested. th-cam.com/video/X9za0-u0sWo/w-d-xo.html
Hey there. I commented on one of your other videos about jump starting yourself from your aux battery. At 2:23, if you will jump the connection between those 2 poss you can jump your starter battery from your aux battery. In my previous camper van build I ran a wire from one side to my cab, the a wire from the other side, then put a battery switch between. Then if my starting battery was dead I could just flip the switch and jump start myself without leaving the drivers seat.
That’s a good idea! I would of never thought of that. I might do that, then if both batteries die you can charge your aux through solar if you have it set up for that and use the solar aux battery to jump the starter one.
@@2AOverland thinking through this, yea I think that would actually work. That would allow you to charge your batteries by solar then jump your starting battery without removing or swapping any batteries. That’s a genius idea. In my camper van I did not have that option because I didn’t have solar. I’m going to start converting a 89 Ford van soon. It will be 4wd and built into a camper. I may use this setup.
If you had enough solar I think you could easily do it. Maybe a 100w panel on a really good day or 200-300 watts would be better. The Ford van conversions are so awesome man, I love how creative people get with them! Me and Nat wouldn’t mind having a 4x4 van if it ever got to the possibility of going full time on the road. Is it your van a 4x4 & are you gonna put videos out of the build process?
@@2AOverland my original van build is on my channel. It changed over the years that I had it. My new van is on my channel but I didn’t do anything to it since my last video of it a couple years ago. I do plan to video the build of it when I get started.
Sorry about that 😅 I’ve been learning as I’m going with video editing and audio levels and all that. Our first vids were rough cause I didn’t adjust the audio correctly 😂. I’m glad you’re watching though! Thanks again
thanks for the video. I am looking into a set up for my xj. i really want to do a single battery but i think it would be safer to have a duel. i just need something to run a fridge. i think i might do the jackery with solar. and i can use the rig ro charge the jackery. if you had 600 - 900 bucks what direction would you go.
Thank you for watching! We appreciate it. If I didn’t have the setup I had now I would definitely do the Jackery setup for running a fridge and any other accessories. They’re proven and I like that you can charge them off solar pretty fast depending how many panels you have connected to it.
Thanks for watching!! The link is for alternator I got and it’s been solid for years now. I took the alternator bracket off the block and you have to grind off some material from the bracket to make the alternator fit. It’s slightly larger than the stock one but it’s well worth it! I also did the ultimate power upgrade wires too so it’s not overloading the stock wires. www.ksuspensionfab.com/store/p116/DB_Electrical_Alternator__-UPGRADE-__NEW%21.html#/
Btw I have an updated video for this where I have the aux battery under the hood since I did the cowl intake upgrade 😎 here’s a link to that th-cam.com/video/X9za0-u0sWo/w-d-xo.html

BEST, BEST XJ Dual battery video EVER...and I've watched many....Can I get a schematic of your first option for running a dual battery? Where did you mount the house battery? Thank you this was so VERY informative. I've watched it 3 times so far.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Our goal was to try to make it as informative and simple as possible and I’m glad it’s helped! 😊 what we’re running in the Jeep is the first schematic at about the 4:50 mark in our video. We have a small platform in the back of the Jeep to help hold totes and our battery/fluids box. And in there we have 2 separate plastic battery boxes for our house battery and the other for the fluids. If you need details on that platform and battery box setup it would be easier to message pictures of those over Instagram if you have a profile. Our name on there is 2A_Overland! Thanks again for watching ☺️
@@2AOverland hey whatever works right? I’m trying to figure a way to mount a IRO battery box. Thank m 🤔 no about just bolting it to the stock box and calling it good
