With some negative comments about the age of the Prado 150, I take a look at why I think it's such a good reliable vehicle, is the tech enough or is it now too old?
Just bought a demo GXL. This is my first Toyota and wasn't my first choice when I started looking for a new car, but after a test drive, I kind of get why they're so popular. My fuel economy is very good at 10.1/100 for all my driving so far, though I don't drive around town much. IMHO, that is good for a 4x4 with a bull bar and 32" AT tires. Thanks for the video.
Bought a used 2013 150 series GXL, with 143,000k early last year. Plan keeping it as my primary vehicle for 10+ years and builing it up/ using it for a mix of camping, touring, 4wd-ing (nothing hardcore, just getting off the beaten track, beach trips etc.). Cant see myself selling it even if I eventually upgrade. Will just by a road car as daily and have Prado for adventures. It's the best available comprimise between size/ space, comfort, reliability, family duties, offroad ability. They are popular for a reason... Having 150L fuel capacity and spare tyre on back from factory is perfect for my use, 80L tank just not enough for a family tourer. Ease of servicing and resale potential is worth the extra cost over competition. As a comparison, I drove a new MUX (hire car while away in Tassie). Felt a lot smaller, not as well planted on the road (steering too light for my taste), and beeped constantly - happy NOT to have the newest tech in my old dinosaur! 🦕
2011 GXl 3.0L Auto, pretty much standard & I get on a long trip 450km to Sydney at 110 with driving around Sydney for a week, & return we averaged 9.5L/100. Towing Jayco Outback at 110 over 1000km we average 13.0L, meaning we get to our destination with 20L in the tank.
Interesting thought! I am planning on keeping mine for 15 - 20 years, seeing so many still going strong after 10 years already gives me confidence it may last longer than me!!!

Hey Bro, is a very good car in every sense. Now is the moment to buy one, before the new came to the dealership. Enjoy that Prado.

Wish we got these in the USA!
It will be interesting when you still make videos of your prado in 20 years

I look forward to mine at this age and beyond, I sometimes wish I had less tech in it, so sure yours will last longer!
what rims do you use? Greetz from Germany
I replaced the factory rims with ROH 17x9 with BFG 265/70R17 tyres
Which ROH are they?
They are the ROH 17X9 6/139.7 12 110 TROPHY
