- Finally a smaller under bonnet lithium (255 mm wide) that will fit the aux battery position in the Prado 150. Replacing my AGM with the ITECH120X 2023 model.

Hi there. Excellent timing my friend. Finally got my GX Prado and will want to fit a dual battery. After re watching all your battery videos l like your attention to detail being a fussy bugger myself. So yes. If you produce a video on how to install from start to finish (in your opinion of course) the best system for the average owner to run fridge, camp lights etc that would be very helpful indeed. A novice at electrical but will definitely be doing install myself. I’m in no rush and Happy to wait Thanks Tony
Thanks Tony for the feedback and great idea, I'll put something together as I've adjusted my set up along the way!
Thanks for sharing!
Thx for your post.
I also own a Prado 150 and will be fitting a dual battery system shortly. Was looking at these new 120x lithium’s as an alternative to the Deep Cycle unit I was planning to use, so will be interested in how yours goes. There is no shortage of opinions on whether you can or should put a lithium under the bonnet
Cheers
(Nb about to watch your ARB compressor install videos again )
Victron sell a waterproof version of smart shunt now.
I mounted mine in the cab out the way above the pedals anyway, so it's protected from heat or water.
Interesting to hear, thanks
Thanks for sharing. Would overheating be a concern for lithium battery? Especially considering the extreme heat next to engine.
Yes it can be, however this ITech one is rated at 80c and sold as suitable for under bonnet providing you cover it in the heat protected layer
Thanks for the informative video
I am also thinking of one of these for my new Prado on the way.
Looks like Toyota has changed the air con bracket that bolts onto the battery tray. What is the clearance like as it shows in your video like it almost touching, but cant tell if there is vertical clearance
You are correct, Toyota did change the air-con bracket, I had a 305 mm width battery in before this one and that was still fine, but I would not want to go bigger than that. I did like the extra clearance this Itech battery gives.
Hi mate, how's the battery going now? Would you do the same again? Cheers
@jack3d275 it's going well so far, great to have the extra capacity, we went away for three nights recently & I did not even take my solar with me. Yes I'd definitely do it again.
