Uhmmm, this was 1999, you have to count the interview scores as well. That’s why Spain and Philippines were fourth and fifth respectively while South Africa was 1st score wise at this point.
@@reprolover11 just computed the scores given on swimsuit and evening gown as flashed on the screen.the top 5 matched with the total scores without including the interview. the host also said in random order. so yeah..

I was just saying for accurate scores, those scores had to be included too, not just evening gown and swimsuit. Add those and you’ll find that they actually called the girls in non random order.

the best was spain! botswana won in a fair competition. p.r. outstanding! should've made top 5. phil didn't impressed me,looked better from far than close ups! something in her teeth ,i think. mexico was cute,s.a. was not cute!
hahahaha, why did you not tell the MUO to be one of the judges? the judges will be bored if they all pick the Latina, black and Spanish race, remember,Spain was there, Venezuela had the mixed black or Afro beauty, Botswana and even South Africa who had the Italian race, nearer to a Spanish features, of course they will pick some diverse beauties like Asian Philippines, because her beauty was very much unique..India would be forgettable because her features were similar to that Latin beauties..They need some exotic looks and so the judges were very smart to pick the best diverse beauties..Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in which the judges have different points of view, in short different taste..
