This 2006 Miss Bolivia was untouchable, the best of the best
This year was one of the most diverse tops in Miss Universe. We had Bolivia, Paraguay, Switzerland, Sweden, Ethiopia, Russia, Denmark and Trinidad and Tobago that currently hardly qualify for Miss Universe.
Well up to this point Trinidad and Tobago won Miss Universe Twice....1977 and 1998...1995 Trinidad place 5th and 1997 Third place....so Trinidad was still doing better than a lot of the bigger nations
Your comment is fair although we do have to point Paraguay went all the way to first runner up in 2021 and T&T made top 16 in the recent edition.

If you check the ranks Trinidad is very High on the list of top Qualifying countries for Ms universe...

I love the crowd's energy back in those days. The audience is cheering regardless of any country called. Today, the audience is quite boring and hopeless.

Ya lor... Nowadays they only cheer their country rep. That's where the decibels generate. But once their country failed to make it to the Top Ten, like the Philippines last year, the Fans kept low profile. After which we can then hear The Mexico, The Puerto Rico, The Thailand fans cheering. Amazing. ☺
I think is because OBVIOUSLY the cheerings were a recording played in the background. Always sounded the same
I think the pageant should be held in Iran, Iraq, North Korea or Yemen. The cheers will be more uniform as the supporters might not go.

During this era the top 20 semifinalist are called in just 5 minutes. Today it will last for almost 20 minutes.

Sure, the five-five-five-five semifinalists gives a region a Europe a chance to go far, but you still have the Latinas and the women from Africa and Asia Pacific grab most of the Top 20 spots.

That format is supposedly designed to level the playing field like the salary cap and luxury tax in sports, but you still going to have some regions hogging up most of the Top 20 spots.

@@alexisvargas8887 pues fue la mejor de ese año en traje de baño pero su traje de noche no le favoreció dejandola en 6to lugar. Si no fuera por eso el top 2 hubiera sido Colombia y Puerto Rico al igual que 1993 el cual fue un fraude total tenía que ganar Paula Andrea Bethancourt o Milka una de las dos pero no Puerto Rico que estaba de relleno en ese top 3.
El top 2 de 1993 era entre Venezuela y Colombia.

Colombia 🇨🇴, Bolivia ESPECTACULARES, Para mi merecían top 5, Paraguay Hermosa, que risa la reacción de Hungría, que hermosa personalidad de Japón, que fanaticada tan grande de México, Puerto Rico divina, hermosa negra la de TyT, Suiza una muñeca, Canadá bella, las q no quedaron al top 10 me gustaban Tailandia e India, la candidata de Russia tristemente falleció (no lo sabia, me enteré según pág rusas) y Venezuela no clasificó, tristemente ella no se destacó casi en ese año, LIKE SEÑORES

The best audience of the year, they were all cheers at every contestant called. we miss moments like that now
where is it?
The cheers were all pre recorded,the only real cheers are from the crowd favourites(like Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Japan and USA). Those who aren't favourites or fave few fans(or none at all) the producers put in fake screams so that it won't sound so silent🙂.

Although there were a number of surprises here like Argentina, Denmark, Hungary, Sweden, Paraguay, etc., it was still a good group of Semifinalists as major favorites Canada, Switzerland, and Mexico advanced that year alongside other favorites Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, etc. The top 10 was really strong. Would’ve preferred Japan winning but overall a very strong top 10 that year.

I remember MU 2006 because the talles contestant is Miss Ghana 1.88 cm and Miss Canada 1.86 cm.
Miss Colombia isn't related to Shakira but actually they're both from the same city which is Barranquilla.
