I think Usa would have won, they spoke about the situtation of women in their countries, there is an abysmal gap between Usa, Canada and India, women status in those 3 countries were completly different.
Before Venezuela's back-to-back win, the year 1994-1995 could have been the first back-to-back win... by India. Manpreet Brar gave an awesome, sensible answer, and is most reflective of the situation in their country. I didn't like her before but looking back, it could have been a more deserving back-to-back win.

However, to be completely honest, Miss INDIA's answer to this final question was ON POINT (To give the women in her country the ability and the right to chose their lives and only then will they be individuals) was an amazing statement. This is a really good question, even now almost 20 years later. India struck a nerve and there was almost nothing USA or Canada could say in as few words to beat the sincerity of her response. Amazing!!

Lots of ppl say India gave the best answer. She did and with lots of conviction. But, she lost out in the beauty department. Her features are quite rough (like some people said) and are not as soft as the beauties the country sent to World 94 or Universe 1999. And looking back at the scores, USA did win prelims while USA/Canada did well in the semifinals. India did not make the top 3 going into the top 6 and only excelled during the top 6 question round. If we look at these observations, the results make sense because the judges did not favor India as much as the fans favored her. It makes sense.
Of the top 6, Canada was the only one who placed in the top 5 in all three semi-finals competitions. But still when it comes to overall impression, it became obvious USA was the one.
The only edge that Sushmita won the crown but Manpreet lost was Sushmita's stronger body of work since she was consistent Top 3 scorer in every cut at MU 1994 unlike Manpreet was just barely made the cut several occasions. 1994 and 1995 judges gave different opinions on what was the basis that a woman should represented the MUO.

Manpreet just made the cut in 6th place because of a low swimsuit score. She was 4th in interview and third in gown. In years with a top 5, she would've been out of the running. Personally I think Puerto Rico should've been in the top 3 but the competition was just too fierce.
Manpreet Brar's dress reminds me of Miss World 1994 Ms India Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's gown only that the color and design differ other than the fact Aishwarya Rai's gown had an extra trail of fabric attached on the left shoulder which made it look like a pallu.She and Ms Canada gave the answer right on point.Chelsea looks good but too much blush and contour on the cheeks and the highlighter if any applied doesn't show up.Miss Canada has the best features of the three,her skin is like molten gold with a tint of bronze.In my opinion they should have crowned Ms Canada because they didn't want to crown Ms India and Ms Canada wasn't the deserving winner.Miss Canada's earrings are similar to the shape of a kaanbala and/or chaandbaali

Speaking of Diversity,I can't help thinking that of the Texas streak during the Miss USA pageant (1985-1989) & Miss USA 1977 (also from Texas) none of them won Miss Universe.The best result was Miss USA 1986, who finished 1st runner up in 1986, a transplanted Dallasite. It took a multi-racial, Black-appearing woman, Chelsi Smith- from Texas- in 1995 to win the Miss Universe crown. Lots of ppl say India gave the best answer. She did and with lots of conviction. But, she lost out in the beauty department. Her features are quite rough (like some people said) and are not as soft as the beauties the country sent to World 94 or Universe 1999. And looking back at the scores, USA did win prelims while USA/Canada did well in the semifinals. India did not make the top 3 going into the top 6 and only excelled during the top 6 question round. If we look at these observations, the results make sense because the judges did not favor India as much as the fans favored her. It makes sense.
Of the top 6, Canada was the only one who placed in the top 5 in all three semi-finals competitions. But still when it comes to overall impression, it became obvious USA was the one.
All three did so well.....

The only edge that Sushmita won the crown but Manpreet lost was Sushmita's stronger body of work since she was consistent Top 3 scorer in every cut at MU 1994 unlike Manpreet was just barely made the cut several occasions. 1994 and 1995 judges gave different opinions on what was the basis that a woman should represented the MUO.
Pero en el 94 fue un robo muy descarado, siendo la comombiana la mejor en la ronda de preguntas. Esa India del 94 era bonita, pero sinceramnete el final era entre Colombia y Venezuela. Lo mismo en 1993, la final debió ser entre Colombia y Venezuela, Puerto Rico no tenía nada que hacer en ese top 3 que era de Australia, Colombia y Venezuela.
Manpreet just made the cut in 6th place because of a low swimsuit score. She was 4th in interview and third in gown. In years with a top 5, she would've been out of the running. Personally I think Puerto Rico should've been in the top 3 but the competition was just too fierce.
Manpreet Brar's dress reminds me of Miss World 1994 Ms India Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's gown only that the color and design differ other than the fact Aishwarya Rai's gown had an extra trail of fabric attached on the left shoulder which made it look like a pallu.She and Ms Canada gave the answer right on point.Chelsea looks good but too much blush and contour on the cheeks and the highlighter if any applied doesn't show up.Miss Canada has the best features of the three,her skin is like molten gold with a tint of bronze.In my opinion they should have crowned Ms Canada because they didn't want to crown Ms India and Ms Canada wasn't the deserving winner.Miss Canada's earrings are similar to the shape of a kaanbala and/or chaandbaali

Ms. India (Manpreet Brar) gave the best answer. but she was the least beautiful of the three. Ms. India (Sushmita Sen is way prettier than Manpreet Brar). it's a beauty pageant. looks still count no matter what you argue. Manpreet Brar had a bit of a manly beauty. she reminds me of Karan Brar from Disney Channel's Jessie. and not to mention, they both have the same last name. maybe they're related that's why i see some facial resemblance.
between Ms. India and Ms. USA, Chelsi Smith (USA) was more of the overall package (i guess). but personally, niether Ms. India or Ms. USA appealed to me. Ms. Canada was pretty but her answers seemed very memorized and rehearsed. Ms. USA's answer might've not been as wise or philosophical as the Ms. India's answer, but Ms. USA nevertheless gave an inspiring, beautiful, straight-to-the-point message. just like what happened to Janine Tugonon of the Philippines (1st runner up 2012 miss universe) who delivered a better answer during her batch, it came down to overall package--that's why the Olivia Culpo of USA won miss universe 2012, instead of Janine Tugonon.

First of All, Manpreet would have been a very influential person had she been the Miss Universe and that aspect is the most important while choosing the winner i.e. she should be an inspiration to women everywhere. And when it comes to MU 2012, what makes you think that USA was a better package overall than Philippines, I mean in what sense?

Venezuela no ganó ese año fue por la respuesta a la pregunga final. Si Venezuela hubiera respondido bien hubiera ganado insdicutiblemente. Venezuela respondió mal y todo y aún así quedó de segunda finalista. Las razones fueron por el desempeño durante la noche en cunato a cuerpo, carisma, actitud y demás, pero se mató asimisma al responder la pregunta final.

Speaking of Diversity,I can't help thinking that of the Texas streak during the Miss USA pageant (1985-1989) & Miss USA 1977 (also from Texas) none of them won Miss Universe.The best result was Miss USA 1986, who finished 1st runner up in 1986, a transplanted Dallasite. It took a multi-racial, Black-appearing woman, Chelsi Smith- from Texas- in 1995 to win the Miss Universe crown. I can't help but think that that is such a middle finger to such a racist, secession-wanting, state.

I do not know but India got the lowest average swimsuit score. during the semifinals.. USA was ahead of her during the semifinals interviews. Canada was ahead of her during the top 6 interviews... They must have considered the rankings of Sushmita back in 1994 when she did not fall below top 5??
