And every 4th of July they showed in channel 5 the Miss USA.
I just love watching this video over and over again. Sometimes I even find new details I had not noticed before like Miss Washington and a delegate on a blue dress (I cannot read the sash) holding their breath before the announcement and then bursting into a loud and ecstatic applause when their favorite fellow delegate won. Same for Miss Kentucky who could hardly applaud because her hands were busy with the bouquet but you see her bending her knees and looking genuinely happy. All this adds to the beauty of having an integral woman, beautiful inside and out, wining the coveted crown. Happy 40th anniversary to the most charming beauty queen who gave us the most memorable winning reaction, happy 40th anniversary to you!!!

I live in Cabot...her dad (or maybe Uncle) built my first home...and Cabot went from 4,000 people to almost 30,000 now...it is sad that once Dairy Queen came in, Tastee Freez closed...it was still open and the original as of a few years ago.

Terri is my favorite Miss U.S.A. I use to live in Benton Arkansas when I was little, I lived in Benton from 1969 to 1975. I loved the city of Benton and I loved the state of Arkansas! While I was living in Benton, my mom entered me in the 1972 Little Miss Benton pageant and I won second runner up! I thought Terri was very pretty and she showed everyone that even girls with short hair can win pageants! I thought Terri should have won Miss Universe 1982!
That kind of reaction is what's missing in modern day pageantry, the winner seems to have known prior that she will take the crown or rather it was a foregone conclusion. They do not even forge to have been gripped by the element of surprise.
Thank you! I had won Miss Arkansas just a month prior to winning Miss USA. I felt really unprepared unlike most of the other girls who had a lot of time to get ready. I think that feeling I had going in to the pageant added greatly to my reaction.
