Hey guys I need help There is a watch i found but I dont know if its worth some I dont even know if its original or fake 😂 can y'all help ? I have uploaded it's video on my channel Love y'all
@@sharosatheesh7656 You are indeed correct, I believe I read that she herself was known was wearing a Cartier Tank; and purchased the Omega 36mm quartz models in particular for the two brothers, as a quartz was deemed much easier to maintain for young individuals.
I read somewhere that the Tag in Wolf of Wall Street was used because DiCaprio was (and/or still is) an ambassador for the brand. Using a Rolex was contractually out of the question, so they used a model that would be easily mistaken. He didn't throw it into the crowd because it was unsatisfactory - he threw it into the crowd because one is to believe he was discarding an insanely expensive piece without a second's thought, whilst maintaining contract obligations.
Hey GQ & James, wanted to let you know that some of the info on Cartier is incorrect. Angelina Jolie appears to be wearing a cheaper Must de Cartier Tank not the higher end Tank Louis Cartier. Additionally the Cartier Crash was inspired by a "crashed" Cartier Baignoire NOT a "crashed" Tank Louis Cartier.
Actually the Leonardo Di Caprio part is quite interesting. Match really well with the role in The Wolf of Wall Street. All about blings without substances.
Yep, true! Though, you can get a professional 1000 solid gold, not just gold plated. GPs go for around $1000-1500, while a solid gold one I've seen only once for $4500.
most of them r overprice junk that only few rich fool would buy since watch don't take space to store... i am more happy with my modern one and my ferrari...
@Nylon lmao if you slow it down it's clearly a juul, you can even see the name on it at bottom also there's a frame where you can see the pod top. Definitely not a remote
Also in the wolf of Wall Street Leo wore a 18k solid gold tag heuer series 2000 that has a eta2824-2 cocs certified movement they sell for around £7000-£10000 if you can find one but yes the series 1000 was gold plated and used a quartz movement
It should be noted the Daniel Craig isn't wearing that vintage Omega out of pure love. He is a paid spokesperson for the brand, and is therefore forbidden to wear anything but Omegas whenever he is in public. Further, he is obligated to wear an Omega on press juncets, red carpet affairs, or whenever the watch maker deems it necessary.
He’s still doing that by choice. He could just as easily become an ambassador for Breitling like Brad Pitt or Tag like Leo. Many celebrities make this choice and most likely do so one for the money but two because they also enjoy the watch brand as a whole. That’s why many of them switch companies over the years but still decide to be ambassadors
I like the fact he talked about the significance of PATINA! I'm not a watch guy myself, but I just love everything with patina on it, it tells the passage of time. (pun intended)
By the way, the Heuer 1000 (ref. 988.013) was available in solid 18k gold. I think this is the reference DiCaprio's character would have worn. You'll look like Tony Soprano taking scuba lessons if you wear it, but there you go.
I swear to god if i was rich i would wear only vintage but never rolex. Rolexs are great and look great but theirs so many other options to stand out so much more for so much less
Most that collect know this but watch out for any vintage watch that’s been polished. Polishing the watch takes a small amount of the metal off the watch to remove the scratches. Most people looking for vintage watches do not want to find that it’s been polished. They’d rather have the scratches
It's funny that this video discards a quartz watch as "not proper". :) I own a few HAQ's, and if you delve into quartz' history, you come to appreciate the movements more. That blind spot aside, cool video.
Talks about “neo-vintage” and not buying “mint” watches, and encourages to “overpay for watches.” Super credible and not bias eh. Post-edit: I still love GQ. I’m also sure that this guy is probably very nice when he’s not giving bias and bad recommendations.
"...looking old and used..." vs "...develop unique interesting characteristics..." Saying the same thing in different way. He is a good seller, no doubt about it.
Love this Vid's 💯... It's that certain feeling you get when you own a vintage Time Piece. It's almost always going to have great value, despite the looks.
James mentions in the video that the Cartier Crash was inspired by a deformed Cartier Tank, but I’m sure the watch he’s referring to in the story is actually a Cartier Baignoire. :)
I have all vintage. Other than my dad's rose gold early 1950s Constellation with all docs/box, never serviced until last year, everything I have is blue collar. It would be nice to see a celeb wearing a classic Bulova, Caravelle, Benrus, Waltham, Gruen, or even a Hamilton. However, any vintage watch is 100 times better than an Apple Watch. Horrible things, they are.
Rolex is over rated. People look to Rolex as the best watch makers in the world and the price seems to be reflected that. way recently. A lot people people don't even consider A.Lange & Söhne, F. P. Journe or even Vacheron Constantin.
So many rich people without any imagination and personality, you see that because most of them wear Rolex. And those who pretend to understand and love watches buy vintage Rolex models.
I love how the most prominent book behind him is *A Man & His Watch*
I saw that! Such a good idea
Yup, obviously staged
It’s a good book
its an excellent book

Prince William's watch was gifted by his late mother, Princess Diana. There's more sentimental value there than anything else imo.
It's also the mid-size 36mm model, not the 41mm used by Bond.
@@Willandern yes, a mid-size quartz.
@@sharosatheesh7656 You are indeed correct, I believe I read that she herself was known was wearing a Cartier Tank; and purchased the Omega 36mm quartz models in particular for the two brothers, as a quartz was deemed much easier to maintain for young individuals.
Do y'all know there's more out there than Rolex?
John Mayer's most intresting watch is probably his vintage big pilot watch that y'all just ignored.
Max Siv that watch is about 60mm and is basically unwearable. He even said himself that he got it as a collectors item and doesn’t actually wear it.
There is nothing interesting about John Mayer
@@xandermohan6331 yeah, thanks to Hodinkee?
@@SmithMrCorona John Mayer's probably got more watch stories than you have life stories.

The first 15 minutes of this video is exclusively rolex
And yet still underrepresented if you weight by time on the wrist... ubiquitous for a reason.
Thanks goodness for fast forward functions.
if its not rolex no one cares

@@MrFluffyFufwhich solid gold gp’s go for $4500?
They should change the title to "... Rolex vintage watches"
Even when they are reviewing Leonardo DiCaprio's Hauer, the used images of a vintage Submariner to compare, not a hauer. Sad.
most of them r overprice junk that only few rich fool would buy since watch don't take space to store... i am more happy with my modern one and my ferrari...
@@campkira none Rolex are junk, yeah they are overpriced but Rolex are not RM or Hublot, thats real junk.
*Guy talks about neo-vintage*
GQ only shows vintage watches.
Thanks for including our 6241JPS Ellen DeGeneres deal and the Blueberry. Awesome video guys and well explained James.
More like this please. I'm not a watch guy but still live these videos
Just can’t get enough~ more of these please.
Overall, it’s one of those very cool and refreshing vintage watch vids I ever seen (despite previous comments with all due respect). Cheers

My dad has a vintage watch... his flip phone
Such a great video. Please make more I learned so much
How could talk about John Mayer and not talk about his IWC collection.
I came here just to see James rock a Hawaiian shirt again. Thank you for your service.
I like how he says you can go into any Rolex store and buy an Explorer 2....lol
I can guarantee he’s not wearing pants and not just because he’s in Quarantine
The title of this video should specify that it is almost entirely about Rolex..
Thanks for saving me the time. So sick of this. It's simply not that interesting.
Well, as everyone knows, Rolex is the absolute “top of the pyramid” in watch manufacturing. (rolls eyes)

Nope. He basically re-worded the old saying that "if a deal seems to good to be true, it probably isn't true". Or "nice things cost money".
Timex Weekender or bust.
GQ, send him a microphone!
Iove these watch videos

Less Rolex next time please
James has gone all magnum pi ,wear a GMT master to match the look.
The Audio Makes It Hard to watch
My man forgot Jeff Goldblum's vintage Cartier Tank.
Does anyone know his website that he shared out of NYC?
Kurt Caro Analogshift.com
They forgot John's vintage IWC, although too big still VERY vintage and nice.
Funny how the Omega Speedmaster Pulsations scale only goes as low as 40 bpm. There are super-fit people who occasionally have pulse rates below 40..
great stuff
What is the reference number at 17:27?

Can someone please make a video of a seismologist watching and criticizing San Andreas and other earthquake movies
Man I wanna be a moviestar just to be able to afford a watch collection
Solid gold Rolex day date I'll be happy
Well this doesn't know much. You only operate the crown of a dive watch under water if you're trying to destroy the watch.
This guy is as much of a watch expert as I am a fish expert and I don't eat fish
Pretty cool video
I absolutely loved this video! Great content and the Man who presented did true justice ... Congratulations!
Vintage blueberry is the best vintage rolex
