Around three months ago, I noticed Kevin was posting more watch-related content online, with his video discussing watches as investments, in particular, catching my interest. After responding to his video with my own thoughts, I reached out to see if he would be willing to discuss this further along with other watch-related topics.

If you’re ever in Denver, I’d be happy to do an interview with my entire collection of Casios...
TGV might take you up on that offer.

That’s a good collection no joke
TGV and the watch box crew are sweating bullets right now.
J W. The interview with jean claude biver has them shaking lmao, the only other people on TH-cam to get him in an interview are hodinkee
Teddy might be planning a collab with TGV.
Tim Mosso is celebrating. Watch Box makes money from selling watches. TGV makes money from reading out wikipedia articles.
Lol
TGV is great! But I fee like he focuses on his production value rather than his horological values.... I find myself skipping through his videos (which he obviously spent a lot of time putting thought and hours in editing) but in the end... I’m here for you to talk about watches. Not here to listen to a fucking plastic toy TREX pop jokes...
I honest suspect that Teddy disagrees with Kevin's intention of collecting watches - increase in value, starting conversations and saying collectione
...and those are only the most pretentious things he showed in this video. Just get him talking about politics and see how popular he gets then.
@@KaiserSoze679 that’s what style is about, wearing a watch that increases in price or making money? Why would you do that to yourself? Lose money as soon as you buy something? Maybe because you don’t buy everything you own to make money and would rather have a watch that you can also use to answer phone calls, texts or pay for things with sometimes.
I have even worn a smart watch on my right wrist with a mechanical on my left. If the smart watch battery lasted longer I’d wear one more often as they are a better tool and more accurate time piece than any mechanical watch.
I have to admit I don’t feel very sorry that he lost his collection as he only seems to want them because they are expensive and increase in value.
@@murph8411 he likes the look of the watches he buys and their is nothing wrong about watches which hold or increase in value.
Completely agree with teddy's point there, watches as an investment is honestly just a myth collectors like to perpetuate. You really need to spend loads of money before being even considered for one of the more appreciable watches, and even then, if you do decide to sell you can forget any future prospects with that authorised dealer.. in some cases even other dealers if your name spreads as a seller.
could u explain me why people that want to sell the high level watches are considered bad guys by dealers? i am new here and always read these things, but cant understand why trading watches is seen as somenthing bad
@@DanielSantMont just as how every company wants their stockholders to be long term holders not quick sellers. Think of it like this, if everyone is trying to make a quick buck and sell, the value of the watch is going to fall because no one is giving it long term value. Brands want loyalty from buyers and hate people wanting to make a quick turnover.
And the test determined... That was a lie.
@@DanielSantMont
Several reasons:
Because the company only wants “the right people” to be seen wearing their watches (to control their image)
They don’t want people to buy their watches for the sole purpose of flipping them(to preserve their value)
They want to ensure *actual* collectors are the people receiving the watches
They don’t want thousands of speculators waiting in line to buy watches
@@DanielSantMont A lot of companies actually do this. Ferrari is probably the most famous for it. Once you’re ‘chosen’ to receive an allocation for a rare model(like a la ferrari) you have to sign a contract stating you won’t sell the car for the first 2 years of ownership(to avoid flippers and for the reasons I mentioned in the last post). Celebrities get in trouble if they break the contract and are usually blacklisted. John Cena got in trouble for selling his Ford GT a few months after he bought it (for about double what he paid for it).
Dude, I don't know you anymore, big shot. Next interview, Brad Pitt.

@@thewatchzealot cause they’re even more snob than O’Leary, which is no easy task.
Hilarious... Kevin sounds like a little kid talking about baseball cards or his hot wheels or Star Wars collection, just with a slightly more adult and snobbish vocabulary.
Kevin seemed super excited to make a new friend and talk toys. I would not have guessed the interview going that way.
Very surprising.
Very entertaining.
Well done Teddy.
I've had my Apple stainless watch for 5 yrs now, and still on the original battery. It has a sapphire crystal, has been clumsily smashed into many metal door jambs, and still looks 9 on a 10 scale. 10 different straps & bracelets for it in various materials & colors allow me to stylize with an understated flare.
I typically wear a Rolex on my left wrist, and the Apple on my right. Whenever people say anything, which is often, I hold up both arms and say "THIS is a wristwatch, this is an electronic assistant, and if I want to know the time I look left every time." About half the time that starts a conversation about watches, and that's a good thing. At the end of the day, however, they both improve the quality of my life each in different ways, and I've never been afraid to be different.
Thanks for the vids Teddy! Sparks in Daytona
Please stop wearing 2 watches ⌚️⌚️ it's not stylish
guess you are new money
Buys watches as an investment.
Wants to be buried with his watches.
He just begs for exhumation.
Nobody Famous I’ll be digging up his corpse
Well he’ll be dead... no room for capital in the afterlife I guess
He should have featured on that Drake song "When I die put my money in the GRAve"
I'm rolling 😂 and that collection getting swiped again for a 3rd time
I didn't know anything about Kevin O'Leary at all before this video, but he speaks beautifully about watches and the hobby. He seems full of passion for each of his pieces instead of just being a rich guy throwing money around. Excellent video.
The guy's a greasy, arrogant lying shit.
Agree. Its fun seeing a guy who has everything. Still gets excited about his watch collection. And he appreciates each of them.
You have to love Kevin for his sheer boyish enthusiasm on this topic. And of course he is a fellow (and badly afflicted) victim of our disease - Acute Horological Syndrome :-D
Kevin O'Leary killed two people with his boat today in Northern Ontario August 29th .
Kevin is a victim? Tell that to the various business partners he's had throughout the years including the investors of his software company in the late 90s that all lost their shirts.
I don’t love anything about him. He’s a moron, a pompous jerk, and he absolutely shits on some gorgeous pieces with those red bands
@@monkeyballs512 I couldn't agree more with you. I quit watching the Shit Tank because of him. He thinks his shit don't stank but it does. I usually don't judge people like that but: Kevin you are a pompus ass!
I really liked the fact that Kevin seemed genuinely interested in your opinions. Sometimes famous people just like to talk - but you could tell he wanted to hear what you had to say

Teddy, I am so proud of you. You showed what a knowledgeable, articulate ,young watch expert you are.To stand there with a Billionaire and display your knowledge, and state your opinion, was fantastic. I consider Kevin somewhat of a watch expert himself. The two of you had a very interesting and respectful debate on some slight differences of opinion while entertaining us all. You have taken a large leap into manhood. Well done ,my friend.
Thanks for the heartfelt comment, Ed. Made me smile
Teddy Baldassarre You’re welcome. If you get much classier I’m going to have to call you Theodore.

New subscriber here that is a long time shark tank fan and newly engaged in the watch industry; you Teddy, are a marvel human. To be able to balance Kevin the way you did with class and to avoid confrontation while maintaining a high esteem and intellect was a pleasure to watch. (Pun intended). You’re a gift to humanity with your personality and candidness; soon after your intelligence in the industry. Keep it up.
I got Jordan Schlansky vibes when Kevin started talking about his kolekcione
If only Teddy could've been as sassy as Conan
Congratulations Teddy, I follow you from that “feminine wrist” video, and now you’ve become a man in the watch industry. Follow your dreams man! I’m a subscriber 💪👍
Appreciate it man! Man with feminine wrists on a mission!
Kevin: hey, look at all these red bands!
Teddy: that’s great but watches as investments is a pretty stupid idea, right?
Kevin:... but all the bands are RED. Pretty crazy right?
Lol!
You do know, inside of minutes all of those watches can be rebanded back to as they came out of the box. He's an actor on Shark Tank as well as an investor. No, I don't care for the color, but he's into trademarking himself as a brand on Shark Tank. Of course the difference between being crazy and eccentric is the size of your bank account too.
i lolled
@@VersedNJ he being eccentric to catch attention...
Actually they are orange. Kevin is colour blind.
A true watch enthusiast, for someone to have 2 collections stolen and to build again. Painful.
For most of us it would be like being in a firing squad and living to tell the tale twice. But for Kevin. It’s like a paper cut followed by another paper cut.... his wallet isn’t feeling the hit like “all of us”. It’s just another check he needs to write lol
@@alexthelegoguy4504 all the watches on a table are like $300K at best. For a billionaire .. pff.
“I don’t tell people where they are anymore, I just carry watches with me”

I totally understand where Teddy is coming from with respect to watches not necessarily being a great investment vehicle for everyone. What we are seeing here is differences in perspective between an industry professional and a pure collector. Jewelry and watch industry professionals, if they are being honest, will rarely recommend these products as investment vehicles. There are for sure better ways to allocate capital.
I love the fact that Kevin truly cares for and respects the craftsmanship and the relationship between the watch and the wearer. He isn't just a billionaire buying the most expensive piece he can. He wants each piece to mean something and tell a story.
I sense a theme in O'Leary's watch strap selection...
😂😂😂😂
I'm not seeing it.....🤔
Kevin is colour blind and thus he thinks the straps are red when they are actually orange.
Yes, douchiness
I have a huge respect for Kevin O'Leary and I was just amazed to hear his stories about his watches. Thank you for this interview! I loved it!

Great score/land on this Teddy!
Thank you my friend! I hope you’re well!
Wow! Didn’t know you were a watch fan too! (Apart from seeing some in your videos lol) Love your videos man!
Some people: “Let’s steal his collecsiooooon”
It's his own fault lmao what an idiot, anyone with that big of a collection should keep most of it in the bank
Robbin I have a few good watches and I thought of putting it in my safety deposit box, but what’s the point. If I can’t wear my watches, why have them.
RickJason No offense but you obviously don't have a big enough collection to worry about this kind of stuff, so it doesn't apply to you. Once you start to hit 10 watches or more, that's when you would have to put most of it in the bank. Then you can simply keep 5 at the house for example, cycle through those, then go to the bank once in a while to switch them out for 5 other ones. This is all relative to the size of someone's collection
I like the continuity of the collection.
@@MatraBatra with that kind of money I'd install a pretty safe safety deposit box at home. So I can keep other stuff there as well. With some fingerprint and voice recognition and call 911 if attempted to be broken. But I guess when you got your collection stolen and you can order all same watches same evening without even noticing.. it doesn't matter.
The more I see Kevin outside of the show, the more I like him. Great conversation
Me too
It's so true to say it is very hard to 'monetize' your watch collection. I have a couple of steel Rolex's I bought as investments but, despite the prices you see online, the platforms take such a huge % that negates the profit of someone choosing to buy from me.
Watch dealers look for margins around 45-55% (in my experience) and unless you are buying the sort of watches Kevin talks about - you ain't making any money on 10k watches.
I'm surprised Kevin doesn't have a MVMT piece in his Collectioné
Or a top tier Vincero
Look, this is how I see it ok,he clearly doesn't know much about watches but it seems like he likes it a lot ,i see him as producer michael.
Or a Casio
@@ivan6navi hey, my Casio calculator watch still hits hard.
Looks so different to the older videos, with a real sense of evolution, but don't get me wrong I like all your videos since I found them
If he says collectioné like that again... I’m going to throw a kitten in a river.
😂 Seriously! It's like he's trying real hard to pitch that phrase. So corny.
And for that reason I'm out.
Mr O'Leary is Canadian, he was born in Montreal. So he probably just does it naturally as he probably speaks French
I know right. It's super annoying
Baldy should buy a watch once he can grow hair 🤣
Wonderful is a salesman . He make things look better than they are actually.
I think what's funny about this video, after going back to watch it again, is how you went in thinking you were going to have to fight Kevin, but both of you ended up having a lot more in common than you thought to the point you guys are doing videos together all the time. I can't believe how well it turned out!
Love hearing Kevin's passion in discussing watches. I don't necessarily agree with all of his style points, but it is undeniably unique and an image.

If someone broke into my house and found my watch collection, they'd probably just take the display case I bought on Amazon, and leave the watches...lol

I have no idea how you got Mr. Wondeful to do an interview with you. I have been watching the Shark Tank show on CNBC for years.
Fascinating interview. You handled it very well, Kevin is knowledgeable and funny.
Definitely number 1 in the watch youtube community, you are making great progress. Looking at all of this makes me miss your first intro 🤣 At that time I thought I thought this was a fashion channel, Im glad I stayed all the way through. Congrats!
I talked Watches from the beginning but watches became the only focus over time. Thanks for sticking with me!
Hey Ted, to be honest. This is one of the best, if not, the best, watch interview I've ever watched. Its a real discussion, full of agreement and disagreement from two persons who are knowledgeable about watches, the business, and its industry, rather than just nodding at each every opinion. Good stuf man! Subscribing
I get that watch "sickness" because is the chase of timeless pieces, the relationships that you build, etc. Great video, better than many movies right now
Love how Kevin runs his brand through and through. Great marketer. Great video. Not a red band fan but respect commitment...and I kind of want one now.
Teddy, you're really killing it right now. Loving all these great interviews. Keep up the great work bud, cause the watch community is grateful for all the great content.
Having a red band on every single watch is bizarre. That's his taste and thats fine but nothing stylish about it.
Kevin is a Piru Blood from Compton
its because of shark tank, they make him wear one color band.
Agreed. It's an 8 year olds approach to 'style' 😂
I think it looks sweet, personally.
Style is way more subjective than you’re making it out to be.
I can’t remember the last time I watched a 42 minute TH-cam video, good video Ted!
The longest video I watched was Avengers Endgame

I remember when Teddy had 30 Subscribers, a long way ever since. Great investor providing excellent content.
Teddy, your most recent content has hit it out of the park! Looking forward to what's coming up.
Kevin wasn't "speculating" about London Jewelers keeping their AP AD status by having a standalone AP boutique inside London Jewelers. He already knew that was the plan....which it is
Chances are, he probably had some insider information. But he is someone well-versed in business and heavily invested in the watch industry. I wouldn't be surprised if he knew that was going to be the case due to the "exclusivity" many brands want to create.
Opposite to these guys, I love it when he said the term collection in French. It shows his passion. In life, you will go far when you truly believe in and have passion for something. This is a man of class.
I love watches and fountain pens which will quite often also lead to interesting conversations when in business meetings. The pens fire up conversations more often than my watches do. I have a few nice pieces of both but can’t imagine collecting at the level of Kevin. I love his passion when talking about his collection and what fires him up.

There is no need to cut these videos. This is so much fun to watch 😊
I love Kevin's passion for his collection, the industry, and collecting. Great interview.
Pretty good call when he said keeping certain ADs on as boutique only build-outs with AP owning 51%. He cited London Jewelers as an example. I just attended London's boutique opening, registered my name with them and bought a Royal Oak Chrono. Sales told me AP required it and owned 51% of it and that to continue selling AP, the AD would need to take a 49% risk in the venture to move forward. Lucky guess or did O'Leary know in advance?
Very interesting! I am sure he got some insight being a high volume buyer
Congrats teddy, if you have time please do a video about watches under 2k but over 40 mm. I also love your vintage watch videos but they are all so small that I cant wear them with a bigger wrist.
I haven’t done much for watches for a larger wrist so that could be fun!

I really truly do appreciate Kevin's passion for the watch and watchmaking industry. I also respect his stance on style. However I feel like 90% of the population who actually buys watches either doesn't know the first thing about investing or doesn't/can't afford to buy watches as investments. I personally collect solely in the budget
I never liked watches till I start working at movado,I’m 18 and now in days people don’t really appreciate how unique watches are and now I found ur TH-cam Chanel and vids like this make me get more into the watch world,it’s crazy

Why is that?
Why.
He’s passionate about watches and has tons of money. Who cares. If you had the money that he had you would probably be the same way. Extreme amounts of money and wealth can and will change most people.
I dunno, I think Kevin talking about people having “no souls” is a little ironic.
If billionaires had souls they'd give so much stock to employees that they'd no longer be billionaires. Really tho anybody who puts a red strap on a hulk is a psychopath.
Teddy this was such a good conversation about the industry. Have you considered doing an update with Kevin?
Man you guys are so great together, I can't get enough of these videos, both of you look so good together, your personalities mesh quite well, you're both so knowledgeable, I've been BINGE WATCHING THESE VIDEOS and I can't get enough.... Both of you have great taste in timepieces, you guys both seem to have developed a genuine friendship, and let's face it, we've got two powerhouses from two different generations, which is what the world needs MUCH MORE OF.... And I don't mean this in a bad way AT ALL. Kevin isn't "old" and Teddy isn't a "kid" but there is some distance between the two of your ages, and these videos are a FANTASTIC EXAMPLE of how beneficial a friendship is with a person outside of your age group. One of my longest friends is over a decade older than me, and I could not have possibly been more blessed. I think that's part of why I appreciate these videos so much... you guys, I mean, its the internet, its "tv" but you guys seem to GENUINELY enjoy each other's company, and man, I can't get enough of that..... IF ONLY more people would seek out a solid, genuine friendship like this, the world would absolutely be a better place.

I'm not so sure having your entire collection wiped out twice still constitutes it as an investment.
