  • Texas weather is notoriously odd and this year is no different. Remember early December 2013? We were covered in ice and many people had no power. This year the temperatures have been in the sixties and we got some rain last night!
So strange, regardless it has been cold enough for our pool temperatures to be below the level ideal for algae and bacteria growth. This makes taking care of the pool much easier.
I tested the PH and Chlorine:
    Free Chlorine - 1.0 PPM
    Total Chlorine - 1.0 PPM
By having Borates, Enzymes and Minerals in this pool I am able to keep it sanitized, oxidized and algae free with very little chlorine. I added a 3" tablet over a week ago and over 3/4 of it is still intact yet I have 1.0 PPM Free Chlorine built up!
    PH - 7.4
This is down a bit from the 7.6 it has been at for the past few weeks. The rain we got last night may very well have been acidic in nature. That would explain the drop in PH.
I added 8 ounces of CV-700 (the appropriate dose for a 15,000 gallon pool) and I also added Scale Tec by EZ Care. This pool has some serious calcium scale issues and I have had a few people ask me to try out Scale Tec on it.
So today I began the process. Scale Tec claims to give visible results in as little as 2 to 4 weeks. I added the appropriate dose for a 15,000 Gallon pool which is 3 liters. I simply poured it into the Spa and it should circulate around by the end of the day.
We'll give it a few weeks and see what happens! Until next week friends! Happy Holidays!
