- The heat is killer in Texas. Seriously, every July almost 100 people die from heat related causes. Luckily we have swimming pools.
Last week I commented on the pool not circulating properly and this week I noticed the same problem. The culprit; high filter pressure. When your filter pressure jumps 10 psi above the "clean filter pressure" reading, your pool will not circulate as well as it should. This can cause a multitude of issues including cloudy water, algae, and mold.
Luckily for me I am using Borate, PoolRX, Quat60 and Enzymes regularly. Despite not having more than .2 PPM chlorine for over two weeks my pool is staying crystal clear and algae free.
I was only able to test the basic chemicals today:
Chlorine - 0 to 0.2 PPM
Very low, but with the pool not circulating properly because of the clogged filter it is no surprise. I back-washed the filter and everything should return to normal.
PH - 7.6 to 7.8
Perhaps a little on the high side but it can be difficult to get a proper reading chemically when the pool has not been circulating like it should.
I added all the regular maintenance chemicals and did a backwash. Next week we will do a full blown water test to really see what the chemistry looks like.
