They laugh at him, but he probably has a better story to dine out on than any of them... "next thing you know, I'm coming on for le tissier!"
I wouldn't mind the whole world laughing at me for 5 minutes playing the Premier League :)
But it also makes you a con man who lacks honesty.
You're right. Ali Dia can always say he played in a Premier League match. I can't.
@@liquidgeorge imagine a prem team getting done by a con artist lol

You would dumb to think if EA actually cares about thier fans and if they even give a F about adding a bit of humor and sarcasm in their game lol
Souness has had time to tweak the story to how he wants it over the years
exactly. if he says he knew he was bad but had to bring him on cos there was nobody else, then who did he sub on when he took ali dia off after 20 minutes?
@@georgiecasey it was a defender as he was THAT bad
@@georgiecasey a centre back, the internet has the info you need
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@georgiecasey Souness might have got away with that lie pre Internet. Google reveals Australian international Robbie Slater was on the bench for Southampton that day. Would have been near enough a like for like replacement for Le Tissier. Sourness tells anyone who'll listen to him he wasn't conned. Nobody believes him.
Matt Le Tissier clearly says on another video interview "I'm not sure how a man of Graham's experience fell for that." He knows the truth as we all do. Graham was conned, and he is trying to hide his embarrassment with a concocted story. The idea that he would bring Dia on instead of anyone else on the bench, if he knew how terrible he was, is ridiculous.
This will never get old this story is right up there with the very best 😂😂😂😂💪🏾👌🏾 all I know is if Ali Dia scored who knows what would have happened
He almost did! 😀
It get's proper embarrassing, is what what happens. They'd probably have given him a season long contract.
All you know is if he’d scored who knows what would’ve happened… wtf 😂
In the clip Graeme says there was 2 up front, Le Tissier went off and he had a bench full of Wingbacks and Centerbacks. Surely if he thought the boy was that bad he'd just throw an extra centerback on and go 5-4-1?
yeah that struck me too as being odd. Souness couldve moved Berkovitz into Le Tissiers position and subbed on Robbie Slater (a good player) into midfield.
This is the reason I don’t take souness serious
Borris Walnut yeah forget the 5 league titles and 3 European cups they don’t mean anything do they😂👍🏼

Me thinks Souness is lying here. He got mugged right off.
Too right he's never lived it down and still fuming about it now.
Yep he was pug washed 😂
I think he is telling the truth
Definitely, souness very embarrassed about all this!
Yeah, he never explained how the guy got the trial in the first place or why he included him if he was that bad
This could have never happen today. Teams scouting networks are so complex and so well organized nowadays that they could quickly realise the guy is faking a football career. In that way, we can say that Ali Dia was lucky that we got that "opportunity" at the right era.
Plus the internet, hard to blah you played for PSG when someone can prove it’s BS in seconds
@@drewwalton5973 People can just look him up at Transfermarkt and it's over in 3 minutes
How the hell do you end up in a position where you literally have no other strikers at all in the entire infrastructure of the club and end up playing literally a guy off the streets? Souness is clearly embarrassed by that story.
Agreed. Southampton FC had/has an amazing academy. Surely they could have drafted in an academy striker.
he wasnt literally off the streets though. the guy was of about semi-professional standard.
Football has changed a lot over the years and teams didn't have the infrastructure they have these days in the 90's, nowhere near, especially a team like Southampton.
as a legend, Ali Dia should be given a statue outside the stadium
Fifa icon card
There is a whole chapter about this story in Le Tissier's book.
Souness doesn't mention it in his biography though. Strange that...
@@EM.Bricklaying I haven't read Souness's book but Souness was Southampton's manager at that time and gave Ali Dia his PL debut.
Graeme has surely lied. Ali dia was signed by him thinking he was a brilliant footballer. 🤣
Yup probably thought he got a cheap dime on hes hands
Ali Dia walked so Dom Solanke could run
Lmaoooo
Brilliant comment
14 goals so far this season (23/24)
Was a great story for which Souness digs himself a bigger hole everytime he talks about the subject. On the 20th Aniversary in 2016, The Bleacher Report despatched a reporter to track down Dia to get his version of the saga. After traipsing around half of Africa and Europe, she eventually tracked him down in London! Guess where the reporter was based. Dia went on to gain an honours degree in business studies in the US. If he still has his shirt from that day, that would be smart business. It must be worth a fortune.
He's not selling that, that's his best possession
He's not selling that, that's his best possession
Nice home decor Graham, I particularly like the statue of a man on a horse. It's given a mysterious feel due to the silhouette it casts.
I was there at the Dell on that day and as someone has already said he almost scored at one point but fluffed the chance completely... I think Souness has been thinking of an explanation for this through all the intervening years and then he blames poor old Matt (probably our best ever player) for it!!!
Plus throwing Terry Cooper under the bus by saying it was his idea to play him. Souness has been claiming for years to anyone who will listen to him, he wasn't conned. Nobody believes him.
Very funny story about Ali Dia! Graeme Souness was conned, I think Matt Le Tissier said, Ali Dia was rubbish & hopeless in training and when he came on for him after 20 minutes, he ran around the pitch like Bambi on ice, it was very embarrassing, but the funny thing is nearly scored in the match, but the keeper saved it, but just imagine if he had scored!
Wait till you lot here that Paul Pogba is Ali Dia's nephew....LOL.
booyakasha My brudda I'm not cousins with a bust
@@cavs6663 lol ok ali dia mate.
I thought Pogba
was his stepson, lol.
Le Tissier: It was unbelievable 😮😮😮 he ran around the pitch like Bambi on Ice 😅😅😅 it was very embarrassing to watch 😳😳😳
What an entrance to make in professional football.... Coming on for Matthew Le Tissier! 😜

Cheers mate. Just had 5 wanks. Bad times.

“Don’t lose focus keep your eyes on your dreams” - Ali Dia
Grace, stop typing meaningless gibberish on the internet, it doesn't help anyone
Souness continues to tell anyone who will listen to him, he wasn't conned. He was. He also claims his only other options on the bench to Dia were defenders. Le Tissier was a right sided midfielder/striker. Australian International Robbie Slater was on the bench that day - a right sided midfielder. He claims he knew he was rubbish in the first five minutes of training the first time he saw him. Strange. After the game he claimed Dia had looked sharp in training and was going to give him another chance. He's even thrown Terry Cooper, his own assistant under the bus by claiming it was his idea. Nice. Souness can deny all he likes. Nobody is fooled. He was conned and suckered in by 'George Weah.'
Ali Dia was to playing what Gary Neville was to managing.
Dia wasn't THAT bad!
Ah no Graeme ‘He looked sharp in training’
Le tis is a genius and a legend
More of him pls
You have to wonder where Pogba was in all of this
Pogba is Ali Dea's love child...
Does anyone have this full match? Need to see it
Matt Le Tissier what a legend.
Souness’ punditry should always be questioned. He signed Ali Dia, a player who would look out of place in the Vanarama League
What do you mean would? He did! Signed for Gateshead after Southampton and (although he did score a couple of goals) was shite for them too 😂😂
Harry Redknapp first got the call from ' george weah' and knew it was a windup, shame souness wasnt as clever 😂😂
I love what Tony Pulis said after getting a call from 'George Weah' when Gillingham manager. "As if George Weah would have ever heard of Gillingham." 😂
@@RebelRebelious 🤣🤣🤣 if i knew souness was an idiot,i would have scammed him myself
1:40 "fool"? And this, friends, is why he doesn't like Pogba. Since then, he's had nightmares.

Ever heard of Alan Shearer or Gareth Bale?
Flowers, Shearer, Bale, Mané, Benali, Shilton, Van Dijk, Ball, Lallana, Keegan...
David McConechy hahaahahah are you joking me
Ed Morrison Bale?! Are you stupid
Fair play to him he should have scored and would have probably got a 4 year deal!!
No mention of Pogba? Surprising.
Souness was really hoping she wouldn't ask this one lol

Souness post game against Leeds says "Dia looked sharp in training".........
Should have got him on the show 🤣
Should of played for England much more than he did.
Venables should of built team around him for Euro 96
Not around Alan Shearer then? One of the world’s top strikers? Or maybe Gascoigne…
2:40 😂
Souness should just admit that occasionally as a manager you have to trust and rely on others without doing the homework yourself and this occasion it did not work
The story doesn't check out, if he was really that bad, he still wouldn't have been on the bench, they would have taken players from the reserve squad. Souness got conned.
Wonder if Graeme Souness blamed Pogba for all this 🤔
Football can either be the hardest thing to get into or an unbelievably easy gravy train
Fair play to him. Great Story to tell his Grandchildren :-)
Classic, souness can't even take the blame hes so embarrassed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
His name is Aly, not Ali.
Graeme "Not my fault!"
didnt oh my goal make a vid on this
yep
"We weren't kidded, we weren't conned" cause you weren't Greame, that's why you played a Sunday league player in the Premiership.
Get souness to put his AirPods in properly so we can hear him better
He was no Wealdstone Raider
Graeme, just admit that you were too idle to check Ali Dia out yourself at the time. And you were not just lazy, but flimsy as well !
Dont believe Souness
So you dont have a U21's?
Giving one of them a chance would have been better!
I wish he scored 🤣🤣🤣
Would have been more interesting
Every time Matt Le Tissier tweets, one of his goals should be awarded to Ali Dia.
Put down the shovel, Graeme, before you end up in Australia ☺
To be fair, Ali Dia has played more Premier League minutes than 99.99% of us will ever achieve. Not all of those missing out could do worse...
Wtf is souness wearing the airpods upside down?
Ali dia, highlights, goals and assists, the next Ronaldo?
I'm not sure there was a camera present to capture what he subsequently did at Blyth Spartans
So he deliberately played someone who had no experience despite the fact playing a goalkeeper as a striker would have been a better option? And then he gets rid of him afterwards instead of keeping him incase they needed atleast someone on the bench like they apparently did? Make it make sense lmao
Surprised Liverpool didn't buy him
Serious question, why didnt matt play more for England?
he hated training and running ;)
@@bhew7409 Exactly. Hoddle was underused despite getting 50+ caps, as he actually put tackles in.
Berkovic what a player
S Clayton
He joined my team West Ham after he was a fantastic player,I was gutted when he left for Celtic for bigger wages ( that wouldn’t happen today ) as Celtic players earn a fraction of what our premier league players do now.

I don't believe a word of what Souness said.
Souness.... "It's all Matt's fault"
how is le tissier look older than souness smh
Rumor has it that he is signing for Gerrard at rangers, they say he will become a 40 million pound player.
Why not just call up someone from the youth team with potential lol?
Is that a wee statue of King Billy on Souness's window ledge? 🤔
Of course it's pogba's fault for not knowing ali dia. He should have known it
Still can’t hear him properly because he’s got them things in upside down
it sounds even worse this way
To be fair he had a better work rate than Matt
Anyone else think Graham is bullshitting to save face
So they didn’t have any youth players?
Are they any Southampton fans with a sense of humour that wear his name and number on these retro remake football shirts?
Ali Dia has a bad cameo and gets his career ruined.
But Alexis has been doing that since 2018
Your comment has absolutely no meaning to it. You're assembling words together that in a way pertain to each other, but are essentially random because as a whole they have no meaning. Did you recieve an education or not?
