Le God's technique was out of this world. I consider myself lucky to have started following football while he was still playing. Have never seen anyone scored more spectacular goals while looking like it was a sunday kickabout. he made ridiculously difficult shots seem stupidly easy. thanks for the memories, matt. good to see you are well
One of the most underrated gooal scorers ever to be honest. I find it terrible how little credit he gets these days. On his dayt he was world class. Scored so many incredible goals.
As a kid he was honestly one of my favourite players even though i'm more of a Pompey supporter Le Tissier's style was always fantastic to see. I still remember his 40 yard chip goal over Tim Flowers against Blackburn back in 94. He was such an insane goalscorer for a side that were constantly struggling. 6 seasons running he got into double figures for goals and 4 of those seasons it was 15+ goals. That record for a side well into the bottom half of the table and for him to never get a big move is crazy by todays standard.
I remember when I first moved to London from the US at 9 years old, I was just kinda getting into soccer(football). I think the year was 94 or 95 and Liverpool were playing Southampton at The Dell. My cousin was watching the game with me and before kick-off, he pointed at Le Tissier on the tv and said to me "Watch this guy!! Watch him!!!" Le Tissier scored a hat trick that game including scoring in the 1st minute. The game ended 4-2. That was my first time knowing who Matt Le Tissier was!!
I'm a Pompey fan and Le Tiss is still one of my favourite players of all time. I think it;s mostly because i did watch him a lot as a kid as i watched all of the Southampton games that were on TV as they were also local and i didn't really care about any rivalries at that age, still don't really. Le Tissier was a top quality striker and so badly underrated
Good to see LeTissier still in the same shape he used to play in! Imagine how good he would’ve been with the benefit of the conditioning and dieting coaches available today! Awesome player
My cousin always tells me a story about watching Matt warm up when Southampton played villa. He said the goalposts were being carried out and Matt nudged his team mate to say watch this and struck the moving crossbar from about half the pitch. Legend
I remember the first time I saw Matt Le Tissier play (on TV of course)...it just didn’t make sense, how a such a big man would just glide past opponents, leave the for dead and hit shots that leave goalkeepers motionless...it was a amazing. As a bigger kid, I was always asked to play in defence....Le God gave me the confidence to improve my ball control skills and play further forward, he basically showed that you didn’t need pace to play !
As a Toon supporter, I dreaded seeing him against us as he always scored a blinder, but in all honesty he is one of the best players ever to grace the Premier League.
@@setantii298 not underrated though cause everyone recognizes his talent, gazza was a midfielder le tiss more of a second forward, could've of played in the team together, managers distrusted him cause he wasn't hard working
As a Watford supporter I can honestly say Le Tiss was the best. Honest, loyal, down to earth and supremely skilled. One of a kind. Southampton were blessed. Prowse ain't bad either!
Great interaction between 2 likeable Southampton legends in their right element. MLT is really a natural interviewer and a great ambassador for club and for football in general.
To be fair, he was probably kicking himself he didn't then!.....I mean, you don't really expect a guy his age...and shape to be able to compete with premiership players but clearly he could.
Nice nostalgia goggles on you, but JWP is much more clinical at FK's, and has already scored more than him and is just 26 years old. Le Tissier is still a legend, just no need to inflate the legend.
We have ward prowse one of the worlds best dead ball experts .probably the best we have ever produced bar beckham . Then we leave him not only out of the team but the entire squad. This when we have Mr free kick winner Jack grealish available. These are the way goals are scored in tournament football. Together they could have won us the euros. Well done Mr Southgate. Totally bewildering!!
Ci sono tanti campioni nel calcio..ma vedere Le Tissier è indescrivibile l'emozione che crea con le sue giocate.. per me uno dei più grandi calciatori..
One of the most underated players le tissier but stayed loyal and one club when he could Of went else where. Fair play to him Always be a legend and I’m a Geordie...scored One of his best goals against us
53 goals scored from the spot out of 54 pens taken. Fittingly the only keeper ever to save a LeTiss pen was Mark Crossley who at the time had the best record for penalty-saving in the premiership. It took the best to beat the best.
Competition between two criminally underrated Southampton players. Le Tissier was never given his due respect and unfortunately neither with Ward-Prowse
He was incredible, but was literally too lazy for international level. Who do you take out at that time? Ince, Gascoigne, Platt. Couldnt play him up top with Shearer as his partnership with Sheringham was on fire. Maybe should have got more opportunities, but he was a luxury and you cant carry them at the top level.
Le tissier totally underrated. Englands own salsa player. Didnt play anywhere near enough for England with his talent. Just look at the goals he scored and created. What a player!
Le Tissier played in an era when midfielders where expected to constantly busy trying to win the ball and flair players were regarded with suspicion. The most obvious examples of this is the fact that donkey Carlton Palmer won 10 more England caps than Le Tiss and Graham Taylor's ludicrous decision to drop Chris Waddle from the England team when he was regarded as one of most dangerous wingers in Europe.
I’m from Guernsey and Le Tiss is a legend quite rightly full respect for staying at Southampton and definitely should have had more England caps, BTW his brother Kevin also should’ve gone pro just as good as Matt but stayed with his family in Guernsey.
Le Tissier was a magician with ball and was up there with Glen Hoddle and Paul Gascoine in terms of natural ability. Sadly, he seemed to peak at a time when England adopted a more direct and mechanistic system and he would never have fitted in that. My mate at the time used to say that the England team should have been based around Le Tissier. He was spot on.
Up late watching anything football related on TH-cam... Again. Thank F**k for football. I ain’t half appreciated it a whole lot more during this awful year and it’s bloody lockdowns. Who agrees???
You guys need to get Matt back on sky and apologise to him. It's a disgrace that you fired someone for expressing a difference of opinion. He's a good man who does loads for charity, he's never been involved in anything horrible, he doesn't disrespect or bully people, he's a nice, humble, honest, decent family man. If there's no room for that at your organisation then something is wrong. You don't have to agree with what he said in order to respect his right to say it.

Dammit now I gotta go watch Le Tissier's goal compilation again today. Fantastic player.
His pum pum stinks
Bro it’s unbelievable
Matt Le Tissier, criminally under rated, and perplexes me how he was never properly used for England.
I heard Hoddle held a grudge when he was England manager because he didn't sign for him at club level. Might be bollocks.
Eddy E it’s not
