The reason wasteland was $100 a couple years ago is because there were still tournaments going on for legacy and vintage which those were must haves for most fair decks. Now that there are no GP and if you're lucky you get to play legacy more than once a year the demand for them drop so the price drops now it's just a one of $20 card in some Red Land destruction deck for commander

a lot of prog rock, psychedelic and even regular rock bands in the 60s/70s were inspired by LotR lore. Their albums covers reflect this. So it doesn't seem so weird to me. I have different issues with the artistic choices and flavour of certain cards, but the poster cards look lit.
It's really confusing some people like these unreadable cards with tons of text. In most playgroups I've ever been part of, people often at first say "oh that's cool you have that version", but what most folks actually look like is raised eyebrows with "omg that doesn't feel like mtg, u cant even read it, what is this". I don't think most of these different foils and design will ever really have high value. Do you really want to play EDH (which already has too much of text reading, cards getting wordier and with focus on EDH so many new cards are coming in) with cards from 5 years ago noone can even read?
I hate this set, I just got into MTG with the "first" LOTR set, and I set out to collect the whole thing. This new release ruined it. There's like 1000 cards now, and most of those are just variants. Why do surge foils get their OWN set numbering as opposed to just being like foils and having the same set numbering? Why do I have to collect a card in borderless, showcase, surge foil borderless, surge foil showcase, scroll treatment versions? And there's like, 500 cards like this. That is INSANE. If you want to make "collector boosters," you have to make the set COLLECTABLE. So now I'm just gonna sell the collection I have so far and give up on this piece of shit set, thanks for running it into the ground wizards. Pokemon does set collecting SO much better.
I like this release, and picking up the singles that I like, but it is a real FU to the people who went all in on the original release. The key hits were the 1/1 ring, surge foil box toppers, and the serialized sol rings. This new release obliterated the surge foil box toppers and added so many more variants to the point where the prices are just crashing so hard, game pieces to the moon.

This is all HYPE!!! Pretty soon those $5.00 to $10.00 cards will be worth $1.00 to $2.00 as more are opened up. I bet some will be .50 cents. Our group will not buy this GARBAGE. Why should players buy expensive LOTR Special Edition Collectors boxes and getting $100.00 worth of cards which will tank in price. Those Poster cards are not special at all with the exception of the foil one ring poster art. They are showing up everywhere. Wizards have printed tons of the LOTR cards and more will be released later on. So many cards ARE collapsing on the secondary market. Check the prices 2 months from now. Thank you for the video Rudy.

There is already one The Ring Card and if you should go on different variants its The One Ring from Ice set in 1995. I heard rumours Wizard lost the race on the rights on that release. If I have to choose one from Wizards its the Silver lining one. The poster one looks like the hobbits has smoked to much. 😀
Caracas sucks because it’s banned in commander. Also you’ve go a good point, this set may have been a test, printing one run and then cutting the chase cards for the second.
I don't agree with the "set being so big that you don't hit some cards" They purposely made nazguls hard to get which makes no sense to me with them being an uncommon. I looked into the pull statistics of nazgul and wizards refuse to let players have them for some reason. I bought set boxes at launch and got one nazgul... like wtf?

How can an uncommon be so rare to have only 2 in a case especially when there are 9 versions.
I think it only counts as one card with 9 variations. So it’s only 1x pull rate not 9x pull rate
