Double Masters limited was some of the most fun I’ve had playing Magic recently, it was a blast to draft
Double Masters 1 and Modern Horizons 1 was the peak

For $1200 you could've bought singles of 3x mana crypt, chrome mox, and mox opal with money to spare. I've been done with sealed since 2022. Good riddance

this was my first masters set and the first set to come out after i got a real job and could afford things
"One of the sets where card quality was really great" - indeed, guess why it is still desired compared to many of those that came after with lower and lower quality, chipping, bad cutting etc etc. Not to forget they increased prices while lowering quality.
First 2 box toppers were about $97 and the second 2 box toppers were about $64.
Great product that wasn't overprinted.
I LOVED this set. I wish I could go back in time and re-live it all again. Such A high quality product. Like you said, the card quality is incredible. I've had cards from this set sitting in a cupboard since 2020 - No curling, Perfect quality, and the smell of the cards is totally unique. You can tell they really went out of the way to make this a very special set.
Mesmeric Orb was like $5 bout 6 months ago but Fallout just pushed it past $20ish. Lots of mill stuff recently skyrocketed
This is what I love most about this channel. Opening older masters sets is something special, and Rudy's unique commentary and approach is so entertaining and captivating. Great to see these openings again!

I’ve been around since the beginning of your channel (i was here before the rifles video) I really enjoyed the video today… I kind of fell off from playing/buying around late 2019. I remember knowing double masters was coming out, but due to life, fell off of playing before it came out.. the nostalgia was real in this video! I just started again and so much has changed!!! I couldn’t believe the card art… P.S. i even tried to meet creepy Rudy years ago by doing a little creeping off my own. Found your storefront off one of your first videos when you were just getting the space and stopped by when i was down in jax. Super dark tint, and no answer when i knocked. Would have loved to have met you. Magic, investing, guns, kindred spirits indeed!

Best doubling season of all time
I almost missed on this when it dropped. Christmas bonus came in and was able to get 1. Probably my favorite set since I got back to it in 2018
Rudy is a sommelier of old magic cards. He mastered the smells, the tastes, the feels, the way to pair them with tacos.

Double Masters was the last set I ever bought.
I was so sad Ad Nauseam never had a foil extended box topper. Would have been so much cooler than one of the cards which already received premium treatment in Kaladesh and Amonkhet.
Wow, that was a lot of money for a handful of decent cards.
Even the artwork is way better than most of the modern stuff, even stuff before this set.

For anyone else who was curious, a foil Vulshock Gauntlets was worth about $0.25 USD back in 2016. Even then most foil commons and uncommons were worthless sadly, with all the money being in the rares and mythics (for the most part).
I remember owning an playin good ole Dr. Jace!

Arguably the most destructive set Wizards printed. Draft boxes were severely under printed and Wizards decided to crank up the price for a second mythic/rare. The sets massive success in being a long term home run led to WotC watering down rare/mythic values and justification asking for insane prices.

one of the few mtg cards i still own is an original pack fresh dar blood moon. i loved having them in my sb from back in the day red burn deck. i think they called it sleigh or red deck wins now but yeah it was a nice card to wreck the rich peoples fancy lands decks!

I bought 4 boxes of VIP Double Masters on ebay 3 years ago before Christmas from a seller in Europe. When it arrived at my place in the US it as 4 booster boxes of Double Masters in French. Should I be happy?

Dm mesmaric orb, for whatever reason, is worth more than the original, but its market price is 21.50
Finally a good magic product
Everybody always bashed on this set in the box topper slot for the "Goblin Guide Expedition Map" pairing - But what about the "Cyclonic Rift Brainstorm" pairing ?? Never saw anything about this but over the years I've seen that pairing pop up over and over.
I like the fact that he adores the printing of it but here in Europe we have the even better printing from Belgium. Nice to see Double Masters again. Prices here in Europe are € 350 for such a box. That is around 380 dollars.

It's expensive because the card quality in the set is excellent. You have cards like brainstorm and doubling season.
Everything is what Magic should be in this product. From the building of the box, opening those packs and the box toppers you got! How on earth has Wizard failed so much with Playboosters ?!?!

Here in Europe they are about 400 dollars.
I think that the expansion of demand due to expansion of player base has something to do with it. More people (new players) have created greater overall demand for the cards despite re printing.

I dunno TCG has Brainstorm/Cyclonic at 63, vs Doubling/Noble at 89. Not a huge disparity.
