This was shot at a mansion that they rented for the day. The room was pretty empty. All of the mantle and floor decor they brought with them. The subtle gold and blue tones are a homage to the fact that the song originated in Ukraine. I didn't hear sweet silver bells, rather big iron cathedral ones. The album artwork matches the tone perfectly. You should check out what Huldra Draco did with this video and one from the Muppets!
For your comment about Geoff looking around and making eye contact with the other Geoffs -- honestly one of the most impressive things about his videos, to me! He marks out where he's going to stand on the floor, but he also just has such a clear mental picture of what the scene is going to look like, and he has to remember which direction he looked in each take to mirror it and get it right. That amount of creative coordination is mind-blowing to me, and very few reactors comment on it!
There was a behind the scenes for one of his videos where we see Kathy with a cheat sheet, looking like a traffic controller waving which way he was supposed to look.
That way he has of drawing us into the world of five Geoffs is what Tolkien called 'the willing suspension of disbelief.' We know it's just the one guy, of course, but like every great storyteller, he knows how to entice us, not to forget that, but to temporarily set it aside and play pretend with him for a little while.
I really enjoyed your reaction- thanks! I am looking forward to your "Stand By Me". We are excited that Warframe saw and liked Voice Play's cover of "Sleeping In The Cold Below" and reached out to them to do "Party Of A Lifetime"- looking forward to your reaction to that one too.
A rendition that makes you want to play it really loud and when it is done you are left with a peaceful happy feeling. Geoff arranges, , remembers little things, etc. I also love his readings. What a gifted man. Thanks for your reaction. GO listen to his reading of The Night Before Christmas.
Thanks for this reaction to Geoff's epic Christmas release. I have run out of superlatives! A five octave vocal range is a powerful thing when it sounds as good as Geoff's does. I enjoy the way Geoff arranges music nearly as much as his vocals. Judging by his album art, the Geoffquakes did some damage! They rented this mansion for a few hours for filming using multiple cameras on tripods. Geoff and Kathy were the only ones there for the filming. BTW, Geoff cannot do "too much Lord of the Rings stuff." We always need more! VoicePlay's "Party of a Lifetime" release today was sponsored by Warframe after hearing their cover of "Sleeping in the Cold Below" from their video game. Looking forward to your reaction of "Stand by Me" too.
@@1MannzOpinion LOL...Not really. When you were talking about how epic this is, about 8:09 you said, "...I mean, he's been doing too much LOTR stuff. You can almost feel that same kind of wartime energy behind this..." I see what you did there...LOL. I watch most VoicePlay/Geoff solo reactions so I couldn't remember. I went back and listened to the entire reaction again to be able to exactly tell you what I was responding to! I enjoyed your reaction - both times - and your warmhearted thanks to the guys at the end! Will be watching for more VoicePlay/Geoff. Thanks! Congrats re little one you and your wife are expecting. Hoping for a wonderful 2025 for you all. Merry Christmas!
It's actually four Geoff's and one Daryl (he is on the far right). Daryl can misbehave so he isn't always allowed on set 😂. But this time he promised to behave 😊 Happy Holidays to you and Good Juju to your wife and congrats on the new baby!!!! I state right now that everything will go beautifully and perfectly and all will be well!
To me this has an epic feel to it. With different lyrics it would sound great playing during Game of Thrones or LOTR! Having said that, the Christmas hymn part of it makes me think of Big Bells, not tinkley little jingle bells! His arrangement of this is awesome.
This is Carol of the Bells as you've never heard it before! This one is a mansion that Kathy really wanted to do this here. It's about 1 hr to this place. It is rented out for events but for this day it's Geoff's and Kathy's place. How about Die Hard. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Don't forget to do VoicePlay's Party of a Lifetime (WARFRAME) doing Warframe's 1999 Update. They loved what VoicePlay did with Sleeping in the Cold Below so they got them on board fast.
I pick up and want to thank >you< for a year of nice, funny and comprehensible (for me at least) reactions and opinions to the Voiceplay & Geoff works 2024!🥰 I wish you and your wife a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - 2025 will bring some changes in your both lives 👶😃 Now to the video. I really want to apply officially for a change of the song title. "Carol of the Dragons" should be the name from now on.🤣 Holy...Night. This is a "Christmas Battle Song" every Walmart should play instead of "Last Christmas", when all the people rush in to do their Xmas Shopping🤣 But I like it very much. You are right, maybe it's because of the LotR-songs this year from Geoff or he likes celebrating "Yule" with the other guys of the Shire, ahem, Florida I mean. This version definitely has Middle-Earth vibes. I wish you all the best, and I'm looking forward to the next year full of surprises, bass-lines, bell tones and incredible performances! 👋😃 Marcel from Germany
Nope this is not a set it is indeed a house that is a venue an hour from where they live. It i also apparently a very expensive venue and they had a extremely short time to film the Thunder of the Bells!
This cover is the final proof that human beings could go along with aliens perfectly well. Each one of us loves Geoff, nevertheless, we must admit that this man is not from this world.
The way Geoff arranged this, it sounds like a war anthem (I'm not the only one to make this observation) and how poignant it is to me bearing in mind this is a Ukrainian carol and considering the suffering they are enduring, even at this time of year in their war-ravaged country. He sings it like a powerful WAR song to encourage a flagging army. I don't know if that's what he was thinking in his arrangement and production of this, but it's a perspective that strikes me as especially relevant today...not only for Ukraine but for us all. The juxtaposition of the usual sweet angelic feeling of most Christmas music with his deep, almost ominous bass that instills a feeling of revolution is also a powerful reminder that the Christ of which we sing was himself a revolutionary who shook the religious and political structures of his day with a radical message. LOVE ALL. Not just who you approve of. LOVE ALL. This conveys that radical sense to me in a way that shakes everyone who hears this song, sung this way, to their core! To say I love this does not even begin to say enough.
I understand this is a reaction video, but for heaven sakes, you’re not even five seconds in and you’re already interrupting. Dial it back a little bit. It’s too much already. You’ve already lost me.
I enjoy hearing his thoughts about the video and the setting as well as the song. There are plenty of other reactors to watch if you don’t enjoy this. There’s really no need to leave any mean comments.
@scottrogers7242: Perhaps you should start your own channel instead of trolling all the reactors channels and leaving vague but disrespectful comments everywhere- nobody appreciates it at all.
Geoff's Dragon Choir session of Carol of the Bells.
Epic.
