You guys have it MADE in the US with the availability of used parts. You have it down pat. Up here? they want (most places) almost as much for used as new. For eg: I needed a 5.4L for my F150. I called around and lots of places had "good" used engines. Yeah, for $2500 to $3000. Know what it costs to buy a rebuilt? $3500.00 They are literally out to lunch. Same as finding them. We have a system up here that lists all the recycling yards and you can search using software from the 80's. You see a yard that has a part listed, you call them up "no we don't have that" what? you have 5 listed on the site. Nope. I saw a Cleetus McFarland video where he needed another GM 5.3L. He drove to his local yard, they had a dozen, he found one, they provided an engine trolley/lift, he pulled it out, $200 and he got a new engine. It ran when he hooked it up. Up here? F you, good luck with that...$2500 if you're lucky. I follow a business called Standard Auto Wreckers. They have a parts dept as well as a you pick yard. They have "all you can carry" days. They are better than most, but again, they had a few trucks with the 5.4L listed but "none in stock". Then you get into shipping. They rob you blind up here.
The biggest problem with buying at these places without a dealers license is that the title is assigned to the bidders name and you cant float the title so it makes it almost impossible to work in most title states. These auctions are mostly for retail buyers and overseas buyers.
@@CorySands Leaving the new buyers name blank on the title. Basically the seller just signs their name on the back of the title. Really nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Uncle sam just doesn't get their cut of the tax sale. Dealers like the clown "subliminal" don't really like it because it allows folks without a dealers license to sell title cars without paying a tax on the sale and waiting months for a new assigned title in their name just to resell it.
I concur. Buying from someone who’s name is NOT on the title has too much risk. The actual title holder can claim, they, did not, sell the car (or motorcycle, or boat).

I went to a couple of public auctions up here (cars and other items) people are lunatics at auctions which the auction house loves. They'll pay twice retail simply because they're at an auction. I went to one home building centre auction and they were selling power tools. The auctioneer would hold up a dewalt drill. People started bidding. I'm hoping to buy my first flip car on Monday off Marketplace. Do you typically buy cars with problems (mechanical) and flip them? Wondering what sort of profit you are pulling in. I'm just starting, not expecting a ton of profit but beyond 3 cars a year I'll have to get my dealers licensing anyway (required by state). I might start heading to auctions eventually we'll see how it goes.
In pa, u r only allowed to see 4 vehicles a year if u r not a dealer. And u have to transfer the title when u buy. No open titles are allowed. That means the state wants their tax money. So u incur those costs as well. Not quite so easy to flip cars here.
Can't wait for the website to go live. This is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for. Up to now I've been buy Copart cars that need a little body work and mechanical work and flipping them. In Michigan, we can only buy clean title cars and are limited to 6 sales per year. So I would really like to get a used car dealers license so that I can start going to dealer auctions and getting cars that don't necessarily need a bunch of intense work. I've been doing pretty well so far but I'd really like to get a dealership going as a retirement gig.
Michigan is limited to 4. They call it 5 or more being the cap. Municipal/government cars are a pretty good gig to get into. Find the cars that need repairs for your edge.
I’ve seen cars in this video series sell for $1,000-$1500 profit that needed a lot of work. Why wouldn’t you buy a $3,900 Nissan that’s worth $5,000 or more and doesn’t need anything?
Probably less competition they're easier to get and the parts probably don't cost his shop much when a normal person pays for work at a shop you are paying for labor
When I lived in Boston I bought my 09 Sienna at that same auto auction. Had a great time. Was a bit surreal buying a car with my debit card.
