Chef Nobu is right....I think Shogun is going to be really really great and something special. I grew up with the 80's Shogun and it was good for its time. This new retelling, is going to be magical, and I cannot wait to see it. It looks so authentic and amazing and I am ready to dig in and get lost in it.

It makes me feel good. Knowing that people can get a glimpse, into the different cultures, through food and cinema.
When you see the caliber of the actors brought from Japan and Mr. Sanada as one of the producers, there was never any doubt, before I even saw a second of any clip, that this would be a success!! As much as I loved the 1980's version, for its time, this rendition is on a whole other level!
Yes I've been a big fan since The Last Samurai too so it's amazing seeing these veteran actors lifting their game with Hiroyuki Sanada recently in John Wick 4 and now levelling up to the leading role in FX Shōgun & Producer aswell as Ken Watanabe acting in & producing for Tokyo Vice series 2 also out right now. I hope to see more from Ayumi Tanida and the other Japanese actors in Tokyo Vice.
This show really is amazing as is the dedication to their craft. They were so dedicated in fact that they actually beheaded the heads of the actors while filming. 😅

Read the book in 1975. Saw the mini-series in 1980. I will be watching this one as it drops and have always like Hiroyuki Sanada as an actor.

There are older Japan made samurai movies with him in it but he is young and plays either a ronin or samurai and not a lord.
