Unfortunately there are the silent bullies who work in a way to single you out from the rest of the team they manipulate rest of the team to become their allies some of those allies will even participate with the bully so you don't have anyone in your team to confide or trust these type of bullies don't make it obvious that they are doing this to you, its done gradually overtime bit by bit to break down your confidence, moral & your self worth so its harder to document. These type of bullies should not be allowed in position of power they are brutal & evil they should be sacked under gross misconduct & these bullies will 100% move onto the next victim if they are allowed to get a new job in a position of power else where

I’ve only had one job that handled harassment the right way. As a nice, mild mannered, helpful person I can sometimes be a magnet for mean people. At one job, complaining to HR made it worse because my boss was high on pills half the time & she just confronted me about my complaint. At another, my boss was “fake nice” for about a week & then went back to being her usual, cruel self. It was only when I worked at a bank (and I think they were worried about a lawsuit) that they did the right thing. She was reprimanded & temporarily suspended & I was transferred to a branch where I worked with wonderful, kind hearted people who I really enjoyed working with. Some people are just very unhappy with their personal lives and when they see that you’re a “nice” person they feel like they can walk all over you & treat you like crap. Being mad at your own boss, your husband or your kids doesn’t give you a right to treat your employees like crap. 👍🏻

I always had that type of manager who was like " if one of your colleagues harasses you, just tell me"
Few moments later when i go to complain about a harassment he becomes like
" why the fuck are you complaining? stop being a kid and go along with your colleagues or i'll fire you "

I had one job where if there was a conflict between workers, the employer will just let both employees go, regardless of who started it or who is at fault. Based on my previous experiences, if you are being harassed at the workplace, just keep working until you find more suitable employment. That is what the Unemployment Commission told me.

Do not go to HR, repeat do not go to HR. They only protect the company. I was bullied for years by the head manager and reported it then HR turned on me. Even though this psycho made 20 people quit and I pointed that out, yet because she was a senior manager they didn't touch her, I refused to quit on account of her so I was on stress leave until eventually they made me redundant. Heard she's not working there anymore so I hope that someone after me noticed but there was no way a bully like that was going to kick me out of a job without me putting up a fight. I suggest the same, if you know you are leaving don't let them take your dignity and silence you.

When it comes bullying most companies you don't get any support from higher management or HR . if your direct line manager is the bully and higher management are bullies too then it becomes a nightmare in allot of corporate companies they are making bullying a normal behaviour so they can intimidate and control staff we need a me too movement on this as this problem a getting worse. Corporate companies think they can get away with mistreating their staff & damage there mental health in the process its just brutal behaviour

He curses in anger and makes you feel unworthy but this guy is old school, he's brutally honest and really cares about training me right while others just talk about you and your mistakes behind your back. People aren't always financially able to seek council if the workplace doesn't stop the bullying. Also, the workplace may do a weak investigation, meaning they'll ask the bully if accusations are true, and ask others who refuse to get involved due to retaliation against them. I've dealt with bullying on and off for the past 11 years at my job, and I simply can't do it anymore. I've gone as high up as I possibly can and no one takes it seriously. I am emotionally broken, distraught, under severe distress, I'm sick to my stomach going into work each morning. I'm tired and I just can't do it anymore.

Document document document. I am in the legal phase right now of disability discrimination, retaliation. Depending on what state you are in, you basically have to decide to either let it be, or prepare for retaliation if you choose to report to HR. Again depending on your state, you also have to be very blatant regarding reporting to HR. In my state, they have to be given the opportunity to resolve the problem

I’ve had a few nasty bosses & those jobs were hell. Try to write down as much as you can about every time your boss treated you or a coworker badly (especially if they use curse words or insults or make jokes). It’s that or finding another job. Good luck to you. 👍🏻

Workplace bullying effects customers and clients too. People who bully in the workplace also tend to bully customers and clients sometimes, too. My workplace bully tried to have a customer arrested because she was rude to him for no good reason, qnd he politely said, "Ma'am, you don't need to be condescending ". Shebthen threatened him with the police, and had thrown the poor guy out. Why there aren't any laws against abusive staff, is terrible. There's no excuse.

Hi Tamera. In Canada, an employer has a legal obligation to provide a safe workplace to employees, and must take all appropriate actions to ensure that bullying or harassment doesn't occur, or is stopped when it is brought to the employer's attention.
If an employee has asked their employer to do something about workplace bullying, but the employer is proven to not be reacting appropriately, the employee may be able to claim that their job has effectively been terminated, and they can leave/resign with severance pay.
If you work in Ontario, Alberta or BC, and are in this situation, you should call our team at 1-855-821-5900 BEFORE you resign so that we can review the issue and determine best options.

This happened to me here in Colorado Springs. The teacher got others to join in, and I was singled out. When I brought to the attention of the administration, I was told I had a problem following the teachers lead. She is verbally abusing the students, I will not follow her lead. The teacher sent out a group text with me included. My phone number was given out to people I don’t know in a group text. Comments were made about me in my presence as well as behind my back. Her social skills lessons were targeting me. For example, I reported her. The next day she taught about tattling, and minding your own business. Everything I told the administration that was going on, they had an excuse for.

Would be helpful to know differences between marginalization as a type of harassment i.e. marginalization in terms of having work removed from your portfolio and your role being reduced. Also, any options in terms of employees’ Right to keep working at work and have the bully / harasser (boss in my situation) be the one in that has to leave. If I leave even with severance I lose out on my pension and I will not recover financially what I lose. This does not seem fair

I’m in this situation right now, I’ve been with this company going on 15 yrs. They hired one who has a victim mentality, and thinks or actually does what she wants. Doesn’t follow dress code always late etc. not to mention very manipulative. I have gone to my boss numerous times we’ve even had a meeting. The bully had nothing to say nor did she have an excuse for her behaviour towards me. Needless to say my boss is now defending the toxic coworker. And seem to think it’s me with the problem. I did turn in my letter of resignation, they gave me the option to work from home. When it came down to it they tried to make me feel guilty. And things that they’ve had me do in the past, are now unprofessional? I also asked about dress code, well her response… I haven’t been implementing it. It would’ve been for for her to tell all us.
