Jim, this is so beautiful! I have a couple hints. Try pouring a thin layer of clear Designer Epoxy in your bucket. Let it ALMOST set up and then put your pieces in and let it finish curing. To fill the centers tape a piece of rubber tubing (just smaller than the hole) to the end of your syringe. Slowly push the epoxy in as you retract the tube. It may save you time and aggravation. Thanks for sharing your artistic talents 😊
Jim, what a creative idea. I didn't think that stuff was worth turning at all as it's a HUGE weed in my area. Glad to see you can make it into something beautiful especially with some Designer Epoxy and your creativity.
I love the patterns created when you turned this combination of wood and resin, Jim. Once again your excellent choice of form really shows off the grain of the wood. I’d like to see a piece using the filled centers process turned with a reverse curve - wider at the top and bottom and narrower in the middle. I think this would show off more of the colored resin in the centers.
I can't wait to see the new house!! I also love the new look this week, and it's wonderful that you don't limit yourself as an artist. I am also an artist and photographer, I was always taught to let your piece tell you what it wants to be. That's another reason why I love watching you.
I love how you don't know what you are going to do with a piece until you start turning it. You let the piece "speak" to you. I think that is why all your pieces are so incredible. And designer Epoxy is amazing to work with...I love all the colors.
At first I didn't think I would like the black but as it turned I started changing my mind. The Egyptian shape is really jumps for me. Nice piece and without Designer Epoxy this would not be possible.
Once again, Jim, you snatched victory from the jaws of defeat! Perseverance paid off with you and a lucky buyer ending up with an intriguing and beautiful piece. Bravo! (insert applause here) I once owned a house with sumac on the property here in Utah. It was a pain to deal with! Beautiful in the fall, but I hated the little sprouts that popped up all over the yard. It was a constant battle to keep it under control. At least you can make some really cool stuff with it!
Another amazing piece Jim. Perfect choice for colors in the resin. Really like the colors and grain patterns of the sumac. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Hey Jim Ian from Liverpool here, again just another fantastic piece. the contrast between the black and the red is really quite spectacular 👌 Keep them coming it's the highlight of my week switching on and seeing what you create. All the best 👍
Mr.jim you get an A for awesome. This one is beautiful. Probably the prettiest one I have seen you turn. Sometimes a hick up turns in some thing amazing
Another very cool piece. As always, using the darker colors always resonates with me. So far as a larger workshop, more room = more toys to work with!!! Can't wait to see the new shop this fall.
Greetings from New Hampshire! I have been at home all week recovering from a bout of Covid and have found that rewatching your videos to be the best medicine of all. 😀 I truly enjoy your amazing skill and artistic expression.
This is an amazing footed vase, It looks like it has a painted design on it! If I would see it in a shop I would be looking up close to make sure it is real!! So beautiful! It is a beautiful and amazing vase! Beautiful!! Designer Epoxy
Missed the premier this week. Very nice vase! Love the branches and the inlays. The colors are great as well. Hope you had a great weekend. Designer Epoxy
OOP! This comment was before the light inside! It may have made it closer to the top 5. Jim, this is a gorgeous piece of art! Maybe not my top pick, but it does rate to be in the top 10. I will have to go back and review some of your previous pieces and maybe change my mind. I especially like the double drilled pieces. Very cool look 😃
i love the holes not all being on center it adds to the uniqueness of the piece, when things are perfect they don't feel handmade in my opinion. i think you nailed it when you called it simply elegant. see you next week!
Another stunning piece. When you showed the inside at the end, you could see two red eyes. That's awesome. It has some purple colors in the black. The black light really highlights the red. 💜
Designer Epoxy. The sumac has such a beautiful golden look against the black pearl. This is a wonderful piece of art. Love the shape that spoke to you.
This is so beautiful AGAIN! The wood, the form, the colors. You have such a good taste. Always unbelievable. I’m glad you get your workshop built in fall. You have your priorities straight -lol- no house, but your workshop. I like to see how your workshop is getting built.
Love it Jim. Finally remembered and got here at the start. I wondered why you didn't drill from both ends but that would be the one where you have the long strip of epoxy not lining up in the center. Don't envy you packing up that house and shop at all.
I've just seen the video. I spent most of the morning at the optometrist and next spring I'll be having cataract surgery. It is a lovely piece. Congratulations on turning weeds into an elegant piece of art.
Just an FYI red sumac real name is Staghorn. The red berries from Stanhorn is a great spice when ground. I imagine the berry corns could be used in canning and ferments also. But my favorite way to use it is as a cold tea. Its called lemon berry tea. You can add a bit of honey or maple syrup. Give it a try. Peace, Love and Freedom 🇺🇲
A very beautiful piece of art. The Designer Epoxy colors go great with the Sumac and make it look like a showcase piece for a display case. Looking forward to seeing the new shop.
😮😮😮 I can't even explain why I love this piece so much, but I do! The shape, the design, the pigments from Designer Epoxy... all of it is absolutely perfect! I'd love to see another one like this with different coloured pigments!
Very, very cool, I was watching this video, while watching Golden State Warriors take it to our Utah Jazz, it helped stay calm!!! Thanks again Jim, for sharing your impressive talent, Guy
Lovely piece again. My husband is totally with you on needing a larger/bigger workshop, he is fair drooling over the idea. I hope that Mrs Sprague is getting something extra special for her as well, maybe in the house.
This piece has a retro, lava lamp, Rorschach print, trippy kind of feel to it, I can't quite put my finger on it! I really love the foot on this with all of the different shapes of the sumac, and the lip at the top with the dripping blobs and circles. Maybe it's the colour scheme giving off this different vibe to pieces you've made before with this similar branch technique, I'm also getting wormhole, time travel, matter-being-compacted-through-temporal-space, just super warped cool vibes! Thanks Jim, this was a super fun watch!

Thanks for the tips.
Love how rich the grain of the sumac shows up in contrast to the dark resin. The touch of highlights in the resin also adds character. Beautiful!
Thank you very much!

Agreed, thanks!
Jim, you amaze me how you can take what some people would consider fire wood and turn it into a piece of beauty. Awesome.
Всё очень просто . Берёшь руками. И делаешь. А думать о том что не получится. Тогда не получится некогда. Нужно просто не бояться.
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
Very nice, like the contrast between the black resin and the wood
Thank you very much!
Gorgeous piece Jim. The sumac and black epoxy really do work well together. Simply stunning. Congratulations on the sale.

Watching you fill the centers in reminded me of Whack a Mole. Beautiful work!! Designer Epoxy
It felt that way too, lol. Thanks
Love the red accents!
Some of the shapes remind me of the film of a cell splitting. 😊 Cool organic shapes!

definitely a Halloween vibe with the black light. The green glow makes it look more like bones than the yellow.
I see it too. Thanks
That Designer Epoxy black pearl almost looked like a hypershift in places. Yet another beautiful piece.
That pearl is amazing stuff too, thanks
Coring out the sumac was such a good idea! The red does an amazing job contrasting with the sumac wood
Thank you very much!

Designer epoxy is amazing. Can't wait for next week's cherry piece!
Thank you very much!
When you have things like the two drill holes in a piece, we call that “design elements”! lol it’s neat because they’re sporadic. Another winner!
Agreed, lol. Thanks
Jim, I find it amazing how grungy pieces of wood can become beautiful works of art under your talented hands!! This vase is gorgeous!!❤👍

Ha ha! It’s all about the bigger shop! Ha ha!
It seems things never go to plan, and yet every week you turn out another cool, unique piece!
Thanks so much!
It reminds me of a crown. The red looks like rubies set in the gold of the wood, surrounded by onyx! I LOVE IT!
Thank you so much!
This has so many levels of interest. I love the elongated growth rings of the Sumac. It has a southwest vibe also. Beautiful piece.
