Nintendo: "What could we possibly do with a new F-Zero?" F-Zero: *Has never had online multiplayer and has a great track editor that's locked to the N64DD*
I don't even need a shitty online multiplayer from Nintendo for my F-Zero. I mean just look at how SSBU plays online. Can you imagine a game like F-Zero at breakneck speed where every millisecond counts to run smoothly with Nintendo's online infrastructure? I sure can't, even if they were to cut down the number of racers on a track. XD The franchise didn't even have a chance to grow stale, it doesn't need any shoehorned innovation from Miyamoto. Just release a sequel to GX with the same formula and add more of the stuff that already worked. More machines and pilots, more custom parts, etc. People born when the last main line title released are pretty much adults by now, come on, get your shit together Nintendo! -.-
I find myself having a hard time getting too optimistic when it comes to Nintendo releasing new installments to their smaller IPs. They seem to be going the route of milking their safest IPs more and more lately with only the very occasional risky venture. But I'd love to be genuinely surprised and see the likes of F-Zero, Mother, Pikmin, Star Fox, and Chibi Robo again.
@Fluffynator yeah but Super Mario Bros. and Kirby have almost always been reliable when it comes to sale figures. They may not necessarily make the most money when compared to Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and Animal Crossing, but they still make enough profit each release for Nintendo to justify their continual support
I think going full steam ahead and making new games on those is the wrong move. THIS is why we need, and more importantly THEY need a Virtual console. Say if they put out the pikmin games for purchase, then they see the figures for the sales they know what to prioritise and work on. Whereas what does the Switch online service tell them? he figures probably tell them that most people load up each game for a minute or so, quit out because they're woefully outdated, then they play Mario Bros
A new mother installment will never happen. Shigesato Itoi (creator of mother) has publicy said a new mother game will never happen. Best bet is virtual console or a remake.
As someone who's only played swish and the mystery dungeon demo; yes, this seems like a great idea, give the new fans a chance to experience the legacy

Nintendo should be using Smash as a marketing/hype machine. Add characters from Golden Sun/FZero/Advanced Wars --> Announce new installment. It worked for Fire Emblem
The Smash Ultimate e3 reveal trailer was my first ever experience of interacting with Nintendo in general. I was very depressed at that point of time until I saw these unknown characters to me (except Mario and Pokemon) and i was intrigued. So much so it made me interested in getting a switch just for Smash because i was caught in the hype until release. And now, the switch made me a Zelda and Fire Emblem fan and I've never been more happier.
They already do, they just don't want to make a new installment for those games, although if they do you can bet their will be a smash tie-in somewhere.
How about Mario And Luigi and Mario Vs Donkey Kong? I know that Paper Mario and Mario Sports was back, but can you bring back Mario And Luigi and Mario Vs Donkey Kong please?
The gamecube was my darling. I grew up with it, and I felt like I lost a part of my soul when I had to throw my original one that I bought on launch day out. I would 100% sell my gamecube and rebuy my entire game library if they released everything on switch. Handheld mode is that big of a game changer for me.
I think it's more the total detachment of the developers from what appeals to people about the series. Call it "reverse Breath of the Wild", instead of going back to the series' roots they keep running towards a non-existent "younger audience".
@@PlatinumAltaria I know some adults that haven't touched a Pokemon game, much less held a Nintendo game deep in their hearts, that genuinely enjoys a completely casual gameplay of the game.
@@PlatinumAltaria Younger audiences should be able to enjoy pokemon games that aren't super kiddie or super easy but gf and tpc don't think about that. @@Kobolds_in_a_trenchcoat There are actually alternate control schemes in uprising that don't require the touch screen at all, and while they take some getting used to they aren't bad at all imo. It still feels kind of clunky but I chalk that up to a lack of fine-tuning, so if the devs turn their attention towards the issue for a switch release it will probably end up solved (gyro aiming?).
Got emotional when you showed footage of Wario Land 4. It's literally my favourite game of all time. If you reading this haven't had the sheer pleasure of playing it, please do! It's 12 freaking years since Wario Land Shake Dimension came out, and I'm still waiting for a new installment lol

@@Dan_Brandybuck Well, saying "Foolish fool" brings Franziska von Karma to mind, and while it's a bit silly to treat the character and people saying things the character said as the same individual, she does have issues.
Nintendo would make tons of money if they look into remaking Wario’s Greatest achievement Wario Land 4. Or making a the Ultimate Classic System of the Virtual Boy. Do you think they will remember Wario Land? If they do then that would be Incredible Incredible.
everyone thinks "the switch is half way through its life..." I think this system could easily go 10 years even if the hardware gets dated. The second Switch will probably be more of a mid cycle refresh.
Yeah, nah. Nintendo will be killing themselves if they don’t release a successor to the Switch by 2024 at the latest. 7 years lasted the PS4/XB1 and even then, both consoles haven’t aged completely gracefully. Hence, the PS4 Pro and the One X. The Switch is already barebones, underpowered, and barely capable of running AAA 3rd party ports.
I think ten years would be tricky without releasing a newer more powerful model, like by 2027 we could be seeing PS6 and Xbox whatever stupid name they give the next one, the switch will be more outdated by then than the Wii was in the early 2010s. I think the switch could easily keep on going for another five years though, just look at the 3DS that went from 2011-2019. The switch is definitely going to outsell the 3DS and it's portability gives it a longer lifespan, I think 8 years is a reasonable time frame to expect for the switch, with its last games coming out in 2025, maybe one straggler in 2026
It's honestly absurd that no Wario title ever features Waluigi, you'd think they'd go to him first but instead they make up a dozen other characters just to use for Warioware
Now hear me out: Stealth action game for Waluigi. You know, because he is a mere mortal within a cast of starborn, super powered people and has to make up for it by being sneaky and full of tricks
I'd love to see them give some of these less popular IPs a real try. I've often looked a the Smash Bros rosters and imagined "What if every franchise represented here was executed to the level of a Mario or Zelda?" There's so much untapped potential. It's really a self-perpetuating cycle when Nintendo sees certain IPs as less valuable, invests less in them, makes less impressive games than the ones they make for their flagship series, sees that they sell less, then use that as evidence that the IP itself lacks value and potential.
10:09 can we get an f in the chat for the poor editor? He has to listen to Arlo ramble about and hype up masterpiece games for a console that their not on.
Reid Martin?? What’s wrong with the editor (Kane) inputting little nods to himself? Given he spends hours upon hours editing these videos he’s almost as much of a contributor to these videos as Arlo. I think he deserves to be recognized every so often and toss in little fun nods to himself
I’ve made this argument before but a factor that isn’t being considered is bandwidth. They only have so many developers, and so much time. They need to deliver 2-3 big hits a year in order to ensure that their console’s install base grows at a good rate (unlike the Wii U). They could counteract that problem by purchasing more developers/create new teams within their developers/or collaborate with a 3rd party. Untested relationships are a risk and could end in the failed development of a game (metroid prime 4’s start for example). So they have to get their console to a healthy level with the production of dependable sellers. Only now can they make that gamble of producing neglected IP which means that development for these games won’t be complete until the end of their current generation’s life cycle. That also puts those games on a dying console like the case of Metroid: Samus Returns. So maybe we’ll get those titles when we start hearing about Switch 2. Which is disappointing but it’s a function of an industry that need 3-4 years to deliver a product and life cycles of consoles are typically 5-8 years.
I feel like Nintendo needs to port over all the old Zelda titles. I've never played Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, or a plethora of other titles I think I would enjoy because they're all on dead consoles I don't own. And believe me, I've tried to get them. This goes for other game series as well. Really, this whole video just sums up my thoughts exactly.
I mean for Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask you could just get a used 2DS, or better yet a 3DS for the 3D effect. The touchscreen menus are such an enhancement that in my opinion even an HD port wouldn't be as good as the 3DS versions, maybe except if it's done as a complete remake or reimagining.
It hurts seeing Wario in general being a dead franchise. I grew up with Wario Land, and Wario Ware was great as well (for the most part) If Nintendo abandoned the Wario games because Game and Wario and Wario Ware Gold flopped I wouldn’t know what to say. Those games didn’t flop because of the franchise but because of what they were and what systems they were on.
6:59 "Even in the case of extremely old properties with no recent releases" I mean, look at what happened with Fossil Fighters and the Jaidenanimations video back in January. The interest in FF skyrocketed.
I've said it somewhere else: I really think they should just "give the Paper Mario Franchise" to a different character if they really want to make something different out of it. I keep suggesting making it a Captain Toad spin-off. Maybe it will result in an exciting new franchise. It feels like keeping the "Paper Mario" name has become some kind of misguided crutch at this point...
Arlo, I want to just say that I really enjoy these videos. I can't begin to say how nice it is to wake up in the morning and see one of your videos on my homepage. It really does make the days in lockdown better. Thanks so much, Arlo & Kane
Nintendo needs some more variety. The franchises placed on the priority have been the same 3, Mario , Zelda and Pokemon, maybe throw in smash bros in there. But Nintendo has great potential to attract new types of fans, like racing game fans, the only known racing game on Nintendo in general is mario kart, Nintendo could attract new fans and attention when they see the famous Captain Falcon outside of smash bros, it definitely applies to other genres/franchises
F-Zero historically isn't a well selling game. While Arlo is making the thesis that we need to pump out as MANY IPs as possible, because the install base is that high. Nintendo doesn't like to take risks.
Aaron Wishard “F-Zero Historically isn’t a high-selling game.” I think the sentence you’re looking for is “Nintendo historically hasn’t given F-Zero much in regards to both quality and quantity of advertisements. Nor has most of the releases besides the first one ever made any sense.”

Arlo, I love this video, and please make a vid on Kid Icarus: Uprising! Like legit, I has so many ideas and concepts for Nintendo for a new Kid Icarus game. Characters, Gods, Enemies, Locations, Bosses, Weapons, Mechanics, Controls, etc.
@@maximini4923 It could work. I feel they should still keep chapters, and more linear design for SOME sections. Like shrines in Botw, turned into parts of levels, while also keeping more interesting level design. A hub world where you could be warped to a place to fly down to, and have certain levels unlocked as you progress, and events that you could prevent. Basically, land battles stay the same whilst air battles are more open world and you choose the city or place in trouble and fly there on your own. You would be fighting enemies, and perhaps jumping on clouds and looking for treasure chests. I mean, imagine a enemy pretending to be a cloud and would ambush Pit if he lands on him. Keep the funny writing, and good story, and everything great about Uprising, expand on it, and put in on Switch.

I want Nintendo to revive Toon Zelda games after Breath of the Wild 2. In 2003, Nintendo made The Wind Waker. They saw it as a creative twist on Zelda, but many saw it as ridiculous. Thus, while many people who actually played the game enjoyed it, it's sales were lacking. The gamecube's lower sales didn't help. In 2007 and 2009, we had the continuation of Toon Zelda with Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I personally loved them. They were my introduction to Zelda. Once again, many people hate them. Unlike other games, like Majora's Mask, which eventually took its rightful place as a fantastic game, the DS games are often forgotten. People talk about remaking the Oracle games, Minish Cap, and Skyward Sword, but the DS games are forgotten. Only I and a scarce few seem to care... Wind Waker was remade in 2013... but on the Wii U. If that game were released on the Switch, it would finally get the exposure it deserves. But Nintendo has not ported the remake. Toon Link's last appearance in his own game can scarcely be called Toon Zelda - Triforce heroes. Gone was the artstyle, and what was originally charming cartooniness was made too ridiculous in my opinion. I'm sure it has its fans, but I really think that Toon Link deserves more. And that game, I fear, is his final resting place. Many claim that Breath of the Wild is toon Zelda, but it lacks the cartoon charm, and Toon Link's expressiveness, both in animation, and dialogue options. And so, I watch, as I main Toon Link in Smash, and people tell me he should be removed to make way for more interesting characters. I'm berated because "we already have enough Zelda." And Nintendo seems to have forgotten him too. I dream of a day, where out of nowhere, Toon Link will appear again, in the 3D sequel he truly deserves. I dream of it taking place at the discovery of New Hyrule, with Tetra as a playable character. But I'm not holding my breath. My favorite character in gaming is dead. And no one mentions him. Because, after all, he's just another copy of Link in Smash, and nothing more... 😥
I mean botw is already hard on the toon style with heavy cel shading and such, it isn't apart of the toon legacy perse, but it is heavily stylized. I wouldnt mind having more games in the style of breath of the wild, it looks beautiful, but I get why you'd want more toon games
Dark Dawn suffered mostly form the time it was released on the DS honestly. Should have just switched the devevelopment to the 3DS at that point, its graphics are good enough for it.
YES! Thank you for bringing up Golden Sun. Now would be a perfect time to re-release the series onto the switch. I'm holding out for it in the next year or so.
That would actually be kinda cool. Yes, a remaster, but there were many tiny parts that have great potential in gameplay, more content or even more story (unlikely, because Sakurai doesn't like story-heavy games)
@LiamPlaysGamez Kid Icarus is an unforgiving nightmare. While I understand the game gets easier as you get further along, I've never been able to get out of the Underworld
A sequel is definitely needed. A title involving demigods would be great. Not to mention Magnus discovering his demigod powers and rescue his child from the underworld alongside Gaol would be great. Not to mention Ares as an antihero who guides Dark Pit in the dark story mode.
You reminded me to Golden Sun and now I feel really really bad because I love the series but I had never been able to buy a single copy of the trilogy, I want to at least buy a simple port on the Switch, I don't know how many people feel the same, loving a franchise but not being able to support it.
nintendo is obsessed with the idea to do things differently than everyone else and also than they did before. but it was never their only and not even their biggest strength. their biggest success factor nowadays is that they care. they care about games. they care about gameplay. they do not make interactive films, they dont make games that make you say "woah this would be an amazing movie". so in my opinion, they need to get rid of that miyamoto type philosophy that you only should make a new game in a series, if you can revolutionize said series. thats not what players want. players always want a mix of familiar fundamentals and then new features or sometimes even just a new story to play through. add one or two aspects, dont reinvent the wheel.
Yes, 100% agree with that mindset. You don't want to make a new game on a series and have it be so different from the other ones that it's almost not even the same series, but you also want to add some new things just so it's actually a new game. In other words, "everything balanced, as it should be..."
Miyamoto’s philosophy was very effective in the early stages of console gaming and game evolution but I agree with you that it doesn’t really work as well today now that games and game genres have been really defined. Every so often, because of this philosophy though, we get a masterpiece like botw, or Mario Odyssey.
Watching this made me realize just how PERFECT a Punch-Out game for Switch would be. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that it would be similar to Arms...but come on now. It seems like it's practically made for it! If nothing else, Little Mac being a character in the inevitable Arms 2 game would be a really neat shout-out.
I don't even need a brand new Punch-Out game. Give us a port of the Wii version with Doc Louis's Punch-Out already bundled in (and maybe a small expansion with some other fighters from the game's history as a not-sequel) and I'd be perfectly content. Punch-out was legitimately my means of a workout with the Wii and I would LOVE to have it on the Switch.
@@RiceBoy1996 Completely agree. Heck, I wouldn't mind a whole new Wario LAND revival, too! Not as perfect controller-wise as WarioWare would be, but still.

Nintendo: "What could we possibly do with a new F-Zero?"
F-Zero: *Has never had online multiplayer and has a great track editor that's locked to the N64DD*
Perfectly said. Literally word for word what I was about to say.
Nintendo: "What could we possibly do with a new F-Zero?"
Nintendo: *Releases a shitty knockoff of SMB1 & several shitty knockoffs of that.*
*continues to release Mario Kart sequels changing little to each version and adding gimmicks*
XD
The franchise didn't even have a chance to grow stale, it doesn't need any shoehorned innovation from Miyamoto. Just release a sequel to GX with the same formula and add more of the stuff that already worked. More machines and pilots, more custom parts, etc. People born when the last main line title released are pretty much adults by now, come on, get your shit together Nintendo! -.-
The track editor is also in climax, the gba, only in japan and last game. I downloaded a rom and the editor is amazing!
"Late-stage capitalism" isn't a term I ever expected to hear Arlo say.

It was a misplaced quip that didnt make sense given I just watched Arlo do a Raycon ad to make money.

Christian Johnson LoL couldn’t be more wrong kid
I thought Chibi Robo was a SEGA IP/Franchise...
EDIT: Oops, well apparently it isn't!
Honestly a really good thing they could do that will make everyone happy is

Nintendo should be using Smash as a marketing/hype machine. Add characters from Golden Sun/FZero/Advanced Wars --> Announce new installment.
It worked for Fire Emblem
Right Smash Ultimate and the marketing made me want to play Three Houses.

I think it's more the total detachment of the developers from what appeals to people about the series. Call it "reverse Breath of the Wild", instead of going back to the series' roots they keep running towards a non-existent "younger audience".

@@Kobolds_in_a_trenchcoat There are actually alternate control schemes in uprising that don't require the touch screen at all, and while they take some getting used to they aren't bad at all imo. 10 years is hard dude. I would say 4-6 but who knows,it maybe will. Do you think that switch will hit 100 million sales?
@@leadster2256 Ummm, dude, the 3DS lived way longer than it honestly should have. Why couldn't they pull a similar feat with the Switch?.

Captain Falcon is a well known meme at this point, so I’m sure a new F-Zero would sell just because he’s in it.
FALCON
PUNCH!
Windwaker and Ocarina Of Time are awesome I hope they port them so you can experience them
majoras mask is one of the best game of all time
Oot, MM, and Wind Waker would be a welcomed addition for me!
Especially OoT remaster on switch without the terrible 3d fuzz.
Port over or do you mean offer on a switch online app. I don't want to pay full price for all these old games lol

Aaron Wishard “F-Zero Historically isn’t a high-selling game.”

GAMEBomb123 He doesn't have to make it. And he said he doesn't want to port or make a sequel to Kid Icarus. But we know he likes to change his mind...
Come on this game is good mostly because it's linear. An open world would ruin the flow of such an action game.

Four Swords Voyage for Nintendo Switch
(3D Four Swords)
I know. It's hideous.
I mean botw is already hard on the toon style with heavy cel shading and such, it isn't apart of the toon legacy perse, but it is heavily stylized. I wouldnt mind having more games in the style of breath of the wild, it looks beautiful, but I get why you'd want more toon games
Maybe they could stick as 2d Zelda? Like link's awakening, but actually in the toon style, rather than toys
Zelda should go for Elder Scrolls look. Lots of blood, dragons. Go GoT style on it too! That would certainly get attention
@@FriskyD. Yes, but we never got a second 3D Toon Zelda. I'm not asking for something massive, just a mid tier game.
Arlo: Those Chibi Robo fans deserve another chance!
Scott the Woz would like to know your location.
Even though he hates the game, Scott did say in his Let's make a Smash Bros game that Chibi-Robo deserves another chance
@@al.109 no he really loved the gamecube title he said but he hated the 3ds title chibi robo zip lash

Raycon: Allow me to introduce myself
Real talk, whenever people show screencaps of Icarus oprising I get a little giddy, one on my absolute favorite games
4:05 perfect timing for the audio and the visuals
His editor is really good, eh?
I just want a new Kid Icarus :(
I would even take a remaster of Uprising.
100% yes! im always wanted to play uprising but i dont have 3ds
That would actually be kinda cool. Yes, a remaster, but there were many tiny parts that have great potential in gameplay, more content or even more story (unlikely, because Sakurai doesn't like story-heavy games)
@@Jetzer12 it's one of my favourite games of all time and the characters in the game are great
@LiamPlaysGamez Kid Icarus is an unforgiving nightmare.
"Gonna mow the lawn!" Hahaha this bit has just been freshened back up for me
You reminded me to Golden Sun and now I feel really really bad because I love the series but I had never been able to buy a single copy of the trilogy, I want to at least buy a simple port on the Switch, I don't know how many people feel the same, loving a franchise but not being able to support it.
How can you love a series you’ve never played? You don’t even know it’s general quality or feel...
JacobyObi he said he never bought not that he never played; I’m assuming he played with Roms and emulators on pc.
nintendo is obsessed with the idea to do things differently than everyone else and also than they did before. but it was never their only and not even their biggest strength. their biggest success factor nowadays is that they care. they care about games. they care about gameplay. they do not make interactive films, they dont make games that make you say "woah this would be an amazing movie". so in my opinion, they need to get rid of that miyamoto type philosophy that you only should make a new game in a series, if you can revolutionize said series. thats not what players want. players always want a mix of familiar fundamentals and then new features or sometimes even just a new story to play through. add one or two aspects, dont reinvent the wheel.
Yes, 100% agree with that mindset. You don't want to make a new game on a series and have it be so different from the other ones that it's almost not even the same series, but you also want to add some new things just so it's actually a new game. In other words, "everything balanced, as it should be..."
That mindset is the reason why F-Zero is in its current state
Miyamoto’s philosophy was very effective in the early stages of console gaming and game evolution but I agree with you that it doesn’t really work as well today now that games and game genres have been really defined. Every so often, because of this philosophy though, we get a masterpiece like botw, or Mario Odyssey.
@@methane_melvin They should take that philosophy and use it for completely new games not within a series.
When will Arlo release a video covering Late-Stage Capitalism called "The Proletariats Are Sitting on a Golden Opportunity" ?
After he shows us his SRA membership card
@@CirkuitBreaker What is SRA?
Same goes to a new WarioWare Game. It's match made in heaven.
@@RiceBoy1996 Completely agree. Heck, I wouldn't mind a whole new Wario LAND revival, too! Not as perfect controller-wise as WarioWare would be, but still.
@@CouchSpud91 As someone who never managed to snag a copy of the Wii version, I'd be SO down for this! Throwing in some extra content - unlockable costumes, new arenas, etc. - and packing it together could be a big hit! ...pun not intended
That "Angrily explaining to a friend with a mouth half-full of sandwich" analogy was just...superb....
We really need a Wario Land 5 . . . Wario Land 4 is so incredibly underrated
Still one of my fav games of all time and the soundtrack is amazing
Wario Land Shake It already exists.
But yes, the series should come back.
Wario Land Shake It and Wario World are underrated as well. Really the whole series is.
I’m playing Wario land 3 rn and as much as it makes me feel like a dumb player cause of the different expectation of players then vs now, I’m having fun figuring things out and seeing Wario in an actual game
I mean technically it would be Wario Land 6 but yeah
