I think Saints is the _most_ important tune to learn for improvising. It's relatively simple yet easy to screw up because a lot of people (even Jazz musicians) overlook it. If you go to New Orleans or play in any trad jazz group, this tune is a staple.

My sister is in highschool band and her instructor gave him a trombone to keep, he practices but has no instruction. These videos are a god sent! He is 11 and cannot reach all of the positions but he will never get better without help!
