“This is a little bit of alright”. Love it. Nothing like experiencing a big storm protected only by a thin piece of nylon. Surprising how comfortable one can be. What a beautiful place. Thanks for taking us along.

I am so glad I discovered your channel just a short while ago. Your style of videography is excellent! And this was a lovely campsite. It was cool to see the huge ships in the distance. The photos you were able to take after the thunderstorm passed by that evening were gorgeous! Thank you for sharing the photos and this mini-adventure with us all.👍💖
Some of my favorite camping trips have been when the weather moves in and I get to sit under a blanket and enjoy the chilly, rain and thunder and lightning. You are amazing!
Hi Wendy, it was a 10 for sure and so glad to have joined you. Your pictures were amazing, and the sound of the water on shore was soothing. Did the rain smell good? Remind me of your signature coffee and your brand of your pants pls. Will watch this several times 😊❤
thanks Mary- my coffee is decaff ground in a "tea bag" followed by a package of latte or cappuccino mix. Delicious, easy and no mess. The pants i wear are made by Fjallraven, a Danish Co.
Oh wow Wendy, you dazzled again with this adventure, the sights, the sounds, the out and out joy! There's something so surreal about the light after a storm, your photography caught it all, thank you so much for the extra work involved with producing these videos. As you said, "it's a little bit of all right". Love it.
Wendy you are a 'ten out of ten' ... always calm and just go with the flow. Such a wonderful positive attitude, thanks for taking me along to another slice of paradise ... cheers from Perth Australia
I've never camped out during a thunderstorm before although many a time it rained where I camped on the Olympic Peninsula. Your cozy tarp-covered area was a good idea so you could still enjoy the outdoors under shelter rather than spend the whole time in your tent. Once when I put up a tarp over my tent I went on an hour hike and when I returned the tarp was full of rainwater. So I had to lift my Northface tent and carry over to a dryer, higher area and then I redid my tarp. I was inexperienced with it and cut my finger on my pocketknife! Oh well. Still, it's lovely hearing the raindrops pattering on the tent and the tree frogs peeping in the night. Meanwhile your little campsite with its thunderstorm, owl, and woodpecker provided a nature soundtrack while you made dinner, and read your book, and took in the scenery. Thanks again for bringing us along on another adventure! Jenny USA ⛈🦉🪶🏕
Sweet!! A friend took me over there on a day trip several years ago and I loved it. Always wanted to come back and camp there. The hiking is lovely. Watch for the albino racoons that live on the island. Thanks!
How refreshing to see someone of a 'mature' age enjoying the great outdoors. And what a dramatic couple of days you enjoyed. Really enjoyable to watch, thanks Wendy - keep on rambling lady 👍💚

I was camping on a whitewater rafting trip on the Deschutes River a few years ago with my BF, his dad and brother. We were relaxing in the tent, me reading a book and BF napping, when I glanced over my shoulder out the tent window to see a big black cloud looming across the river. It rolled over top of us, stopped and unleashed thunder, lightning and torrential rains for about 20 minutes. We were eyeballing the concrete vault toilet as a shelter if we started getting lightning in camp. The river turned to chocolate milk and the bottom of our tent did get wet until the water soaked into the ground. Most frightening 20 minutes I've ever experienced out in nature.
Wendy first time seeing your video. You have chosen a wonderful spot to go camping. I loved it was so beautiful giving you such a feeling of peace of mind . The scenery was breathtaking beautiful. I was surprised there was no one else there. Thank for sharing I enjoyed coming along, I love the sound of the rain so relaxing.

Wendy , you inspire me ! I am only two weeks away from my 76 birthday , but I am going to seriously think about a solo camping adventure in our Ontario Muskoka’s for next Spring or Summer ! Mary of Dundas , Ontario 🇨🇦
You are truly an inspiration to all who seek solo camping and thunderstorms 😊 I'm so glad I found your channel! Each morning I watch one to give me courage for the day. I'm starting a similar adventure this Friday of living in my 2dr jeep in Northern Alberta. I was apprehensive at first about being cold but if you can be brave enough to solo camp in a floorless tent, I'll be glamping in my jeep...lol keep the videos coming but most importantly keep doing you!
thank you very much .I imagine camping in your jeep in northern Alberta is going to much colder that it ever is here for me. Please take lots of precautions. I hope it goes well for you. 🥶🤗
This is great Wendy. What an incredibly simple local adventure. Newcastle Island is a gem. Thanks for sharing your experience. We always learn a few tricks. 💯
Any chance you're writing a book on your life story because I would buy that in a heartbeat 😂 love this channel! You really helped me find my footing in my own solo camp journey.
thank you very much Ken- No, I haven't thought about a book. I am really happy it has helped you along your journey- that is a real compliment and I very much value that.
Love your attitude and your passion for outdoor activities....it is so pretty on this island and hard to believe it is so close to the city... definitely in my bucket list, thanks for sharing:)
I was so moved by your camping experience on the Island. What a great time you had. I'm turning 70 very soon and each time I have an opportunity to watch another camper my heart soars like an eagle. The scenery was amazing that you were surrounded by. So quiet and pristine. I'm so glad I found your channel. I will start at the beginning of your videos and catch up with you now. Blessings, Teri and my dog Maddie
Lovely! Thank you. I use the same stove setup in colder weather. You may have the stove support triangle upside down. The spikes hold up the pot. The holes go at the bottom to improve the air to the burner. Enjoyed that. Good photography, great light!
Just found this channel. I am envious of how able bodied you are. I just turned 60 and because of osteo arthritis in my knees, I cannot kneel or squat like you. I am also 12 weeks into healing a broken ankle so that has thrown a spanner in the works! Canada is on our bucket list so I hope to visit in the coming years. Our daughter and SIL got to Canada earlier this year and the scenery was breathtaking! Best wishes xx
I have been very fortunate in the health department. I hope you make it here too. This is a huge country with so much to see. Hope your ankle heals well.
Hi Wendy, Thanks for sharing another adventure in those beautiful surroundings. I’m going to consider an alcohol stove, a tarp, and a book on my next trip.
That was a delightful video, Wendy. I'm an avid camper and I just bought my first alcohol stove. Got it in the mail today and haven't tried it out yet, so I was delighted to see you using yours. Yes, I've heard that they take longer to heat stuff, but seems so convenient. The island and your campsite were very nice. What a great campsite right by the beach. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Wisconsin, USA.
You are so cool. Love your vids. You should consider a flint fire starter. You can get a cheep one at any camping store. Easy to start fires and don't have to rely on a lighter. Take care and God bless
thanks Dave- I actually have a fire steel but didn't bring the right knife to use it properly. You are absolutely right . It works way better than a lighter for the alcohol stove. Don't burn your fingers.
I was going through videos and heard the thunder on your intro. I am 71 and my hubby is on hospice. I have always loved camping and this has been in the back of my mind. I believe you have convinced me to maybe give it a shot sometime.
so sorry to hear about your husband . A difficult time for you both. Maybe camping will be something you can do in the future. Just going for a walk may do it for now. take care.
New subscriber here 🤗, I love your videos. I go camping whenever I can find a place that's wheelchair accessible or just flat enough for me to get around.
so happy to hear from you and that a person who needs some accessibility to camping I am very happy to hear you can find what works for you. This channel is all about modifying as our situations change and doing what we can to just get out and enjoy the wonders of nature. thanks for your comments.
@wendyoutdoors2230 OMG I feel special that you read my comment and replied! You are such a calming person to watch and I am a new subscriber!!!! Thank you for making these videos!!
Thanks for noting the fine points on the stove. Always interested to see what people are making for camp food. Thanks for sharing that too! Going to watch your dehydrated food video next.
I loooove Newcastle Island, it is such a pretty and quiet little island. It's been a few years since I've been and really need to go back. Thanks for sharing your adventure darlin!💜
Such a lovely place! It looks so wild and windswept, but still so close to a city. I'm surprised there weren't more people there enjoying it, other than you and a couple hikers that we saw in the background. A good book and a rain(storm) are always a great combination no matter where you are. Hope you're doing well. Thanks for sharing!
Love it, Wendy! Reminds me when I was younger camping out in Tahoe area. Lots to be said about keeping it simple. Thank you for sharing, love the new type of camping gear.

Hi. It was a beautiful scene after the rain. Breathtaking!!!
Yes it was for sure Diane. thanks for watching
Greetings from Wisconsin, USA.
thanks for coming along Judy- great to have
You’re such an inspiration! Thanks for taking us along!
You are so welcome! I love having you
You are so cool.
Great video! Super peaceful. So greatful for your content. Very empowering! :)
Thank you so much!
I love this! Rain camping is the best when you wanna relax. I have little kids so right now they dont like rain camping but i cant wait until they do!
Hi Wendy- I agree, especially when you are dry while it rains.
@wendyoutdoors2230 OMG I feel special that you read my comment and replied! You are such a calming person to watch and I am a new subscriber!!!! Thank you for making these videos!!
Hello! I’m a Wendy too. I love camping videos, although I don’t camp. Stumbled across your channel, quite by accident. I can’t wait to watch more!
thanks to another Wendy!
What a great video! Thanks for sharing❤
you are very welcome.
Saysutshun New Castle Island :-) Lovely. I have not gotten to camp there . . .yet!
go for it, it is a wonderful hidden treasure for sure.
Thanks for noting the fine points on the stove. Always interested to see what people are making for camp food. Thanks for sharing that too! Going to watch your dehydrated food video next.
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely wonderful ❤... Such a beautiful campsite 😊... Just found your channel... Greetings from Ireland ☘️... Liked & subbed 😊☘️
Welcome aboard Paul- wonderful to have you along - thank you
Greetings from Australia. Awesome to see you taking advantage of little getaways so close to suburbia. Nice hiking camp setup too 👍
Thanks for watching!
That was pretty awesome, everything from the weather to the site, food looked good too! Thx for the ride🙂✌️
thanks for coming along Rolland
Golly you did well with that tarp! Am loving your quilt-it looks so cozy!
thanks Amanda- yes, the quilt I cosy- will give it a better test later this fall.
I loooove Newcastle Island, it is such a pretty and quiet little island. It's been a few years since I've been and really need to go back. Thanks for sharing your adventure darlin!💜
thanks Shannon- I really enjoy it.
Thank you for sharing your camping trip, gotta love those thunder storms 😊
thanks Janice-
Such a lovely place! It looks so wild and windswept, but still so close to a city. I'm surprised there weren't more people there enjoying it, other than you and a couple hikers that we saw in the background. A good book and a rain(storm) are always a great combination no matter where you are. Hope you're doing well. Thanks for sharing!
there were some others but they are very well spread out across a large area. Excellent park planning.
Love it, Wendy! Reminds me when I was younger camping out in Tahoe area. Lots to be said about keeping it simple. Thank you for sharing, love the new type of camping gear.
The newer gear has really helped me extend my camping years. Much lighter and easier to pack. Works for me!!!
What a lovely place. How cool to take a ferry to an island to give you that faraway feel but still close to an urban setting.
It was perfect Paula- I was so surprised . thank you
Thank you for showing us Newcastle island, I've been wondering about camping there for years!
It is great, go for it!
I love the line “There’s always a pro and there’s always a con.” What a stunning area! Thank you for sharing your experiences. You are an inspiration to others (particularly women) who want to get out and try solo camping. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
thank you Jean- It is a very beautiful area for sure.
Thanks, Wendy - what a lovely trip! You really captured the visual and aural beauty of the location and that storm!
thank you- I was totally enthralled with the light!
You are the first older person I've seen out camping. This motivates me to get back out there. Thanks
Awesome! Thank you, I hope you might consider it.
