I own a 2014 Street Triple 675R, I just love it. Its light (compered to many) Sounds great when opened up. I had the bikes suspension set up by a pro, (For my weight) run the back ...Pirelli Diablo Corsa... tyre at a slightly lower pressure. The bike handles beautifully on twisty roads.... Fortunately, here in Spain the roads are better maintained, rough and potholes surfaces are not a problem. I believe the striple series of Triumph are just great.....Interesting to see how these bikes have progressed in the last few years though..I'm 73 so I suspect my hooligan days are numbered but to finish my biking, from 1963 to present riding the triumph is a real pleasure..
Ah, The eternal question. I think the Speed doesn't egg you on as much as the Street to go nuts. When I get off my Street after a ride I always feel like it's disappointed in me because we could have gone faster. I don't think the Speed is as judgemental. 😆 But no-one will ever have the answer to this question. Great video.👍
@mirlin235 I had an R model 2010 but changed it for a Daytona, Great bike but very uncomfortable. Then some silly old bloke knocked me off it and wrote it off. He nearly wrote me off as well. Two Broken vertebrae in my neck and a broken ankle. I've recovered ok though. Got a Z1000sx now, lovely bike.
@mirlin235 Sorry, I meant the Daytona was very uncomfortable. The Street Triple as you have said is very comfortable. Probably the most enjoyable bike I've ever owned, and I've had a lot. Indeed I am considering a new version RS but the new Ducati Monster is also interesting me. But deep down I am a Triumph fan.
@mirlin235 yes I think you're right about the Ducati but that engine is a belter, I've ridden a supersport and multistrada with it in and thought it was great. I haven't tried the 765 engine, though I'm sure it's great. I'm really thinking I want a naked bike again, the SX is excellent but it's so good and faultless it's quite boring/soul less if you know what I mean. Where do you live? Just wondering.
@mirlin235 well I'm not close at all. I live in West Yorkshire, England but I imagine the climate is similar. Ducati maintenance is expensive here too. Triumph have got more expensive here recently due to their popularity and premium image but not as expensive as the Italian exotica. It's a small world isn't it.😀
I have the 2020 street RS and I literally can't stop riding it. Its an amazing bit of kit. Rough ride on rough roads but other than that no complaints at all. I LOVE IT!
Had the Street 765R for a year now, great bike, goes like stink and when it's ridden sensible 60mpg you don't need any more for the road or track unless you are a top notch knee down merchant. Great vid chops thanks.
I’ve had the Street and bought the speed last year, and the instant torque of the speed is addictive and it so much more stable. I would say a more grown up hooligan bike 😂 great side by side real world comparison 👍
Interesting Gary. I had a 2013 Speed, traded it last year for a 2018 Street RS. Great bike but I miss the torque of the Speed. Much more comfortable bike too, at least for me.
Ryan Holt You should try the 2020 Speed triple I think you may want to go back with the extra BHP. They are both lovely bikes but like I said the Speed is more stable and you don’t feel your wringing it’s neck all the time.
I love me a Triumph Triple - can't wait to see what the new Speedie brings to the party 'cos I'm too a bit on the fence these days about which I prefer (in the past the Street won easily but the Speed has been vastly improved over the last iteration).....great vid chaps!
You didn’t seem to love the speed triple R (white one) you tested Andy. I was so surprised. It’s strangled with those lumpy stock cans on it, but the S in red, with a set of carbon SC cans with removable baffles in sounds incredible. can’t fault the fully adjustable stock suspension either. What a bike. Decent top end and great torque delivery. best of both worlds.
So.... @TheMissendenFlyer @Lambchoprides - I am on the look out for moving up from (my 2nd...) Street Triple RS 765 (the first one) to a Speed Triple RS. The Speed, is the engine more of a 'lump' bit capacity, or does it like to rev out? Not thinking it's as revy as the Street Mind. But a sense of urgency - The last big capacity bike I owned a K1200s BMW was just 'an engine' - fast, but uninvolving
My partner has a Street R which she loves, my son has the Street RS but is disappointed in it, possibly due to the fact that the addictive induction raw keeps getting him into trouble 🤦♂️. I rode the Speed RS a couple of years ago and it blew me away, absolutely loved it. I tested a lot of bikes that year and without hesitation I wanted one....so what did I do? 🤔 I bought a Tiger 1200 XRT as we were looking for a bike for the two of us for a European tour. The bike was amazing but my lady said that she would rather be riding her own bike now so maybe a Speed is back on the table for this year 🤞
@@minicopilot1he says that he should have brought a different bike as his previous bike was a sports naked, also he tends to ride it too fast as the induction sounds addictive. I've riden his bike and I thought it was great. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
I just bought a 2020 Speed 1050RS after owning a 2015 Street 675R for a few years. I thought the 675R was nimble and easy to throw around... until I rode the 1050RS. On paper it is 17kg heavier, on the road however it is completely different. It holds the corners better, absorbs the bumps better, smoother acceleration obviously without having to be at WOT to get it to move. It's honestly the bike I should have bought when I got the 675R, but I am glad I have finally gotten myself onto one now. It is an absolute dream to ride, and the de-baffled SC Projects muffler with mid pipe just sounds incredible (ear plugs needed for longer trips though!). Keen to get it tuned, as these engines respond very nicely to some extra timing!
Cracking review of 2 beautys Chopsy.. Greg's a good bloke isn't he.. an excellent side kick for your channel.. a Robin to your Batman so to speak! 😅Very informative to watch and to get those instant impressions from each rider. Nice one buddy as always Stay safe matey. Stew 👍👍👍
I went for the speed over the street for the pure extra grunt. Plus I like manning the bike into corners. The street felt like sitting on a fly, which my is no bad thing. Both great bikes but the speed scared me a bit, which I liked 👍🏻
What a great way to finish a Perth Sunday here, top comparison Gents. I spent some time weighing the pros and cons of both models and finally decided on the Speed. Key reasons, cruise control (great for longer rides), imu, far better display and the higher spec ohlins. You get use to keyless start too. Throw a low boy on her and you lose 7 kilos of upsprung weight too while the ohlins make it easy to adjust!! Roll on the 1160 :)
@@sjaisie how is it faster? It doesn't have nearly as much power as the speed? Or are you saying for you it was easier to ride fast compared to the speed triple?
@@willbuesseler8739 the street 765 RS has more HP/kg than the 2011 Speed. Speed 0.62hp per kg Street 0.63hp per kg The speed has much more torque but the weight makes it slower in the corners, at least for me anyway! If you want to go fast in a straight line stay with speed. If you want to be faster and smoother in the corners get a street.
Hello Chopsy - I bought a Speed RS last year and luv it! At 6'2'' & 103 Kg I find the Ohlins suspension settings are bob on for the road. The 1050 triple is sooo addictive with the air intake howl and the way it just picks up it skirt and romps into the distance whether 4th 5th or 6th..luv it!! just wish the keyless included the petrol cap.
I agree with comments about TFT screens, call me simple, but why don’t triumph allow a download update so street owners can have the better speed screen layouts?
The street had that layout before the speed even had the TFT screen. The street is on the second iteration and that speed is on the original. Why they changed it? No idea but they have changed it again on the new Speed so they are probably going to change it on the street soon because everyone seems to be complaining about the change.
I love your reviews, Greg and you are such a good team ! Always being able to be factual but also emotional and funny, not forgetting the nice shootings. And last but not least, you're so british and that's a big plus ;) Greetings form Luxembourg, Tom
Selling my Harley to buy a street or speed triple, not sure if the triple is quick than my street Bob straight line. 115hp and 110 tq stage 2 w cam. Not a Harley guy at all buy something about it feels like a raw muscle car. Miss my street twin though!
I've owned the street triple rs and it was one of the best bikes I've owned. I found it to be involving, fast, good handling and comfortable. The only criticism I made was it was way to firm for the UK roads (even with the shock adjusted) I now own the speed triple rs. I find the ride quality to be far better, it just feels so much more complete package. I love the attention to detail, the carbon parts, the arrow cans and the ohlins set up is utterly brilliant. August 2020 prices : Speed triple rs £13600 Free quickshifter (£300 option) £1000 deposit contribution £500 clothing voucher 1 years rac cover 1 years road tax So in comparison to the £10500 Street, it's not so much of a big step financially for the top of the range. Either bike is truly amazing whichever you decide!
I rode both back to back last summer, and concluded that if the bike were ladies, the Street’s the one you’d take home to meet your Mum, but the Speedy is the one you’d never dare take home but just had to keep seeing. Totally addicted to that torque. I have a Street Triple 675R currently, but I’m seriously having to choose between the Super Duke R and the Speedy RS.
@@cookies7531 I bought the 2020 Speed RS. It is a bit of beast, but I love the additional road presence, looks and power. What a ride! Every time I get off at the end of a trip!
Best video so far Chopsie. As I always say I'll always keep my Speedie RS. My best purchase and love it to bits. It's got a tough presence about it and a sound to die for. Go Team Greg. Cheers from Melbourne.
I own the street triple rs 2020 and i can see the dash and find it at least usable. Id definitely prefer the dash from the 2018. Theres an option so you can have the tachometer at the top of the screen to see in clear numbers what revs you are doing
I had the 765 RS and recently upgraded to the speedy and a couple of items not mentioned so far is that the speedy certainly runs hotter and the fueling is not as good at low RPMs. I could also ride the 765 on instinct and the speedy requires more attention. a much more serious ride. That said, I love the extra torque on the speedy (especially with a passenger) and am happy with the switch.
Great review. I just bought the 2022 Street RS, and I love it. I didn't consider the Speed because I'll always go for light weight over power when it comes to "sporty" bikes. Glad to see some one else shares my hate for the dash on the Street, it's the only thing I don't like about the bike. I have actually written to Triumph, asking someone to find the graphic designer responsible, then give them a big slap.
Over many years of Triumph ownership I had several Speeds & Streets as loaners while my Tiger was being serviced. When I wanted a 2nd bike I got a Street without hesitation = lighter, nimbler, more engaging, and more fun. Speed might have advantages but only in rare circumstances. Street is the real world winner.
There is a current deal , running for a little while yet I believe, on the Speed RS. £1k deposit contribution, but you have to take the finance. Apparently you can pay the finance off after a couple of weeks, so you don't have to live with the 7.9% APR (if you can get finance cheaper elsewhere). On the current Speed RS deal, there's an included quick shifter. There's also a £500 voucher for clothing, but there is confusion over whether this also covers accessories. So it's possible you could get heated grips, and maybe an alarm for just a tiny bit over the £500 voucher. Ask you're local dealer :)
Great vid but if I may make a suggestion - you both refer to the bikes as "this" & "that" and it's hard to determine what bike you are referring to. If you use thier names it sould be easier to keep track of that bike you are commenting on. Still a great comparison 👍
I would love to see a superduke vs speed triple. Purely because they are why I’m torn between for my next bike. Superduke it winning at the moment but there is an 1160 speed coming out soon!
For less experienced riders the Speed is a better option, more experienced riders could find it a bit dull compared to the higher powered SDR. I had a £7,000 budget at the time I purchased it and couldn’t stretch to the extra for a 2017+ SDR. I’ve had a Speed R for 2 years which I plan to replaced next summer with a SDR.
I haven't ridden one but the general consensus is the SDR is just bonkers. The Speed is a bike you can ride sensibly and commute on, the Duke is a bike you wheelie out of every corner. Which sounds like great fun but it probably gets tiring when you just want to go from A to B and it keeps trying to make you lose your license, a bit like a superbike in that sense. Plus KTM looks are always an "acquired taste" (the Triumph does have ugly headlamps but those are an easy fix).
Sérgio Alves It’s quite easy to ride normally, with the quickshifter and all the torque you can just cruse around like a big scooter. The one I test rode only had 50 miles on it so had to ride it slower than I wanted to to get a good idea how it rides. I had a 2007 Tuono R Factory which was a mental bike, hopefully the SDR is the same.
I had test rides of the SDR and Speed Triple on the same day. SDR, awesome bike, but was a bit too bonkers for me. I'm sure lots of people "need" the SDRs kind of nutiness , me I opted for the less extreme nutiness of the Speed. ( as Bryan Haynes points out, I am a less experienced rider )
Got speed and had street for a courtesy bike just yesterday and riding back to back. Street sounds better and is lighter but the speed like a grown up bike. Street suspension softer and I like that. My speed suspension too stiff for my 13st but good 2 up. Definitely speed for me all told and no regrets
Really nice vid & review. You guys make a good team. I always enjoy this type of chat review set up & Gregorio lol isn't afraid to give an opinion which is good. Personally as I don't do big miles, I would go for the street out of the two as it's smaller, lighter, cheaper & I can use more of it more of the time.
Happy with my recent purchase of a Brand New Speed Triple 1050 RS for £11.5k which included autobliper and heated grips. Turn off the traction control and it will wheelie on demand. Only downside is useless rear hugger which doesn't stop road grime covering the rear seat when out on a wet ride.
Btw the screen on the speed is the same on the older street triple rs. It was changed for the 2020 model street for some reason. I have the same dash as the speed on my 2017 Street RS
Great review, I have a street rs and previously had the speed r, which looks better more muscular but for everyday use the lighter street wins for me but both awesome, Cheers Chopsy
I have an RS street triple and the weight at rest, specifically at a traffic light, I love it. I turn up at a light and look around, no plans, and leave, as much as I was on a mountain bike. I had a tiger 1200 when I felt I needed a 15 point check approaching a set of lights to make sure I didn’t drop it or kill anyone, my street triple (relatively) feels like I can point it anywhere and still recover any misdemeanour
I have the 2020 street triple 765rs and love it, only thing I'm not happy with is the engine has cut out a few times and nearly been rear ended. Going back to dealership again.
I am running a 2020 Street Triple RS and agree there is a delay in the power it is strange and I wonder if it is the restrictive exhaust and the emissions. Just had a full exhaust fitted and am awaiting to have a power commander installed and tuned to see if it removes that 'lag'
I had the 2018 Street triple R (with added quickshifter) but after watching and reading a lot of reviews on the 2020 RS I decided that I might buy it if my test ride was favourable, so after an afternoon spent riding around the north west of N.Ireland (were the N.W. 200 is run annually) and down to Enniskillen, I found that Triumph had genuinely beefed up the RSs mid-range and improved the ride quality to where it no longer felt like a stripped down supersport bike, I was on the verge of trading in my R when the dealer asked if I'd like to ride the 2020 R , I hadn't seen any tests on the new R and the only thing I knew was the new bike had the Bi-Directional quickshifter as standard but thought I'll give it a try, Phew! I'm so glad I did , Triumph have made just as many improvements to the R as they've made to the RS, apart from the quickshifter they've changed 1st and 2nd gear so that acceleration is improved, the body work changes replicate those of the RS, IMO the R is still the better every day bike right down to its Pirelli diablo corsa II tyres, which suit all conditions. you'll have no doubt guessed I didn't after all go for the RS, I opted for the R and I'm very pleased with my choice ,the only negative being the lack of TFT screen which has been replaced by the old 675 street triple dash, though the bi directional quickshifter more than compensates for this.
Went for Street triple R myself. New rider…. I would not see the lack of the TFT as downside. As it is not nearly as crisp as a BMW for example. And it shows too much information and is not as intuitive. I got the R and really love the LCD/analog dash combo. Get the info I need in an instant. And get real, most of the RS specs over the R are more suited to seasoned race track riders. And I am to old for that. But not too old to get a total blast riding the R. The R offers plenty. Also, the tires on the R are more all weather suited. Power on the RS is not the issue. I did like the RS on the test ride and it was still me riding the bike. The R does not feel lacking in any way. It is just the price difference of the RS vs the R and perceived value for money. For a few bucks the R can be turned into an RS lookalike. Belly pan, bar end mirrors and upgraded brake reservoirs. And with some ecu tuning the engine power could be made to match the RS… so I do not see any reason to buy the RS….. unless you are an experienced rider who can put the upgraded suspension and brakes to good use….. Now after putting 1000 kms on I know this is just the bike for me. Light, easy to ride, great sound and nice to look at. And plenty of potential to discover.
Great video as I'm currently considering both these bikes! Bit of feedback though: I tried listening to this video without watching, but as you keep referring to the bikes as "this bike" and "that bike" it made it impossible to know what bike you were talking about without keeping track of which bike who of you were riding the time. Hadn't thought much of it before but I suppose that's why reviewers often insist on spelling out the name of the vehicle to make it easier to follow, watching or not.
Destination Triumph, Washington pointed me over here. Having been on both, defo felt like the speed was a more “mature” choice, the street felt harder to relax on and a lot more “racey”. The speed felt like it was being what it I wanted it to be. Excellent review btw!
I have had a few too many bikes to list, most on a 3yr terms yet the only bike ever bought was my 675 09 Street R and still love it, its just a do it all brilliant bike with true build quality and 12 years on its still a total joy to run round the streets of london on. My BMW S1kRR was nice and i almost bought it after the 3 yrs were up but I always worry when parking when the police are around or if i stacked it. None of which i have with my trusty STR.
Love my 2018 Speed RS ... went to Assen BSB on it last year ... cruise control, heated grips and auto blipper are fantastic and a triple engine litre bike makes cruising and lazy riding a breeze !!! Took the underseat exhausts off and fitted single low sided which I think improves the looks .... great review as ever 👍🏻
Oddjob6120 hi mate ... yeah I took off pillion footpegs and dual exhausts as didn’t want the aggro drilling out baffles etc ... I fitted an SP Engineering carbon which, sounds great and so far has kept its looks .... looked at the Austin & Sc Project which both also looked good but both louder than mine .... Totally agree about colours ! I thought the 2018 debate of gloss white v matt black/red (which I have) was fierce but that flouro 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Having owed the Speed RS for a year, it’s definitely underrated but I can understand why. It’s missing a bit of character about it compared to many of the other Naked offerings. It’s a really good bike, perhaps just a bit too adult for a hooligan class.
Many pro bike testers actually prefer the Street R to the stiffer and peakier Street RS. The suspension is better suited to the roads and it has a bit more low and mid range grunt. The 2020 version is even cheaper than last years and has a proper analogue rev counter [hooray]. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on a direct comparison between the 2 [or 3] Street Triples. Great vid Chops [as always], take care mate and ride safe.
Hi John that was a great video Sir , put together really well & great audio, i'm with you guy's on the street triple, rode the 2020 street rs & found it to be soft & flexible, haven't tried the speed yet? would like to give it a go as it might be the ideal road bike as a bit of an all rounder easier going, head lights from street & tail tidy mmm, ATB Wayne ...........
had speeds for years, love them, Street RS at the moment fantastic bike, no reason to change but if the new speedy is a bigger street with more power, whats not to love ?
I was watching your review really getting into it, then started to smell oil and fuel - thought wow!! Amazing watching the video of you two on bikes is reminding me of what the bike smells like! Then I realised I had my bike in the front room sight next to me haha...
You mentioned deals to be had on the speed RS at Triumph dealers now. I was looking around at one one of these as my next bike. I spoke to my local dealers who offered me their ex demo with 500 miles on it for £10,500 😳😳 I hadn't tested the Tuono or Ducati Monster 1200s yet so I turned it down. Put my money on a new 1200s Monster in the end. Waiting for the Sept 1st new reg to pick it up. Keep up the good work, enjoy your videos mr LCR 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Got my Street Triple S A2 2020 two months ago (and man am i in love), already dreaming of one of these two when i upgrade my license in two years and ridden the s with 95ps for some more time :D
I'm considering getting a 1050RS, but I'm wondering if a Street is enough for me. My Guzzi Griso is a great bike but on group rides the 1540mm wheelbase makes it a bit of a maul. So I plan to keep that as a cruiser and get a more sporty second which still has some luggage capacity. This video has really helped me, I think I need the larger midrange of the Speed. The Street has less torque than the Guzzi.
Just buy both? I have a street(2016) and speed(2020), and exactly has you described, I take the street out for short weekend runs and the speed for longer runs/tours.
Thoroughly confused in the end. Would’ve helped to have the bikes side on as opposed to head on. Choice depends a lot on what you want the bike for, funds and whether you’re a good enough rider to justify the extra. I’m not but I like the carbon fibre more than the plastic - more expensive if you drop it.
I'm just about to watch it. This is an issue I recently faced ! So this is my prediction. Speed RS lots more grunt, pulls from lower gears better. Street RS, lighter, a bit more flickable, and handles a bit better in the bends. Around the bends, not much difference in how fast you can go. Street is probably a bit quicker. On the straight Speed RS will leave the Street RS standing. Is the Speed RS worth the extra £3k, (there's a deal on right now, more like £2k) probably not, unless you like lots of low end grunt. Which I do ! So for me the Speed RS is the winner, but the Street RS is a very good bike, and if you're good at gear changing (I'm not) the Street RS will not be a lot slower than the Speed RS.
@Oddjob6120 I think most people would agree they both look ugly lol I've seen some single conversions as they looked pretty good. Triumph fans will always find them weird simply because the twin lights are such a trademark Triumph look, with a single it looks more like a generic naked bike. It's one of those cases in which the ugly is actually part of its charm. But the old round doubles definitely look much better than the bug eyes, even if they do look a bit dated. It's still not pretty but it looks mean and muscular, the bug eyes are just ugly with no redeeming features. The Speed ones that is, they look much better on the new Street (and the next Speed will probably get those too).
The headlights aren't wonderful. They could always be worse, just look at the current BMW S1000R, or KTMs, the Yamaha MT10 . Mind you, I do know people who like those ! So BMW , KTM and Yamaha do manage to sell plenty of them. In the superish 140 BHP plus naked class, for me Honda seem to have the best headlight on the CB1000R.
@Oddjob6120 I don't mind the Speedy or Streety lights, they're okay. I do have a soft spot for a single round headlight. Maybe I'm a bit of a dinosaur. I'm am currently swapping a Street S for a Speedy RS, so I can't mind the headlights that much . Although I think the Honda CB1000R light looks a bit better, I preferred riding a Speedy over a CB1000R.
@Oddjob6120 I agree , you don't need more than a Speedy on the road. I test rode a Honda CB1000R , very pretty , but a bit too smooth, suspension a bit soft, dash was really hard to see, a KTM 1290 super duke, way too bonkers for me ( and that really does have "challenging headlights"), a Street Triple RS ( I already had a Street S 660cc derestricted to 94 BHP ) , and a Speed RS. The Speedy had the all important low down grunt. Honda had to be wound up a bit , by which time it was already getting to naughty speeds. Super Duke well that was nuts, very vibey, vibes reminded me of my Speed Twin ( So I do have 1 round headlight bike !). The Street RS , whilst better than my 660cc Street S 94 BHP, wasn't massively better. Test ride on Speedy RS just brought a massive grin to my face, and the Arrow cans sounded the best out of all the bikes I test rode. I thought that the current Speedy RS handled pretty much as well as a Street RS.
The street rs is a little but of a legend in its own right.when it launched back in 2016-18 no one has seen such a incredible middleweight naked machine with class topping software, hardware and performance
Thanks guys a great review. As a first litre bike coming up from a smaller bike, the Speed is a great option. Easy to ride, smooth, enough naughty but also a gentleman. I have enjoyed owning the 2016 Speed R and highly recommend it. I think I'm now ready to move to something like a KTM SDR next, 2020 model. In comparison I found the Street Triple like an excitable teenager, energy, agile and it made me want to throw it around a lot but I got over wanting to ring its neck and ultimately I was happy to get back to the lovely planted feel of the Speed. Both great bikes for different reasons.
FYI this is the first video I've watched of you guys and it took me a third of the video to figure out who was who and what bike was what and what bike was what when you guys were sitting down.
Ah so pleased to see your video as always. 😀 the combination of the two of you reviewing the bikes, works really well. We very much enjoyed it. My wife was trying to work out why you mentioned Cornwall. I had to explain it not Cornwall. Torque not Torquay! 😀👍
Curious about the ongoing comments about suspension and stiffness? Given they both have adjustments - is this an observation that could be adjusted on the Speed (dialing back compression and rebound) or is it just the difference in Spec of the Ohlins on the Speed vs. Street? I'll be upgrading bikes in the near future, and am interested to know is this a Spec difference, or just set up difference? Great video, very much appreciate the side by side comparison as its not widely done. Thanks!
Great vid lads. I am tossing up between 3 Zx6r Street Speed I do alot of mileage on my rides so at the moment i think the speed is a nose in front. Would a dyno run be wasting money on the speed do you think?
I own a 2017 speed triple S in black. I personally can’t fault it. The street stock sounds better. But I like the low down grunt of the Speed. In the end I don’t think you can go wrong either way. 👍🏻
It would be interesting if you also done the same quotes for NR2/3 or even 5 where I live (actual Norwich lol) , NR11 is countryside/quiet coastal area well out of Norwich. I did notice you like using Norwich/Norfolk for your quotes as you used it before, is there a particular reason for that?
I preferred the speed over the street because of the geometry more forgiven on the speed triple. When i tested the street triple my knee's ached like bugger ,whereas the speed i loved more at 5' 9" 32 inside leg.
Cracking comparison video yet again chops, this series is great, very informative and interesting having two opinions, how about KTM superduke R / superduke GT. 👍
Would be nice if you called them by name instead of “this one and that one” for those who aren’t familiar
😆😆😆
Yeah, I spent most of the time trying to work out which one was which, and still none the wiser lol
A year later and this was pretty much my comment after pausing a third of the way though.
Just before four minutes they indicate that the bike on the left side of the screen was the Street & the Speed is on the right.

It's a small world isn't it.😀
@mirlin235 drop me an email and I will send you some pictures of a Bonneville T100 I've been modifying.
ricknclare1@yahoo.co.uk.
I have the 2020 street RS and I literally can't stop riding it. Its an amazing bit of kit. Rough ride on rough roads but other than that no complaints at all. I LOVE IT!
Alan Edwards ditto.
Still think the Street Triple RS was the right choice for me, loved the comparison though.
Thanks Gary
Maybe u should have a go on the 1290 superduke...I'd say that's the best hooligan bike, just huge amounts of torque everywhere....love mine 👍
Gren Phelps your probably right but I suffer from little leg syndrome so I would probably need stabilisers 😂😂
Interesting Gary. I had a 2013 Speed, traded it last year for a 2018 Street
RS. Great bike but I miss the torque of the Speed. Much more comfortable bike too, at least for me.
Ryan Holt
You should try the 2020 Speed triple I think you may want to go back with the extra BHP.
Thanks Andy 👍👍
Morning Chops,
Street for me mate.
Had mine for the last couple of years, it’s a joy.
Excellent , my misses is starting to lose interest in riding pillion im keen as mustard to look at the coming speed triple 1160
Why do British people sound so lame lmao
@@DB-sd3cw i thought it sounds amazing
Nice one buddy as always
Stay safe matey. Stew 👍👍👍
Thanks Stew 👍
I went for the speed over the street for the pure extra grunt. Plus I like manning the bike into corners. The street felt like sitting on a fly, which my is no bad thing. Both great bikes but the speed scared me a bit, which I liked 👍🏻
Love my street rs, amazing bike. So flick able in the twisties and still enough grunt for the road
Brian Woodburn rode them both...twice. My pick was the Street RS. Lovely bit of kit that streetie.
@TheNakedTriple or just give it some whelly and pull the clutch like i do xD
After seeing your great review and going for a test ride I pick my speed triple 1050rs 2019 up today keep doing what your doing thanks regards jason
Street Triple for me. Both cracking bikes and I loved your review.
I had a 2011 Speed Triple for 3 years, and have now got the 2020 Street Triple RS. Best decision I ever made chopping the Speed for the Street.
I own a 2011 speed triple...I'm curious as to why switching was so good? I've never ridin a street
@@willbuesseler8739 the street is just so much more enjoyable to ride for me. So light and easy to ride fast! Also faster than the speed was!
@@sjaisie how is it faster? It doesn't have nearly as much power as the speed? Or are you saying for you it was easier to ride fast compared to the speed triple?
@@willbuesseler8739 the street 765 RS has more HP/kg than the 2011 Speed.
Speed 0.62hp per kg
Street 0.63hp per kg
The speed has much more torque but the weight makes it slower in the corners, at least for me anyway!
Brilliant review.
Having Greg in the video doing a dual vlog , works so well 👏🏻
I love your reviews, Greg and you are such a good team ! Always being able to be factual but also emotional and funny, not forgetting the nice shootings. And last but not least, you're so british and that's a big plus ;) Greetings form Luxembourg, Tom
Great watching! Speed for me ! Great to have Greg on the channel, works well it’ll be good to see you both do more vids together
Thanks Dave more to come 👍
My favorite activity is riding my Speed Triple on a Saturday morning, searching for Harley Riders on the road and ruining their day, so much fun.
Yeah but that doesn't take much. Go for better game. You know...the guys on 10 year old R1s!!!🤣🤣🤣 my speedy will just torch them lol
@@jace2wheel762 Yeah. I'm not sure HD riders really care. R1 riders probably will :-D
my fav activity is chasing sportsbikes on my 50bhp Moto Guzzi V7, it is a lot of work, but such a giggle! :D
Selling my Harley to buy a street or speed triple, not sure if the triple is quick than my street Bob straight line. 115hp and 110 tq stage 2 w cam. Not a Harley guy at all buy something about it feels like a raw muscle car. Miss my street twin though!
After your brilliant reviews on these two bikes.
Ian now the proud owner of a 2017 speed triple R.Bloody hell Chopsy😮
WHAT A BIKE ❤❤❤❤
I've owned the street triple rs and it was one of the best bikes I've owned.
I found it to be involving, fast, good handling and comfortable.
The only criticism I made was it was way to firm for the UK roads (even with the shock adjusted)
I now own the speed triple rs.
I find the ride quality to be far better, it just feels so much more complete package.
I love the attention to detail, the carbon parts, the arrow cans and the ohlins set up is utterly brilliant.
August 2020 prices :
Speed triple rs £13600
Free quickshifter (£300 option)
£1000 deposit contribution
£500 clothing voucher
1 years rac cover
1 years road tax
So in comparison to the £10500 Street, it's not so much of a big step financially for the top of the range.
Which one did you choose?
@@cookies7531 I bought the 2020 Speed RS. It is a bit of beast, but I love the additional road presence, looks and power. What a ride! Every time I get off at the end of a trip!
Best video so far Chopsie. As I always say I'll always keep my Speedie RS. My best purchase and love it to bits. It's got a tough presence about it and a sound to die for. Go Team Greg. Cheers from Melbourne.
Thanks Craig appreciated 👍
Got my brand new 2020 Street RS for £9400. Absolutely love it. The fact that you’re comparing it with a £13,500 bike shows just how good it is.
Who shrank Greg’s jacket?!?! 🤣
Great video guys! 👍🏻
I’m looking to get one of these two,as a play thing.
I think I’m leaning towards the speed triple after your reviews. Many thanks .
Nice Format on the video, very professionally done.
Thanks RR, so pleased people like the format so more to come 👍
Happy with my recent purchase of a Brand New Speed Triple 1050 RS for £11.5k which included autobliper and heated grips. Turn off the traction control and it will wheelie on demand. Only downside is useless rear hugger which doesn't stop road grime covering the rear seat when out on a wet ride.
Amazing price!!!
I really like the sit down review format👍
🔥🔥Great video - The 2021 Speed Triple appears to have a major update coming🔥🔥
Whats that ?
Nice vid 👌 I tested both, preferred the torque and sound of the Speed... then bought a SuperDuke GT 😁
I’d definitely pick the speed. Another great review and a good watch.
Great format Chopsy....and Gregory. These comparisons with the two of you are great 👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks James 👍
Destination Triumph, Washington pointed me over here. Having been on both, defo felt like the speed was a more “mature” choice, the street felt harder to relax on and a lot more “racey”. The speed felt like it was being what it I wanted it to be. Excellent review btw!
Yes agree with you, nice that DT sent you over here 👍
I loved the comparison and duel reviews. Awesome job!
Correct, A gentleman`s hooligan bike it is.
What would you recommend that less mannerly?
Love this format chops, think Greg was a superb co host too - you bounced off each other well
Thanks, yes I really like it and planning more 👍
Many pro bike testers actually prefer the Street R to the stiffer and peakier Street RS.
Thanks very much Wayne appreciated buddy 👍
had speeds for years, love them, Street RS at the moment fantastic bike, no reason to change but if the new speedy is a bigger street with more power, whats not to love ?
Interesting video...I’ve always had a soft spot for the Speed.
Bravo and good on you both for a great and useful review!
I was thinking of getting the Speed Triple you've answered all my questions on the video 👍
Funnily enough I saw the same colourways and same two bikes pop into the bike Shed last night!
Great vid! 👍
Love my GSXR but now I want a Street Triple damn you! 😁
Another great review but twice as much fun thanks Chops
were their suspensions adjusted similarly? my Daytona 765 changed dramatically after being adjusted by a pro.
Great comparison vid , nicely done 👍.
I think triumph needs to work on those headlights (butt-ugly).
How could you! Each to their own.
@Oddjob6120 I think most people would agree they both look ugly lol
I've seen some single conversions as they looked pretty good.
Great video Chops, considering the Street for my next bike so good to hear both your thoughts!
You really should test ride the Speed and the Street. They're both very good.
Thanks Doug 👍
Speed Triple. Hands down. It's a monster.
FYI this is the first video I've watched of you guys and it took me a third of the video to figure out who was who and what bike was what and what bike was what when you guys were sitting down.
Great comparison video guys!
Ah so pleased to see your video as always. 😀 the combination of the two of you reviewing the bikes, works really well. We very much enjoyed it. My wife was trying to work out why you mentioned Cornwall. I had to explain it not Cornwall. Torque not Torquay! 😀👍
Torquay is Devon 😀
Haha thanks matey appreciated 👍👍
I need to do more research before joking next time. 🙃
Also have toured Belgium and France on the Street. So it is a brilliant alrounder.
Thanks!
You guys made so much about the suspension differences. Were both of them set up properly?
Excellent video. Having never ridden either, I was surprised that the Street might be more up my, er, street. Well done.
Yes its certainly a great bike
Great vid lads.
I am tossing up between 3
Zx6r
Street
Speed
I do alot of mileage on my rides so at the moment i think the speed is a nose in front.
Would a dyno run be wasting money on the speed do you think?
Looking forward to the 2023 street triple rs review.
Is there anything in the pipeline Chopsie.
Yes not until end of May though 👍
You need to re-do this test this summer with the new SpeedTriple RS 1200 v.s. 765 RS
Yes absolutely 💯% 👍
I own a 2017 speed triple S in black. I personally can’t fault it. The street stock sounds better. But I like the low down grunt of the Speed.
In the end I don’t think you can go wrong either way. 👍🏻
Top top review. Just what I was waiting for!
Speedy for me 😍
me too.
Love the wing mirror placement when you're sat down ..🤦♂️
I'm test riding the Speed this Saturday...
Interesting video, my wife has a 2018 765R ‘low’ and I find it too revvy but I wonder if with the new Speed will have a low option? Great stuff chops!
