Just bought a 2019 New Speed Triple S . Absolutely in love with it. And honeslty if you're just doing mostly street riding go for the S. Way more than what you need. This is by far the best motorcycle ever had and I've been riding for 16 years and owned 8 motorcycles.
Great job Chopsie. Thanks for getting round to doing a test ride on her. I agree with you on the decals. I've got the 2018 RS in White and it's a much classier finish. Loved the way you got the Arrows singing. I had a funny feeling you were gonna enjoy it. Best purchase I've ever made. Cheers from Melbourne 👍
I own a 2016 triple R with arrows and quick shifter, I’ve been waiting for you to test one to hear your thoughts, I’m pleased you were impressed Chops , as I love mine , great all rounder 👌
Great review ... bought my 2018 RS as ex-demo with heated grips and quickshifter fitted .... it’s as brilliant bimbling around town to work and home as it was blasting to Assen for the BSB in September .... enough poke to be great fun , cruise control for the long straight bits, comfy all day 👍🏻 love it !

No I have the 2018 triumph speed triple RS, it first came out in 2018, the current addition. The price of fitting QS was $120 AU dollars which wont mean anything to you if your not in OZ. You seam a bit touchy 🙄
That color scheme is just right and that shifter sounds like it worked perfect with all the great bikes out there it is very hard to choose one I guess that's why you make these videos very nice bike
Last S3 i'd consider is the last of the longer wheelbase, less flighty, 955 type framed 1050's, round headlights, heavier crank, no electronics, etc, the 2008-2010 models. Best S3 made.
This review clinches it. I was going to go get a leftover Aprilia Tuono 1100RR to replace my crashed Street Triple 765R (RIP) but I'm getting the Speed RS instead. That exhaust is awesome. Great review!
Such an awesome machine. My first bike was a 2013 Speed Triple that I enjoyed thoroughly. My next bike most likely will be the new Street Triple, but the Speedie will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thanks for the review Chop’s, glad you like it. Pretty great all rounder. Shame roads were wet and you didn’t get to warm them Sp’s up. Chassis is so well sorted with the bling 👌
Love my GSA but this is the dream other bike in the garage. Had a base model for a day, what a fun bike and the triple sound is addictive. The closest I got was a Sprint 1050 in 2007, lovely triple engine too but different style.
Ordered one of these today, after losing my Tuono in a no fault accident. Was after something a touch more practical and not so focused on track performance. The speed has that in spades, was exactly what I was after after a few years on the tuono.
I believe the M40s and some other things were kept because this speed triple is just filling a gap between old speed triple and the new one, which might be out soon, with the new bored out engine..
Got one in 2018, quickshifter is a must, got heated grips as well. Just love the tone out of those pipes and the engine is just as happy doddling about in town as it is ripping it up. Regret getting the matt black it’s a pain. Also ditched the tyres right away for michelin road 5’s which transformed it into a all year round bike. Brilliant tyres...

Finally a review on the '20 Speed that I wanted to see. I see what you mean on the matte; like it or leave it and the yellow/green. I love both, might have to check on one. Just keep hearing rumors on a 1160.....
Being the owner of a Ducati V4s and Triumph speed triple RS, I can say that both bikes are a lot of fun and have a purpose. I will also say, if one takes the 1200 RS out to a track or just drives it daily without a full titanium exhaust and k&n air filter, they are robbing themselves. The 1200 RS gains so much low end power and torque with addition of the lighter, freer flowing exhaust, and the freer breathing air filter. I’m an American boy and so I don’t have to deal with all the euro5 bullshit but I lived in Berlin for long enough to know there are exhaust systems that can be run over there. I run the full header to muffler tip racefit titanium system and it saves so much weight, gains a ton of torque and hp. The air filter was the uppercut to system. For less than a $1k US dollars for the exhaust, air filter, and ecu flash I managed to totally remake the low end, mid, and high. Are you suddenly going to have a v4s under the hood? Uh, no! But that 1200 will run like a raped ape.

I really do think the Speed Triple is possibly one of the best road bikes available, I'd have one in a snap had I not heard a rumour regarding the Euro 5 version. Them Ultimate Addons phone cases are really neat. You had any issues? My pet peeve with Triumph though is the IMO awful nasty fluro decals... and I am utterly over matt paint having had a matt black V7.... but fluro stickers are tacky.... as bad as fake carbon. Bring back the amazing paint that was available back in the noughties! Come on Triumph, stop giving us stickers, give us paint options like we get with cars, it was your USP over all the other manufacturers back in the day! :-)
Great review as always Mr LCR. I owned two Speed Triples 2009 and 2013 and really enjoyed the smoothness of the throttle response and the grunt although the newer one is just amazing with the gizmos and that fabulous sound. Should I get another one? The wife just said NO...oh well.
I've watched this video about a 100 times not even kidding. I love this bike it will be mine someday. but Bill's responsibilities and children make thi gs a little more difficult lol. But I'm definitely saving
i had the 2016 and it was flawless. i just hope they stop reducing dimension. the best thing this bike had going for itself in the late 90's was, it LOOKED like a beast. keep the esthetics modifications to a minimum triumph.
Excellent video again Chops. It's a Triumph mate, wonderful machines. I've got its little brother the Street Triple, i'm having a ball. Keep 'em coming Chops.
Took a demo bikr speed triple rs out at the NEC show last year, conditions were shocking and was kinda regretting choosing it when I seen it has supercorsas in it, the roads were brown with salt, temprature was about 2 degrees, then I rode it, tottaly confidence inspiring in the worst weather was a nice surprise, felt super polished, quickshifter and blipper was beautifully smooth, this bike was the bike I wish the previous model was when I was ready to buy one, previous model was just missing a bit of thrill, the new one stressed this, ended up buying an mt10, only thing that puts me off is the small tank, think they missed a trick there, especially when the smaller street triple has a bigger tank, won't annoy everyone but is one of the only reasons would put me off buying one
The Triumph 1050 Triple, the kind of engine you can love and hate at the same time. Gets the job superbly done BUT it's a DAMN DINOSAUR (NO, I don't care what Triumph calls it or what they changed, that DOES NOT makes it new).
This model is way overdue for a refresh. It's engine won't cut it for euro 5 emissions in 2021 so they will have to come with an update for next year. They are just selling the current version to get rid of the inventory they still got. Also explains why they didn't update the M40 brakes, no led headlight update like on the street etc. In essence the speed has not changed much in 10 years (engine/chassis), so a big update must be coming. Bennetts bike had an article that Triumph was working on a 1160cc Speed Triple. Will be interesting to see what they will come with.
Finally ! pulled the trigger on this one ...gagging to ride.... ex pat(paddy) in Vegas ! proper mileage to come. Cali to left ! Arizona to the right. Grand canyon/zion above! planned pikes peak, Sierras, and weather! Track days local! grrrrr! git it ye aul geezer.
Excellent review, LCR! I test rode the 2020 Street RS and loved it. With TTC on, it still popped the front in 3rd with a clutch up. I wasn't game to disengage it. I ride a '16 Tiger Sport and like it a lot (apart from its obvious top heavy centre mass). Loads of power and torque. Would very much like to throw a leg over the Speed. The engine is the same, though the Speed has higher figures all round (engine), and is lower and lighter, and with the RS it has a better suspension and brakes package. Wish my TS sounded like that Speedie! I think it's time to trade in the Tiger for something a little more hooligan-ised!
always nice to see a new bike chops but i just am not a fan of the digital dashes at all. if its a hybrid, sure! but not a full digital dash... also, rain is still ride worthy at least but not no foot of snow lol! but i think we both know if you want to be covered for most riding seasons then you are going to have to fork over the cash for those bells and whistles. Sounds great and plenty of get up and giggle juice.
I am still riding an "antique" 2001 955i Speed Triple. No traction control (I have to actually know how to ride)120hp on a 416lb bike. I paid Race Tech to upgrade the forks with HD springs and their magic gold valves which give you the feel of upside down forks. Put a 18" single can under the seat (remapped her via ECU for smooth acceleration from dead start). I am starting to shop for a 2012-13 with ABS and those special PVM mag wheels. I hate anti-wheelie, why have it? Traction control yes. Brembo, yes. Ohlins, sure.
Great bike , love the speed triple but like you said the colours this year are very poor , what happened to all the crazy greens and pink (nuclear red) and yellow of speeds past !
Best make the most of these splendid machines, being as Boris has just brought forward their demise by 5 years I can't see many manufacturers spending much on developing new models with the market being killed off in 15 years.
I've always liked the Speed Triples. Although they are a much different beast now to the T309 (that still looks the best to me). I have to agree with you that the fluoro highlights are a bit unfortunate. Still... It's the engine that's the heart of any motorcycle, and while the triple is a pearler I'm afraid it's overmatched by 1301cc V-Twins and 1077cc V4s. Not just in performance, but packaging and character.
Great review as I’ve got the first generation 1050 and obviously the bike is massively improved from mine but I just can’t get my head around the looks.
Yet another great review, How would you say the GSXS1000 2022 comparison to the 2020 Triumph...very interest to know your thoughts, as I am getting or could be getting the Gsxs depending on your thoughts lol
id love a tuono after my 3 street triples and 1 daytona but i fell like my license would go bye bye so this is really looking like the next step soon enough
Owned a 2012 Speed, great bike but a little cramped in the legs for a taller rider. Was hoping Triumph would replace this 1050 engine with perhaps an increased capacity 150 -160 BHP engine. Still a great looking bike.
I had the Speed Triple RS 2018 with factory installed heated grips and quickshifter for 1000km and it was absolutely perfect. All the power I could ever need and coming from cruisers and Harleys the torque was to die for. The seating position was also nice, just slightly forward but didn't hurt my wrists whatsoever. Then I ran into a deer and the bike got wrecked which I am still so sad about... I want to buy a new one, but it's such a shame that they changed the color options for 2020 because I'm not really digging the black&yellow color.
@HahrtDood It's definitely enough. Even though Harley might have more torque on paper you won't feel any difference. If anything, I think the Triumph feels torquer, which probably has something to do with the significantly lighter weight of the bike.
Entertainment with substance, thanks 007. From Shakespeare’s philosophers to modern day satirists, the clown has always been used to deliver wise commentary with humour, requiring the greatest of skill. You sir, are the bike riding, wheelie throwing clown of motorcycle vloggers.
Def thinking you like the Tuono alot from that review lol. Nice review however, bit gutted looking at the position. Wanted to avoid weight on my wrists, whole reason I went got a Z1KSX (17).
I’m really curious why every bike made nowadays doesn’t have across-the-board LED headlights?? I want all the visibility I can get, but so many bikes are still going half halogen and half LED.
How have you mounted the 360 camera? I've tried tank mounting my GoPro with extension arms but it wobbles a lot and falls off and the plastic extension arms break. And as a professional reviewer who speeds and does wheelies have you ever been caught by the police? I got caught doing a wheelie a while back and threatened with fines, points ect ect which took a lot of the fun out of riding for me. Anyway, back to the bike, I'd love one of these but even with all the extra features it's hard to justify £13,600 over the £3500 second hand MT-07 I currently have.
Top rate review as always Chops. I would be Keen to hear your thoughts on this same engine but detuned on the tiger sport 1050 which SADLY has been discontinued..☹️..any plans on that? Thanks for keeping us subscribed!
A great review, thanks for doing this. I am after a naked and have test rode the Tuono which coming from a BMW S1000XR I found bonkers!! I was planning on test riding the new Ducati V4S but your review has made mw book an appointment with my local Triumph dealer in the morning to have a look at one of these. This might be just the bike I'm looking for. I'll add the QS, heated grips & fly screen and also prefer the white colour scheme. Looking forward to testing it (& I'll save over £5,500 by not buying the Ducati)
Shame you didn’t get he dry roads, still great review. So Would you have an MT10 Or Speed Triple ? Also are you waiting for the back to back before deciding on Street Vs Speed ? Thanks
Nice bike & entertaining review as ever. Although I can't help feeling that while it's a great bike & surely more than enough, it's still a little bit dated & behind the curve compared to the competition. It seems to me that Triumph have taken this particular version as far as they can or want to & a big update is on the way soon. Although I'm sure a new version will be 15k so this may well be a bargain.
Yes if it's going to be top of the pack it does need another 25 - 30hp and your probably right I dont think this engine as it stands can make anymore power.. But all the serious competition are way more expensive than this now, bang for buck its the top sports naked I think
@@LambChopRides true true... just had 3 trials of the RS1200, as couldn't decide why i was getting backache and a headache and it is the bike, sprung way to stiff especially when only 13st in full gear and that is on the comfort setting adjusted suspension, the engine may have more power but its a bit of a pig, fueling does not feel as refined either and low down the bike is pants especially at pottle town speeds... imho the reason they aint selling is they cocked up, they put the trick semi-active on a track-focused RR which would be better suited to the British roads on the RS, maybe they will work on it like Ducati did with the streetfighter. I'm just completing a purchase of a late registered 1050 rs in crystal white. rides so much better than the 1200.
Lovely bike & great review as usual Mr. Chops. Personally I absolutely adore the Speed Triple's matte black / yellow livery, it just looks so awesome. Any plans on getting hold of the 390 Adventure mate? I'm curious to know what you make of it.
Hi Mr Chops Sir, mic placement perfect as always, don't she sound nice ? illuminated switch gear why did they not put that on the street triple ? you can keep the keyless ignition yuk? sorry still think the street does it for me in the real world, nice though, ATB Wayne.
Hmmmmmmm, do I go for the 2020 ST RS next, or the Speed? Not in that colour scheme though - it looks a bit gash in the flesh! Hate the fact the baffles need to be cut out too!
Good review. I've got a '14 Speed R, with the gold bits and some carbon bling. Only add-ons are Arrow cans, Rizoma bar end mirrors, and some removable SW Motech bags. I looked at the new version and don't really see it as an upgrade. It's not a bike that really wants lots of electronics. It's not that kind of bike. I've used it for everything from track days to touring. I do wish Triumph would bring the engine power up to date but they may not be able to do that and keep its flexible character. I've talked to Triumph people and they seem quite happy to keep rolling out one retro-ish twin after another. Disappointing. The Speedie is a hell of a bike.
Yes agreed lovely bike, personally if I had one would just run it with electronics off. Which is a bit of a pain as would have to deselect everytime you started it
Triumph customers have to be careful with the quick shifter and take note of the urgency of their factory recall. Bought my Speed RS late 2018 and the endless false neutrals from 4th up to 5th was a joke. The week before the lockdown, happened, at low speed (luckily) and instead of it finally finding 5th after another false neutral, it dropped back down to 4th and the whole bike went bang. Blew the entire gearbox to pieces and smashed the big end bearings to death. Bike now needs new full engine and gearbox. I had not long left home and had cold tyres so thankfully not going fast - had I been giving it the beans.... fuck knows what could have happened. Moral of the story... if you get a factory recall... get the work done straight away. Now have no bike until the garage can open again after the virus has fucked off....Fuming. Other than that... it’s my 3rd Triumph and it’s a kick ass bike.

I've had my 955 Triple for 18 years and still love it. I could however be tempted by this reincarnation. Hmmm.
That sounds frigging awesome when you have that side view going on. Wow, I want one!
I have a 2020 RS and it’s my favourite bike I’ve ever ridden. If I could change anything it would be the green graphics but that a pretty minor issue.
Will that matter now we've left the EU?
@@JP-nx9rm it will if Triumph want to sell them in the EU.
Germany, Italy and France have always been big markets for them.
@@michaelhayward7572 dont think they will keep a separate line for the UK then ?
@@JP-nx9rm no.
Thanks for all the top notch reviews brother. Keep them coming
Definite contender if I chop my MT09 in Chops 😉👌🏻
Finally ! pulled the trigger on this one ...gagging to ride.... ex pat(paddy) in Vegas ! proper mileage to come.
One thing I miss about my speed triple R is that sound with the Arrow exhaust when you get up in the rev range
always nice to see a new bike chops but i just am not a fan of the digital dashes at all. if its a hybrid, sure! but not a full digital dash... also, rain is still ride worthy at least but not no foot of snow lol! but i think we both know if you want to be covered for most riding seasons then you are going to have to fork over the cash for those bells and whistles. Sounds great and plenty of get up and giggle juice.
Was looking at sports bikes but at 6ft 4 this is kind of appealing for the comfort .....and that sound!
great review, i just got one and traded my 2015 ZX10r, you are right, its a great all rounder, really nice bike!
That bike is fantastic. Love it
I am still riding an "antique" 2001 955i Speed Triple.
I have a plain black 2016 model much nicer than the naff yellow bits of this model
Good review as always, you can get heated grips as option same as quickshift, have both on mine as well as the small tinted screen :)
Best make the most of these splendid machines, being as Boris has just brought forward their demise by 5 years I can't see many manufacturers spending much on developing new models with the market being killed off in 15 years.
bikes are not included for now
Good review Lamb Chop. The bike sounded great.
thank you for this great video. that's also why i chose the speed triple. i hope i have a lot of fun with it.
Stock pipes sound beastly! after market pipes will sound like a caged dragon
Great video chops👍love the sound of them arrow exhausts👌
Great review as I’ve got the first generation 1050 and obviously the bike is massively improved from mine but I just can’t get my head around the looks.
Yet another great review,
How would you say the GSXS1000 2022 comparison to the 2020 Triumph...very interest to know your thoughts, as I am getting or could be getting the Gsxs depending on your thoughts lol
Great bike and review chops. I get what your saying about that particular colour scheme, each to their own, I'm sure some think it's nice. 👍
id love a tuono after my 3 street triples and 1 daytona but i fell like my license would go bye bye so this is really looking like the next step soon enough
Awesome review chopsie 👏 really enjoyed it 👍🏻
Thanks Adam
Owned a 2012 Speed, great bike but a little cramped in the legs for a taller rider. Was hoping Triumph would replace this 1050 engine with perhaps an increased capacity 150 -160 BHP engine. Still a great looking bike.
Yes I was surprised how sports focused the riding position was, but still found it comfortable
In two years I've bought 2 new bikes..... but now I fancy a go on this, what ever triumph pay you it's not enough chops lol.
If anything, I think the Triumph feels torquer, which probably has something to do with the significantly lighter weight of the bike.
that motorcycle looks so insane! be a while before i got one of these just looking to get the 675 now!
Fabulous as always Mr. Chops!
Entertainment with substance, thanks 007. From Shakespeare’s philosophers to modern day satirists, the clown has always been used to deliver wise commentary with humour, requiring the greatest of skill. You sir, are the bike riding, wheelie throwing clown of motorcycle vloggers.
Love that Bruce thanks buddy 👍👍
Def thinking you like the Tuono alot from that review lol. Nice review however, bit gutted looking at the position. Wanted to avoid weight on my wrists, whole reason I went got a Z1KSX (17).
"I've already turned off the traction control, hahaha"
Ohhh, you're hard
Also don't forget, "shall I turn it back on....nah" 😂😂
Destination Triumph, Please make this happen! 🙈🙈
Sounds quality on point.....great video
Thanks
Think I would go Speed RS for the nicer finish and super smooth engine. Yes Street & Speed comparison to follow when it is dry haha 👍👍
I love this bike!
Nice one Chops 👍
Good looking bike and they don’t seem to age like some bikes. Loaded with decent kit too.
Brilliant chops 👌 love it . is it better than my mt10 thanks from Danny
Hi Mr Chops Sir, mic placement perfect as always, don't she sound nice ? illuminated switch gear why did they not put that on the street triple ? you can keep the keyless ignition yuk? sorry still think the street does it for me in the real world, nice though, ATB Wayne.
Thanks Wayne, yes I'm no fan of keyless either if I'm honest. But at least fuel cap needs a key so you wont be stranded! 😂
Hmmmmmmm, do I go for the 2020 ST RS next, or the Speed? Not in that colour scheme though - it looks a bit gash in the flesh! Hate the fact the baffles need to be cut out too!
Amazing sound, seems like a great motorcycle!
This is my favorite bike. And with this color omg
That soundtrack!
I'm currently stuck between this and an MT10 SP... decisions decisions!
I tried both and went for the triumph 👍
