8:53 As a german i can explain: Classic and Techno are (apparently) the two most popular music genres in Germany. Combine those two and you'll get the Berlin Byways Theme. And it really is different from what most people know, so that may be why it goes so hard.
Tons of famous composers were from Germany too
Is eurodance part of techno
Ludwig Van Beethoven would like a word with you
Not only this, we INVENTED Techno (KRAFTWERK, anyone?)!
Techno? I don't think this is techno, right? Sounds more like electro/rave than techno
I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed more with a list… it’s still cool to see all the maps in this game though
2 minutes in and I disagree with everything 😭
I think I disagreed with EVERYTHING in this list…
@@Kikasusthis is possibly the WORST subjective list I’ve seen in a long time😂
The thing is he doesn't seem to rank it on his opinion completely so I'm not sure what he's going on
The only thing I agree with is toad circuit from 7 at last place.
I guess the reason why N64 Rainbow Road’s remake is so praised is because of how much of a glowup it is in comparison to the original N64 track (now if only there was one extra lap in the remake to not make it feel too short)
Imo this is ironically the only time where shortening a track is actually for the better since the original N64 Rainbow Road being 3 laps to complete took around 6 minutes and with little to no challenge having guard rails everywhere. Removing the guard rails in the remake adds more challenge and now it only takes around a minute and a half to complete the course. I would not mind if they made a second lap although it would still be a bit too long but nevertheless the remake is incredible.
@@Thegamingwizard55 “would still be too long if it was 2 laps” really? I don’t think so, it would only be very slightly longer than Wii Rainbow Road in Wave 6, and I don’t think that track drags on for too long at all
I personally would have zero issues with it only being just one lap if said lap was as long as the original was in MK64 (2 minutes as opposed to 1 minute and 30 seconds), but of course, with the much more interesting general track design of the MK8 version
I agree that shortening the track was overall a great change, but maybe they overdid it just a tad (seriously, it went from being the longest track in the series to being about as short, if not shorter than some SNES tracks, you know it’s bad when SNES Mario Circuit 3 is longer)
@@jomaq9233 I think N64 Rainbow Road is good as it is in MK8DX but yeah it was the one time where a lap reduction actually makes a track better. I could see the track being slightly longer and requiring about 30 more seconds to complete it though I think it should still be one lap instead of three. Most tracks in MK8DX take roughly around 2 minutes to complete so if N64 RR was a bit larger while still taking that much time to complete, then it could look a bit better but even then it's still a massive and fun remake.
@@jomaq9233 I remember that with the new controls, anti-gravity and gliding physics in MK8 back in 2014, they probably tried to start off with a shorter overhaul at first to fit these new mechanics in. I also remembered most tracks in the BCP, nearly 8 years later, now take more than 2 minutes to complete, which is even longer than base MK8DX tracks. Wii RR in the BCP now takes around 3 minutes to complete so even though an additional lap of N64 RR would likely be around 3 minutes, keep in mind that this track was added back in 2014 so the developers likely did not think about making relatively long tracks back then as it was the start of MK8. Here after so long, things have advanced in the BCP so now MK8DX has longer tracks. However, if at the time Nintendo expanded N64 RR by about 30 more seconds, then it would have fit better imo.
@@Thegamingwizard55 I do think I remember a few base game tracks being on the longer side, though (Toad Harbor is apparently the longest base game track)
About N64 Rainbow Road…
I always think that retro tracks should be in direct contention with their previous iterations. If the new track does a lot of things better than the old one, then that’s worth noting, and new N64 Rainbow Road is LEAGUES better than the original.
Plus, this track feels like it was intended to be the final send off of the game as compared to the ultimate final challenge, and I think it plays that role beautifully
I agree that it wouldn’t be great as a nitro track in 8, but that’s an unfair comparison. It was never meant to be a nitro track in 8. It’s an N64 retro track in 8, and it’s a worthy upgrade that does what it’s supposed to beautifully
There’s one thing that the original N64 Rainbow Road does better, and that’s the music. It will forever be in the top three RR themes alongside Wii Rainbow Road (both versions) and the original 3DS Rainbow Road.
@@GatorOne-in7hk It sounds so much better in 8DX though
I feel like the race couldve used 2 laps personally. As it is, it barely feels like a representation of the original, now being one of the shortest laps ever when it used to be the longest. The worst Raindow Road of the bunch for me, the only one I dont insta vote for when it shows as an option online. The race itself is fine, though I still prefer the OG version overall.
I think many remakes, including many tour races which most people rank near the bottom and say coconut mall (which is good, but worse than the original) are overall inferior versions. This video I think sums up this overall feeling, thousands voted and this was reflected overall. It is important this video came out just 2 weeks after Wave 6 hit so many players including myself, had not experienced the new content fully. I would take the info on the most recent 8 raceway additions and their placement with a grain of salt.
th-cam.com/video/mSF_inC5IA4/w-d-xo.html
honestly i just think N64 RR isn’t fun. it has great music and visuals and no longer takes a year to complete (the length was easily the worst thing about the original) but the gameplay itself is extremely bland and feels drawn out, even with the shorter length
@@jos4669 Nah, it has one of the most satisfying turns in the game, right next to Water Park
Dang this is a controversial one for me Nin10doland but at least you took the time to sit through 96 tracks and gave some solid descriptions. I do think you ranked some boring tracks (to me anyway) way higher than others where there was some real interest and polish. It got a lil easier for the last ten and hearing you gush about your fav track was a nice way to end this list!
A funny coincidence that Royal Raceway is at #64!
Coincidence, I think not.
What would’ve been even more funnier is that Mario Kart 64 would be the 64th game in this franchise. And you’d think “Holy smokes!”😂😂
I think for future reference, you should keep your ranking list strictly to you only. I know it can be a little concerning how people will react when you put a lesser popular track like Shroom Ridge in the top 10, or more popular track like Wii Rainbow Road a little lower, but I think that’s what makes watching ranking videos fun, seeing how vastly different or similar other people’s opinions are. This kinda makes it feel like tier list + fan service, rather than tier list based on only yourself
42:07 omg I've played this track like a dozen times and never knew that path existed
Same here. When he said 3 paths, I was like what? Then saw it and my jaw dropped. Mind blown!
@@jonnymankinNintendo showed it in the trailer though.
@@murdermonkey_lol weird. I never noticed in the trailer. But I watched the trailer like maybe once.
3:14 You call it a chaotic mess, ISN’T THAT THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE TRACK?
Oh man. I'll have to think about my favorote tracks in a game as massive as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but off the top of my head, these are some of my favorites: 3DS Rainbow Road, Waluigi Pinball, Snow Land, Mount Wario, Wild Woods, Mushroom Gorge, DK Mountain, Ninja Hideaway, Yoshi's Island, Squeaky Clean Sprint, Bowser's Castle, Wii Rainbow Road, Boo Lake, Toad Harbor, Sunshine Airport, Super Bell Subway, Hyrule Circuit, SNES Bowser Castle 3, Thwomp Ruins, Mario Kart Stadium, Daisy Cruiser, Waluigi Stadium, Yoshi Circuit, Twisted Mansion, Cloudtop Cruise, Music Park, Electrodrome, Yoshi Valley, Dolphin Shoals, DK Jungle, SNES Rainbow Road, Merry Mountain, Peach Gardens, Cheese Land, Ribbon Road, Kalimari Desert, Athens Dash, Singapore Speedway, Vancouver Velocity, Moonview Highway, Royal Raceway, N64 Rainbow Road.
Those tracks are my favorites in such a stacked line-up. Not in any specific order.
Snow land
Mario kart stadium
Are you ok?
@@karenbailey-pb3ly Snow Land is my favorite Super Circuit remake ever. It is wonderful. Mario Kart Stadium is always so much fun online.
Fair enough
Thank you for making this Landon! Enjoyed watching all of it! 🔥🔥👊
I agree. Baby Park is a chaotic mess. Love it!
Great video. I'm very happy to see Mount Wario at number 1, that track has a little bit of everything in it.
A lot of the tracks that were rated lower, were the more simple tracks, and while I don't necessarily disagree with those tracks being ranked as such, those tend to be the most fun and gives the most intense races when playing with more casual players, while the most complicated courses (such as the tour city tracks) can be confusing for them and makes those races less competitive.
The only course I necessarily disagree with the placement of is Animal Crossing, as while being a great way to honour it's series, I always found the course to just not feel fun to drive on, and it's in my personal bottom three.
Still mad we didn't got Shy Guy Bazaar instead of Toad's Circuit
Agreed. Even if Shy Guy Bazaar would have wave 1 graphics... It would still be really fun.
They also didn't add Luigi Raceway Moo Moo Farm or even Wario Stadium from Mario Kart 64.
Toad circuit isn't bad but it's a bit simple, the bad tracks are the ones from the base game
@@hyoshi3129the base game was 10000000000000000000000000000000 times better than the bcp
@@ludwigdudeiscool I disagree the base game has very realistic graphics I prefer less realistic graphics. and the buster curse pass clues are more fun
There have been so many of these lists in the last few days. Also as a Canadian, thank you for the Vancouver love.
I'm glad you love Vancouver Velocity. It's one of my favorite city tracks as well.
I wish we got the Double Dash version of Bowsers Castle so atleast 1 of that games Special Cup tracks would be in the game
yessss I was waiting for thisss
Sky Garden may be different, but it's still fun. I'm glad to see you give it some love.
It feels like I’m one of the only people who loves Sky-High Sundae. Not only is it a beautiful course, but the constant tricks and jumps make it feel almost exhilarating. I straight up called it “delightful” after my first run of it.
I always see people rank it low, it's kind of sad considering that it's my favorite track as well
@@LazyHoeWithLore Yay, we’re not alone in the universe!
I’m planning on getting Mariokart 8 Deluxe on switch this Christmas, how does the dlc work, can you buy it on the game? Also what would it all cost for all the dlc?
I personally think the new Mario circuit is one of the best tracks in the game. How they managed to make a track where you stick underneath it is mindboggling and one of the best uses of the antigravity this game has to offer.
for some reason dragon driftway has always been my favourite track since getting MK8 it just seems fast pace and aesthetically beautiful
Thx for putting Vancouver velocity at 15th 35:35 it’s my fav track and very underated
I love Rosalina's Ice World, 3DS Rainbow Road, Wii Rainbow Road, Yoshi's Island, Squeaky Clean Sprint, Rock Rock Mountain, and Maple Treeway.
Seeing this makes me wonder. If you could pick one track (plus the surrounding area) to serve as a world in a game like Super Mario Odyssey, which one would it be? I am leaning toward Ribbon Road, because exploring that whole room would be fun, but I would also really like to climb around in one of the giant trees ...
Mount wario has been my favourite track for ages nice to see it get recognised
Toad Circuit at 96 I understand but HOW do you put Rock Rock Mountain at 49 and Merry Mountain at 75? Basically the same track but Merry Mountain has a theme going on while Rock Rock is just... existing
Still disappointed we didn't get a double dash rainbow road.
I love excite bike it is so good and so fun to play on the most underrated track in the game and maybe the whole franchise
Rosalina’s Ice World fans here
v
Did you just... put SNES Rainbow Road... below SNES Mario Circuit 3
Yoshi’s Valley is my favourite track and apart from this one and Excitebike which is the most underrated track of mariokart imo, I completely agree with the rankings!
I 100% don’t agree with most of this list but I appreciate the effort you put in making this
This is the video I’ve been waiting for, Thank you so much for making it, it means a lot!😉😁
hot take but i think wild woods is a better version of maple treeway
Lava hot take
The opinion I probably agree with the least is Boo Lake. I like this track more than most, but I actually have it 76 spots higher at #17!
14:44 are we gonna talk about how he called this track a “nighttime Chrstmassy track at night”. I think the course takes place at night
He also said it had penguins when it literally doesn't
I don‘t need every track to be extremely exciting. I love me some regular circuit tracks, so I adore the variety in this game, even if I miss some masterpieces like DS Airship Fortress!
Good to see sunset wilds not at the bottom! I feel like it gets way too much hate
I really wish they took some time to improve the visuals of booster tracks because some of them are jarring compared to base game. But some are amazing, like riverside park and the rainbowroads
This list is a hate crime
3:29 I think that baby park is one of the few tracks that is ACTUALLY INSPIRED BY A REAL RACETRACK. It’s so clearly Martinsville speedway from nascar. Same shape, same type of chaotic vibe.
I love them all and i love your content looking forward to more ❤
Why oes no onlike the Rainbow Roads? But they like thew Wii one. I despise the WIi one...What am I missing?
I can kinda agree with the sentiment of Baby park. You either love it or, in his case, really hate the 7 laps of unadulterated chaos, there’s no in between.
Baby Park is much much better on the GameCube. Mainly because of the giant weapons and the chaos that can be created in multiplayer. 8's version feels a bit cut rate.
Yes, Mario Kart Stadium is amazing! Thank you!
NO IT IS SO BOORING! BOTTOM OF THE BARREL TRACK.
@@bitstimandwesker8896 it's the best first track in Mario Kart history.
@@ade1174 Wow their really breaking some ground with that track. When it is even better than Luigi circuit from wii and figure 8 circuit was ds you know it’s a good track. Seriously though it’s a good starter track but imo Luigi circuit from dd is a bit better.
I wholeheartedly agree. This is by far the best Mario game ever. I so hope they bring back Toad's Factory, Defino Square, Dry dry Dessert, and Airship Fortess in the next Mario kart game.
Nice vid, but Mario Circit 3 should be waaay lower
Athens Dash is one of the best city tracks in my opinion
If the clock in Squeaky Clean Sprint could show the actual time of your Nintendo Switch system, that would be pretty cool.
I really can’t say no good things about Merry Mountain. I think they did a fantastic job. It pains my heart to put it low on the scale too because I love how beautiful it looks. I am a big Christmas/snow-themed kid. And the music is just cherry on the top. Oh! And the way they changed the cycle in GCN Sherbet Land did them justice. I love how they made it a December based track with an aurora filled night full of schmaltz and snow. I think to go back to the original MK64, Frappe Snowland would take place in December too because of the atmosphere they had. And I personally am a fanatic of Canada, so I think having a course in Vancouver is a great choice. I just wish Vancouver Velocity did more but other than that, I love how wintery it is, and the ice skating rink section is great. Oh! And prior to the randomization of the courses in the third wave with Merry Mountain being the last one, I can say they did a great job putting Vancouver Velocity as the last course in the wave 5 trailer, and of course, the last track in the Cherry cup too.
The theme song never gets old
Some of my favourite tracks from MK8 Deluxe would have to be Tick Tock Clock, Mount Wario, Wii Rainbow Road and Waluigi Pinball. Those were amazing!
I NEED TO KNOW what you were even thinking when you put snes mario circuit 3 at #73
Finally someone gives the city tracks the love they deserve
City tracks are so underrated even in his list
Excite bike is the single most underrated track in this entire game
Nah, that belongs to sky high sundae.
Bruh, excite bike arena is the worst track and sky hig sundae the best one
I politely disagree
And there you guys go proving me right, in case you forgot the definition of underrated
What's underrated about it tho? I get some people get fun out of tricking but that's all the course has, once you fall back it's really hard to get back up to a good spot. It's definitely not the worst course, but eh- I'd prefer to play Toad Circuit than this
I think the main ones that stand out that I disagree with are DS Mario Circuit, Sky Garden, Sunset Wilds, Waluigi Stadium, and GBA Mario Circuit which I would have put at least 30 spots lower than you did. But great list overall :)
Rosalina's Ice World is probably the closest to Kirby we get from the theme and the layout being most similar to Kirby Star Allies. That's the only reason I enjoy it at all. It's to icy to drive on with actual players I find.
This will suffice until Schaffrillas uploads his video
No one can escape from that giant crab from moana.
I agreed with you on toad circut and mount wario, nothing else
Sunset Wilds' sunset was removed due to the game's lighting engine
I respect a big chunk of this list and feel very similar about many tracks, but Big Blue outside that low makes no sense. It´s just way too fun to not have it at least in the Top 5, and seeing it under the mid and boring Kalimari Desert was actually concerning. Great video tho!
Electrodrome felt way too low too. It is like in the 40s, while its a top 15 track for me.
Obviously different people have different opinions, but I just genuinely don't understand his criticisms of Big Blue... especially the whole "fake speed" argument. Makes me think he accidentally forgot to play it at any speed higher than 50cc.
London Loop at 87: "it's a road with nothing going on here"
Wii Rainbow Road at 14:
I dont know about anyone else, but the worst in my own opinion is Tokyo Blur. Its so- boring and lasts forever. Its the only track that genuinely makes me sad when its selected
My first Mario kart game was Mario kart 7 so I’m bias for the tracks
I love the city tracks because geography is so cool
It’s so funny to me that ALL of the videos I’ve watched have had Toad Circuit from 7 as their last place. It’s so true.
Personally I would have had music park in the top 5 instead of Squeaky clean Sprint but other than that I completely agree with your top 5
Finally someone who agrees with my Excite Bike Arena take. I love the idea, the layout changes are cool but I hardly never notice them, absolutely hate racing on it.
Excitebike Arena is just a longer version of GCN Baby Park.
Mario circuit over dragon dragon driftway is criminal
Can you rank them by difficulty as well??
#1:
Wii rainbow road
#2:
Wii maple treeway
…
#96:
3ds Toad circuit
You should rank every track based on music
Tokyo Blur would definitely be S tier music wise
God i knew it was in shambles when BOO LAKE (a top 30 map) is 4th last..
Fun watch. For me ... this list would be completely different if I was factoring in playing multiplayer.
The thing about New York minute is that there’s a sign saying DK has the best musical I mean who hasn’t heard his rap by now?
‘’I dont think theres a single person on earth that hates maple treeway’’ i have left the chat
This video is so funny. “I hate when you drive cars on roads”
I bet this video will get over 250k views by end of November
Opinion on baby park
Mine: but it’s fun
Yours: how can it possibly fun playing with one of those over double lap item baggers
Still pissed Toad Circuit got in over Toads Factory or Warios Shipyard
L take on Baby Park, Bowser Castle 3, and Rosalina's Ice World. Wonderful video none the less.
there were so many other L takes😂
Ice world sucks imo
awesome that royal raceway was #64! because i looooove royal raceway from mario kart 64!
“Bust out the top of the mall” 42:30 lolll😂
What is actually funny about that?
Me sitting here waiting for Paris promenade to come up the whole video
Yoshi circuit at 10💀💀💀
(Also above Wii and 3ds rainbow road what?)
I love the layout, still a boring circuit.
Mount Wario is by far my favorite too!
personally i love baby park bc ultra mini turbos can get you all the way to the end allowing you to mini turbo back to the side so you actually go very fast :)
Same
I feel like Wii RR should have been put a tiny bit lower, since it’s so confined. It feels less like a true rainbow road, since a rainbow road is supposed to mostly be unrailed.
6:09 that’s the point of yoshys valley also it is a amazing track
Seeing you rank Athens Dash so low hurts me. There is so much variety with the ruins, swoopers, and boulders.
Finally, it’s refreshing to see New York Minute respect. I really do like the track quite a bit, and I don’t understand when people try to say it doesn’t represent NY well because it really does. I think people try to hinge on the less favorable ideas of what NY is when in reality the city is so remarkably culturally diverse and interesting. Yes there are rats, and there are some.. interesting people. But, honestly, that’s everywhere. Let’s talk about the more interesting aspects of NY Culture instead; the gigantic art scene all around the city areas, including galleries, pop-shops, graffiti art, and some of the most well known art museums in the world. The history of music in the city, such as jazz and hiphop. The vast cultural histories from all over the world coming together, as NYC is one of the biggest cultural melting pots in history. NYC isn’t just some glorified slum; it’s incredibly human
I find it so interesting how people have such differing opinions. LA Laps and Wario stadium are bottom 10 for me, both 3DS and Wii are top 5 and I think that Vancouver Velocity is criminally high, being put netween Mushroom Gorge and Wii RR. This being said, I loved this video as it was so refreshing to see such a different list.
I agree with vancouver velocity
The amount of times he says “nothing special” or “not a lot going on” 😂
You mentioned a "DS Luigi's Mansion" but there's no such track. Did you perhaps mean DS Boston Building?
I meant how i wanted Luigi’s mansion from the ds
@@Nin10dolandthere is no such track. You are probably talking about DS boston building
Zoo Wee Mama
Okay, I'm sure I'm super biased because Big Blue is like a Top 3 track for me, but I genuinely don't understand your criticisms for the track. The whole "fake speed" argument feels like complete gibberish... you are constantly hitting boost pads, so that makes it... not fast? And as for the "driving straight" and being able to make "your own shortcuts", that's the reason why this track is so interesting. I get it if you don't care a ton for the course, and ranking 34 out of 96 is still respectable, but it genuinely feels to me like you just didn't like the course and tried to come up with whatever reason you could to defend yourself.
Aside from that, I'm glad to see someone else rank Sunshine Airport so high. Definitely an under-rated course imo.
I keep getting lost when going around the fountain in daisy circuit because the path you are supposed to take is too dark
skill issue
Great video.👍
N64 rainbow road is my favourite track is looks incredible😢
