I'm not a flight attendant but I do work for an airline so I travel quite a lot too. I agree with most of the points you make but travel cubes are definitely the way to go for me. I've managed to save more space because of it, as long as you still roll your clothes and pack it tight. It's pretty good at compressing your clothes and keep it organized at the same time. Plus, it also works as a laundry bag and you can put your loose items in it (like your tubs, chargers, etc) so you don't have to dig through your luggage if it doesn't have a ton of pockets. I managed to fit 4-5 days worth of clothes in a 17" carry-on suitcase with the same tips Becca provided in this video.

I know just about everyone depends on their cellphone for GPS etc, but when you're in an unfamiliar place you should depend on a regular paper map. It can save your life. Your cellphone can be stolen, accidentally break or get lost but you'll always have your map and nobody will steal it.

I lost my paper map when traveling in Namibia. Luckily I was able to go into a hotel I passed, pick up an alternative and they helped me locate my hotel on the replacement map.

I am learning a lot from your videos! My experience with packing cubes has been great. They may or may not save space, but what I like is that I can just pull out one or two as needed and set them on the bed, etc, then close my suitcase. I also like that every type of clothing has it's own pouch. Keeps my suitcase neat and organized.

You had me until you knocked the packing cubes. Girl, if you haven't used them you don't understand that SOMEHOW they save space. Not even the compression kind, but all of them. Another thing, they are great to then put your dirty laundry in after!

Also, when you pack for the whole family and not just for yourself, they are awesome to divide each person's clothes etc. You can even color code, which makes it even easier!

Also, you don't have to put your clothes in hotel drawers. Place the packing cubes in the drawer and your clothes never have to touch the inside of drawer.

My travel converter is a brand called Saunorch, made in China. Model #SL-199-4u. It has European, Asian/Australian , UK, and US adaptors plus 4 sub ports. I used it a year ago on a European trip, and take it with me on domestic trips. I leave for NYC on Tuesday and it's packed! I saw the add on You Tube.

You gotta do a video of 'Luggage Tracking Tags' since the biggest issue airports are dealing with is lost luggage. I love watching these kind of videos. It's inspiring and I get to discover new things for travel. I love the Peak Design pouch I can use this for my make up and toiletries. One recommendation from me is bringing your own travel sheet. I use the Brave Era Silk travel sheet. It's a life saver especially when I am not sure on the integrity of the sheets I sleep on and also it protects me from bed bugs and my skin loves it. It's washable and compact and I love that. Thanks for the recommendations! and happy travels!

For SD cards, I like the credit card sized cards with slots on the inside. Two pieces that lock together. They have spaces for regular SD and micro SD. And for a few SIM cards. Mine says Lynca storage card case on the front. For many SD cards there are small «booklets» or storage cases that can’t be bent. I like storing the card in a zipped leather card case.

Thank you for the links. Very helpful video. Starting a travel gadget list, websites for airfare list, websites for hotels list, website for convenience travel tips, budget, global travel, and shopping while traveling ( what currency to bring, travelers checks worth it, other countries have shopping malls or shop downtown, shop by universities, best tourist shops) , are all things I look for on TH-cam. Lots of us retired bucket list people out there (most of my relatives). Best of luck, nicely shot and linked!

Thank you for your suggestions! I love packing cubes ! They are not wasted space, they allow more space! They keep me organized, yes and more than that they keep clothes , and various items organized. Added pluses are you can pack one for easy take out for a one nighter without lugging your whole suitcase in...I do this for road travel. On an International flight you can pack one with all you are going to need and use on the flight i( iPad, earbuds, slippers, inflatable neck roll, etc. ) and keep it in your overhead carry on...take it out after on plane and ready for take off. Also, I will leave my items in the packing cubes when using hotel drawers...keeps me organized and you never know what has been in that drawer previously. How about revisiting packing pouches?! Also, if you don't have enough packing cubes, plastic bag work. .. just press all the air out of them before you pack. (With your hands, not a vacuum) Less expensive too. ❤️

Loved this summary of travel items, and picked up a couple new ideas! Thanks! ... but I have question-- I noticed the travelpro you linked to doesn't have four casters. I find 4 casters make it easy to push the case sideways down the narrow path towards your seat, super easy when standing in security lines, or rushing along concourses when a two-wheel case can tip. Do you find this case travels easily enough you don't miss the option to push it while upright?? and have you ever used a good quality four-caster case for a comparison??

Becca, I have a couple of the items that you listed, especially the Anker charger. I also have to comment about packing cubes- we are a family of 5 and try to keep the luggage count to a minimum. We did a trip from NY to Hawaii on carry-ons only and the packing cubes really helped out- we only took 4 days worth of clothes for an 11 day trip but had access to laundry services. It is a great way to keep the clean and dirty separate when changing location. The trip this year was to SC and we skipped the multicarry-on because we a) didn't have to pay bag fees and b) were lugging golf clubs too. Everyone had 3 packing cubes and they all got distributed between the golf bags and luggage so everyone had clothes in case a bag got lost (and of course everyone had 1 more in a single carry-on in case the unimaginable happened!). I LOVE them.

I am so happy I came a cross this video, I am definitely going to look into a travel pro luggage when I travel. I would like to see how much clothes I can fit in the travel pro, not sure if that is something that you can show. Do you have suggestions on safe hotel places to stay at in every location you have been to. Thanks, can't wait to see what else is to come.

Do you purchase the hooks separately for the Travelpro bags or do they come with the set? I've always wanted to check them out, they do seem like great bags and very affordable.

They come with the bags depending on which back you get! They really are so great... I'm not even sponsored by them. They just have good stuff!

thanks for the tips. btw for power banks , I suggest getting fast charging ports (15w or more), it will save you time in charging on the fly.

One more idea that I use all the time. I use the little screw-top contact lens cases for small amounts of creams etc. - amazing how much will fit in those 2 little sections - they do not leak and can be used for liquid as well as cream/ointment type products.
Right now I am needing to use a gel for pain in my back - amazingly I use less than half of the amount in one side of the contact lens case for my whole mid-back - so easy, fits in all purses - just can refill when I am at home so carry this every day in my purse or even pocket of pants.

Hey, what do you think about two-wheeled suitcases vs spinners? I want a two-wheeled suitcase because I don't trust the teeny wheels on the spinner ones, and I've heard they don't work well on anything except extremely flat, smooth surfaces (like airport terminals), and I'll be going over cobblestones and grass and stuff. They're so hard to find, though - everything seems to be spinners. What's so great about spinners?

    Hi Becca!
I found your information very helpful. I will be taking a cruise in a few months and I have questions about taking a carryon and possibly a backpack. How do I pack my clothes for a 7day cruise and do I have to pay for a carry-on and backpack?

    • @BeccaIrene
      @BeccaIrene  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi there!! Thanks for your comment :) While I am more savvy when it comes to air travel, I do know that cruises have their own weight limit and restrictions when it comes to luggage! My advice would be to go on your specific cruise liners website and look up the luggage information. Then start packing accordingly :)

Do you have any recommendations for a travel pillow? My travel pillows have been pretty ineffective on my last couple of flights. The just don’t hit the back of the seat at a supportive angle or something. I’ve about given up on them.

The Kopack Anti-Theft Backpack is AMAZING!!! I replaced my briefcase with it. When you wear it, no one can get it. Has a built in rain shield. place to put a battery backup with external plug. It is amazing! They have two sizes the large and the smaller. I got the large initially but it is to big for my frame so I switched to the small and still tons of room and secure.

I find the 'clip on' thing to attach the handbag to the rollerblade quite useful. Could you tell me what is it and if I can get that separately?
