I went on a 9 days trip and having one single backpack was amazing. I even figured I’d be better off with less items. I’ll repeat next month when I go out traveling. It’s so convenient, not attachments. The best part was leaving the hotel room without thinking where to leave my bags in the meantime, it was so liberating to just get up get ready and leave the room.
Way to go! Thats so freeing! We hope the trip went well! 😃. We just released a video on Carry-on only packing for longer trips, but there is still nothing like the freedom on a one-bag setup!

We are light packers as well. I like going to thrift stores and buy cheap clothes for trips. That way if I decide I don't want to bring them back and use the space for something else, I can without hurting my pocket too much.

On my last flight we were allowed one personal item. They were checking passengers for cross body bags and fanny packs. They asked passengers open their jackets if they saw one, they had to put them in their personal item bag.

This is NOT an ad. I can also vouch for the Nomad Lane Bento bag. It is a Mary Poppins bag, super strong and very elegant looking. It took everything I threw at it, and it weighed 23.5 pounds, but it held what I needed. It is not a backpack, but a duffle. Unfortunately, it is only 24 liters. I hope they make a 30 liter one.
Amazon has bags very, very similar to the Bento bag for $20-$30. They are slightly different depending on use.

Light weight and packable and multi use is the key! I didnt catch the brand of Suit jacket and slacks you used. Ive been searching for something that is light weight, and wrinkle free/resistant. Back in the day (late 80s to mid 2000s) I used to pack by the day for the whole family but had to use large zip lock bags. I never took more than a large suitcase on road trips and at the time I had 8 kids (9 now).

We did carry on for 2 weeks. I could not image going personal item! Good for you! My obstacle is that I must pack comfy warm clothes and that takes up a bunch of space.
It definitely was quite the challenge!! Would have definitely loved a few more comfy sweaters and clean socks 😂
Not really sure that those are personal items by the definition - these are carryon bags. You guys got lucky. I’ve been called out in Asia and South America for using a 30L bag.
Well done! I am off to Santorini for two weeks in October and you have given me a challenge to be more minimal. I could have used a good rain jacket while at Machu Picchu as It started pouring while standing at the top of that big mountain you see in the background. I walked back down very carefully. I got some tricks that I never thought of from your video (I'm 76) and I thank you for that. I just purchased a small Bluetooth transmitter to solve the need for wired ear buds on a plane. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Thanks for the reply, there are many Vloggers who never reply to anyone and I find that very rude! I just returned from a 3 day train & flight trip, BUT I could only use a Personal bag with smaller dimensions than the ones you used in this video as it was a budget airline - they also made everyone verify their bags before boarding using the metal frames (it was entertaining watching people try and force their oversized bags into them). It was an interesting challenge for me and I discovered that I could have left some of my items at home.@@SharingtheRoad

I like your cubes, however, I have a strong suggestion. It would be helpful to have mesh/see through on an side to see what is inside. Although they are by days...what if Monday is hot, and you really need Thursdays cooler clothing for Monday, and Thursday is colder, and now you need Saturday's warmer clothes. It would be great to see what is inside, incase you need to swap days. I have enjoyed watching your videos and have shared with family prior to our south America trip as well. Thanks. Can you confirm the specs on this? Because for personal item it is 18 x 14 x 8, and this is larger than this?
Bluetooth transmitters that are basically just a dongle for 3.5mm headphone jacks work pretty well on planes.

What do you use as a daypack during your travels?
Hi! We actually use two different day-packs, one is more structured (but with the zipper on the inside to be theft-resistant, and the other is a collapsable daypack that folds down to next-to-nothing. We actually just released an updated packing video (for our Carry-On setup) where we walk through these day-packs in greater detail! Feel free to check them out if you're interested!
One thing I cannot understand...there is a weight restriction of even carry on luggage. At many places, it is 7 kgs. How come your packs, with so many things, were less or equal to 7 kgs (if that was the limit) ? Either the airlines did not check, or you had a personal luggage(s) as well. Can you throw any light on this?

Im on 19 Mins, I tried The capsule warderobe on a bookshelf.
Definitely doable when you are going to place with a hot climate, plus you won’t loose your luggage . Unless the flight is full and they make you check it in and then loose your bag 🥴
