    I'm a fan of packing light and there are some great tips. Others have commented on weight limits, and I have to say that is the most difficult part. Here in Australia ALL airlines have a strict weight limit of 7 kilograms (15.4 lbs) of carry-on luggage per person. As you are boarding, you will likely have your bag weighed, and they will ask you to surrender it to be checked in below. Make sure you have a small carry bag/satchel to keep the things you need to take out and carry on board with you (ID documents, cards, books, devices etc.). Size matters, but so does weight.
    Some budget airlines let you prepurchase an additional 7 kilos. Don't wait to do it at the airport as it will cost dearly. Laundromats are fun to visit while travelling. You will meet real people. Plan a laundry day every 10 days or so, and you will manage fine with less clothing. Enjoy it all!

      Man 7Kg is low. I've struggled with 10Kg I think from a German airline and 15Kg seems to be the norm for UK airlines. My general amount is 10-12Kg. But they don't usually weigh it if it looks under. Australian airport staff are not hard core though. Israeli airport staff even more so. They scan your carry on and manually sift through it.

Somtimes they are waiting for you at the bottom of the escalator with a scale! On another occasion I had been sitting well away from the gate minding my own business and had a bubbly and smily Jetstar staff member whiz over with a luggage scale on wheels to weigh my bag,

    This video was awesome. I haven’t traveled much but my favorite thing is using only a carry on bag because it saves you so much time. When it went to DR, I took a carry on suitcase (researched JetBlue thoroughly for requirements), a backpack that carried other things, and a Fanny pack that carried my passport, phone, etc. to have on hand. My biggest mistake was having the backpack not double as a beach bag. It was too bulky so I ended up bringing a smaller canvas bag in my backpack. The ski mask you had can come in handy if you’ll be doing activities that involves dust/dirt as well!

One “con” was in the case of true emergency it may take too much time to get it off. One “pro” of the rubber stopper was that it can just be kicked away. For hair, I can also recommend cleansing conditioner. This stuff works well if you are in places with less than stellar water pressure as it is easier to rinse out of the hair than shampoo. I have waist length hair, shampoo and I have a contentious relationship on the road...
    For jewelry, I've learned to take minimal. Earrings, one pair two-tone dangle, one pair each silver and gold stud. I don't take rings as your fingers tend to swell when travelling. I might pack a two-tone chain if I think I'll be going to a fancy place. This fit in a small changepurse I kept with my hair items.

    Spikey ball is great for tight shoulders and to relieve your sore muscles if you climb hills or carry packs for a while.

    A lot of smaller airlines in Australia were weighing cabin bags which included any handbags and laptops and can only now weigh 7kg

    • @thepepemia
      @thepepemia ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and when travelling different airlines have different weight and size restrictions. So these bags would be too big and heavy . In Thailand it’s 5kg for carry on luggage and several long distance airlines .

    • @siobhanduncan2156
      @siobhanduncan2156 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Lots of different weights and sizes for cabin luggage to be stored in the overhead locker and under the seat in front of you depending on airlines with some budget airlines charging for cabin luggage in Europe. All the videos I've seen so far produced by American packing carry on, their bags are checked into hold luggage.

    My husband, who has serious back problems, is planing a 6 week trip to europe with a buddy and he wants to only handle his camera bag and a carry on bag. Until I saw your video I thought it couldn't be done. Hey, if you guys can do 6 months with a carry on 6 weeks now seems like a piece of cake! Hopefully my husband doesn't see this post cuz I'm going to take the credit for all your practical, realistic advice. LOL Can't wait to hear what you are up to next!

      @@joannbanks9963 It was very warm when we were there, but I did take a rain coat and sweater which worked well for when we were up in the mountains, because it was still cold and snowy there!

      When I was in Alaska several years ago (during July), I took a thin fleece zip up jacket, a compressible down vest, and a hooded rain coat that would layer over any combination of those items. Worked out perfectly for all of the weather conditions. (Oh, and a large-brimmed hat!)

    I also have a cute tiny folding hair dryer with a small diffuser. I love it but depending on where I'm traveling, I'll probably leave it at home. I will say that the dryer came in handy more in India. Most of our hotels did not have a hairdryer. It rained the whole day we were at the Taj Mahal and I used it to dry my shoes...lol. It wasn't needed on our Cambodia, Vietnam trip because there were hair dryers at all of the places we stayed.

    Compressable down jacket sounds very wise! I am surprised at the amount of clothes that you take. We also only take carry on. Everything, even my backpack of items for the plane ride, must fit into my Rick Steves wheelie carry on. When i land at my destination airport i put everything in my wheelie so i only have my wheelie to watch over on the busy metro ride to our accomadations.
    We wash our undergaments (underwear and socks) out in the sink each night cutting down on the number of items that we need to bring. For our 4 week trip i brought 3 pair of wool socks, 1 bra and 4 underwear.
    I carried a Daiso shopping bag in my purse which i used every day.

    Being smaller helps too. The larger you are the larger your clothes and the more room they take up in your bag. Love the parka the packs into what looks like a neck pillow.

    I have lived and traveled around the world with a carry-on. I travel ultralight, half of what is presented for men is this video. A packing trick I learned while I was in the military.. One can easily and cheaply often buy things needed in foreign markets and street vendors. I usually keep spare room in my carry-on for newly needed purchased items.

      Your approach is obviously great for many travelers, but I think (?) it's different if you're touring and not staying long in any one place. Recently in London we spent a few hours searching for a knee brace we thought would be fairly easy to find, and didn't find it because I need a small size. We wished we had brought one "just in case," so we could have spent more time exploring interesting sights. When I think back over my travels in the past year, I'm reluctant to spend my limited time trying to find something I could have brought from home. Obviously that involves tough judgment calls to avoid having to check a bag, because all the little things that "don't take much space" do add up!

    Didn't see the link for the suitcase, but that's not a Carry-on pro, the pro got the front sleeve for electronics. That looks like a Carry-on Plus if im wrong, which might be too big for international carry-on. Great video keep up the good work

    A lot of airlines only allow 7kg carry on , and that includes your personal item ,....I have seen them weigh carry on bags at the gate , so check with your airline , its not always the size of the carry on

    Some good suggestions here; however, I'm Australian and airlines have a 7.5 kg carry-on allowance here.
    I travel to Bali often. My next trip, I will take a suitcase full of things I don't need in Australia, to add to the Bali suitcase that I leave over there.
    For the second and third trips to Bali this year, I plan on travelling carry-on only. Carry-on will include my laptop, travel essentials, charging cords etc. The things I need to take over and bring back home again to use.

    I was planning to buy two Large suitcases, for the trip to Ireland. But then I saw a video from you and I like, oh duh. But I'm an author and I don't want to leave my books behind.
    So I'll have to ship them via DHL Express to the Hotel. Because this is a permanent trip to Ireland. Work related.

    Hi love your videos. I downloaded your packing list and on the Women's clothing side there seem to be a couple of items left off. 1. a pair of jeans/long pants 2.swimsuit/sun protection top. No need to pack a hairdryer either as the majority of hotels have them in the rooms. Leave the straightener at home! Treat yourself to a blow dry at the local salon

    OMG!!! I can't. believe it. When I saw Allie stuff's, I was wondering how she could fit all of that? I practically will fit those things into my checked bag. Wow, it's eye-opening that you can fit lots of stuff in carry-on luggage? Thank you for your video, I clicked your video because I was curious about how to better pack your carry-on with lots of stuff. I always think that carry-on can't fit anything that much. They are just too small. Wow, you guys have proven me wrong! I'm going to try it for my next trip.

    Ok. So get you on the 3 pairs of shoes for women, great choices for the climate your were going to.
    3 pairs in Ireland in late Autumn through winter?
    Black chunky heeled boots on the plane. Nice waterproof PV lug soled chelsea boots and black Skechers trainers in the carry on. Fill them up with socks and underwear and an extra scarf or gloves.
    Love my Birks and flips, just don't suit all situations.
    I love and agree with what y'all said.
    You gave to take the info and make it your own. 😊❤😊
