Yes one of the Clan of MacLachlans who have had their name spelt so many ways. How ever, it gives a clue as to where they came from- DENMARK!! Thay then to Scotland and eventually became Christian and became peaceful. And many of the them became MUSICAL!! Love from Cynthia Allen-McLaglen
Beautiful tribute from John McLaughlin to Beck after he passed away. 'Jeff is the Greatest!! Love you forever.' That's really heartfelt from one magnificent musician to another.
@@oupahens9219 You don't know what you are talking about. John can play over changes upside down and backwards. My only complaint is he tends to take the same approach every solo: blasting up and down single note phrases at break neck speed. Jeff tends to do more tonal poetry and textural stuff. He was a master of that. John could do that pretty well on a Strat, but Jeff could not play over changes like John could. John is a college-trained musician, with knowledge of and ability with advanced theory, as well as being a uniquely talented artist. Jeff was a brilliant autodidact. Both, great artists.
John McLaughlin can improvise at incredible speed over any jazz chord changes but when he plays very fast, he often doesn't finish his phrases very cleanly. Jeff is more limited technically (often relies on the pentatonic scale) but overall I find him more musical. I believe it is equally difficult to play interesting musical phrases at slower speed.
I remember asking John for guitar lessons after a concert with Ronnie Scott and Pete Brown(poet)at Borough Road College in Isleworth when I was a student there, would have been around 1970. I thought he was amazing but he said that he didn't know enough to give lessons on the guitar.Who would have thought that 24 years later I would be working with Jeff Beck in my studio(Parkgatestudio near Battle, E Sussex)recording music for a Billy Friedkins(The Exorcist) film with him, Pino Palladino and Stewart Copeland. Funny ol' world. Beck one of the true greats and I've been listening to multiple recordings and live performances with tears in my eyes all week.
John the greatest & most versatile guitarist of all times. I have been listening to him for more than 40 years of my life. Thank you for giving me so much happiness.

For all fans of both John and Jeff, give another listen to "Electric Guitarist." 1976, a solo album by McLaughlin, it incorporated unprecedented performances by a plethora of geniuses, maybe nowhere more evident than on "Are You The One," an awesome romp by John and Jack Bruce and Tony Williams. Two of my favorite players. Didn't know they had done this. Beck, of course, never disappoints. What gets me about Mclaughlin, though, is how he seems comfortable playing in any style with anybody. Santana and Beck or Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola, he seems to have no limits.
Most of the people criticizing him haven't heard the range he can play. You sort of have to, to invent three genres of music. I like his linear stuff better that the deep chords, but he's not following any dictates but his own. Except when Miles told him what to do. And when he worked his way through the Indian ragas. Beck always rose to the occasion when playing with another guitarist. McLaughlin was his favorite guitarist and is easy to understand why; he challenged, push and complemented Beck.
Two of my very favorite guitar players, two completely different styles but at the same time, they seem to have total respect for each other. This was very, very cool to watch!!!!!
Big performance of the rhythm section too ! Both drummer and bass player are doing a fanctastic job there switching multiple times from jazz to blues to rock without a glitch. Top professionals !

I saw Beck smoke Clapton and Page years ago and also jam with Stevie Ray in one of the best guitar duels I've ever seen. Joe Pass was a genius on guitar - but also a very narrow-minded crank. He hated Hendrix but did admit after hearing JML's Extrapolation album that at least John "really knows how to play jazz guitar."

ベックとマクラフリンのDjangoのライブ映像が見れるなんて幸せすぎる♫ しかもマクラフリンはベックのLIVEのゲストで来てくれたんだな、いや〜貴重な動画をアップして頂き感謝です!!
Ah, to have been there! Epic duo.
I’ve never seen Jeff so animated playing live as he is here. I bet he was juiced playing with McLaughlin.
I’m with John.
Beck is the best! The legend!
