I'll be honest, I hadn't listened to Jeff Beck in 30+ years. What a shock. When I discovered him it was lp's and record players. Having access to video is so amazing. I'm very ill and this video made my day . you know, it's not his best, but it's his best lol!!
Its amazing how having Beck on stage really lights a fire in Ronnie and Keith's playing (especially Ronnie). Watching this footage really makes you miss Charlie too...his smiles are infectious.
My understanding was his style had a jazz swing so adjusting to Jeff was PRO.... might be a simpleton understanding of the rhythm section but just curious

Keith is the worlds greatest rhythm guitarist and his songs are world class. He basically wrote Gimme Shelter by himself and in my opinion, the greatest rock song ever. It really captured the end of the 60’s vibe perfectly much as Hendrix at Woodstock nailed the state of America and the Vietnam debacle as well. Shalom

Same here. Charlie was one of my favorites. Very unassuming yet a highly talented performing drummer. He wouldn't have stayed as a founding member of the Rolling Stones if he wasn't. RIP Charlie, we all miss you.
@Juan Lopez: his bands always function at 120%, tight as a frog's ass but also loose, laughing & joking & goofing around. Part of the reason is that he picks the cream of the crop on every instrument: his drummers, kbds, & bass players have been phenomenal -- veterans of Zappa's bands, Mahavishnu, & other elite units. But mostly it's that he picks bandmates who get joy from playing, and particularly pulling off near-perfomances routinely.
Everyone who is a fan of the British Blues/rock era, Hard rock, Fusion, Metal, or even just modern music history needs to own a copy of Jeff Beck's Truth album (July 1968). It is groundbreaking and timeless. Crank it all the way up.

Just another couple of mind blowing tunes along with all the other amazing songs and bands that came around every week for that incredible era. We were so lucky to be there. It was golden.

I saw the Jeff Beck Group in Selkirk Church Hall in 1967. The line up was Rod Stewart, vocals, Ronnie Wood bass and Aynsley Dunbar on drums. They were doing small gigs in preparation for a tour of the States - I think it was to promote the "Truth" album. We were three students from Edinburgh university. For the locals it was a Saturday night dance. I don't think they knew what had hit them. We were the only ones who knew who was on stage. Jeff played so loudly that you couldn't hear Rod singing.
His tone was incredible. Anyone who can play Over the Rainbow and make it so gorgeous deserves to be on a pedestal. RIP Jeff Beck. You have a great musical legacy.

This is why I go to see live music. Not to see one player struggle to keep up with another, but to see someone who is absolutely on fire and never plays the same thing twice.

This video just reminded me of an incredible night in 1968, at the California Ballroom in Dunstable (of all places) when Jeff and Ronnie Wood were playing together along with Rod Stewart in Jeff’s group.

Beck is a monster player. I see so many guitarists in his playing... meaning they all are using many parts of his style and technique. This includes Jimmy and Walsh and Slash and Eddie and Page and even Stevie.
