All manufacturers need to make the gray/black dump valves, water tank drain valves and propane quick connects closer to the edge of the RV. Us old farts can't get down on all fours and back up again so easily......
Blu-ray dvd play is a must. I like the outside speakers so I can listen to my music when I'm outside. I love this layout. My g/f informed me that this will be the next camper.
I purchased this camper this year. The style is great, the storage is great, the tech is amazing. Overall I really like it!. The DVD (actually the whole entertainment setup) is surprisingly well thought out and convenient. The floorplan is roomy and works really well. I tow it with a Tundra and a good wd hitch, and have had no problems at all. My only real issues, are minor: 1) Slam latch only on 1 outside storage door. 2) I have 5 different keys, from the manufacturer. Different keys for the front and back door (yet they look identical), another key for storage doors, yet another key for the wet bay, and then another key for batteries. It's mind-boggling to me that they would do it this way. Plus, since the 1 storage door only has a key closure, I must lock and unlock it every time I want to get in there. 3) The LP quick connect isn't where you can reach it. You have to crawl underneath the camper to reach it. It's not even labeled, so it took a minute to even find the thing. Overall, I think my issues are minor, and I really do like this camper. But man are they annoying!
@@JoshtheRVNerd Your review of the 2022 was one of the main reasons I got this one! It really is a fantastic camper. Thanks for the great reviews and corny jokes!
I appreciate how thorough your walk through you are with all the walk throughs, you look at things the way I do and that helps. So thanks Josh. I wish your dealership was closer to Kansas.
I have owned this exact model for over a year and used it a lot. I can honestly say I have never once noticed the ladder through the rear window. I was amazed when you pointed out that you could actually see it from inside!
After looking at so many floorplans and videos (thank you for those, Josh) this RV is my favorite because we need a trailer 30' or less and I really love the windows of a rear living plan. My opinions on the things you'd mentioned: Walk-through bathroom: I originally disliked this idea but after seeing them in person, I like them, especially with our 30' restriction. There is so much more room to get dried and dressed! Also we are older, so if we have guests, we won't disturb them during our nighttime visits, which could happen with a rear bathroom floorplan. Related to this is: Travel Access: We sometimes do a quick overnight in a parking lot, so having the bathroom accessible from the bedroom with slides in is a must. Getting to the rest of the trailer is not as important to us then. As long as we can get to the fridge and cabinets with in "road mode" when we are packing up the trailer or a rest stop lunch, we're happy. I once saw a similar floorplan with no separate door in the bedroom, meaning no way to sleep with slides in, and that would be a deal breaker for us.
The solid steps in the bedroom were added for 2023. I have mixed feelings about that. As much as I really love these solid steps for getting in and out of the trailer, I'm nervous about having a problem extending them in tight overnight parking lot situations as mentioned earlier - we'll see. Hmm, what if we're in a campground where we can't put the bedroom steps down because of the terrain? Wouldn't the solid steps get in the way? We'd usually want to have them down, so maybe this would be so rare it's not an issue, I don't know... shrug. DVD player and Fireplace: Please keep the DVD player! This trailer is perfect for us empty nester baby boomers and many of our generation have piles of DVDs that we bring on camping trips since TV can be spotty. I also really like a fireplace for chilly evenings and mornings so we won't have to pack a separate heater and it taking up space on the floor. There is lots of storage in Cougars, no need for those shallow cabinets found in other floorplans. Ladder blocks the view? Nah. Honestly, I'm happier to see the ladder closer to the middle of the RV and not on the edge so you feel a lot safer when you get to the top of the ladder and step onto the roof. The Bedroom: I will put baskets inside those deep storage areas on the sides of the bed. Also, instead of swapping out their RV king (70"x80") for a queen (60"x80"), I might swap it for an Olympic queen (66"x80"), a good compromise. Thanks again for the great review.
I went with the Grand Design 2500RL because it was lighter for my half ton. Turns out I still need to upgrade my truck so I could have just got the Cougar. I do like the Grand Design pass through storage much better than the Cougar. Those shades in the door are useless because you cannot operate them unless you open the screen door.
You beat me to it about the shades. I had to install ours and it turns out we just leave it cracked a little and haven't touched it since. Also, the trim in my Cougar 5th wheel bulges just like that on both sides. Ladder isn't in the way.
A FEW OF THE THINGS I LIKED: I'm actually okay with the walkthrough bathroom. Didn't think I would be but this seems to work. I really liked the rear extra wide dinette. Like the layout of the space and am cool with the depth of the slide. I currently have a narrow slide and it just doesn't make the area comfortably maneuverable. I don't know that I care about the rear door stairs being solid versus a fold under. Love all the windows! I would absolutely choose a DVD player. At a lot of the campgrounds we go to we don't have cell phone reception so streaming is not an option, nor do we even get television reception at some campgrounds. We also prefer indoor and outdoor speakers. Love that it's a half ton tow. Love that I can access the fridge with the slide closed. Don't care that I can't access the bedroom with the slide closed since it does have a secondary entrance. THINGS I WOULD WANT CHANGED: the separate black and gray tank drains need to be connected and further away from the slide. I don't want a fireplace so maybe that comes as an option. I'd much prefer a usable storage cabinet and using a space heater that I can use wherever and however I want. The cabinets look like there's a lot of wasted space - make that storage more effective since it's really limited, and the four shallow cabinet drawers need to be deeper. I, too, would really like to see shelves in the bathroom wall cabinets. The overhead cabinets not having a magnet on the ceiling is really dumb. That is a real small, cheap, but necessary feature and an easy factory fix, though I'd really just prefer the side opening cabinets TBH. I would also want more outlets in the kitchen. I personally despise the outlets installed in the above cabinets and much prefer anything in the wall or that pops out of the counter. Overall, a great layout and a great attempt. Just needs basic tweaks to make it more user friendly. I would seriously consider this camper with the aforementioned tweaks when I'm ready to replace the camper I currently have.
Great job as usual, Uncle Josh! I'm usually not a fan of walk-through bathrooms, but this one is nice because it isn't attached to a shorty queen! The dinette is pretty amazing, and the dinofa capability is what I prefer to a fixed table. As for the ladder, I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. That said, even if it did partially block the view, I'll take the real ladder over no ladder or one of the telescopes. Definitely might find itself on the short list.
Good job Josh as always. I have the 2022 west addition of this trailer. the things I see different is of course the west doesn't have a front windshield the other thing I noticed is the west has doors under the seats on each side of the dinette for storage. Also some of the electrical plugs and light switches are in different locations. We like the pass though bathroom it's 8ft wide lots of room to move around. If someone is in there just go though the other door it's not a big deal. I ordered mine with the 400 watt package & 2000 inverter also got the slide topper and a fantastic fan with vent covers for the bathroom no odors when this bad boy is turned on away with the fart fan as Josh calls it lol. The only other thing I did was I installed the MORryde CRE3000 suspension kit with heavy duty shackles. This gives the trailer a lot smoother ride. We used it a lot last year with no issues at all we love it.
This has long been my personal favorite travel trailer floor plan. The rear dinette with big rear window allows you to take advantage of the view, which is very often out back. Campsite by a lake? You back up to the lake, nearly every time. So why would you want to sip morning coffee on the side with the hookups? No reason I can think of. I love pass through baths, and have never understood those who don’t. It’s usually an irrational failure to realize how much bigger the bathroom is when it goes across the whole unit because they are so bothered by the bathroom being walked through when not in use. And then there’s the huge counter space. It’s just outstanding. When somebody makes a heavy, full size, full profile (no frame extending into the bedroom area), bedroom slide, luxury fifth wheel with this floor plan in the same length, it will be my next RV. A 30 ft fifth wheel is way shorter behind the truck than a 30ft TT, and it can turn all the way to 90 degrees with a long bed. The only downside is height but that’s rarely what keeps you out of a campground.
Like: the toilet is situated so it is not viewable from the living space for the most part. Not like or find odd: the triangle shaped counter, why couldn't that have been squared off, it wasn't that wide. Love: the space! Normally I'm not wild about dual entries but in this road mode case, I like it.
It CAN be squared off. I think brands shave it back to make it look/feel more open when you walk in. I think the squared counter would be preferable yself
Yes I love the ventless floor!yes I love the windows and recliners in the right direction! Yes I love the shade in the door! And yes I would love for manufacturers to give the option of full dvd entertainment center…! We don’t do the blue tooth thing in the rv, we actually swapped the cheap one that came with and installed a better one with the dvd… we had tried the fire stick and didn’t work … maybe 🤔 we are not electronic savvy like our kids! But the dvd solves lots of issues and we like the simplicity of it
I would like to thank Josh for his reviews. Because of his knowledge and experience in the RV community, gave me the foresight in buying a 25MLE. Thank you for reviewing these RV’s. I got a fantastic deal on mine. It is definitely a beast.
Recorded this a while ago. If we get a blast one one RV brand I will record them all but not bore people with the same thing over and over again. I spread them out.
Please keep the DVD player! Outdoor speakers aren't my cup of tea (on mine or my neighbor's lol). The one think my current TT has that I like better is there is storage behind the fireplace. I could put the pots and pans there so I could keep my trash can under the sink. Besides that, my current brand is not my happy place, so I can't wait to trade in. Thank you for the videos!
We looked at the Cougar 25RDS. Wife and I didn’t like the dinette storage It didn’t have a side door to put items in a tub to store stuff. We store our bottled water there. Don’t like the dinette table. Have a smaller one in my Jayflight 29RKS and have a difficult time opening and closing. Afraid I’ll hurt my self. Had a Keystone Outback and it started falling apart after three years..
This is one of my favorite layouts. I'm really looking forward to seeing Jayco's 5th wheel with the Giant U dinette! I like having the option for DVD or Blu-ray. As someone else said you never know if you'll have signal.
Now I really like this one. This is a superb couples TT with lots of room. Fireplace, they really help taking the chill out in the mornings, ladder not an issue. Road mode and you have access to everything, outstanding.
I personally like having the dvd/cd player when I am in an area with no reception. I carry a few movies with me in the trailer in case i want to watch something and I’m “off the grid”.
Love this model! I love the light switches, I love the DVD player, I love the huge dining area, I love the windows in the door with the up closing blinds, nice king bed but I’m good with Queen, love the out house, love the pantry and other storage. This is going on my wish list!!!
Eh, nice try but not enough improvement. To repeat ad nauseam, please include the cuddle compliant theater seats and add the mini-tables in an armrest hole. As for the giant wrap around in the back, would love and options counter across with cabinets in the middle and on chair on each side. Don't need junky outside speakers since folks can get better sound other ways. And why don't they try testing/designing slides that can be used when in.
Love the white walls and cabinets in the kitchen. Why can’t they follow through with white in bath and bedrooms? Love the white countertop in the bath. Why can’t the kitchen have white? Love that big table. Great surface for sewing!
I've always loved a rear dinette with windows all the way around. 😮Look at that counter space! I don't even mind the oven taking up space. I wish they would put a couple of adjustable shelves in the upper cabinet in the bathroom, that bit of extra storage. I don't think it's very helpful as is. Nice bedroom, I wish they had a side opening to the hanging storage. A place to get the PAP machine out of the way. I've always seen that as dead space, maybe others don't. I know it's a couples camper, but it sure would be nice to see that bed split into twins. I think we are seeing more and more of that, or maybe just because that fits my need and I'm paying more attn to it. I would love to hear from manufacturers why struts or magnets holding up the overhead storage doors seems so rare. It's just so simple, and anyone who has had to deal with holding it open to access, while perched on the bed in a half squat with the door balanced on your head might just see that as a pretty nice attn to detail. The ladder is fine. If people have a problem, Cougar could just switch over to an anchor point for a telescoping ladder. As for the entertainment system. I don't care about having a place to put music cd's, I can Bluetooth. But, I would like a DVD player for movies.
I love this trailer, BUT overhead storage doors def need struts and plumb both gray tanks and black tank together. Really like the inverted shades in both doors.
Josh,Would love to see the bathroom sink area become part of the slide to add footage to the bathroom and lose the bedroom door.I’ve got to come through the kitchen to get my coffee anyway before I go out.
My husband is retiring soon and we're avid campers (just sold our A-liner) and want to upgrade to a couple's RV like this one for 4-6 month at a time travel. We've watched a-gazzillion TH-camrs and we may have found "the one" you've highlighted here. Nice job! We would pay for an awesome suspension system though if they were to offer the upgrade option though. Nonetheless, we like the offerings they do have. Otherwise, everything else will work fine for us. Any word on when the 2024 model of this is coming out? Lastly, we really don't like that dang window upfront but we don't want to go to CA or OR to get one without it. Ugh! Do you guys carry one like this or does having that window disrupt sleep/privacy? Last thing I'll say is that you totally crack us up. Sometimes we have to rewind and re-listen to your description of features because we're laughing so hard at some of your funny phrases. Keep doing you Josh! You're okay in our book!
Thanks for the review, this is the exact model we are looking at getting. After looking at a lot of rear living TT this one is our favorite. The wife loves the walk through bathroom and I love the rear dinette, wish other brands would offer this. I just wish they would have put drawers in place of the nightstands. Hope to be getting one of these in fall, we have already been in contact with Bish's. Thanks for all you do much appreciated and that's why we are talking with Bish's now.
This one checks a lot of boxes. Wish it had a little more outside storage. Also, would be nice if the front steps stored underneath. It’s on my list. The inside is perfect.
The Ms will need a larger Black tank. Naah 😅 Love the ventless floors because they can still be effective at warming the tanks. Would be a nice option to remove the TV and add a huge window with mab some cabinets at the top. 💯 The lounge could work. Probably sleep 4 kids and no problem for two adults. Well, in my case a really tall guy and a Lhasa Apso when the Ms is chainsaw sleeping. Thanks Keystone! 🍻 Not a fan of slides but could live with it. Kitchen is YEAH! Please offer the window option mentioned above! Walk through the bathroom.. no, run! No outside storage screams RV park only. This might be a no go. But I don't know much about Cougar. Still, the outside storage leaves a lot to be desired.. Nice warranty. Those stairs again scream rv park with sewer hookup.. Like and the price sounds good. Only questions are about how it's built and are the seats nice?
I’m not a big fan of walk through bathrooms but it seems to work well here🙂If Cougar just upgraded the cheap Dollar Store 4” fart fan and the very entry level suspension and offered a comfortable sofa sleeper option for the dinette this would be darned near perfect👍
It would be tough to tow this with a 1/2 ton because you'll exceed the cargo capacity.. 835# hitch weight; 100# anti-sway bar; 250# male passenger; 150# female passenger = 1335 cargo weight not including any cargo in the truck. Most 1/2 tons are under 1450# cargo capacity. Many are under 1350#!
That's a really great camper! I vote no on the DVD, outside speakers and the whole entertainment center. Nowadays, all of that stuff is on everyone's phone in their pocket, perhaps in combination with a portable blue-tooth speaker. I'm also thinking to get rid of the fireplace/heater, square that cabinet up for more storage below and more counter space on top. A portable ceramic space heater (or two) works wonderfully for campers in the south. Might be a different story up north. And maybe add shelf storage behind the TV.
Like it a lot, wish it had the fabric like the Outbacks instead of the fake vinyl. Really good CCC, works great for expanding the solar package. I usually hate dinettes but that works as a 2nd bed for an adult if needed. Like the ventless, floors, that one panel by the fridge that is warped is making my OCD crazy. Absolutely love the bathroom, perfect for a couple. My only disappointment is the lack of outside storage access. Works well for minor off grid use, just obviously not trail work. Overall like it.
As far as the built in DVD player go, I’d go either way…. If it doesn’t have it, no problem, and if it does have one, it’s a nice extra….. But what I really like is the walk through bathroom which give privacy to the master bathroom and the same to the living/dining/kitchen areas…..
Would love to see an ottoman for extra storage, seating at open side of dinette, LV rm seating, quick bed making at dinette, Etc….could pull freestanding table to make U-shaped kitchen for buffet…
A lot to like. Don't think I'd want the window in front over the bed. Is there a way to get an adjustable bed frame into an RV? I like to sleep with my head and knees raised a bit to ease lower back strain. With how they make RV beds I don't see that happening.
First, I’m sure you know this, but the “Lippert” shade in the door can be put in so as to open from the top or the bottom regardless who installs it. If your door is prepped for a shade and has the four (two top/two bottom) tabs then you can install the shade either way you may like it. Sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying. Ok, now to your two questions… I don’t mind if an RV comes with or without a DVD player as long as it comes with a spot to put one if it doesn’t come with a dvd player. As far as the outside speakers go, I dislike them sooooo soooo sooo much 😂. We just purchased a K-Z and it came with a Bluetooth portable speaker instead and I was so thrilled. The outside mounted speakers have always been a cringy eye sore thing for me. They’re never in a good place, usually not the greatest brand, and adds to one more place you have to check for leaks/apply caulking to.
I don't even think a MFG needs to include the portable bluetooth. I have several at the house and most people I know have some from things like christmas or giveaways
Thanks for the videos - always appreciate the "road mode" shots. I love the dinette and all the windows in this model. Could take or leave the fireplace. Kitchen could use more storage. Don't like the second set of solid flip down steps - makes access to trailer inside storage unit impossible. I think the Bullet's 253RDS execution of this floor plan is much better.
YES! to DVD player. Tired of lousy cell service and hot spot baloney. Easier to grab a few DVDs from the cheap bin at the store or the thrift store and build a bit of a 'library' or at least have the CHOICE to watch DVD without having to ADD a player. LOVE this floorpan! That's a super nice walk-through bathroom and doesn't;t bother me at all.
What, no RV yoga demo this time? I like the tootsie toaster, but not the sacrifice of storage. Too bad it doesn't swing open to expose some storage behimd it (if there is any).
Hi Josh, the ladder wasn't noticable until you mentioned it. I like the fire place and I want a DVD player, a lot of DVDs at home to bring on a trip. As for the outside speakers they can be blue tooth and get rid of the side mounted exterior speakers. I do not care for the window above the bed, give me the solid nose. Also, how about a fan in that opening rather than a second air unit? a two way fan that I can use to pull heat out of the trailer and air from the living area into the bedroom? Drawers in those side stans would be better and you can get rid of that carpet. Just a plain shelf would be fine. I think the travel access is great. I am sure that they can make the sewer outlet work with one gate valve and opening, that is an oversite. I like the floor plan and this is something I would purchase with a few little changes.
We have a new 2024 minnie winnie 2630 MLRK and we do not have a dvd. I miss it. And the water station is difficult to deal with. miss my water closet. the solar is awesome, the 12 v fridge is the best thing ever.
not gonna lie, I like the free floating tables. Could easily use that as a moveable island for cooking and plating then just move the table where you want to eat.
I think a modern day half tone truck would work but not with a cheap or even average weight distribution hitch if traveling in winds over 15 mph. A quality weight distribution hitch would be a must in my opinion.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Would you give us some tips on setting up and using equalizer hitches. I am seeing several videos of people bending their a frames by what I think is tightening the hitches with too much force or pressure on the chains. The dealer said that we didn't need one because I have a 1 ton dually. But the ride is smoother with the equalizer hitch on it. I adjust it by just lightly setting the trailer on the ball, adjusting the chains with very little tension, and then putting the rest of the weight on the ball. Seems to work well. By the way I have the 25RDS and we are enjoying it a lot. Bought it after watching your videos of it. Thanks for the great job of showing it and it's features..
@@billstoys8324 Lot of people also buy a hitch over-rated for their RV. If your GVWR is 6,800lbs, then you don't want a 12,000lb hitch But that's what a lot of people buy and a lot of places sell you
All very nice. Didn’t notice the ladder outside the window until you mentioned it. Not fussed about having the CD/DVD player built in. Not really a fan of the window at my head while sleeping, particularly when the temperature drops outside.
Ok here's my take. They should have put the backsplash all the way around the kitchen wall. Jealous of the fireplace! (my 2023 Freedom Express 294BH doesn't have one and I don't think we can install, it would make the pantry/entertainment center door too heavy to open and close!) Still don't like the table base, ours had that and we put in a Lagun. LOVE the huge dinette wow! LOVE the ventless floor ! LOVE the cabinet color and furniture colors! The closets in the bedroom need to be a little bigger. The 2nd door is awesome!
That whole "prep" thing is over-inflated. Cameras can be applied to any RV regardless of "Prep." Cougar just runs a wire in the rear wall so you can splice in and apply whatever camera you prefer.
I wish Cougar would have Azdel walls. The hind end of our cougar 5th wheel delaminated, which cost us a ton when we sold it. Also having the lower-front end diamond plated or rhino lined it would be very helpful.
I personally like the bathroom placement. The worse case scenario in morning a person would have to robe up and go to back door. I also love having room for trashcan in bathroom. With technology today I don't need dvd player. However I have a 18 5 wheeler I sure hope the Bluetooth on new models is better with radio. Outside speakers are nice since we are parked on private property but it's not necessary. Overall I think cougar pretty much checked all the boxes for me with couple RV. My BIGGEST complaint with the Cougar is the cheap cabinet doors. In the kitchen all of mine have been to peel.
That actually has nothing to do with Cougar. That was a supplier-related item that affected multiple brands -- not just keystone. A vendor sent them bad glue which causes some awful peeling issues. It's an open recall
I have a Keystone, 2021. It's a Passport but somewhat the same company. I like mine better in most ways but this one has some great things. No floor vents. I live in GA and camp in parks during moderate weather. Super duper heat isn't on my radar. Quality AC is. Gotta have the 2nd AC when we camp the week of July 4th. I really like the rear dinette. Ours has the dinette in the slide, and it's probably about the same size, but this one just looks roomier.. That TV angle would literally kill the deal for me. We have a DVD player in the LR and bedroom because you just can't count on wifi or cell coverage, and my wife likes the TV on to go to sleep. Get rid of the speakers. Useless for most of us and Bluetooth speakers sound better. I bet 1 in 20 campers actually use those speakers, indoor or outdoor. I just don't like the middle bath. I'm a private bathroom person but wasted space in a hall is the same as wasted space in the center of the bathroom. Our side bath is plenty spacious. Big bathrooms are great, but I'm just not a fan of the middle bathroom. I want a mini fridge outside. Lifepo4 batteries and quality charge controllers can have low temperature protection. You shouldn't use them when the internal twmp of the battery is below freezing, but honestly, who's camping when its 20 degrees outside?. I am not. Overall, it's a great camper with a couple of design features I don't personally prefer.
At 12:49, you said that there's pretty good storage space in the "kitchen" when you were talking about the bathroom 😆😅😄😃😂, good one Uncle Josh! 😅 🤗 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
is it cold there? I'm in Texas...100 degrees here. ugh. end of countertop near sink..a drop down extension counter top. Storage over fireplace when your space is limited. YES on DVD player. I love this floorplan. not a deal breaker on walk through bathroom but i prefer not to have that. definitely drawers in bdrm.... They really planned this one out. Great job Cougar.
All manufacturers need to make the gray/black dump valves, water tank drain valves and propane quick connects closer to the edge of the RV. Us old farts can't get down on all fours and back up again so easily......
Yes I want a dvd player. I don’t have internet a lot of places I camp but I always have dvds
I think dvd players are nice for times when u don't have wifi signal. A single sewer outlet is a must for me
@@scarlettjohnson9364 Same for me. Most places I go camping. I don't have cell phone or wifi access.
Yes they added the stable steps in the bedroom entrance. No good. Now you have to have the steps out to get on that side of the bed.
Blu-ray dvd play is a must. I like the outside speakers so I can listen to my music when I'm outside.
I love this layout. My g/f informed me that this will be the next camper.
I have The 2025 update coming. They really dialed it in
DVD player a must. Not enough wifi out there to stream in most situations. Great RV. Cougar just stands out with their designs and color choices.
There's something about The Cougars thats hard to beat!!!
They're one of my favorite overall brands currently and have been for years. The stuff they're putting out is fantastic
Keep the disc player watching a movie on a stormy night with a bucket of popcorn is always great even when you are camping
Fair enough. TH
Yes DVD, bluerayplayer inside outside speakers latter not a problem
I purchased this camper this year. The style is great, the storage is great, the tech is amazing. Overall I really like it!. The DVD (actually the whole entertainment setup) is surprisingly well thought out and convenient. The floorplan is roomy and works really well. I tow it with a Tundra and a good wd hitch, and have had no problems at all.
My only real issues, are minor:
1) Slam latch only on 1 outside storage door.
Front and back door likely do have different tumblers btw. That's annoyingly common.
Good feedback on the LP connect btw. TY for that
@@JoshtheRVNerd Your review of the 2022 was one of the main reasons I got this one! It really is a fantastic camper. Thanks for the great reviews and corny jokes!
I like the space heater. Pretty & makes it feel like home. The ladder is fine in front of the window.
TY
This is my favorite Floorplan. Love the u dinet. Big enough to sleep 2 adults. Love the whole layout
Awesome! TY Mary :)
I appreciate how thorough your walk through you are with all the walk throughs, you look at things the way I do and that helps. So thanks Josh. I wish your dealership was closer to Kansas.
You are so welcome!
I have owned this exact model for over a year and used it a lot. I can honestly say I have never once noticed the ladder through the rear window. I was amazed when you pointed out that you could actually see it from inside!
That's exactly the feedback I was hoping for - direct from an owner. TY
After looking at so many floorplans and videos (thank you for those, Josh) this RV is my favorite because we need a trailer 30' or less and I really love the windows of a rear living plan. My opinions on the things you'd mentioned:
Walk-through bathroom: I originally disliked this idea but after seeing them in person, I like them, especially with our 30' restriction. There is so much more room to get dried and dressed! Also we are older, so if we have guests, we won't disturb them during our nighttime visits, which could happen with a rear bathroom floorplan. Related to this is:
Travel Access: We sometimes do a quick overnight in a parking lot, so having the bathroom accessible from the bedroom with slides in is a must.
Wow.. this awesome awesome feedback. Ty so much!!
What do u pull yours with? We are looking at this one.
Yes, inside and outside speakers and yes the disc option! Who doesn't love the Wal-Mart $5.00 bin! Reach in and pull out "Victory"!
😊we bought grand design as well for much the same reason.
Some good, fair points here. TY
I love the floor plan!❤ a ginormous u dinette and theater seats! Yes!!!
Love the bottom up shades. Prefer storage and shoe garage over fireplace.
TY
Great job as usual, Uncle Josh! I'm usually not a fan of walk-through bathrooms, but this one is nice because it isn't attached to a shorty queen! The dinette is pretty amazing, and the dinofa capability is what I prefer to a fixed table. As for the ladder, I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. That said, even if it did partially block the view, I'll take the real ladder over no ladder or one of the telescopes. Definitely might find itself on the short list.
Originally.. I didn't like walk-thru baths. They've grown on me though. i'm pretty neutral either way anymore
I wish the eastern production would add dinette doors.
TY for the mor/ryde and qualify of use feedback! :)
Thankfully the height is still less than even "Small" fifth wheels so you shouldn't have too many issues
Check out an Alliance Avenue 26RD All Access fifth wheel! 28' 10" exact same floor plan less the bedroom door but has more closet space.
@@JoshtheRVNerd Oh good, glad I'm not wacko (or too wacko). Thanks.
Was expecting a camp kitchen or something under the dinette but still great the way it is.
But the dvd solves lots of issues and we like the simplicity of it
Fair enough. TY
There should be a back splash behind the stove top
I would like to thank Josh for his reviews. Because of his knowledge and experience in the RV community, gave me the foresight in buying a 25MLE. Thank you for reviewing these RV’s. I got a fantastic deal on mine. It is definitely a beast.
Hope you love it!
I’m watching you in a jacket, gloves and a beanie and where I’m at heat index is 114 😂
Recorded this a while ago. If we get a blast one one RV brand I will record them all but not bore people with the same thing over and over again. I spread them out.
Wow, awesome! Cougar is really stepping it up! Great execution of this floorplan!
Glad you like it!
TY for the feedback!
YES, we still want a DVD player. PLEASE keep this as part of the entertainment system.😊
Great Video Josh.
Yeah the western models DO have dinette storage doors
I wish the eastern ones would adopt that
This is one of my favorite layouts. I'm really looking forward to seeing Jayco's 5th wheel with the Giant U dinette! I like having the option for DVD or Blu-ray. As someone else said you never know if you'll have signal.
🎉🎉🎉
I'm still trying to get my hands on a 26RU Eagle for you! :)
Prefer walk through bathrooms because it’s a smart use of space and makes the unit shorter.
I wasnt originally a fan but.. I'm actually coming around on them
Now I really like this one. This is a superb couples TT with lots of room. Fireplace, they really help taking the chill out in the mornings, ladder not an issue. Road mode and you have access to everything, outstanding.
Glad you like it!
I personally like having the dvd/cd player when I am in an area with no reception. I carry a few movies with me in the trailer in case i want to watch something and I’m “off the grid”.
Ty
Walk through bathroom wouldn’t work for us but I do LOVE no vents in the floors! Bout time thank you Cougar. Hopefully all others will catch on.
Love this model! I love the light switches, I love the DVD player, I love the huge dining area, I love the windows in the door with the up closing blinds, nice king bed but I’m good with Queen, love the out house, love the pantry and other storage. This is going on my wish list!!!
Thanks so much! 😊
TY Penny! I appreciate all your visits :)
Since I rarely travel with anyone but family, the split walk through bathroom is great. There is a door in the bedroom if worse comes to worse.
I feel the same. TY
I love this trailer, BUT overhead storage doors def need struts and plumb both gray tanks and black tank together. Really like the inverted shades in both doors.
Yeah the dual sewer outlet thing is.. it surprises me
Josh,Would love to see the bathroom sink area become part of the slide to add footage to the bathroom and lose the bedroom door.I’ve got to come through the kitchen to get my coffee anyway before I go out.
Awesome bathroom. All shades should rise from the bottom. Really like this RV!
TY Destiny!
2024's are in production now. I don't have video of one yet but certainly will when I get ahold of it
TY for watching btw :)
Wow TY Kenny!!
This one checks a lot of boxes. Wish it had a little more outside storage. Also, would be nice if the front steps stored underneath. It’s on my list. The inside is perfect.
TY Chris!
The Ms will need a larger Black tank. Naah 😅
Love the ventless floors because they can still be effective at warming the tanks.
Would be a nice option to remove the TV and add a huge window with mab some cabinets at the top. 💯
The lounge could work. Probably sleep 4 kids and no problem for two adults. Well, in my case a really tall guy and a Lhasa Apso when the Ms is chainsaw sleeping. Thanks Keystone! 🍻
Not a fan of slides but could live with it.
Seat comfort is really subjective. You have to try one on for size sometime
Yes dvd player included, no to the outside speakers. Prefer pointing out the flaws as well as good parts
I try to do a fair measure of both. TY
I’m not a big fan of walk through bathrooms but it seems to work well here🙂If Cougar just upgraded the cheap Dollar Store 4” fart fan and the very entry level suspension and offered a comfortable sofa sleeper option for the dinette this would be darned near perfect👍
Yeah I'm kinda coming around on that whole walk-thru bath thing
I generally agree though there are a surprising number of commenters saying "Keep the DVD" here.
YES - I want a DVD player! i have many series DVD's that I like to bring with me when I camp!!!
Ty
Is it a dvd/cd player? If so, it's a must-have. I've got a butt load of cds.
Yep Yep
Like it a lot, wish it had the fabric like the Outbacks instead of the fake vinyl. Really good CCC, works great for expanding the solar package. I usually hate dinettes but that works as a 2nd bed for an adult if needed. Like the ventless, floors, that one panel by the fridge that is warped is making my OCD crazy. Absolutely love the bathroom, perfect for a couple. My only disappointment is the lack of outside storage access. Works well for minor off grid use, just obviously not trail work. Overall like it.
Outback is a brand I wish I had more opportunities to record. They're different and often very fun
As far as the built in DVD player go, I’d go either way…. If it doesn’t have it, no problem, and if it does have one, it’s a nice extra…..
But what I really like is the walk through bathroom which give privacy to the master bathroom and the same to the living/dining/kitchen areas…..
TY. Appreciate the insights!
Would love to see an ottoman for extra storage, seating at open side of dinette, LV rm seating, quick bed making at dinette, Etc….could pull freestanding table to make U-shaped kitchen for buffet…
That would be cool
Josh you do such a great job with your reviews and I keep going back to this one! Great job nerd!
A lot to like. Don't think I'd want the window in front over the bed. Is there a way to get an adjustable bed frame into an RV? I like to sleep with my head and knees raised a bit to ease lower back strain. With how they make RV beds I don't see that happening.
Factories don't offer things like that commonly and cougar does not at all. I've seen it DIY'd before
I have a 2022 model. So far I love it… my only complaint is the bed. It’s to big. I may cut it down and make it a queen for more walking space…
They're basically pre-set to do that!
Ok, now to your two questions…
I don’t mind if an RV comes with or without a DVD player as long as it comes with a spot to put one if it doesn’t come with a dvd player.
I’ll keep an eye out for that one
@@JoshtheRVNerdlooks like Passport will have a similar model in 2024 with their 253RD. Would love to see you do a video of that when it comes out.
We installed thin shades from the bottom. They are nice for nighttime privacy and daytime views.
It's exactly how I'd do it too! :)
We still watch dvd’s in our new cougar.
YES! to DVD player.
My back legit hurt for about two weeks when I did that lazy driftwood move. I'm not 37 years old anymore I guess
What! No floor vent heating that one knocks this one down considerably, very nice new design though👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very very nice love the floor plan.
Josh your my favorite RV guy always honest about your views. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome! Thank you! I sure try
Wow, not much to critique on this RV. Sheez a beaut Clark!!
It really is solidly done
Yeah I feel like the ladder is a non-issue. A 2-way fan in the bedroom is an awesome idea. We've installed things like that for folks for sure.
We have a new 2024 minnie winnie 2630 MLRK and we do not have a dvd. I miss it. And the water station is difficult to deal with. miss my water closet. the solar is awesome, the 12 v fridge is the best thing ever.
Appreciate the feedback!
I still would want an outside kitchen in a couple's coach. The mini fridge is where we store all beverages.
Hard to do in a layout like this. Not always space to fit everything
Ignoring that
I’m with you
Outside fridge is handy
Yes! This is what I’m looking for!
Great pick!
Walk through bathroom is perfect
not gonna lie, I like the free floating tables. Could easily use that as a moveable island for cooking and plating then just move the table where you want to eat.
I agree. I like having flexible options where it makes sense
Bought it today! Thanks for the tip Josh. It looks like everything I’ve been looking for and I can’t wait to get it out and about! 😊
Awesome! Great pick :)
Would you mind dropping me a review at g.page/r/CdPcitNVx2nDEAg/review if my videos were helpful along the way?
Was it your camera or did the table actually here a bow in it? And a power tower in the corner or under the TV on the counter be nice.
I don't use fisheye lenses so it's most likely the table was warped if that what you're seeing
The kitchen layout is perfect
Oh thank you!
I think a modern day half tone truck would work but not with a cheap or even average weight distribution hitch if traveling in winds over 15 mph. A quality weight distribution hitch would be a must in my opinion.
I think a good hitch is _always_ a good idea really
If your GVWR is 6,800lbs, then you don't want a 12,000lb hitch
But that's what a lot of people buy and a lot of places sell you
@@JoshtheRVNerdSo something like the Camco EAZ Lift Elite 1000 would work because the Max weight is 8800 lbs. on the trailer.
Hey Josh , was it me ? But I think the molding on the slide by the light switch you showed was beginning to pull away from the slide . 😂😂😂
Oh my gosh this is really perfect for two people. I love it. Where can I get one I’m in Las Vegas area.
our nearest store would be some place like Idaho Falls
All very nice. Didn’t notice the ladder outside the window until you mentioned it. Not fussed about having the CD/DVD player built in. Not really a fan of the window at my head while sleeping, particularly when the temperature drops outside.
TY
Ok here's my take. They should have put the backsplash all the way around the kitchen wall. Jealous of the fireplace! (my 2023 Freedom Express 294BH doesn't have one and I don't think we can install, it would make the pantry/entertainment center door too heavy to open and close!) Still don't like the table base, ours had that and we put in a Lagun. LOVE the huge dinette wow! LOVE the ventless floor ! LOVE the cabinet color and furniture colors! The closets in the bedroom need to be a little bigger. The 2nd door is awesome!
I'm in a freedom express owner's group and I've seen people install those fireplaces before. It can definitely be done.
Backup camera prepped? Couldn't quite tell.
Josh, is it true that you can't operate the shade in the door because the screen door is in the way?
That whole "prep" thing is over-inflated. Cameras can be applied to any RV regardless of "Prep." Cougar just runs a wire in the rear wall so you can splice in and apply whatever camera you prefer.
I love this camper but looking at a Shadow Cruiser both have good and bad points...this has helped alot.
I think that's true of any RV really - they all have benefits and drawbacks for sure
I wish Cougar would have Azdel walls. The hind end of our cougar 5th wheel delaminated, which cost us a ton when we sold it. Also having the lower-front end diamond plated or rhino lined it would be very helpful.
They actually used to rhino line the lower chunk of their caps. I was surprised when they stopped. I always liked it
Love this layout! They didnt forget anything!
That's kinda Cougar's "Thing" -- they pack everything they can into their sizes
Easy fix for bedroom side table..cougar could make them drawers or just grab a plastic container to use as a drawer
👍🏻 I like it
I personally like the bathroom placement.
@@JoshtheRVNerd humm I wonder if I could have mine replaced under the recall
I LOVE the huge rear U-shaped dinette and the huge rear window. Ladder? What Ladder? 😉
😊
Yes on dvd. You can always watch a dvd
Fair. TY
No dvd
Ty
Yeah i'm not camping in subfreezing weather either but when people shop they act like they are all going to lol
At 12:49, you said that there's pretty good storage space in the "kitchen" when you were talking about the bathroom 😆😅😄😃😂, good one Uncle Josh! 😅 🤗 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
You just don't know where I eat my meals..
@@JoshtheRVNerd Very true, I don't!
Ooof. I wish Cougar had a shorty one person version of the Cougar. I really like there quality a lot.
Like a small single axle series?
This camper is very nice thanks Josh
Glad you like it!
O love 2 entry doors and bathroom by the bedroom
is it cold there? I'm in Texas...100 degrees here. ugh. end of countertop near sink..a drop down extension counter top. Storage over fireplace when your space is limited. YES on DVD player. I love this floorplan. not a deal breaker on walk through bathroom but i prefer not to have that. definitely drawers in bdrm.... They really planned this one out. Great job Cougar.
lol no. Not now. But it was back when I recorded this :)
